Not sure why this hotel had such bad reviews, I am going to be as honest as possible and express my gratitude to Club Quarters Hotel. I was here for the weekend and my experience was amazing. I was able to do self check-in at the hotel without a problem. No issues at all. I had requested a room away from the elevator (I'm sensitive to noise) and they were able to accommodate my request. The room was simple but spectacular. Very modern inside. The bed was extremely comfortable and the space was perfect. The bathroom was very clean and the bath products were superb. No fridge, no microwave. Chargers for electronics were plentiful! I definitely enjoyed the free water bottles in the hall way, the ice machine in the basement, the vending machines, the free coffee machine in the lobby and the attentive staff. The lobby is really beautiful, lots of space for working and relaxing. I look forward to coming back to enjoy another experience here. read more

My check in was super weird, the front desk lady was dismissive and unpleasant. In my room, There's a piece of un-chewed gum on the floor next to the bed, which was so confusing as it was questionable that someone did clean the room thoroughly before it was available for the next guest. I liked the coffee machine in the lobby, but the sparkling water dispenser was empty the whole time I stayed there. I cut my stay short and was communicating with the hotel via text messages. I checked out at 4:25 PM, and from the correspondence, I believed that I wouldn't be charged for an extra night. But later I was informed that I was charged for an entire night and they can't do anything about it. The location of the hotel is convenient for anyone who is trying to stay in downtown Houston, but I'll never repeat the experience of staying there. read more

So far it's only okay. The hotel, itself is outdated. There is no shuttle to and from the airport, not even a 3rd party shuttle. The staff has been top notch though. Gym was okay, it's got a bunch of mismatched equipment. I was able to do a small work out and cardio so it worked out alright. There is no pool here which is my biggest gripe. I was in town for business and was treated so incredibly well by Chelsea from the front desk. She was so welcoming and friendly and helped me with everything I needed during my few days in Houston. I travel a lot for work and I've never been treated this well. Every time I came back into the building she would always say welcome back Ms. Riley! Which was so wonderful. She made my experience great and I highly recommend staying here. PS if management reads this, know you did well hiring someone as special as her and she needs a raise! read more

Choose this hotel due to location. It was very nice. The room had two twin beds which was decent. The bath was okay. The gym was good for some cardio. Strongly recommend bringing your own water bottle as there are drinking water dispensers in the hallway. They do provide plastic bottles (which I kept using the same one). If I had known of the water dispensers, I would have brought one from home. read more

I was very excited when I booked this hotel as I was going to attend the Astros vs Mariners game, however, check in was bad. Had to get on a table that they have at the entrance and you have to register again, in order to get your room assigned (not sure why, when I had already made reservations?). After registration was completed, it said that we will be notified when the room was ready (mind you, it was past 4pm when I did this). We waited at the lobby for a text or something to let me know that the room was ready. After waiting and waiting, I walked back to the registration hallway and spoke to a gentleman that was taking care of luggages and explained to him that I have been waiting for a bit for my room that was supposed to be ready (check in) at 3pm. He apologized for the delayed and offered us a free room upgrade. I figured that's the least they could do and got my keys and went up to the supposed "Upgraded room. When I opened the supposed upgraded room, I was disappointed and thought, "If this is an upgraded room, I cannot imagine what room I was going to originally get? The room was very time and lacked the amenities of basic items. The shampoo and conditioner bottles were big compared to other hotels but both bottles barely had shampoo or conditioner in them. The TV remote looked like a mini computer keyboard that was hard to know what its real purpose was. There was only one small coffee pod, that dispensed a small amount of coffee. There was no water in the room. Their website states checkin in at 3pm. I checked in a little after 4pm (go figures). The room assigned (421), was in near the back main road and you can hear traffic. Rooms are like dormitories rather than an upscale hotel. You can get a bigger room at motel 6. PRO-It's within walking distance to the Astros stadium! read more

The positives: The room was very clean and well put together. The hotel is located in the downtown business district and also close to a train stop. The staff are courteous and friendly. The hotel is cheaper than some of the other hotels nearby. The negatives: The hotel does not seem to have its own parking garage (though there is valet parking) and finding parking open to the public nearby is tricky. From what I could tell breakfast was not automatically included with the room but could be purchased from the hotel's restaurant. Also in my room both the shampoo and conditioner were either watered down or very old, which made it feel like the hotel was cutting corners. read more

I arrived and was given the wrong room, then moved to a room with no ac, on top of the issues below (pictures) when I finally got someone to address the a/c not working I was told " I can give the first room we gave you", which was the size of a matchbox, and the wrong room. Not worth going into detail just save your money if you are on vacation. Not anything you want to stay at while on vacation. The room was nice, small but everything you could ever need; bottled water refills, closet of health and beauty aids and Coffee in the main lobby. Here are the issues- my blowdryer died, and they said they would rush it up but I never got it and had to leave. The coffee machine in the lobby makes lattes, I had one while there. The other 5 attempts the machine was out of milk every time. Getting the milk replaced took hours so I only got to try one. Very nice staff but they aren't feeling the urgency of anything. read more

The Hotel is amazing. I spend Christmas here with my family. This is my 4th year staying for Christmas. I really miss seeing Maysoon this year ,she was a great manager. Looking at the hotel from outside, you would've thought that it's luxury, but definitely wrong about that. The lobby was ok, I booked a queen size room and it was very small, thank goodness was only there for a night. My bathroom had some molding and for some reason the carpet was soaked by the bathroom. I would say the staff was friendly and I made a special request to have pictures of Keanu reeves in my room and they delivered lol, thought that was awesome! Not sure why the reviews are so bad here, I had an absolute great time! I stayed for two days to interview for a job while in town. The check in process was efficient, self check in and the staff was very nice and helpful. They've got coffee and tea in the lobby, they have a printer for your business printing needs. They have a restaurant downstairs and food is amazing ordering room service is a must because they were also super nice. The bathroom had ample counter space so I was really happy about that. I want to stress how nice the staff was because most times when you go to a hotel people are serious or look dead inside but everyone here had great energy very helpful and friendly. There is a young African American lady that is there and she has the foulest mouth that I have ever heard. I don't know her position, but she uses profanity to the other employees and just a bad, nasty attitude. You would think that they would get someone that represents them well. There was another young African American man that worked the desk during the afternoon/evening, and he was awesome. Very kind and greeted each time we entered. But, the rude obnoxious behavior of the young lady is what this rating is for. If she continues to work there, she will be a disgrace to this establishment. I stayed at CQ hotel the weekend of a conference in April. The check in process was seamless and the customer service was top tier throughout my whole stay. The lobby was beautifully decorated. Unfortunately, the small rooms left much to be desired. My original room had the following issues: *Shower handle broke off was not affixed and came off in my hand *The water pressure was almost non existent *Everytime someone flushed in a nearby room, it sounds like rushing water and it lasted for a long time. It woke me up during the night and never let up! And that makes sense because *My own toilet ran after flushing and didn't stop unless you open the tank and jiggle the handle inside. *I also can tell they don't dust well. The bed was very comfortable and the overall room was quiet. I told the front desk about these issues my second night and they promptly upgraded me to new room. It was much better and had a great view. Still had some mold issues though. Also, there is no bathroom on the lobby floor and in order to get to one you have to take the stairs, which doesn't work if you're alone with a big suitcase. The location is great, near food falls, a convenience store, and transportation. Overall, the service and downstairs restaurant saved this hotel. read more

Room didn't appear to be cleaned, bed unmade. Cafe was a nightmare. Paid for breakfast in advance, so locked in. Both times I went it took 20-30 minutes just to get water. I had a short stay but enjoyed my time. My room appeared clean and well kept. Newer TV was nice so I could connect my iPad and watch my own shows. So many hotels still have ancient TVs! Without a car, I found the location to be great and very close walking distance to several food options and a minimart. Airport was about 30 minutes away by Uber/car. I didn't get to use the amenities like laundry and gym but I was made aware of everything when I checked in. I also like that my floor (I assume every floor) had a filtered water refill station with bottles. My only complaint is that my room didn't have fridge or microwave. I thought this was just a basic thing every room should have. Double check your booking if this is something you want because it's not guaranteed. read more

When I was booking my trip to Houston, fights with minimum of one connection was already over 800$, so was really surprised and elated to find a direct flight and hotel package for 700$. Since my last trip to LA with one connection of 1h45 minutes which turned out to be a 12 hour layover, I decided to opt for direct flight this time. And yes I checked the rating for this "dirt bag" of a hotel, 2.5 stars. Ugh, I rather that than get stranded at the airport for 1/2 a day or more. Besides been a maverick before. Sometimes when your expectations are so low, you may be pleasantly surprised. Hence the case for Club Quarters. For starters, it is centrally located in Downtown connected to all three Train lines. Not to mention surrounded by top notch eateries, dessert and coffee places. All either within a short walking distance or a small hop of train away. The metros are supremely convenient and affordable. From the IAH Airport, as a result of my inability to activate ride sharing apps, I was forced to choose public transit or taxi. A bus ride from IAH to downtown was 2.50$. It was comfortable, convenient and timely. Holy crap, this was insanely affordable. Took about 40 minutes. Intercity transit on the trains to the Museum District is only 1.50$ one way. Crazily convenient. Back to Club Quarters. The services were spectacular. Folks were really friendly and helpful. The room was clean and tidy. The place also offered a complimentary coffee bar with snacks and fruits, while in the evening they also provided complimentary wines. The joint had a 24/7 fully stocked gym, an office station as well as a restaurant and bar. Club Quarters far exceeded my expectations. This was way more than what I expected which was a roach motel-like experience considering what I paid (which is practically nothing). Also note many of the previous reviews were before their renovation. Highly recommend it if you can get a package deal. read more

It was a nice stay. We stayed there in August, because it's close to Minute Maid Park, where the Def Leppard concert was. The rooms were on the small side, but were clean and the beds were comfortable. The guy working behind the desk was really nice and quite helpful. Valet service was quick and efficient. We book the one room suite with booking.com we was place in a Superior room. When we called front desk. They couldn't do anything for us. She said she would have to wait for a manager to come in tomorrow to look at the issue. Even tho the issue is a simple as coming to look at our room and look at the room in the pic on the site. Clearly not the same room. Then as easy as putting us in the right room. No point in making me feel like You don't care. So now the manager would be here at 11pm I'll update soon. Ok so Megan smith came in last night at 11pm., I told her the issue and she put us in what looks like that right room. Or it could be a better room. Room was nice enough, except there was no pen in the room, despite there being a writing pad next to the phone. The one time I needed ancient technology, and it wasn't there. The staff was less than friendly. Depending on who I talked to, they were either checked out and not paying attention (making me repeat myself) or were immediately on the defensive like they're used to only hearing complaints or something. Oh Yelp! You nearly failed me. I booked this room because it was the least expensive place on the app that I use for making hotel purchases. As a matter of fact every other app gives this place very decent reviews. I love you Yelp, but you got this one wrong. Is it the swankiest place that I've stayed in the US? No, but it isn't a hole in the wall! The building is downtown Houston, which is scary dark at the end of the day. Oh yeah New Yorkers, the end of the day for most places is 10pm in this beautiful city. That is until you get to Main Street, which is quite obviously one of the places everyone flocks to to get their drink, dance and flirt on! The hotel is conveniently located a block away from this epicenter of joy. The staff is very accommodating. If another person asks me if I'm "okay" and if I "need anything" while passing through the lobby, I'm getting an MRI. The room is very clean. A decent size. I booked the One Room Suite with Kitchenette. The bed is extremely comfortable with a clean mattress and sheets. I've had two great nights sleep so far. The bathroom is large enough for a couple people to move around in without bumping into each other. The room comes with two massive Samsung TVs that have YouTube and other apps. The couch across from the TV is comfy. There is a fridge and a little Keurig coffee maker. Downstairs has an espresso maker in the lounge for any point in the day or evening. A dash of coffee is great for avoiding hangovers. The gym has a bunch of machines, and a pullup bar, which is essential. I can easily see this as my go to spot next year when I visit my buddy. We've actually stayed here twice and both times we've never experienced anything bad. Our room was great and so was the staff. It was clean and it was fancy inside. What we really don't like is where it's located. The parking lot is terrible and pricey and it's like you're located in the worst part of NYC or the Bronx in ny. Comparing it to nyc is definitely not something I'd wish I would compare it too but the streets are filled with homeless everywhere and extremely dirty. It's also a very dangerous area, the front desk employees always advise us to take everything out of the car as it's been well known to have a lot of crimes around the area. The hotel itself was great but the location really ruins everything. read more

Great location. Decent rooms. Good price. Need better support and valet staff. I Called/texted the guest services number about 3 times and 2 of the requests took close to an hour. Stopped by the front desk for toilet paper and took over 2 hours after a call back to get some brought up. Many times valet said the car was ready but it was not. The room upon check had dirty sheets not to mention there was hair in the shower and the room was dusty with no way to open a window for ventilation. The carpets are filthy and could use a deep steam clean. An item fell overnight and when I picked it up there was long hair and other things on it. I wouldn't dare step barefoot on the room floor. I witnessed the valet bringing out a car that the owner was told was ready 30 mins ago only for them to pull up and the car dented and scratched. A well appointed older hotel with renovated upbeat lobby situated in the downtown theatre district, the Club Quarters offers an excellent value proposition for those who wants to stay in the swanking Houston downtown on a budget especially if booked with airfare. It is well serviced by bus and metro rail which makes renting a car unnecessary. We were able to get to museum district with ease. The lobby features good variety of comfortable seating groups plus an area to relax and have complimentary drinks and snacks while watching a game on the wall-mount tv. Offerings at the snack bar varies throughout the day so if you want some wine be sure to get there before 5pm (snacks are over by 7pm). This is such a welcomed feature especially when after a long day of exploring the city and wanting some rest and refreshments right away. Many guests were confused about the snack bar hours so a simple information sign would have been a nice touch. Unlike the renovated lobby, guest rooms and corridors are showing signs of wear and tear but still offer complete amenities. Details such as full height mirror, coat hanging knobs and bedside usb chargers are all good touches. There is no user-operable air conditioning unit nor operable ventilation fan in the bathroom so humidity and temperature control may be an issue in hotter months (we are here in January, the coldest month of the year). As a female traveler I especially like the fitness offerings and security measures in the hotel. There is a 24/7 fully equipped gym in basement with card entry. If not feeling like being in the gym I could do yoga in the room using the hotel fitness program on tv and yoga mat in the closet. Then throw the gym clothing in one of the many washing machines by the laundry room in the basement with complimentary laundry powder. They thought of everything! Security wise a room keycard is required to access everything from elevator to laundry room. There are doorman /valet staff by the main entry which helps making it feel safe at night when there are some homeless elements in the area. Side entry is only accessible using key card. We tried not to stay out beyond 7pm. For service, our room's garbage cans didn't get emptied which I found weird. Hair dryer was missing but housekeeping brought one to our room. For the accessible bathroom, water from hand shower spills over to the rest of the tiles floor - it could be fixed by simply installing wall magnets for the shower curtain to secured onto. Water temperature and pressure are both acceptable to provide a comfortable shower experience. As value-based travelers we enjoyed our stay very much due to all the good attention to details. read more

Well we get there, check in and the woman at the desk looked at the card and asked if we minded if she "upgraded" our room, no additional cost. Sure, who says no to a free upgrade. I would be very sorry to see the room we would have had if what we got was an upgrade. Just walking to our room we weren't super thrilled, hallway smelled like cigarette smoke, it is an old hotel so maybe it's just stick in the air, we thought. So on we went to find a tiny room with a tiny bathroom and double bed. This hotel has the absolute worst customer service I can possibly imagine. I booked the hotel online during hurricane Beryl this past Monday as I lost power and most hotels were running out of capacity. However I was able to access downtown due to the road conditions in order to access the hotel. I called multiple times to let them know that I need to cancel my reservation as their phone lines were not operating (I presumed they had no power like most hotels). However I received a message through their reservation hotline as well as through booking.com stating that they would not provide a refund as the hotel was operational even though as of Wednesday their phone lines were still down due to the storm. I've emailed customer service directly and contacted them through booking.com to get the same automated message and stating to contact a certain number in which that number already they can't do anything id have to contact the hotel directly. It's good to know that this hotel stands for profits over anything even during a hurricane in which millions still don't have power. I would like to give zero stars if that were an option. read more

My mirror was absolutely filthy. My bed was like some old springy bed. That's honestly probably like 10 years old at least. The bathroom was filthy in the shower head was filthy. The TV system that they use innspire is incredibly janky and doesn't work The entire four-day stay. I could not get my TV to pop on a channel. Overpriced for what it is. This is why people do chain hotels like the Hilton or Holiday inn. read more

The price and location are great; however, if there is a problem with your room the hotel's go-to response seems to be that the hotel is fully booked and there are no other rooms available to be moved to. The combo mildew/pot smells on the floor we were were on were causing my friend and me to have health issues causing us to check out early after we were told there were no other rooms available in the entire hotel and the only solution available was for a deodorizer to be sprayed in our room. Not liking that response we called the booking service we used and it tried reaching the manager but was unable to due to the late hour but it did tell us we should receive a phone call from the hotel's manager during the work week. We never received a return phone call but did exchange text messages with a hotel representative who told us our stay would be refunded. A few days later I received an email from the booking service stating that hotel was refusing to issue a refund to the booking service. The best decision we made was to put our health first and get away from this place as fast as possible. read more

Their is a reason this place was cheap. Super outdated hotel. No room service, and beds were super small. I'm an average size guy and felt like a giant on my kids size twin bed. If you staying here for a day it's ok but anything past that pay the extra money and stay elsewhere.
