Needs updating both inside and outside. The complex is over developed and the layout confusing. The kitchen is very sparsely supplied.

I would not recommend booking a trip at this location. We booked an Airbnb for a three day trip and were excited but it turned into a bad situation. You are unable to change the assigned person at check in which means if other guests arrive before you do they are forced to wait until you arrive. My elderly parents were stranded with no where to go for 5 hours. I'm not sure why it matters who is checking in but I have never heard of being unable to change it. read more

We enjoyed our stay here although it was part of a sales pitch that has landed the other Williamsburg resort a bad review from me. It is because of this I give them four stars instead of 5. But you can read the negatives on the Williamsburg Governors Resort page. Our experience here was to stay in a spacious condo with an adequately appointed kitchen to cook a dinner one night. The staff here was quite helpful. We also enjoyed going to a demonstration on how perfumes were made in the 17th or 18th century one night and listening to a local musician playing by the pool another night. Lots of other amenities for people to enjoy! read more

Had a wonderful time! Check in was a breeze, everyone was welcoming had a smile and all willing to help. Even has flavored waters available as it was so hot outside. Our room was amazing! It was definitely a home away from home. Large living room, nice size kitchen, big bedrooms. They had a big arcade with plenty of games for kids to play. It did get busy at night. Three pools, an inside, outside, and adult. Had a chess set and checkers outside around the grounds. If you need anything it's a phone call away. It's a beautiful area to stay, really close to Busch gardens and plenty of restaurants to pick from. Food for thought and Freddy's were a great family choice with amazing food. read more

I'm just overall disappointed. The condo itself was a weird floorplan. The furniture was ridiculously uncomfortable. Chairs and sofa were hard and stiff. The dining table/chairs were awkward - chairs too short for the table. I felt like an Oompa Loompa. The stove had non-working component - one of the stove burners didnt function. The shelf had been removed from the freezer, reducing proper storage space. The master bathroom layout was just awkward. If you walked in in the middle of the night, you walk straight into a wall. My bath towel has a giant hole in it. Unacceptable for a large hospitality site the kind size bedroom needes a new mattress and the pillows are all hard and lumpy. The adult-only swimming pool was VERY dirty. There was a visible slimy layer of something on top the water. Likely a sunscreen glaze, but still just proof that it wasn't being properly maintained. I definitely will not stay here again. read more

Checking in is similar to a hotel check in. The two staff members I had interactions with were super! When I got to my building, I was a bit concerned, based on the exterior. That quickly evaporated once I got inside and saw the unit! Everything was in good shape and most importantly the bed was comfortable. The unit has everything you would expect in the kitchen and bathroom. Took a walk around the activities area after settling in. Both the indoor and outdoor pools were nice. The fitness center was superior with a nice array of machines, as well as free weights. Off in one room was a sauna. Then there was the two game rooms that left me giddy! I was astonished that a game of pinball cost only 25 cents! So I had to take a moment to play one of them! The only thing that appeared to be in non-working condition was the hot tub, kind of a bummer! The resort itself is very nice--clean, well-kept, and the units are comfortable and well-appointed. However, the overall experience can be ruined when guests are placed near large families with young children or groups of young adults partying with loud music. As seniors, we found it difficult to relax and enjoy our stay under these circumstances. It would make a tremendous difference if the resort considered guest placement more carefully--seniors with seniors, families with families, and young adults with their peers. The property has so much to offer, but without this thoughtful approach, the vacation experience can be disappointing. read more

Stood at this resort with my family for over 10 days got sick and went to the hospital a few days after being there and utilizing the pool. Contacted numerous of times asking for pool logs and information and keep getting the run around. Not to mention we had to switch rooms due to the ac not working for the first three days and had to pay to go into a different room. Manager stated they don't have to provide pool logs! I also had to go to the emergency room in the middle of the night while there and let management know as well! read more

We had no idea this place was a time share. We got there and they immediately signed us up for a "90 minute" sales pitch, which last 2 hours and 15 minutes. I don't know how many times I could tell them they are out of their mind since we do not make financial decisions over a 2 plus hour sales pitch. Then I showed them photos of how disgusting the room was. They promised they would take care of it. They must have taken care of it for the next people that came in because they did not take care of it for us. In addition, we had to park so damn far away because they don't have enough parking or assigned parking. Oh, the sales pitch is for us to spend over six figures on points. They talk about the credit card points, but you only use those points to knock down what is basically HOA fees. The initial sales moron tried to sell us by saying he is a former NFL player. I know almost all college and NFL players and I never heard of this wannabe. Don't fall for their crap. Avoid this disgusting place. read more

This location is very convenient and the rooms are very large and is a great deal. This facility is gated and feels very safe. We found this location on a hotel app and the prices were cheaper than for rooms 1/4 this size. We stayed in a two bedroom on the first floor and there was a full kitchen, dining room and living room. The rooms furniture seemed a little dated but it was very clean and everything worked. At the end of our stay, someone stayed in the room above us and we would hear creaking every time they took a step and could even hear bathroom noises. That was the only negative thing I would point out. If you have kids, there's a free arcade, mini golf, movie theater and a swimming pool. This is a great location to stay at especially if you have a young family read more

The Timeshare has been updated recently in the room we stayed in. Two bedroom was large, clean, with full kitchen, walk in shower in master also washer/dryer, and ironing board. The pool is large with hot tub nearby and splash area for babies. They have put put, every entertainment you can think of for children of all ages. Weight room for adults and a area for bonfire, and Tennis courts. The only down I feel at the place was a musty odor in the foyer of our building. read more

We went there to visit grandkids in area. As we arrived to check in there was a gauntlet of sales reps pressure on to go to presentation "vacation club"? After relentless pressure went next morning . After hours of being deceived about it being a timeshare. The reps kept saying it was a vacation club. I said Timeshare it's on contract. Reps still lied and said no it's a vacation club and we will save tons of money on vacations by joining. We signed our first contract . Two days later we cancelled or tried to cancel. They talked us into resigning a second contract at lower rate . It has been igly since. They are very good at deception . Tried to use on country road trip , total fail. Thank goodness for trivago and hotels com. Much cheaper and easier. Tried to use them to travel to Iceland ! Total fail, no help . They have no knowledge of area . We stayed a week and resort the only thing I don't like is the constant disturbance of going to one of their meetings when we are scheduled but everything was great bags of ice and coffee was provided, and anything else you need you can just call the front office. As Wyndham Owners, we've definitely been to our share of resorts. Especially during COVID since the discounts are so good. We booked this rather last minute. Maybe 2 weeks in advance or so. Our room was upgraded from a 2 bedroom to a 3 bedroom lock off. It turned out to be a 2 bedroom and 1 bedroom with an adjoining door. The one bedroom was super small. The 2 bedroom was good but a bit smaller than some other 2 bedrooms we've stayed in. Our biggest issue was the odor. The whole unit smelled like a grandma house or a thrift store. We ended up buying some Febreeze at Walmart which helped. Our ice machine also did not work. We were only there for 2 days so not a huge deal but inconvenient since we use ice in our drinks. Employees were nice and there was no pressure to attend an update/meeting. We even received a phone call when we were on our way just to check in with us. There is $6/day resort fee but none of the amenities are really open at the moment due to COVID. read more

BED BUGS!!! For my son's 10th birthday we booked a weekend at Club Wyndham Kingsgate. Upon check-in we found out that the amenities that we came for we're closed for renovation which included miniature golf the heated outdoor pool and the hot tub. All of which were the main things that we were going for. They did offer to let us use the amenities at another Resort in Williamsburg but it's not the same as what I explained. At that point it would be too late to try to book something else on the weekend so we were going to make the best of it. The next morning while bringing breakfast to my girlfriend there was a red bug crawling across my pillow. I took a picture and searched it and it showed up as a bed bug. So I further investigated the situation by lifting the mattress and found more on the box spring alive and eggs hatched. I reported it and they said they were going to send professionals to remedy the situation and treat all of our stuff. Professionals never showed up just two maintenance men who asked me how I wanted to handle the situation. I told them that it would take me all day running all of our clothes to the dryer and heating our luggage up to a temperature that is to kill bed bugs. Told them the easiest way would be going to the closest laundromat so I could do all the loads in one shot and not have to spend 6 to 8 hours running it through a small dryer. They offered to do the clothes for us but once again they were not professionals and they were just too random maintenance guys that my daughter and girlfriend would not want messing with their personals as well as not trusting that it would be a professional debugging before taking everything home. Because these were just maintenance guys not exterminators or on-site laundry even I was not offered to refund I was not gifted any stay for the future. They gave me another room that I found eggs in and showed maintenance on the box spring at the new room. So we checked out and drove back to Virginia Beach with only a free meal voucher because I hadn't ate all day and I was starving. I treated everything myself after no professional showed up and left very disappointed with no future stay or refund! Was by far the worst experience and worst customer service I've ever dealt with. I had to beg for some kind of compensation rather than being offered and only got apologies from everybody. I told him it very least in this situation they should offer a refund and a future stay on Club Wyndham to make sure my family gets the time that they were robbed of this weekend. And they said they didn't have the power to do that! Yet I was talking to the manager that was second in charge of the whole compound named Caitlin. I have tried to go through booking.com to get my refund and have yet to hear anything back and nobody has called me trying to remedy the situation! Seriously considering calling local news to see if they can bring Club Wyndham into the spotlight on their poor service and lack of cleanliness and quality control of keeping their Resort up to par! read more

COVID Precautions: Decent, and tolerable. The area itself is not good with masking and COVID precautions, I found they were way higher then all out other experiences in the area and staff was masked. Parking: Parking was not an issue at all, and we always enjoyed parking next to our 3 bedroom lockoff. Size: The rooms, we did a 3 bedroom lockoff are PERFECT for a dual family. My dad had the studio all to himself and was actually HAPPY. He could have his coffee, make breakfast, and get ready without waking anyone up or being woken up. The bathrooms were a decent sized and the small washer and dryer took care of our limited needs. We did not use the balcony but the option was nice. Safety: Though we did not go out much at night, I feel if we did we would not have any issue. Technically this is a gated community though it is not watched Atmosphere: It's date but not like 80's dated. It comfortable and clean. I would like the carpets cleaned or changed but overall not complaints. Price: It's all different as we looked into with an Air bnb. They may give you incentives if you listen to a pitch about a timeshare but it was no pressure. Service: Prompt overall HOWEVER, maintenance stunk, and they never replace the missing window in our room, yes a missing window pane. However, we didn't complain and with a well placed towel it didn't impact us. Location: Good! Close to a lot, and worth a rebook. read more

BEWARE!! Once you check into the property you have to go to a different desk to get your room key. This is where the vultures are!! They will badger you incessantly to attend an "account review" if you are a timeshare owner. DO NOT BE FOOLED!! It is an attempt to get you to sign up for the Wyndham credit card AND buy a new timeshare. They offer a free week or $100 gift card, ask you for your credit card, and then charge you if you don't show up to their 60 minute session. BEWARE!! It last much longer than 60 minutes once they get ahold of you!! Their "owner consultants" ask lots of questions to get to know you. In reality, they use your answers against you later as they sum up what you can afford to buy. I was insulted about my age by one of the pushy, aggressive "consultants" and started to leave. The sales manager came running after me stating in a loud and aggressive voice that " I won't get my gift." I had to tell him to stop harassing me as he kept following me towards the door. He brought another manager to block my exit and she told me I hadn't stayed for 60 minutes and I wouldn't get my gift!! They didn't know I had refused to give my credit card to one of the vultures at check in, so I knew they would not be charging me for the free week they offered. I couldn't have cared less about the free week as it came with stipulations. I only wanted to learn about my account and review ways to offset my maintenance fees as they suggested. NOPE!! Still timeshare sales at the end of the day. Hope I saved you some time and money on your vacation by telling them "no"!! I sure won't fall for their scheme next time. Forgot to add that Club Wyndham will add their canned reply to my review. They normally apologize and do nothing at all for the guest. I would never stay here again. We're using exchange points through our timeshare. This place DOES NOT have an elevator. I'm unable to use stairs. On bottom floor the noise in the unit above is horrible. Maybe not enough insulation or padding above. They walk and the fan shakes in front room. Also, outside the bedroom window, 2 ft from bed, are 4 ac units that go off and on all night. Also, when I called guest services by my cell or phone here in room after 5, no answer. There is a movie theatre and activities for families, is what they say. We're older so we didn't go to anything else. The heat and humidity is terrible (June28-July 5). When we arrived they want to set up sales meetings. Since we used our own points we didn't have to do this. We had a hard day of flying in and kept saying no. So they said someone would call us the next day to see if we wanted to go. The next day I had to share some personal information, that I shouldn't have to do, which made them leave us alone. read more

VACATIONERS BEWARE! Our family had an incident where police needed to get involved because an employee potentially stole some of our belongings. The resort would not cooperate with the police (after telling US to file a police report) and we are leaving with almost $400 still missing. Shady behavior and shady employees. On top of that, the suites look old and sorely need a modern update. The beds, couches, and sheets were dusty (I woke up congested every morning). The water pressure in the shower was weak. The pools were cloudy and felt dirty. I could go on and on. The staff may seem friendly and welcoming, but when it comes time to actually help, all of a sudden, "their hands are tied." when booking, we thought it was a hotel. when checking in they talked about a free gift, but didn't know it required a 90 minute meeting. my wife recalls something. when we showed up to get the "gift" and we found out that it was something about ownership or timeshares we said no. My son and I were bitten severely by the bed bugs there. These vampires got us everywhere throughout our bodies including our faces and necks visible from the distance. Our vacation was ruined, our tickets to the Buch Garden and plans in Historical Williamsburg were sucked away, and we were itching, and frustrated with the incident. We left the hotel 2 days earlier. The concierge promised to check the room and make a refund. Instead, she charged my card for $194.44 + $20 on the day of our departure. This is insane. WORST check in experience ever! I'm a time share owner and been coming to this resort the first weekend of December for 25 years. It's now their practice to extort $40 at check in to insure that I attend a high pressure marketing meeting under the guise of "giving information ". I explained that I didn't have to pay $40 last year. I was then informed that it was $60 last year. I explained that I didn't pay it and didn't go. We got the most huge apartment, with two bathrooms, two bedrooms, dining room, living room and a kitchen. The unit also had a lovely deck with a forest view! We also loved the pools, jacuzzi, gym and the arcades! We used all the amenities. We had a great restful spring break! read more

Our experience would have been better if we had a higher floor. We were on the ground floor and could hear each and every footstep over us. The people who stayed above us got home past 10pm and it sounded like they were jumping from the bed. It was very LOUD and the ceiling kept creaking with every movement and step over us. They decided to do laundry that late in the evening so we heard the constant rumbling of the washing machine. At 12:48am, there was a lot of activity overhead again as they were up and about walking around. I'd say insulation is much needed between each floor. The suites are spacious which was great. Our toilet for the 2nd bathroom ended up getting clogged. We called the front desk and they just told us if we tried the plunger yet and told us where it was located. I think the rooms are decently clean but a few things are getting dated. Make sure you have flipflops to walk around the carpet on. I wouldn't necessarily stay here again. read more

Booked through air bnb so I had no idea it was a timeshare. I gave in and booked the presentation for the gift, but was only given one option for the time--right away in the morning. I tried to politely say that probably wasn't going to work but I was then told all the benefits of the morning presentation. I know I'm not a morning person and I was so dead tired from the day that of course I missed the presentation and just ate $40. After I booked the presentation I immediately regretted it and wanted to cancel but I figured I would lose my deposit either way. I wish there was some sort of brochure to help navigate these timeshare things. That makes it feel a little icky. It was a little weird that there is no accessibility, and that I had to walk up to the third floor with all of my luggage, but I'm sure nothing can be actively done about that at the moment. The buildings are already built. The room was pretty good. The bed was comfortable and the ac was great. The bathroom was big and the washer and dryer would have been nice if I was staying longer. The kitchen with the large fridge was very nice. My remote control to my tv in the bedroom didn't do anything other than light up. I actually tried to extend my stay a night so I would have a little more time in the area and attempt to recoup my $40 "deposit" on my seat at the presentation by attending one but was told by the Airbnb owner that this was next to impossible to do with the location and I would have to start a new stay and purchase two nights so I will not be doing that. It was nice enough but I don't think I would book another trip at one of these places. I feel like I was a little taken advantage of. read more

They have an amazing staff who are diligently doing their best. We had such a beautiful time on the golf courses. Playing tennis together was so much fun. The pools were clean and well stocked with towels. Trash was always picked up. Their yards are meticulously maintained. This resort really gave us an amazing place to stay during vacation. Property was like an apartment or condominium complex where you had to drive through to get to the specific location you were going to stay. This is a great resort for families. There is a resort fee per day which includes all the amenities. There are 3 game rooms , all games are free. A miniature golf course, 3 pools , one inside and one adults only , a jacuzzi outside, a poolside snack bar which are all included in the resort fee. The have for hole boards and the area is easily accessed and quiet considering how large it is. Is is slightly outdated but very comfortable. There is also a small restaurant on site with coffee and limited food selections. read more

Stayed here for two nights with family. Check-in was easy. Parking was plentiful. The king beds were comfortable. Relaxing living room area to hang out when we weren't out and about. Plenty of amenities on site, but we weren't there for that and didn't partake in any of them. Overall a really nice stay and would stay here again in the future if the need arose. read more

The day I'm supposed to check in they call me 3 hours before my check in to inform me that they could not accommodate me and my family for the suite that we originally ordered. We celebrated our 25th Anniversary and our Niece's 21st Birthday in Williamsburg, VA and we stayed at the Club Wyndham Kingsgate. The facility was clean, however, the facility shows signs of ware and tear. Checking in was a smooth and pleasant experience. We met with Brandon and told him we were celebrating our 25th Anniversary and he stated they would do something special for us. Sadly, nothing was done. We booked a stay through VRBO and had no idea what we were getting with this property. The property is well kept and clean. The staff from the gatehouse to check in were very friendly and helpful. Our unit was huge! Anything we needed was there for our use. The kitchen and dining area was perfect to save us a little money by cooking there. Due to covid some amenities were closed and pool time was based on getting a reservation, but that is not something they can really help as they keep safety a top priority. We will be back for sure if ever in this area again. read more

We had such a good time in this resort. Grounds were very clean as well as our room and everywhere we went in the resort. Employees were very helpful . Golf got a little crowded but it's free so we went back when the lines were not bad. Kids had fun as well as the adults . Can't wait to return. The master bath had a nice standing shower and the secondary bathroom had a full bath. The complex is gated, has mini golf, game rooms, arts and crafts, a VERY nice fitness room, in door pool, out door pool, hit tub, AND gas grills for each area of the complex. During the fall, the location couldn't be best. We were on the outskirts of Williamsburg so we were bothered with the daily traffic of 60, but in a good enough spot that we could get to Yorktown and Jamestown easily. Would absolutely stay here again as the whole family had a ton of fun and ample space! read more
