So far I've only expressed interest online and done an Intro class. The experience has been tremendously positive. I was quickly contacted after completing my online form, given pertinent and helpful information for my introduction class and received helpful reminders. Day of the team was warm and welcoming, the intro class and instructor Abril were OUTSTANDING, and they answered all of my questions and made me feel comfortable enough to sign up day of. I do not recommend this studio, and by extension this company. I was a student from May 2019 to January 2020. Pros: - Fun music playing in background during classes. - Staff always posted at front desk, and can communicate with them via text. - Clean, quality equipment. - Debbie will give you the best workout. Duncan is also a good instructor. Cons: - Unjust policies regarding credits (aka YOUR money). Expire within only 30 days. They'll try to sell you on packages and it's not worth it. They don't give extensions/rollovers of credits. You can't use credits towards private lessons. - Poor app. Can't see basics like how many credits you have vs. have lost, list of charges, past classes/instructors you've taken, etc. - Lynne's teaching style is terrible (slow transitions, incorrect instructions, forgetting to do an exercise on both sides of the body, can't always model proper execution). - Long waitlists and difficulty in getting into classes, especially limited weekend classes (like with Debbie). I lost more than 10 class credits because of changes in class schedule/instructors (loss of Abbie and Betania in the fall), long waitlists, and inability to get into the courses I wanted (especially as working up to level 1.5 and 2 classes). If you like this studio and want to come 1x per week like I did, just pay as you go. I also recommend checking out the Pilates Center of Rockville that's just a few minutes away as a good alternative. read more

I went for an introductory class that required several text exchanges. When I went there, I was told that my socks were not good enough for their studio. I have worn these socks at Pilates and yoga classes but they tried to sell me $14 socks. I understand that this is a business and that they would like to make money off of products but this just seems coercive. When I stated that I would be fine, I was told that it was their corporate policy and that I need to show them my socks before entering. As a newbie to the area, I am exploring the various studios to find a good fit and Club Pilates doesn't seem like a good fit for me. They seemed to care more about trying to sell me things rather than accommodating me and trying to get my business as a long term customer. read more

After a good experience with an intro class at the BETHESDA DOWNTOWN location, I enrolled in the North Bethesda studio since it's more conveniently located for me. My experience here was vastly different from before - the two instructors I tried were not good at teaching and I found the workouts useless for anyone even in poor shape. Also, for a Level 1 class there were no clear instructions on any moves that were done. Don't be fooled, the intro class will not teach you terminology to get you through the class and the very awful owner, Maritza, will try to say your struggling to cover up her terrible hiring of awful instructors who seemed to not know how to instruct. I am a very active person and play sports. Furthermore, the website is a lie, their internal portal to sign up has more lies - THEY DONT HAVE ANY CLASSES OVER LEVEL 1.5 but advertise a wide range of classes they offer. I asked for my account to be placed on hold until Level 2 was available and she wanted me to pay for it. And the laughable warning that you had to be tested into Level 2 which they had an unknown time of when it would be available. Maritza is out to rip people off. I raised my concerns with an employee and was met with resistance and comments on my form even though she does not teach or observe any classes. She also clearly didn't know any details on membership and just made up crap as she talked to me. I decided to transfer the rest of my membership to Bethesda, only to find out that the terms at North Bethesda are written so that the fee to transfer and to cancel are the same. This is not the case for other studios. Please note this is a franchise establishment. So if other studio is awesome, this one definitely is not. I called other studios all over and they all had similar policies that made sense in terms of customer service. They were pretty shocked by the situation and how unfairly I was being treated. And offered free months of pilates and told me how their hold policies work (not like north Bethesda where they don't even offer other higher level classes which is the origin of why i asked for my membership to be placed on hold). Maritza doesn't care about her customers. I recommend you drive a little farther to the Bethesda downtown studio. They treat customers respectfully and care about your level of happiness. I REALLY WANT TO PUT NO STARS BECAUSE THIS PLACE HAS THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY WILL GET YOUR MONEY. One of the employees (NATHAN) is the worst customer associate at this facility! As a customer associate you are required and obligated to go over rules and policy with the customer but he NEVER went over any cancellation fee and even a pause fee when i have signed up the first time. Even at that when i filled out a cancellation form he NEVER renerate that i will be charge for another month. If that was the case i would be ok with it. I visited the studio to buy some classes for myself and a friend as a birthday treat. Their shortest commitment was 3 months, so that is what I opted for, with 8 classes a month totaling $159 month per person (this included the Black Friday discount). Definitely pricey, but the studio looked nice and clean, and from talking to the person at the front desk (Eleanor), it seemed like it would be a good fit for someone who regularly goes to the gym (me) and someone who is just starting out (my friend). Fast forward to our first class on a Tuesday evening - a level 1 reformer flow class. As the class before ended, I noticed that almost all of the attendees were senior citizens (looking back this should have given me pause). Once our class started, I saw that we were less than half full, but I figure this is a good thing since there would be more attention from the instructor. We started at a snail's pace, which I figured was the warm-up, except we stayed that way the entire time. By the end of the class, it felt like all I did was some light stretching, but I just thought, "Cool, I'm more fit than I thought!" Except that wasn't the case because my non-athletic friend also thought the class was too easy. So she called them and got Eleanor from whom I bought the memberships. I didn't catch all the conversation, but I could hear a lot of pushback when my friend was trying to explain that the level 1 class was too easy. At the end, we decided to try the next level class - level 1.5 reformer flow. This time the class was 2/3 full. Five minutes past class time, we were informed our instructor would be a little late, and that another person would take over until then. This instructor's style was much faster and a bit chaotic. When our instructor finally arrived, we went back to slower pace. But at the end of it all, though it was a bit harder than the level 1 class, my body didn't feel challenged. My friend and I agreed that we should talk to them about our experiences and ask for guidance. I'm the person that hates any type of confrontation and will avoid it if I can, but in the end $159/month is a lot to pay for exercise that does nothing. So I did my best to calmly and clearly explain my situation to Eleanor, hoping to get some guidance and empathy. Instead what I got was, "you can ask the instructor to make it harder" and "maybe you need to work on your form" while she tried to cut me off and talk over me. The "it's your form" comment had me seeing red, but I calmly explained that I didn't think it was my form (I take barre) and I've challenged myself to the extent possible with modifications. I asked if perhaps there are more challenging classes because the Club Pilates North Bethesda website lists a lot more classes. But no, there aren't, and they don't know they'll be offering them, and that I should have reviewed the class schedule when I signed the membership form and I would have seen those aren't offered classes yet. I didn't feel like I was getting anywhere, so I emailed the owner later that day about my situation. I received the same response, and that the next level up is only for advanced students (but this is a moot point since they don't offer anything beyond 1.5, and I would have to pay an additional fee to freeze my membership even though THEY DON'T KNOW WHEN THEY'LL BE OFFERING MORE CLASSES - is this not crazy?). In the end I paid the $100 cancellation fee, plus lost more than $100 in paid classes (in total this was over $400 since this was supposed to be a birthday gift). This was obviously a super expensive and incredibly frustrating experience. Given that there are tons of fitness studio classes in the area (including several reformer pilates ones) and most of them are cheaper, please consider spending your hard earned money somewhere people care about your fitness experience and not just your money. read more

I'm posting this review in praise of Duncan. He is calm and gives clear instructions. Don't judge his quiet demeanor. I feel all body parts are worked in his 50 minute 1.5 workout. As to other reviews, I'm insulted by your judgement of "seniors" and "older". I see all shapes, ages and sizes when I come into class. It's friendly....then I hop on my reformer and pay attention to my practice! We're all walking in the same direction and I hope you know you'll be considered old someday and I hope you are in as good of shape as I am ....if you're lucky! Be aware of the 30 days cancellation notice. I was not aware of this. I called 9 days before my month ended, and they said I have to continue another month because of the cancellation policy. I do not think it is fair to force a client to take another month because of the 30 day cancellation notice. It is not like I asked them to cancel my membership the day before of my last month. I felt like they do not respect their clients. Also, all most all of the weekend morning classes are full. So there aren't much class options during the weekends. I've been taking class at Club Pilates North Bethesda since it opened in October. I always learn new things in the class and enjoy the instructors. Since they opened, they've added additional classes and times. My favorite classes are the cardio pilates with the jump board and the center & balance pilates. The reformer machines at the studio are easy to use and the staff are friendly. read more

As an Pilates studio , I have no concerns. It has scope for improvement but every place does. However off late I have started noticing some stuff that I would want the management to look closely at. There are a lot of new joiners and looks like business is picking up. Most their instructors are great in their own way and each of them have their strengths. The underlying current however is that some of the experienced and good instructors seem to have favorites and borderline not encouraging the new joiners to be in their class. I have been going to the studio for a year and its easy for me. Not everyone can be an ideal student, not everyone realizes that they are in a 1.5 class, not everyone has names that can be easily pronounced but at least give it a try. I have seen some new joiners look discouraged when dealing with some of these situations and they probably are too scared to come forward. Maybe some of the experienced and good trainers need some sensitization towards various levels and races. As a teacher, star students are great to have however there would be greater satisfaction in being a part of someone's journey. read more
