We recently stayed at the Moxy Hotel while I was traveling for work. My husband and our baby joined me on the trip, and I was initially a bit concerned about staying here since the hotel is smaller and I wasn't sure it would have the amenities needed when traveling with a baby. It also happened to be the only place available at the time. What truly made our stay five-stars was the staff. The rooms are small and it can be a little noisy, but the team more than made up for it with their kindness and willingness to help. I especially want to commend Jamesha, who went above and beyond during our stay. I was stressed trying to figure out how I would warm my baby's milk, and she immediately stepped in to help. She creatively used the Nespresso machine to provide warm milk for my baby. The rest of the staff was able to accommodate with the request following this idea. That small act of care meant so much. Being a working mom on the road can be stressful, and there are many things that feel out of your control. Jamesha showed genuine understanding and kindness, and it truly made a difference for our family. Because of her and the staff's hospitality, our stay turned into a wonderful experience. read more

Stayed one night at Moxy hotel, located in the heart of downtown, Houston - Texas. It's about a 20 minute uber ride from the airport, a few blocks walking distance from the financial district - where you can spot the tallest building in Texas, close to theaters, pubs, coffee spots, and restaurants. Enjoyed the hotel room cleanliness, comfortable bed, nice bathroom with the most perfect shower head, nice street view, and cute little restaurant/pub in the hotel's lobby. Felt very restful and safe. The staff were friendly and helpful. And I appreciate the token I used for a complementary drink. My wife and I absolutely loved our stay at the Moxy Houston Downtown. First, the service was phenomenal. The staff were extremely friendly as soon as we checked in. They answered all of our questions regarding parking and provided recommendations of places to go. Secondly, the location was perfect. It's in the heart of downtown Houston. You can walk to bars, stores, restaurants, parks, and trains. You basically do not need to drive or use ride share once you arrive. The rooms were clean and we had a great view of downtown. There is even a bar on the ground floor, which is convenient if you want to grab a drink within the hotel. The first floor also has TVs, a mechanical bull and a gift shop if it interests you. Overall, an amazing experience and we will definitely return here for our next trip to Houston. read more

Ok I wanna start with addressing negative comments I've read regarding noise. Folks, you have got to research hotel neighborhoods before booking! It's imperative. The hotel is located in the heart of a downtown entertainment section on Main Street. It's literally in the middle of 3-4 clubs which don't even open until 8-9 pm. That is where the loud music and noise comes from & not the hotel. How is the hotel to blame? Secondly, I've read reviews that are negative regarding the hotel lobby bar being loud and a party spot and not for kids. Again, research. With that said, we were in the bar & lounge area at different times. Times when folks were having a meal or drink, couples, groups, and families! Part of the lounge is like a living area with a tv and space for parents to chill with their kids. The small but roomy bar has several seating areas as well. The entire space is welcoming and cozy without being cramped. They do get crowds from the clubs next door but it's nothing crazy. Quite frankly, I don't know how anyone would hear noise from the hotel bar/restaurant over the thumping and pumping from before mentioned clubs. We were fully aware of what we were getting into when we booked. Guess what? It's really not that bad at all. Especially since the rooms come with sound machines and we used noise canceling AirPods if it got too loud (which it really didn't). This was on a weekend too. If you don't want to be surrounded by nightlife, due diligence is your friend. About the rest of the hotel- I'm a huge fan of the minimalist, boho chic hotel. I love that there aren't dressers and other furniture to clutter up the rooms. Tons of wall hooks work perfectly for hanging all clothing. I mean who really uses the dressers anyway? Lots of fun and cute little things in the room. For instance, if you want a bedtime story, just pick up the phone. Once you do you'll get a recorded story narrated by Chloe Fineman (such a huge fan)! Bed is super comfy with space for two people to stretch out. Extremely clean room & bathroom. Bathroom is subway tile with higher end shampoo, conditioner, body wash, etc. Hairdryer and steamer in room as well (perfect for a shirt I needed to de-wrinkle). Check-in is at the front of the bar as soon as you walk in and it's easy/breezy. Employees are super friendly and nice. We used our free drink tokens for mocktails and they were fab. Stayed here for a week for dreamcon event and out of the 7 days 5 of them had water so hot it was unusable. When I went to the front desk they said it's been happening for a week already. Roaches were spotted in the room, aside from it being on a busy night life street, filled with homelessness it's a convenient stay at best with no comfort. read more

Room was decorated boutique style and reminiscent of NYC for us. The subway tile in the bathroom and the views certainly added to that vibe. Handy storage places also fun. The market portion was nice. The not so great... Blaring DJ left us no place to sit with our pizza. The next day we would find out there was a mezzanine. Wish we had some intro at check in. Welcome drink was terrible. They sold it as a liquor with tonic and strawberry puree, but actually no puree. More of a Truly with extra vodka. They showed food on Website, but nothing visible at hotel. The TV was loosely hanging on wall so my other half tightened that and the sink so we could use both. Room for improvement. read more

Stayed 2 nights here. Ok so, if you're looking for a 5star, this is NOT it.... BUT if you're looking for somewhere quick to stay and not expecting too much, here's your property. The rooms are clean and small but doable. There's no storage for clothes but they have hangers tabs on the wall lol. Warning... check-in is on the side of the bar. Check in was smooth. They provide you with a token for a free drink during your stay. Employees all were personable. Brian is funny, you'll enjoy him. Hotel location is perfect downtown. If you are familiar with the Moxy brand, you know they offer a boutique, fun, and unique experience. Moxy Houston Downtown has elements of Space City, bank themes, and if you look closely, hints of University of Houston and Rice University. Conveniently located in Downtown Houston on Main Street in front of a Metro Rail stop which is great if you want to utilize public transport for your stay! There are also plenty of bars and restaurants within walking distance. The rooms utilize space in a fun and functional way. There is even a bunk option which is a playful choice for travel with kids or those youthful at heart. Now, even if you don't stay, they have a great bar with happy hour specials. read more

I wish I could give this place a zero. If you want to stay in a place that you wouldn't even stay in in college for community. I've had nothing but issues since I checked in here and now on my last night here I cannot sleep because the toilet above me keeps flushing every 40 seconds. I'm told by Marcus at the front desk. There's nothing he can do because he's the only one working here tonight. He suggested I wear earphones so I don't hear it. So don't forget to pack yours if you plan on staying at the Moxie. We stayed here 4 nights for a National cheer competition. Our stay was fine until the last night. We were told there were no towels available in the entire hotel and to wait til morning! I had a smoke smelled room but the customer service is 5 star! Especially Gigi at the front. The Moxy downtown Houston was everything that we needed. Room was on the smaller side but it was just me and my beautiful fiancée. Room was clean and shower is huge. It's in downtown so lots of walkable options. We were there for the World Baseball Classic and it was a 10 min walk to stadium. When you check in you get complimentary drink along with a big bowl of gold fish when you check in too that you can help yourself too. The staff were super nice, friendly, and helpful. Was a little nervous about the noise from what I was reading however didn't even hear any noise or music once. I'd say only downside is no microwave or fridge however if you are only staying for a night or 2 it's not a big deal at all. Everything was great until we realized (after we left the state on our way home) that the valet staff WRECKED our truck and didn't tell us anything about it! We took a sharp turn and heard the tire rubbing really hard on something, got our and see the front bumper pushed completely in by the tire headlight pushed in, and a small hole in the body above it. Such a cute hipster hotel located in the heart of downtown Houston! I got in late on a Wednesday and the bartender was gracious enough to let me order a drink with a minute to spare. You're gifted a Moxy chip upon arrival for a free cocktail (restrictions apply). The rooms have sound machines and ear plugs to accommodate for the tram that runs downtown. It's also next to a club, like stumbling distance.... HA! They have little stash bins on each floor that has any toiletries you may have forgotten. This place has KILLER breakfast options, and a decent selection for coffee beverages. (THEY HAVE A ESPRESSO MACHINE) Only reason they're getting docked a star is because the morning manager? Moxy was very chique and had a cool vibe. The hotel is located in the middle of several great bars and restaurants. Brandon was very helpful in recommending spots to check out. The only real complaint I have is the nightclub next door blares music til about 2-2:30am. We were on the 7th floor but could feel the base and hear every single word to the songs. There was also construction taking place out front and we got woke up by jackhammers each morning at 7am. Noise was the biggest issue but the service and hotel room itself was great. Valet was also very accommodating and not an issue. I would stay here again, but request a room away from all the noise. We took the metro right out front to NRG too and it was extremely convenient! read more

The picture of this hotel is absolutely beautiful and the cost was a bit high so I thought it would be a larger sleeping area but I was wrong. First of all while in Houston finding a place to park was incredibly daunting! We got in front of the hotel and asked where to park and the gentleman said that he was valet so that was great but then someone comes out with the very high valet prices but I had already jumped out of the car sand committed myself and our car to be parked by these very expensive valets. So getting past that we continue to "check in", very tacky sign by the way for this beautiful establishment, and this gentleman checked us in and we were given 2 poker chips good for 2 drinks, nice touch. We went upstairs to our room and when we walked in I was surprised at how nice the bathroom looked and then reality, the room was ridiculously small , no fridge, no closet, no ice, no space. If you don't care about where you sleep then you're good. My bed didn't even have a fitted sheet on it was a top sheet tucked under mattress. But you see I care about the size of my room, if you don't care then you would love it! There was a steamer, that was a pleasant surprise. NOISE! NOISE! and more NOISE! As a Bonvoy lifetime Titanium member, I was extremely disappointed. The place has a trendy new cool vibe. Customer service was good. BUT the noise level is over the top and they know it. They provide ear plugs bedside, a white noise machine to help drown out all the outside nightclubs noise, right below the rooms. The rooms are tiny, and the windows are not noise reducing quality. The nite life last past 1am, so don't plan a quality night's sleep.
