Owner is probably the cheapest one out of all of the yoga six's. Only one that doesn't have a working sound system for the instructors and won't fix it and it's been broken for over a year and a half. Got into a bad car accident and tried cancelling my membership because I can't go due to the injuries and they want medical documents stating it which is not right. Try to squeeze every penny out of you they can. I will say the instructors are great just the owner is very cheap and doesn't like to fix things. I had knee surgery two years ago, and after a long period of convalescence, I returned to yoga in early June at Yoga Six. I started with the slow flow classes, and they were exactly what the doctor ordered. Slow, intentional, and a really nice return to alignment and technique that many faster flow and power classes overlook. I especially enjoyed classes with Sho who, is not only a package of joyful, vibrant energy (and incredibly funny!), but someone who takes her job really serious. I was grateful to be able to study with her. Her class playlists are always on point, too! Maria and Sofia's classes have been quite wonderful too and really showcase yoga their training and intentionality as instructors. As others have said on here, I especially liked how diverse the studio is. It reminded me that yoga doesn't have to just be a new age style of internalized experience, but one that is motivated by a sense of fun and community. I love the diversity of ages and bodies in the class, the events that are constantly being hosted, and the humor and fun that unfolds while we're all crying through five minutes of pigeon pose. I am so glad I came upon this studio in Hyde Park! I highly recommend that you try it out! The front desk personnel will welcome you in with a gift and a free class, and the intro offer after will slowly ease you into the habit of yoga. read more

Yogasix in Hyde park has me feeling like part of the family. Every staff member I've interacted with has been kind and welcoming. The studio is always clean. I've done two classes so far. both have been amazing. The first was very manageable as I am just getting back into my healthy journey. the second had me almost crawling back to my car!! lol but that's what I signed up for. I love that they have classes for every stage of your practice. I also enjoy the music the Instructors select. I'm looking forward to my next class. read more

The instructors are nice but the classes are crowded and you don't get a lot of attention or correction on your form. The relax and stretch classes are held after high intensity classes meaning the rooms smell and are very warm during practice. Air filtration is not great either (and I got sick from attending classes after I removed my mask to try and breathe with the heat). The cancelation process has been a nightmare -- email them and don't call or stop by the studio. They don't return phone calls. There are better yoga and pilates studios in Hyde Park that are more individualized and less corporate. read more

Okay let me start with the good. I love how diverse the classes are, that is so important as a person of color to be able to go to a studio and see people who look like you taking and instructing the classes. You don't have to have that thought of "Am I welcome here?" in the back of your mind nagging you . Second, I took two classes because I had a three class package that I purchased on a promotional type thing. And I really loved both of the classes, it felt like they flew by and I was pretty relaxed leaving and honestly after I left the last class I was pretty sure that I was coming back. And then the thing that stopped me from taking my last class..... It actually started before I even took my first class and it was the text messages that I got from the studio before I even signed up for my classes after I have purchased a package. I got like six text messages and emails within the first week of purchasing my package to remind me to sign up for the classes. That is some heavy-handed marketing, it was irritating because it is 20:25 I know how to get on a computer and sign up for something that I paid for. Then I got phone calls and the woman who I spoke to was really sweet and I'm just going to assume that it was her job to be assertive when it comes to getting people to sign up for the classes. But I actually don't like that. I'm so busy And I was accidentally answering the phone calls, lol. Because I work in an industry where a lot of people call me and I will not have their numbers saved in my phone, but I don't want to pass up business so I really hate when I get phone calls from people who are not priorities of mine. Then I finally go to the class and after I walk out I'm all chill and then when I'm just thinking they are being sweet and finding out how the class went for me on a personal note, I quickly realized that they were just trying to get me to sign up for a long-term membership. I mentioned that I would possibly be interested in a membership but I wanted to try the class out first, but I really appreciate being able to do that on my own time. And sis hit me with the " was REALLY stopping you from joining?" And I had already answered honestly which was I was looking at different yoga studios in the area. And when she asked me which ones ( also why do you care which ones) I mentioned a yoga studio that I had been eyeing in the neighborhood and she told me that they were closed down. Well a couple of days later I ended up looking into it and that yoga studio was in fact not at all closed down and very active and they had cheaper rates and more class availability than this studio. I just really didn't like that, it left a bad taste in my mouth. I am pretty introverted and I don't like being bombarded with sales. I will walk out of a store if a salesperson is too heavy-handed with things. This is already corporate yoga and it was feeling very much like that, it was given capitalist yoga. I don't think that that energy, embodies with yoga is really about. There was absolutely no flow it was all force when it came to getting people to sign up. Now again, I am sure that these people are very lovely, one of the girls who I met there the first day was super sweet, actually they were both really sweet. It's just the tactic of sales was not vibing with me. so if anybody gave them like a five-star review, you can absolutely still trust that, I'm not negating anything that someone might say about the The classes or the people here being great. But they are going to be heavy-handed with the sales, and it feels like the relationships are canned, and it's canned niceness as opposed to somebody authentically caring about your health and your well-being and not the bottom dollar of the studio... Because why would you lie like that about that other studio being closed, lol that was bogus. read more

I have been consistently going to YogaSix Hyde Park for several weeks now and it's fantastic. The workouts are great, the studio is really clean, and the staff is really nice. My favorite class is the Sculpt and Flow. It's a perfect mix of yoga and light weights. I will admit that before going to my first class I was a little nervous about the room being heated but the temperature is really manageable. It's warm enough to make sure your muscles are loose and for you to get a good sweat. All the instructors are great! Sho is my favorite. She is going to make sure you get a great workout. read more

I took the session sculpt and flow with Sho (instructor) and it was def a workout! It's a high intensity yoga workout that involves weights and yoga blocks. Sho will keep you on your toes! She's energetic and funny, and challenges you to work harder! You will need to bring your own yoga mat or you can rent one. It was 80-85 degrees in the room so you will def work up a sweat even my legs were sweating! read more

I'm in town visiting family and saw Sharon's YogaSix studio in Hyde Park on my evening walk. I was missing my Black woman owned Pilates and yoga studio Movement Matters Collective back home in San Diego and needed a good yoga and stretch session. I noticed that YogaSix was Black woman owned and wanted to support. I decided to check out the evening restorative yoga flow and yogi Sean came thru. It was one of the best classes I've had, he sets a tranquil space and vibe, and his knowledge of body movement, energy flow and transitions is healing. I highly recommend checking it out for the perfect relaxing ending to a busy day or previous week. I also went to his sound bath and his use of the sound bowl and gong frequencies is masterful. It helped me get in tune with my body on a chakra and cellular level, you can feel the re-alignment as it takes place. Sharon is very welcoming, even taking the time to talk to me about her studio when she technically wasn't open yet for the day. YogaSix is def my new go to studio when I'm in town, do yourself a favor and check out a class with Sean and the many offerings Sharon provides. read more

I've been a regular weekly client since this studio opened and have been generally very satisfied, with the exception of two injuries which I do not blame on the instructors. Since a recent change in managers, however, three of my classes have been cancelled in the span of three weeks -- and one of them was a replacement for a cancelled class! Don't instructors have an obligation to find a sub if they must cancel a class??? I don't want to travel outside the neighborhood for yoga classes, but I may have to after using the classes I've already purchased if this problem continues. read more

I had not exercised for six years. My body felt like I was 80. I have a herniated disc and severe arthritis in my knees. I was at the point where after taking stem cell therapy for my knees, I was ready for surgery. I decided to try yoga before I threw in the towel. I was afraid that some poses might be too much for my knees, but they have a restore class that has been PHENOMENAL. I was moving so much better after one session. The environment is very welcoming to all body types and levels. It is very nonjudgmental. If you go, take a class with Sho. She is AMAZING. Everything about her is awesome. She takes the time to assist with positions with your permission. Her voice is made for late night radio, so getting into stress-free calm zone is easy. She educates you on how to notice your body and positions or shapes to work for you personally. She also dispenses some witticisms here and there. It's a truly wonderful experience. The facility is new, clean, with attached parking. They validate parking for two hours. read more

Very poor customer service by owner. This business doesn't save customers information in cash register computer, so that when you go back for refund or exchange, no information is found. Has store policy's hidden on a small sheet of paper, so when you attempt to explain yourself, she can conveniently pull out that sheet of paper, and mind you that is the only place where store policy's are shared. Absolutely nothing is refundable at this location so be aware she uses shark tactics as customer service. read more

Loved the studio and the vibe! I went to the Hot session, and it's an original flow different from the traditional Hot 26 I've done at other places. It felt easier - more like a vinyasa and more accessible, definitely beginner friendly! Although I do hope, since it feels so much like a vinyasa practice, the flow can change different classes/instructors. But it seems like every instructor leads the same sequence. read more

I used to do yoga at least 2-3 times a week in NYC and had a hard time finding a place I felt comfortable going to since being in Chicago. This is the perfect place. The teacher Sho was filled with so much energy and authenticity. My body was definitely challenged especially being out of practice for years. I will definetly be coming back. read more

Unfortunately the business practices of this studio is atrocious. They do not honor their policies and make it impossible to cancel your membership without being charged for several months. I initially wanted to support this studio as an alternate to the other studios in Hyde Park. However with their inconsistent class offerings and their weird schedule of classes it made it near impossible to use my $109+ monthly membership. I was charged for 2 additional months and refunded for one only to have the next month be taken out of my account again. Beware of the fraudulent business practices of this particular studio. They still have some training and room to grow. read more

The policy on canceling membership is ridiculous in that attempting to cancel will cause forced membership payment for a full month or cancel on the day you register so the 30 day wait won't cost you another month. That fee for me was over $140.00! So I registered in September. The extremely minimal number of classes meant that nothing was available 11:30 - 5 or 6pm weekdays. These are hours that I have free time more often than not. One must pay more to have the UNLIMITED MEMBERSHIP honored at other Y6 locations. And lastly, after my first class, I learned about the 10 - $15 "NO SHOW" fee from reading a note on the bathroom wall. I never registered for individual classses on any given day because of the NO SHOW. I simply called to see if there was space for one and never was the class I wanted full whether am or pm. read more

Great local studio with excellent teachers. This was my first class with Pattie and I enjoyed her style. Class almost felt like a cross between Y6 restore and Y6 slow flow. Her cueing was precise and I left feeling floaty and amazing. Slow flow class is gently heated. It's a modern style yoga studio with music and lights so might not be for everyone but I really enjoy it. read more

Ary makes everyone feel comfortable and makes each person feel like they belong. Her energy is focused, calm, centered, and enthusiastic. She arrives early, talk to students, and creates a peaceful environment before the class even begins. The music is relaxing and well-coordinated with the practice of the day. I signed up for the unlimited one studio membership. I tried to sign up for a class through the app and there was a prompted message saying I had to sign up for the membership that I already had so I called to book the class. A few days later I was charged $30 for the class. Nowhere between signing up for the unlimited membership, the app or the phone call was I informed that this class was a separate fee. This should be explained during signup, the app and when customers call the studio. This is an amazing studio. Just be cautious when booking because some classes on the app are unclear and it's difficult to tell which classes are included in your membership. read more
