I tried the Pilates club in Poway and advised them upfront that I'm not sure I could do the reformer because of severe arthritis in my shoulders. I signed up for one month only and realized I couldn't do it because of my shoulders. I advised them and they acknowledged that I was no longer going to be part of Pilates. They continued to make monthly charges of $215 even though they acknowledged I was quitting. When I called them about it, they said they could only partially refund my money. I tried several times to reach out to the owner but she never responded. I reached Alex the manager at Poway Pilates and she tried to help but said I would have to deal with the manager or owner over her. BEWARE you won't get your money back if they screw up. read more

Pilates is the secret to my success!!!! since starting in June I have gained so much strength and minimized hip pain I have had for years! Before I started Club Pilates I had sore hip flexors and also my left knee bothered me when climbing ladders or stairs. That is all gone now. I have seen an amazing transformation with my core strength, posture, no more pain in my joints. The camaraderie with the other members is really nice. The instructors guide you through the movements and help you to visualize the muscles you are using, where to focus, and why. They're always there to make small adjustments in your posture to get the most benefit. My flexibility is much better. read more

So this is the brand new Pilates place in town that I've been eyeing every time I go to HomeGoods. I finally decided to sign up for a full three months and I got the 8-pack which consists of attending around two classes per week. I've never done Pilates on a reformer before coming here so I'm glad I got to do a free intro class to get a taste of what it's like. Gretchen was my instructor for the intro and she was absolutely lovely. She will assess your fitness level and recommend which classes would be a good fit for you. Once you do the intro class you have 24 hours to get a membership and a waiver of the entry fee. I took the plunge... And I'm glad I did. I went to my first club Pilates class which was reformer flow 1.0 (there are different levels for different fitness levels). I will admit it is extremely intimidating going to the first actual class. There are a lot of people who seem to already know each other and it kind of felt like i was the odd one out... but actually everyone was so nice and there were various fitness levels in the class so i wasn't the only one looking around for what to do haha. (Obviously the instructor will come over and help you, don't be shy, everyone is incredibly friendly) I think the most important thing to note about the instructors is that before every class they walk around to each person in the class and check in and ask how your body is feeling. You know to make sure if you need any extra attention or may need modification due to an injury or issue. For instance, someone had a back injury they had to work around, and another person had a shoulder issue... and they were able to still workout with everyone with modification. I was impressed that with simple modifications or a switch of exercise a lot of the people here were able to do the workouts. But of course check with your doctor first before doing any exercises if you have concerns. Anyways, we all laughed together through the parts of the workout that burned, and it was like working out with a bunch of friends. It is a very welcoming environment and there really is nothing to be afraid of. I did not feel judged at all during my time here. If you do plan to sign up for a membership i highly recommend trying out all the instructors in your fitness level because you may like someone's approach more than the other! In terms of what the interior looks like, it's very clean, neat, and bright. The entry way is a nice light blue with some activewear you can buy. Then there is a private room for individual Pilates session. To the left there is the bigger studio room for the group exercise. There is plenty of space between reformers so you absolutely won't feel like anyone's worrying about what your doing or see the faces you will be making. There are mostly women that i see here, but i have seen some men in my classes. There are all ages in here so don't feel like you're too old or feel out of place, everyone is here to get in a workout. We all want to have a good time! Lastly, if you are later than 5-10 minutes you cannot join class. Depends on the instructor, but you might get a strike or something. And if you plan to cancel your membership at any time you have to give 30 days notice. So if you paid for the month and cancel a week later, you will be charged for the next month since the 30 days goes through when your next payment would be due (hopefully that makes sense..) So if you're looking to try club Pilates, you absolutely should! Plus, all the instructors at this location are incredibly sweet and make sure you get a good, safe workout. P.S. you will need grippy socks to do this, i got mine on amazon. They do sell them in the store area if you forget. Oh, and after your class everyone is responsible for wiping down the equipment they used during class. I like this because I know that it keeps the machines clean for all of us and it's comforting to know the last person also wiped it down before me! read more

I have been a faithful and enthusiastic member for one year and counting! Went as a guest and signed up for a membership the same day. I'm 71 yrs old and feel right at home. There is always a mix of ages. The instructors and the front desk staff are professional, friendly and provide individual attention. They will also modify any exercise for you if needed. Each class is a little different because there are so many ways to select and combine the moves. This keeps it fun and challenging. I have never been more toned and flexible. I'm a relative newbie to Pilates, and after doing my homework, I chose to join Club Pilates in Poway, and I couldn't be happier! The instructors are awesome, each is different and every class is just a bit different so you won't ever be bored! It's been about 10 months since I've joined Club Pilates Poway. I'm updating my review because today I took over 25,000 steps in New York which is roughly walking 11.5 miles. This is a newer studio. I usually go to the Rancho Bernardo location but it's been great to have the option to go between the 2 studios. The classes are wonderful and the teachers are great!
