I would never deny paying my dues but asked if they could slash the rate because of all the confusion or waive the fees as a onetime excuse the lady in the counter told me there was another time I didn't pay for a class which is untrue , she could have just said unfortunately we can't give u a discount or waive the fee. I am sad about customer service which is lacking and such a key factor to any small business. I was charged $28 for a class which is ridiculous!!! read more

I have done 60 min hot yoga classes but not a 90 minute one so I was determined and a bit nervous about this class. There were a few new types of breathing and moves I wasn't used to. I lesrned a few new things and was surely challenged. I felt very refreshed and loved the instruction that was provided. read more

I was visiting Chicago and came here on a deal. So glad I found this place! The classes are hot ++++ yasss! They have really nice restrooms and locker rooms. They have showers, yay! The classes were good but follow the same 26 yoga moves, similar to a yoga place I went to back home which I kinda got tired of. I also took the Pilates class which was awesome! I've never taken a hot yoga (or hot anything) class before and man this is quite the workout! I tried out hot Pilates and hot yoga and it was tough but worth making it through the end. I preferred the hot Pilates class but that's probably because I prefer Pilates as a workout normally. The location is super convenient for me and there is plenty of locker space. It's a nice and clean facility. I was surprised it only opens about 15 minutes prior to class time, so I waited patiently in the chairs downstairs. This facility is located on the second floor of an old train station. Lockers and showers were roomy and spacious. The yoga room is large and extremely bright. Very hot and moist. The borrowed mats were in good shape, and were odor free. I was visiting as an out of town guest, so the daily fee with mat rental was somewhat expensive. I practice hot yoga daIly at home for several years. This was my first Bikram experience and it was not what I expected. That being said, it was a great work out but I don't think I'll be a fan of Bikram. read more

I have been coming to 105F studios for years and highly recommend. They are great not just for hot yoga but also their hot Pilates (Inferno Pilates) classes. The one hour workout is great, fun cardio and the instructors have great play lists. Our instructor was David. The class was a good workout but we had some issues with our instructor. Me and my friend who took this class and are both younger and have not worked out in a while. We explained this to David and he gave us minimal instruction on where to set our stuff down. He then proceeded to get visibly irritated multiple times during the class and after. He muttered under his breath,rolled his eyes, and made hand gestures, as well as asking where she was going. This was because we had to use the rest room and my friend had to get her gatorade. We did not know we had to wait at the door during movement in order not to "disrespect the class". I have taken many yoga classes and this has never happened before. If this was the expectation I would have appreciated being told before the class or at least not told with attitude in a that could have stopped us from getting water in -105 degree heat as beginners. The vibe was off! He did not do any of the movement with us as well which seemed off. He pulled my friend to the side after the class to scold her about our tardiness and how she needed to leave to get something to drink. She clarified that she needed her gatorade which he then backtracked saying of course she needed to stay hydrated - but not to disrespect the class. This rule needed to be mentioned before class (in a kind way) for SAFETY. The way he handled this could have stopped someone from hydrating or leaving the class and having a health emergency. I popped in for a class while visiting from out of town so I did not miss my usual Saturday morning practice. I like my classes very hot - this place is just not hot at all. Or maybe the heat was broken or this teacher keeps it mild. I was waiting for the heat to kick on or for someone to complain that the heat was broken. And yes, it stinks. But a lot of people that do the 26 postures/ bikram practice as used to that, so it may be fine. The teacher (John) clearly knows the practice well and seems very experienced. However, he did not acknowledge one person during the 90 minute class; just not the norm for me. Most places I go the teachers know the names of the students and make adjustments and specific corrections to each. He was basically like a recording from an iPod and not present in the room. No energy. Never left podium, never raised voice. May as well have been a podcast of a teacher. Maybe he was having a bad day, cause it's clear he is well versed in this practice. Not sure this is ideal for new students needing to learn the practice though. However, this place seems to have good reviews, so maybe this was an off class on an off day with broken heat and is normally a lot better. Probably won't come again next time I am in town though as for $30 (class+ mat+towel, when traveling), it was lackluster. read more

"Uhm...I took em off-like my shirt. It's hot:" "Uhm, yeah. I'm going to need you to put those back on. What you're wearing is inappropriate for class." "Really?! Uh...ok." "Wow. You got Em off so fast-you're like 'Speedy Gonzalez!'" ... "What?! Did you seriously just...?" And that's when I walked out! I was wearing a speedo and she was wearing a equally skin tight, teal and orange (yes) spaghetti strapped SWIM SUIT! Ya know-like a girl speedo. Why does she work there? Why is she able to insult and uninspire people? Please, someone teach HER that kindness is more yogic. Compassion inspires. Embarrassing someone in an environment where people come to grow and learn is not only counterintuitive-it's damaging. You also might want to loosen your rather provincial grip on what you consider "right" and "wrong" as it applies to not only one's attire but their entire practice of yoga. Welcome to your reality sweetheart: it's okay that you're racist and sexist but you shouldn't be a bully. Especially not in a yoga studio. read more

I came in for a class pass session -- Bikram style hot yoga class. The studio is great and there was plenty of room for everyone. The lights were turned on a bit higher than I'd like. Seeing others fall out of positions makes it harder to keep them. The more dim lighting would have helped with this. The instructor was fantastic. The lockerrooms were okay, but kinda small with everyone changing, showering, etc. It's an intimate space- to put it nicely. There is only one hair dryer so keep that in mind. Overall, it's an okay studio and nice but others (corepower) are a bit better in comparison. read more

These are the friendliest people I've ever met at a gym/fitness place. I'm new like most and they were very welcoming and helpful and give great reinforcement. The facilities are top notch - and super clean - and the classes are really affordable. I got started on the Groupon pass (boo for work travel 2 of the 6 unlimited weeks) and will be buying a class card when my pass expires. I didn't find it difficult to figure out the poses - just hard to get my body to bend that way - based on the verbal instruction. It's pretty easy to tell which class members are regulars or more experienced and I keep my eyes on them for examples. I find the 60 minute class to be as challenging as the 90 because the pace is faster, but I feel like the 90 gives me more of a chance to learn and re-try the poses which is good for a beginner. I live 1/2 a block away so don't need to fight for the showers, but I can see how just 2 might require extra time if you're wanting to use them. read more

I feel guilty never having written a review for 105F as it has been my sanctuary for nearly 12 years. My wife (gf) at the time brought me here when I was 24. I hated every moment of it but knew that it was what I needed for both my body and mind. The practice helped me find discipline in other areas of my life that I was lacking (punctuality, respect for others time, awareness of my nutrition and hydration, understanding that the world does not stop b/c I couldn't be disciplined with my time, meeting my body where it was at today, just showing up etc...) It's funny, howe we want the truth be we don't want the truth. The consistency of the same poses for the original 90/60m have allowed me to actually develop strength and consistency in my asanas. The other classes offered are also excellent. The instructors have always been supportive, nurturing and respectful to my guests and I. I've practiced many different styles of yoga all over the world and country and I've found the environment and instruction at 105f to be excellent for my needs and a great foundation for new practitioners. The studio is always clean and vibes are always on point. Also they did online classes for us during this whole COVID-19 pandemic. Much respect to all that make this place happen. Nothing but gratitude! P.S. The "essence" of what yoga is about is within the individual practitioner. Studios and teachers are just your facilitators and guides. I love this Bikram Yoga studio. It's tough but feels rewarding by the end. All of the instructors are great but I especially like Aura because she encourages us, adjusts us when needed so we can get better, and doesn't have us hold poses for too long. Based on my Apple Watch, I burn 700-1000 calories per class, depending on the day. That totally makes the 90 minutes worth it for me! read more

I have attended classes at this studio a number of times. The studio is clean, the staff is friendly and helpful. Almost all the yoga instructors here are fantastic. Most of them are friendly, encouraging and motivating. I have done quite a bit of hot yoga, in multiple studios and having a great instructor lead the class, is the difference between loving it and hating it. And I love almost all the instructors at this location. This studio has showers and locker room, which gets quite crowded during the evening class time. I am loving Bikram here! When it comes to my enjoyment of (and sometimes ability to just survive/tolerate the heat associated with) Bikram, I've learned the instructors make all the difference. Every place will offer the same 26 postures, the same hour and a half class, the same hot room. But, I love the attention to detail here, and how the instructors will vary from script to ensure they're giving students all the corrections and tips they need to get the most out of class. I go to the noon or 4 PM classes since I dig smaller class sizes, and it almost feels like private instruction, since the instructors are so in tune with what their students are doing. The cues always come at the perfect time, and will seem tailored to you. The hot room is spacious and clean, but the locker rooms can get a little tight, especially before and after the busier night time classes. Oh, and there's only two showers, so budget extra time if you need one. There are locks on the lockers so that's one less thing you need to worry about, especially when you're like me, dragging in a mat, a towel for my mat, a towel for me, and two bottles of water. Better yet, the staff and students are so friendly. I have not gotten attitude from one person yet, and always find myself chatting it up with newly made friends after class. The instructors are always happy to answer my questions after class, too. I dig this place so much I'm even thinking of treating myself to a private lesson, just so I can get the most out of class. Yup, this place is that good. Note: If it is your first Bikram class ever, Carey is your man. For my first class at the studio he gave the best, most detailed instruction of the first few poses to help me along and get me back into the swing of things. His delivery, attention to detail, and knowledge of the poses is the perfect way to break a newbie in ;) read more

So I've only been here once, but I learned more in this one session than I have learned after going to CPY for months. I told the instructor I was new, and he was so helpful and gave me a lot of individual attention throughout the class. It made me feel kind of self conscious but the corrections were constructive. Even though I will always be a huge fan of CPY, I felt as though it did not prepare me at all for the rigors of a real Bikram session. Candles and soothing music? Not here. I was a bit startled by the florescent lighting and the instructor rattling off poses like an auctioneer. I also felt like I was going to die about 50% of the time. But in a good way. An overwhelming majority of the people in this class appeared to be in excellent shape, which either speaks to the results one might expect from a class like this, or to the fact that only hard core fitness freaks are willing to subject themselves to 105 degree heat for 90 minutes. My tips for first timers: Get there early so you can figure out parking, bring 2 water bottles, let the instructor know you are new, and sit in the back corner so you don't distract anyone else when you have to take a rest or pass out. You won't die, and you'll feel better after coming here. I'm taking off one star for the frustrating parking options. read more

I'll give this another try. I'm giving this 3 stars because the studio is gorgeous with nice locker rooms, showers and amenities. I didn't have the great first timers experience the other Yelpers did. Perhaps it was my instructor and perhaps it's because I didn't know what to expect. I've done Yoga before but have never sat in a Sauna for an 90 minutes. I began to feel nauseous and was instructed 'to wait until we all took water together'. If I didn't hydrate I'm sure I would've either vomited or passed out. I went with the water. After a while I wasn't feeling great and decided, 30 minutes was enough. I was instructed to sit down. I didn't hear 'many first timers feel this way and wasn't encouraged by the group.' I wasn't discouraged I just felt this was a unique experience to me and was starting to think that I'm not a Bikram Yoga kind of girl. I sat on my towel for a while as I was instructed to do but after a while decided to leave because I felt silly just sitting there. The instructor talked us through the poses vs doing them with us. In all other Yoga classes I've attended the instructor has led the group by doing the poses which is a great visual. This could be unique to Bikram, I'm not sure. I'll definitely give it another try, now knowing more of what to expect. The instructors aren't listed with the class schedule time. I hope to get someone different to see if I get a different experience. read more

I really love this studio. I was not new to Yoga but was definitely new to Bikram. What an amazing experience, and right in the neighborhood! I truly had a transformative experience in my very first class and find this style of Yoga incredibly freeing and healing. All of the instructors I've experienced are great, but I'm really partial to Charles. He has a manner that is incredibly inspiring. I also like the "no judgment" vibe. Every class I've been to, it always feels like everyone simply wants you to do your best. The heat is not as oppressive as you think it will be, and as you relax more & see how your body is responding to it, you'll welcome it. I had a groupon and there are only a limited number of classes you can take at this facility under the deal, but I have enjoyed the experience so much that I plan to continue classes after the deal is over. If you're looking for a new and challenging experience, I highly recommend this spot. It's a great supplement to my regular workout regimen. read more

This place is great but do remember this is 105 F hot yoga. Normal hot yoga is 90F. When I first tried it it was very hot and hard to stand. I suggest to try out a 60 mins one before you do a 90 mins. Other than that, it's good location nice people bright room. read more

I attended a class over Easter weekend while visiting town. I should point out that I'm a regular yogi-I practice Bikram at home 4 times a week or more. First, the good-the studio is beautiful. It's in an old train depo and the hot room has high ceilings and the temp/humidity is well maintained. The locker room has lockers with locks, and the merchandise selection is great-I bought an awesome sweatshirt and yoga top. On the downside though, the discipline here is absolutely terrible. As an experienced yogi I was able to ignore the commotion around me and have a good class, but I strongly discourage newbies from coming here to learn the practice. Multiple people left class before the end (and these were regulars, not newbies), one guy paced the back of the room during the last few standing poses, and yogis regularly went into more advanced portions of the postures when they clearly couldn't do the base foundation. The instructor seemed unfazed by this and did not correct anyone or stop anyone from leaving. In the locker room, I heard one woman admit that she regularly bails from classes early if she's 'not feeling it.' None of this is appropriate Bikram discipline. I was most stunned by the woman who noisily left after spine twist-there's one more pose, you can't stay 3 more minutes?! In sum, if you are an experienced Bikram yogi looking for a place in the loop to practice while in town, this will suit fine; find a corner and focus on your own practice and you'll have a good class. If you are new to Bikram though, I'd recommend finding a more disciplined studio to learn to practice properly, because they don't teach it here. read more

I have been doing Bikram yoga for a while now, and was so excited to see there is now a South Loop location! The facility is gorgeous, clean, welcoming, supportive and helpful. The teachers rotate between the other locations LP and Wicker Park, so there were familiar faces. The teachers are all top notch! I prefer to go in the morning. The studio is not crowded and it is a wonderful start of the day! The only problem is if you must drive.... and I refuse to take away a star for this because everything else is perfect. Parking is $6. on the street for two hours. There is some zone parking, but not before 11AM. I have no idea why. There is a surface lot down the street where you can park for $2. after 4PM...confusing right. Anyway, I love bikram so much that i will just bite the bullet and adjust to the parking situation. The studio is very close to the RED line however..easy access...and if you bike..even better! read more

Alright, so let's get down to business. I've been practicing Bikram Yoga on and off for roughly 5 or so years. I've never been that consistent with it. But to be completely honest, it's just because it's so damn expensive to me. But I do really enjoy it This is only the second studio that I've been to but what brought me was the great groupon deal I got! I believe it's 5 weeks unlimited for $55. Fantastic! I went to go my first day and I thought the class started at 12:30 so I get there, and the place is locked. Goddamn it. I even uber'd there so I would get there on time since I was running late. And so I immediately had to do so again within 10 minutes of the first one, not fun for me or my wallet. When I returned the next day, I came to realize the staff is very friendly and the facility is just clean and tidy in general. The common area is cute with a little shop for all your yogi needs ranging from books, to mats, to clothing, to water bottles. What more could you need! I can't speak for the men's locker room but I'm guessing it's similar to the ladies. Similar in the fact that it is extremely clean! Love it! I also adore the lockers with the keys, since the last place I went to they were just open cubbies so the lockers provide a lot more security! The instructors have all been great at what they do, and I can't say I've had a bad class thus far. I mean, I don't really expect to! I've done both the Smart 60 and Regular 90 class and I can say I think I still enjoy the Regular 90. I've only had the chance to go to one of the 90's but that has been my best/most successful class thus far. I'm looking forward to these next few weeks! Thanks 105f! read more

Last week I came to the South Loop Bikram Yoga studio for a class. This was my very first Bikram class and, although I practiced each of the poses beforehand so as not to make a total ass of myself, I still basically turned each of the 26 poses into the awkward pose. The instructor, whose name eludes me, was very attentive and focused. I even witnessed her go out and bring a student some water. She checked in on several people who seemed like they needed a break. Nothing escaped her. This is the kind of attention I think this (105 degree!) environment demands and I applaud her for it. Very clean, well organized facility, and friendly, professional staff. So my friend tells me yoga is gay. I tell him to let me know when being the only guy in a hot sweaty room full of girls isn't gay anymore. But anyways, coming from Austin, TX, I have to say the ratio of guys to girls is much smaller in Chicago. No real complaints there, I'm sure other guys have better things to do (like pump iron for 3 hours at a gym). For me, the problem with Bikram Yoga is that I only go when my body needs it. The problem there is that I only go when my body is in no condition to be doing it. That being said, another Bikram Yoga session, awful wonderful. No, that's not a grammatical mistake. It's always awful for 90 minutes, and then wonderful all after. The instructor's commentary here is more straight-laced than other yoga studios I've been to. Very instructive and to the point, but I kind of miss the jokes here and there. There was one point where the instructor (I believe it was Alicia) said to pretend that someone is pulling on you. My mind immediately pictured the Braveheart scene where William Wallace was being stretched apart by horses. And then the resolve came to me to push through the poses and not let the torture engulf me. Finally, when it as all done, I let cry one last "FREEEEEEEDOOOOOM" (in my head, at least). read more

Would do 3.5 stars if I could. As a student in the area, it's great to have a hot yoga studio just a block away from my apartment, even though it's more expensive than regular yoga studios in the area. The classes are a great workout and it's a very clean space. Prior to today I hadn't had an unpleasant experience, but one of the instructors today (Katie, who wasn't even teaching the class I went to today) was extremely rude after I got out of class for the day. Even though other (older, and I'm guessing have been members longer than I) students left before I, I was scolded rudely for not leaving until 15 seconds later when everyone else did. This was relatively minor, but then she came over again. I had placed my mat in one of the bins to hold for me until my next class, planning on telling the front desk before I leave. "Yeah, those are for members only. You can't put that there. That's for someone else." I then showed her that it was an open spot, and expressed how I would like to use it and pay. She rolled her eyes and continued to talk to me very rudely and condescendingly. I went to the locker room to change. As I was leaving, I see her tap one of the older members and proceed to talk about it to her. Really?? Everyone else here has been extremely pleasant and welcoming, but Today I wasn't treated fairly, assumingly because Miss Katie didn't think I was a full time member yet. Shame on you, Katie! Even though I'm a new student (also 18) who isn't paying hundreds of dollars a year here doesn't mean I don't deserve to be treated fairly and kindly. This is a yoga studio, after all. If you're going to treat people rudely, go be a cashier at Walmart down the street. read more

What makes the place exceptional is the staff. I just started at the Lincoln Park studio a week before they opened here, and I've felt completely welcomed and watched out for the whole way. Any time I have questions about the poses, they give directions that make me feel better the next time through. Bikram yoga itself has been a revelation! I feel stronger, sexier, and more at peace than I ever have before. I could see physical changes within the first week! The studio is in historic Dearborn Station, and it's beautiful. The locker room, though very narrow, has locking lockers and two showers. The hot room has high, visually interesting ceilings -- a definite plus, given how much time we spend staring at them! It's spacious and gently lit, so no direct lights to blind you during savasana. The floors are basically made of yoga mat material, so no need to turn the towel for the legs-apart part of the standing series, and no funky carpet stank. Walk or bike if possible; there is no free parking to be had without blowing your week's allotment of luck. Their website (105f.com) mentions a lot nearby that's only $2 after a certain time, though. Now through May 1st, they're offering beginners a 1st-month unlimited rate of $29; in May, it goes up to $39. They just started a 30-day challenge - you can sign up through April 15th! Make it all 30 days and you get 20% off of a monthly package, or $20 off of the $111 auto-pay monthly unlimited package. read more

I found this yoga studio 2 years ago through a friend from France who was in Chicago on holidays and had to get her yoga fix. Luckily she found this place, I joined and ever since I am a fan. I love original 90 and like all teachers. It is a really good workout. Plus the location is great and convenient. There are also such advantages as you can get filtered water for free and changing rooms are clean and convenient. I am emphasizing this because I have been in other studios where those two things were not present. I have no complaints whatsoever. Definitely recommend to come here if you are looking for a good hot yoga class. read more

I started doing bikram yoga here in February because I have recurring back pain. I am now hooked! The facilities are great. Very clean locker rooms with free lockers you can safely put your things in. The location is very convenient, with the #6 bus a few blocks away. My favorite instructor is Maura because she has a good pace when doing poses and she walks around to correct people individually. My only complaint is that is seems different instructors set the temperature to varying levels. I saw one guy had the temperature at 112 degrees! I can't really take that kind of heat, but most of the time it has been fine. My best advice for newbies is to not worry the first couple of classes about doing everything. Just relax and get used to the heat. Try not to fidget because you waste energy and lose focus. As you continue coming, it will definitely get easier to stay in the room. I make it my goal each class to improve one thing, whether it's stretching a little farther down, or holding something for a little bit longer. I never thought I'd be able to do Standing Head to Knee or Toe Stand, but after a few months I can! It's amazing how each time I come, I notice something else about the way the pose makes my body feel. I always leave class feeling refreshed and revitalized. My upper back pain from sitting at my desk all day has definitely gotten better as my core muscles have strengthened and my back has been stretched. It is a bit expensive, but the benefits of going regularly make it worth it. read more

I came to this studio the first time about 6 months ago and loved it. The first class is always a challenge but after a few classes and practice at home I am much better. I would recommend Bikram Yoga to everyone, it was the catalyst to my now 20+ pound weight loss. The studio is clean and the staff is courteous. I can't say enough good things about this place. I was new to yoga, never done it before, let alone in 105 degrees. Of course the first day I went I was the only first timer, I was so nervous. The instructor even asked me about it being my first time in front of everyone. *eek*. But then he gave me a few pointers and urged me to just do by best. I immediately felt at ease. Throughout the class the instructor continued to encourage me and help me with my poses. When it got too hot and I had to lay down while everyone continued with the poses the instructor again encouraged me and told me I was doing great. He said the first time he did hot yoga he spent more time laying down than doing poses. For all I know he could have been lying, but frankly I don't care, it made me feel better. When class was over, the instructor again told me I did a great job for my first time. This first experience is true of every time I go. The instructors are nice, encouraging, and helpful. Dear Bikram 105f, Small, but well equipped. Clean and hot. Temperature is important. Love the floor, which provides additional support, as opposed to harder types. Honestly I don't know why this place has a 4.5 rating. I do agree that the bathrooms, shower and changing rooms are clean and it has very friendly staff. It is also nice that you get lockers with keys to store personal items. However, I have to agree with other comments that this studio SMELLS UNBEARABLE from the moment you step in! Also, the room lighting makes you feel even hotter than 105 degrees. There is no music or candles. The instructors usually stand in front of the class and start talking in a very fast pace until the end. After each class, my entire outfit smells like old molded hard floor and it was disgusting. read more
