At one point during my visit there was a guy being trained on the Pilates reformer, the step class AND a separate strength training class in ONE TINY room with no separation. As you can see in the photo those in the step class are steps from the reformers. So distracting!!! The conversation and commentary from the other classes were louder than the music at most times and they weren't even loud...they were just 5 steps away and the music was being played on a small google home. If you don't have the space and equipment to offer your customers the experience they are paying for why offer the class?? If I hadn't paid money to take this class this experience would just have been comically bad but I did. So unacceptable and cheap!

She truly understands bio-mechanics and how the body and mind work together. After suffering with lower back pain for years, and 3 rounds of Physical therapy with no improvement I switched over to Pilates and the improvements have been amazing. Switching from what I call "normal" Pilates to Alyssa was a HUGE step up. My herniated disc has caused my glutes to not fire correctly in certain movements which exacerbates back pain. Working with Alyssa has really helped my brain to help fire the glutes properly. Look bottom line is, she is not your standard Pilates instructor. Alyssa goes way beyond that. She's like a master of understanding the body. If you're a serious athlete, suffer from some form of pain, or just simply want to improve you're bodies functions and feel stronger in a way no other workout can do, Evolve and Elevate is perfect for you.

They all carry a 500hour comprehensive certification, while also being so friendly, kind, and helpful. I know group classes can be intimidating at first, but the instructors at Core really make everyone feel comfortable, seen, and safe. My favorite instructor here for the longest time has been April. She's so knowledgeable, sweet, and helpful, taking her classes are the best parts of my week. I've started branching out and taking other instructors' classes and honestly, I can't say enough great things about all of them. I also highly recommend trying all the different types of classes. Pilates is a system and we're supposed to use all the different apparatuses, don't be afraid to try them out! The studio itself has a cozy and inviting vibe. There are 2 floors, the ground level has 4 studio reformers, 5 exo chairs, a barrel, and a Cadillac. Upstairs has 5 allegro 2 reformers. Core Chicago has two floors for classes, and ours took place in the upstairs space. Our class held 4 people, so it's very intimate and makes it easy to get 1:1 attention with the instructor! Reform pilates classes can be super intimidating because the machinery looks like a medieval contraption to those of us newbs! Luckily for me, our instructor Maggie put any nerves I had at ease right away. She was SO welcoming and immediately walked me through the reformer and how we would be using it in this class. She also made a point to ask if I had any injuries or muscle/joint issues to be aware of. The class itself was so much fun, but still challenging. I loved being able to train my body in a new way, while also incorporating stretches and not being completely exhausted and burned out afterwards. Maggie assisted me every step along the way, and never made me feel bad for being new and totally clueless! She also showed me minor tweaks in form that made the BIGGEST difference. I really loved my class here overall and will definitely be back! It's a fun workout that's challenging and a great way to switch things up from the regular gym routine.

They have everything from full-size tennis courts, to a golf simulator-like set up,except you get to hit into an inflatable pillow! They also had plenty of Pickleball courts, and they offer so many different workout group classes.both a wet and dry, sauna, and tons of treadmills and free weights. I was also really impressed that they also had a physical training area. So think something that was my personal favorite and the best thing for Chicago Summers is a beautiful rooftop pool and lounge area. Not only did they have two outdoor pools (one for adults and one for kids) but they also have an indoor pool as well for winter as well as an indoor hot tub! They also had a common area workspace where people can come to take meetings and do their work from home gigs. You could practically move in here haha! As of right now, it is a $750 new membership fee as well as $295 a month, which is a pretty hefty chunk of change if you ask me considering most of the high rises around, have some kind of rooftop pool and workout area. It is cheaper if you join with a domestic partner or if you're between the ages of 16 and 29-see pic for current pricing. They also sometimes host social events which is super fun to meet everyone else in the club, but at the same time I think it is more of an investment in your future and your future health if you can afford it! I will not be joining at the moment, but hey-that could change anytime if I decide I should be on a health kick.

At $22 per session, the classes offer structured swim lessons at a more affordable rate compared to other local options. There is a chill vibe that works great for a 1st learner, but the level of rigor is lower than Goldfish so we switched there once we got off their wait list. Classes are sold in 5 week packages, and reschedules are not typically allowed. The class structure follows a set sequence of exercises. Instructors are friendly, but engagement is inconsistent. While they guide kids through various activities, the level of encouragement and feedback varies, with some instructors mentally checking out after providing initial directions. The UIC facility itself is quite nice - The water is comfortably warm and there are changing areas. Parking is available but paid for a few dollars. Note that your access is restricted to within 15 minutes of class time, so don't go too early. Though there are fewer opportunities for underwater practice and confidence-building dips, the parent/tot classes are primary about getting your kid comfortable in water. Overall, UIC Swim Classes deliver decent value for the price, though parents seeking a more intensive training that will get kids swimming faster may want to explore Goldfish.

Why hello, shiny new Pilates studio in West Loop! What good timing that you opened just in time for summer! As far as hobbies go, I pretty much live to eat and eat to work out. It's a real chicken and egg situation, no food pun intended. This rather symbiotic pair of interests brought me huffing and puffing in many studios around Chicago and other major cities. My unofficial but exceptionally thorough field study found Pilates to be the gold standard in fitness. Pilates offers something for everyone, whether you are new to movement or wanting to step up your game. The annoying part of this obsession is that it is really hard to find a studio or teacher that I like... This brings me back to Club Pilates... I booked a 30 min FREE intro with Erika. First impression: state of the art equipment. Really smart setup. Each station is self contained, meaning you get your own reformer, mat, chair, TRX, barre, foam roller and customizable tower. In traditional studios this setup only available for private or duet sessions, so huge + in my book. The instructor was lovely and very encouraging. And now I am sore in surprising areas of the body! 30 min flew by and now I am itching to come back and try a full session. If you live or work in the Loop, this place is beyond perfect for popping in for a full tune-up. I can't say enough great things about Club Pilates! After just under two months of attending, I can honestly say it's become one of my favorite parts of the week. I used to dread going to workout classes, but now I look forward to every session with excitement--it's truly become an escape from the day-to-day grind. From the moment I walked in, the warm and welcoming environment made all the difference. Stephanie, the manager, is such a friendly face who genuinely cares about making every member feel comfortable. She already knows me by name, and it's clear she's passionate about building a community. That personal touch, especially after such a short time, makes me feel like I'm truly a part of something special. Every instructor brings their own unique energy to class, and they really know how to make the workouts fun and engaging. In summer 2019, Groupon offered a free intro to Pilate's class. I'm in the early fifty's and have family history of diabetes and heart disease. In early summer lab work suggested was at risk for the aforementioned. My provider recommended "Pilates" but I've never tried Pilates! I finally got the courage to book the free session at the Club Pilates West Loop (CPWL) club. I cancelled several of my initial appointments with Emily and each time I did she would gently respond with "it's OK, but JUST TRY IT"! When I started Pilates it was intimidating and couldn't even do push-ups or stretch past my knees. Now in my 7th month my labs have gone down by 16-20 points. I feel healthy, strong and attitude has improved tremendously. I'm a Passport member and have visited other studios but the tender loving care and value received from the instructors and admin staff at the CPWS studio is just AWSOME! Whenever charges appear on my statements the admin immediately address any/all concerns or issues and never been a time when my needs have not been made a priority. I recently returned to pilates after focusing on other kinds of workouts for the past few years and I'm so glad I did! I didn't have any experience with a reformer (and I was kind of skeptical) but it's simple to pick up and adds a lot more to the workout. I'm a convert. I like to go in the morning, especially to Nikita's class, because I leave feeling like my alignment and posture is in check for the rest of the day. I've been a member at Club Pilates in the West Loop for about three years and I highly recommend this studio. The quality of instruction and variety of classes offered is great. No matter what level you're at there are options that fit your skill set. I had two major knee surgeries and pilates became an evolution of my physical therapy. It helped me build back strength in my legs and really helped my progress and recovery. I always feel taken care of and looked after. The staff know most people by name. I took an intro class with Erika and that shit was dope AF. My impression of pilates was founded on early 2000's infomercials that looked nothing like what goes on in this studio. Instead they've got springs and pulleys and ropes and bouncy balls. It is basically how you would imagine it if the dude from 50 shades of grey was in to working out instead of sex. read more

When you book a class, you get the spot assigned to you so no need to rush 10-15 mins prior. These spots are already marked up. Seems like they stopped overbooking people which was great. When I used to visit back in 2022, it used to be very overcrowded. The studio is spacious, super clean and provides complimentary mats and fresh towels. The music is very upbeat and makes you want to push your limits . The temp inside feels just about right for that extra challenge. I absolutely recommend if you're looking for a yoga workout!

What's made it even better is that I go with my fiancée, and we've been doing these classes together. With a full-time job and a growing business, it's not easy to carve out time for myself--but the 35-minute classes at Basecamp make it possible. The workouts are efficient, effective, and always different. The coaches bring genuine energy and motivation every day, and their consistency has kept me showing up, even on the busiest days. One of the best parts? The community vibe is real, but never forced. You're surrounded by people who are pushing themselves, and it makes the environment that much more inspiring. I'm only three months into my 12-month commitment, but the results--both physically and mentally--are already kicking in. If you're in the West Loop and looking for the best gym to fit into a busy lifestyle while still leveling up your fitness, Basecamp is it.

Anyway, I worked out with Aimee for my first session and have subsequently been working with Lizzie, my now regular instructor. Philosophy wise, WP teaches contemporary Pilates. To the classical snobs, this may not be considered "pilates." Classical people still teach as if we were still in the pre-Civil War era. What you do get with a contemporary workout is a very customized lesson plan - definitely not of the cookie cutter variety. Lizzie is very knowledgable of the human body, and can adapt the workouts to meet each client's needs and their pathologies. She keeps things fun and interesting I always feel like I've accomplished something following the session and my body aches in a good way. I also leave happy, unlike with my prior experience at that other place. Most importantly, she actually listens to you and your needs. Private lessons aren't cheap ($80/hour), but I've found them definitely worthy the money. The setup and the atmosphere of the studio is very welcoming. Its definitely a comfortable place to workout, and I like their variety of equipment (Balanced Body reformers and chairs, cadillac and two towers). In any case, I'd highly recommend WP to anybody looking for a good workout and to strengthen your core. I'm a PT by profession, and I wouldn't hesitate to refer my clients here for post rehab work, knowing that they'd be well taken care of! If I had a complaint or two, I wish they had a water dispenser and towels on hand.

I've been a loyal member of CorePower Yoga and regularly attend classes at the Old Town studio…read moreevery Monday, especially Lindsey's incredible Yoga Sculpt sessions -- she's truly one of the best instructors I've ever had. Unfortunately, my recent experience has left me deeply disappointed and questioning my commitment to this location. During a class on March 17, 2025, my winter jacket and shoes -- together worth approximately $900 -- were stolen from the locker area. I had no choice but to use an open, unlockable locker because all the others were either broken or occupied -- a serious problem, especially at a studio with two active classrooms and simultaneous sessions. Even after the class ended and the studio was empty, one locker remained locked -- clearly being used for storage outside of class hours, further limiting availability. The studio manager did offer an apology and mentioned that he would request access to the security footage to support an investigation. While I appreciated the quick acknowledgment, that's where the support ended. No offer of compensation, no help in dealing with the immediate impact -- I had to walk home barefoot in the cold and rain of a Chicago evening. It felt like a box was checked, rather than real care shown. What made the situation worse is that I was told I can't view the footage myself and that it would only be shared with law enforcement. As the person directly affected, I find this lack of transparency and limited cooperation extremely frustrating -- especially since I'm trying to recover my own belongings. I also train at the Gold Coast location on Fridays, where all the lockers are functional and the setup is far more organized -- and that's in a studio with just one classroom. The discrepancy between the two locations is stark, and it's unacceptable that a flagship location like Old Town hasn't addressed basic issues like locker maintenance and secure storage. CorePower charges premium prices and promises a premium experience. I expected better -- and deserved better.
