So first and foremost, very nice place! The staff was warm and welcoming, answered all questions, and were friendly. The hotel itself has a mini golf course complete 9 holes, a pavilion, volleyball net, great pools, and hot tub. They have 2 pools, 1 which closed at around 8, the other with lights at 11. It was a great stay overall, confidently located to pretty much anything from history, to restraints, to shopping. Cons: the room was a little difficult to find, our room, 157, you cut behind a restaurant, and have to go left, ended up circling a few times to find it. The bed was a little hard for my liking. Stayed here for a long stay to help family in the area. It was during feb so the off season so it was very quiet and peaceful. Stayed in one of the bungalows and was comfy. Also had no issues with allergies which many hotels give me. Only got to use their heated pool once because I was so busy, but I also did do an activity in their activity room! Did a craft with my friends kids. I wish I had more time to use their amenities, but I did not. No complaints! They only asked me about the timeshare once and didn't hound me about it unlike other places in area lol Shout out to Cassandra, Jenn, Gio and the cleaning staff. read more

The off season room rate was $112 last night plus taxes of course. But they then charged us $150 as a dog fee for bringing our 25 lb. West Highland Terrier along. They charged more for our dog than they did for us. That is absolutely ridiculous and a huge ripoff of any future pet loving customers. Do not stay at this hotel! We will not be back. Jeez the Williamsburg Lodge and Inn only charge $50. One other thing, upon checking in I was immediately accosted by one of Westgate's timeshare people offering me a $20 gift card if I'll only sit through a 90 minute presentation. After a 15-minute wait to check in, we were shown to our room (we upgraded to a two bedroom suite). The suite has a full fridge, dishware, electric fireplace, AND both bathrooms had jetted tubs!! The entire space was clean. The beds were delightfully comfortable. There are vending machines located in the lobby. There's a pool and hot tubs outdoors. I'd like to start this review by sharing that I am an owner at Westgate Historic Williamsburg Resort since 2004 and it breaks my heart to have to provide this rating to my home resort. I have no concerns with the service that I received from the staff. We checked in around 1 am due to a late flight and it was seamless. We parked and got to our room (303 A & B) in short order. The room and condition of the resort is the root of the low ratings. Let's start with the walk to the room first. The hallways were dingy and paint appeared to be blotchy. It also smelled very perfumed as if covering up a smell. Upon initial inspection of the rooms, the cleanliness was below standard. There were Doritos in the corner under the end table in the living room, the condition of the sofa and chairs were fine but the area rug was filthy. There was mold in the shower of the 1 bedroom suite. Needless to say, I had to clean before we could even use the facilities. The studio was in better condition but, the bathroom wasn't as clean as it could have been (for example, there was hair in the shower and on the toilet). After cleaning we were ready for bed, the ceiling fan in the 1 bedroom suite gave off a high pitched whining sound whenever it was turned to the highest setting. The bed was probably the most uncomfortable that I've ever slept in. The bedding itself was acceptable quality but the mattress and pillows were flimsy at best. The next morning, I went out to get some convenience items for the rooms (milk, juice, snacks, etc.). I grabbed a glass out of the cabinet and it was cloudy, as if there was a film on the surface. So, I grabbed all of the glasses, cups, plates, and silverware and placed them in the dishwasher to run a cycle. After 4 days at the resort, I was expecting the room to be serviced; however, I was advised that they do not enter rooms since the pandemic. I was floored, as we are no longer in pandemic conditions; but, I didn't argue as it was par for the course at this point. The one bright spot is that we did pick up fresh towels every other day from the front desk and the staff were prompt to pick up towels and trash left in the hall. My final concern is that we received 4 text messages about the temporary closure of the pool but nothing regarding the a/c maintenance work that startled everyone from their sleep early in the morning. I peeked outside the room and the worker apologized for the noise and advised that we should have received a text. I inquired with the front desk, who also apologized, and then a text went out regarding the maintenance. I am disappointed in the condition of the resort. It's great that they are expanding but, the existing facilities should not be in such disrepair. I believe a good cleaning from top to bottom and frequent inspections can help get this resort back on track. read more

It was a quaint place, but I did not get what I saw in the pictures. I was suffocated with the smell of bleach when entering (I do have health issues, smells bother me post-chemo) -I guess I could rest knowing the room was clean. Once the bleach smell subsided there was a stale smell. Because it was so cold I did not have the AC on to mask it. Nor did I have the heat on. Add 71 degrees on the AC/heat unit, smell to dissipate. I was mad that I did not get the room I thought I booked. I suppose I still am! That may be the fault of the third party website I booked through - but buyer beware of photos. Had an amazing night sleep, bed was great. As I am preparing to leave just was notified that they billed me an additional, $18. The first day I arrived there were a couple of things that needed maintenance. I called the front desk around 9pm. She sent Ted, the maintenance guy out to me which took minutes. One of the issues I had is that the phone in my bedroom wasn't working. Ted informed me that sometimes the cleaning crew mistakingly disconnects the wire that plugs into the wall. CHECK! He connected it back. Next, jacuzzi tub's right handle that turns the water on and off was broken. Ted assessed the problem and went to get his kit. He came back very quickly and proceeded to fix the problem. CHECK! Ted fixed it like new. Not only is Ted proficient in his skills as a maintenance man, but he also has a very pleasant way about him. I appreciate him coming out at such a late hour in almost 10 degree weather. Thank you for hiring such a great guy and thank you Ted! read more

We got a really good 4th of July deal and took full advantage of there 3 nights 4 day special and you had to participate in a 90 min timeshare presentation. When we arrived I was so excited because I have always wanted to go to Williamsburg and seeing as I have stayed at a westgate resort in Florida I assumed the accommodation would be similar boy or boy was I wrong , they put us in there " promotional cottages" . Let's put it this way the accommodation were similar to a motel 6 or one of those pay by the hour motels . The beds were kind size yes and had great linens however that was the only good thing about the room, the walls were paper thin I could hear my neighbors tv and full conversation . The bathroom was so outdated , the coffee machine was maybe from 1999 , I had to use my hair clip to keep the curtains closed because that wasn't an option there was a gap and I didn't want people looking in ... the pool was nice the kids definitely enjoyed that I will say and the people at the front desk were nice and accommodating, can't complain the worse part of our whole experience was the time share tour . The gentleman Patrick was amazing , he took us around went through his whole presentation about why west gate is the best place to purchase a time share etc... at the end we expressed we were not ready to make a purchase , we had other places in mind after all we do travel a lot so we had to weight our options then they they brought there closer over a woman who was nice enough but any time we expressed we had kids , they were in the room alone , we have been sitting there for more then 2 hours at this point she would dismissed me and my husband unfortunately had to firmly stop her it got a bit heated but I attempted to de-escalate the situation it was his birthday I didn't want him upset . This place was okay. It was definitely off-putting that they try to get you to sign up for a time share spiel right at check-in, but it's easy to ignore them, just annoying this is even included. There are 2 pools but the one by the lobby is much bigger, warm, has a kiddy pool and a hot tub plus plenty of chairs and open pretty late. There are activities on site like mini golf, they have grills, and activities to sign up for if you have time and children. It's a good location for Williamsburg attractions. The property is pretty big and we rented a villa-style room that is walkable to the lobby but is kind of far and only street parking in that area away from the main hotel. The bed was fine (but firm) and the room was very small, basically just room for the bed and not much room to lay down a suitcase. The bathroom was fine except no sink counter space. The rooms are dog-friendly which is probably nice if you have a dog but not nice if you don't enjoy staying next to a barking dog. I would stay here again in the summer since I don't need a fancy room if I'm out all day because the pool was nice and relaxing to be at, but nothing else special to note. It wasn't bad, just okay to stay here. Definitely wouldn't get a time share here (or anywhere actually, beware of those.) read more

We had a pleasant stay here. We went to Williamsburg for a night to do some shopping at the outlet mall and go to Captain George's. Our thought was we would drive around to see what was nearby as far as accommodations. I get anxiety booking hotels online because I never know what the area is like, what the hotel looks like in person and how far we might end up from what we want to see. We looked up hotels on Priceline and drove here. They weren't able to match the price, but the total charge ended up being $2.00 less. We're guessing Priceline charges extra fees? Our room was clean. We loved parking right outside the door and it was so close to everywhere we wanted to go. Also, the staff in lobby was all super friendly. We'll definitely go back. read more

The reservation and check-in process was really simple and efficient. The room was just big enough for my fiancé and myself on our weekend getaway. We enjoyed a few rounds of the complimentary mini golf, and wanted to try out the pool and hot tub but were run short of time. It's conviently located to colonial Williamsburg and Bush gardens with easy walking distance to a number of stores and restaurants. First off the "marketing" rooms they shove you in are no different than any $45 a night motel, I could hear my neighbors TV and conversations word for word with the single adjoining door. The pool is nice, the gym is them doing the bare minimum to say they have a gym, and the rest is all very basic! Now let's get to it we went for a timeshare tour which in all honesty my wife and I are interested in a vacation spot. The guy Patrick who did the initial presentation was one of the best sales people I've come across. I've spent 20 years doing sales and this dude did everything exactly the way I would have. I was genuinely impressed. We explained to him no matter what he said or did we wouldn't be making any decisions in that moment. He actually understood but said his manager needed to come over to give us the "gifts" for our time. This woman who I believe is supposed to be their "closer" was by far the worst excuse of a sales person I've ever seen. She seemed to think because she was a woman she could just speak to people however she wanted. We said no flat out multiple times and my wife said my kids are in the room we have been here 3 hours not 90 minutes as you promised we are going to go. This woman looked at my wife and said "no I'm not letting you leave until I show you this" and that was my breaking point. No one is going to tell my wife what she can or can't do so I proceeded to loose it on her. I have to say, the reviews for this place scared me a bit as we booked the hotel on a whim for a last minute NYE trip to Willamsburg but to our surprise, it was actually a pretty pleasant stay. Many reviews had mentioned the check-in process to be a nightmare, confusion as to where to park, timeshare overselling, etc. We, personally, didn't experience any of this. We pulled up around 6pm and found clearly marked parking spots by the front for us to park our car and check-in. The front desk employee quickly checked us in, gave us very clear directions as to where our room was and sent us on our way. Not once did he or anyone else try to sell us a timeshare or offer any "discounts". We followed the map and parked right in front of our "room", which is more like a house split between three rooms, each with their own private entrance. We paid $125 a night for a king size bed, with a stand-in shower. The room itself was on the smaller side but we still had enough space to walk around and be comfortable. The bathroom was also a decent size but the sink was tiny. While the bedroom had a heating system, it was still pretty cold in our room throughout our stay. We quickly realized there was a slight breeze coming in from the main door so we couldn't do much - honestly it wasn't an issue because I like sleeping in a cold room. The walls are also thin - while we couldn't hear anything from room to room, we could hear everything going on directly outside of our room The staff was also very courteous - At one point, we realized we lost our room key so we called the front desk for assistance and someone was at our door in less than 5 minutes. All in all, great stay! Location is also very good with tons of restaurants near by. Would we be back? Probably not anytime soon but will definitely recommend this place for a quick weekend getaway. read more

Upon arrival, we were helped by the man at front desk. He seemed to be unknowledgeable and confused when checking us in. He assured the two rooms we booked were next to one another, but they were not. To get to the room was confusing and took us several attempts. The website was extremely misleading and does not advertise that you are driving distance from the lobby. Our rooms were extremely far from the lobby, which was not stated at all on the website or when booking room. Rooms looked very different than what was shown on website, and king room vs 2 bed queen room were Very different in size. The hotel is in a good location if you are visiting historical Williamsburg and seeing local attractions. Overall experience was a 2/5, will not be coming back to this hotel. read more

Like the hotel in the photos? Yeah, that's not where you're staying. At least, not unless you buy a time share, which they will start HARD selling the second you walk in the door. We booked on hotels dot com, just for a night before movers brought our stuff, and thought this place looked nice. Maybe the main property is somewhat better, but we weren't able to find out. Because if you don't immediately enter into a predatory contract, you and your partner and luggage may be loaded precariously onto the back of a golf cart to speed you to their nondescript offsite bungalows. I was told to sit on the back of the cart, facing backwards, and got to test my grip strength as our luggage nearly pushed me off the cart and I realized we were being taken to another property entirely, with shabby rooms and a smaller, dirtier pool. In the main lobby of the hotel while trying to check in, I saw other families being taken in by the time share presentation. I can imagine if you came here expecting a nice vacation it would be hard to tell your family you weren't actually staying in the hotel from the pictures, which is how they try to get you to sign up as soon as you arrive. It's shameful. They used a "free lunch" to try to coax us in there and I saw people eating basic hot dogs while signing away their hard earned money. Please train your "management" in how to properly interact with customers. We did presentation and had potential interest. After the presentation our presenter (was very professional) had to have her manager come speak with us as part of the routine. Wife and I had already been there 1 1/2 hours at this point (for a 90-minute presentation) and were waiting at a table staring at each other for 15-minutes while waiting for the manager. At this point we saw there were still sandwiches left for the lunch presentation (sign outside of presentation room refers to the food as "buffet") so we decided to grab another sandwich to eat during the extended wait. A couple minutes later the "manager" named Wesley finally came to our table and instead of introducing himself (learned his name later) he looked down at the table and rolled his eyes, said he doesn't speak to people who are eating and walked away?! Wife and I were shocked at his rudeness but sat there and finished our sandwiches within the next couple of minutes. Instead of coming back, Wesley sat at another table where he joked with others at the table and this went on for another 10 minutes while wife and I impatiently waited for him as we were already well past our 90-mnute presentation time. After he got up from the table, we saw Wesley look over at our table (which was completely clear of any food) and saw him walk away into an office. Eventually our original presenter had to walk into the office (as she saw we were getting frustrated with Wesley's unprofessional conduct) and he finally came out. Wesley then gave us a fake smile and tried to start talk pricing with us but I cut him off and told him we were no longer interested. He asked why and I told him that I don't do business with people or managers who treat customers in such an unprofessional way as he did. He asked what I was referring to and I calmly explained exactly what happened. Instead of apologizing or owning his behavior, Wesley dug deeper and said he didn't understand so I explained to him exactly what he did again (I'm not sure if Wesly is not very smart to not understand or if he is so accustomed to getting away with acting like an arrogant jerk) but again said he didn't understand. This is when I was got more annoyed as Wesley was clearly just playing games so I informed him that if he couldn't understand how unprofessional his behavior was after the first two explanations then I could raise my voice and repeat it again louder, which I then started explaining again in a louder tone. Wesley then had the nerve to say that my behavior was in appropriate and that if we wanted to leave then we could. I asked for my gift and he said he wasn't done so we wouldn't get the gift if we left so I told him to finish. Instead of finishing he again starting saying he didn't understand what we were referring to which is when wife started getting upset and started going back and forth arguing with him. I again told Wesley to finish up so we could leave and he said we weren't going to get a gift. I informed Wesley we had already been there for over 2-hours at this point and exceeded the 90-minute presentation agreement, which is in writing. He said they don't count the time for eating and informed him that I wasn't counting that time. Wesley responded with well you had two lunches so you didn't meet the 90-minutes. My wife asked why he was so upset about us getting a second lunch when sign out front says it's a buffet and there were no signs nor anyone saying there was a one sandwich limit. I then informed him we ate our first sandwiches in less than 10-minutes and our second sandwiches in under 5-minutes (sped up when he walked away) and we exceeded agreed upon presentation time. Wesley just kept trying to argue with us and kept pressuring us to leaving without getting our gifts and kept trying to bait us into further arguments. I informed Wesly we were done speaking with him and he could get the next person in line for speaking to us as he already said there would be one more person to speak to us after he was done. Wesley spent several more minutes trying to provoke us and get us to argue more with him but wife and I refused to speak anymore. Eventually he gave up, got the next person who finally handed us our gifts. The behavior of "management", specifically Wesley, was ridiculous and makes all of Westgate look horrible. read more

It was essentially a motel. You park right outside of your door. It was clean when I got there, but there was no housekeeping for the 5 days I was there. It was functional, but not very nice. Just a room with a small bathroom next to the main room. There was a fridge with a microwave on top of it, and a strange small closet that you had to stoop to get in. The decor must have been nice and thematic when the place was built, but it is quite old a dated now. Cheap enough - You get what you pay for. AC worked well in June, which was nice. So simply, this is a two to three star hotel/motel at best. If you go into a reservation knowing that up front, then it's an okay place. The rooms are small.. think "only slightly bigger than a cruise ship cabin" small. The walls are paper thin, you could hear your next door neighbor snoring. It is pet-friendly and they will try to sell you a time share, just simply say that you're not interested and they'll leave you alone. There is no housekeeping at all while you're there, but if you need new towels or trash taken out, call the front desk and they will accommodate. If you just need a place to sleep and take a shower while visiting Williamsburg, then this is fine. read more

Horrible hotel! Will never book again!@! Extremely unsatisfying !!! Only thing good was the staff! The room had a very damp air to it. I believe it was the AC judging from other reviews. The air was cold but it felt so nasty! The walls had stains! The walls were also so thin that i was laying in bed on youtube and we got a noise complaint! Also, for some reason my friend decided to check under the bed to locate the smell that lingered in the room. We found a weird shaped object of some sort and thought it may have been an animal or part of an animal. I took photos of it! I will post on any review site that allows us! Staff came and picked it up and we found out it was a old dog toy that was worn out and in half! Even though it wasnt an animal, it didnt make us feel any more comfortable. Later on we found dog treats at the corner of the room. In addition to all this, there were mutliple stains on the sheets! Cleaning service only came in once for our 4 night visit! After a long trip from Seattle, we arrived late, to find our expensive "villa" suite reservation had dirty floors, torn carpeting, a skanky black WR pillow set on the pillows we'd be sleeping on, bent curtain rods, etc. We were so so so very disappointed about lodging here, for our long-awaited visit to Colonial Williamsburg. Calling this barely-1-star hotel a resort, is deceitful. A huge disappointment. Opt for something better. read more

This is the worst company I have EVER dealt with and it's not even close. We booked a block for our wedding that had to be canceled due to COVID-19, and since the first time we interacted with anyone involved with Westgate it has been rude, unprofessional, and unhelpful. We actually went to the resort in person to talk to them about the block after we booked it and were treated incredibly rudely by the front desk staff, who could not find out any information about our block, almost like they had never dealt with a block before. For the block they were "contractually obligated" to give us updates on our block at predetermined intervals and we never received another update. The person we were working with either got fired or quit at some point and no one told us, so throughout the whole process we were never sure if our block was full or not, and only ever received updates after multiple attempts to contact them, when they said they would provide the updates to us. Then when we went to cancel the reservation and get a refund in accordance with the statement on their own website (which said all reservations through May 22 would be refunded) multiple people told us we could only get a 6 month credit because of the type of booking we had. It was only after multiple phone calls, emails, and chats that we were finally able to get a refund processed. I have no idea how the rooms are, which could be a possible saving grace, but trying to work with this company and this hotel for a room block and our own reservation was an absolute nightmare. read more

The pictures of the Westgate Historic Williamsburg hotel are not exactly representation from where you are staying! The place is clean and the staff is nice overall. They have small cabins not attached to the hotel which I may have been able to live with if I was paying for a two star hotel. The issue of staying here with a pet is they don't tell you a fee of 50.00 a nite is added. It states in small print a fee may be added with a 200.00 deposit. They collect the 150. Fee separate from the 50.00 deposit. They charged me 150.00 for three nites and I contacted Priceline which is now (Booking.com) . I no longer trust either company to rate their hotels properly. read more

Stayed at this "resort" with my fiancée for 4 nights late July. Customer service was good. We had to wait an hour to get our room, even though we arrived on time for check in which was at 4pm. The discount packets they offered were no different from what you could find online, and honestly we got better deals on our own. We stayed in the main building with a view of the pool. The balcony area didn't have any separation between rooms, luckily we seemed like the only couple that wanted to be out there. The studio room was dated and small. We didn't get wifi service at this hotel because we did not want to pay for an amenity that should be included with a hotel package. McDonald's offers free wifi for crying out loud. The walls were thin all over the hotel, we could hear kids screaming outside in the pool and inside from other rooms. The pool was a huge disappointment, the pictures online make the pool look much bigger than what it is. It is open till 11pm, but that means you have kids screaming out in the water with little to no supervision. I think the hotel would do well to close the pool to children earlier to allow adults to swim in a pool without having kids take up the whole pool. Also there were no food or drinks allowed around the pool area. The hot tub was okay, although the jets were not working at the time. The perks to this hotel was that it was close to many restaurants and historical Williamsburg. I would not recommend this hotel to young couples. read more

You walk in and turn left to reach the check-in counter. There were several neatly dressed employees behind the counter ready to assist.We checked in without much difficulty and without much of a line. The one-bedroom room was so, so small, and in a one-story cottage-style setting in groups of three, nothing like what you see in the pictures. There are one-way streets and confusing roads in their sprawling, expansive grounds. The room was outdated, with old furniture, an AC unit that blew air only in one direction (directly onto one side of the bed), very dim lamps, curtains that do not fully obstruct morning light, and a really small closet. There was an iron, ironing board, some hangers, and a safe in the very cramped, tiny closet. There were two night stands on either side of the queen bed, and that made up the width of one wall of the room. There was also a small round table and two chairs, a fridge, a dorm-style (puny) microwave, and lamps that have USB outlets to charge devices. The carpets were old and worn. The room had two windows, one facing the front yard and one facing an unappealing, weed-infested and unmanicured backyard. The bathroom was so small, only one person could stand in it at one time. If you get up from the toilet seat without being careful, you hit your head on the sink. The walls needed new paint, and the tiles needed regrouting. The toilet paper was extremely thin and bad quality. The hand soap dries out your skin. The towels were not soft and fresh. There was no tub, only a shower. The shower rod was affixed too closely to the wall and the shower curtain rings were too big that the rings (and curtain) only moved diagonally and dragged against the wall. The shower head pointed very low and was minimally adjustable side to side but not up and down. Luckily I'm short but any tall person would be showering with the water spraying on their chest and would have to crouch to get water on their face. I will point out a few positive details: the TV had an array of channels, the AC was controllable with a remote, the rooms were mostly quiet, there was a Dunkin Donuts across the street and a few restaurants within walking distance (Thai and Indian), and I felt the area was safe and not sketchy, given that it's right on the main road and close to some attractions such as the Pirate's Cove mini golf. Housekeeping came daily but were sloppy in making the bed and providing the correct number of mats and towels. There was no floor mat on day 2 so we had to use a washcloth as a floor mat, and there were extra bath towels and no washcloths on day 3. The pool is much, much smaller than what's suggested in the pictures. The photos online and on the key cards were unsurprisingly shot using a wide-angle lens to give the impression of a massive Olympic-size pool, but all hotels exaggerate. The hotel also offers discount Busch Gardens tickets if you participate in a tour to sell you a time share. I am not sure why some people have time shares here. The location is not convenient to the historic Williamsburg downtown area (30-min walk). I do not recommend this motel, even at the approximately $85/night rate. My wife and I arrived in town for our honeymoon in late September and the pictures made Westgate appear wonderful. Boy we're we surprised. What they don't tell you is when you book a room, you're going to stay in the old villas who are detached from the main "resort." What they also don't tell you, is that the nicer area is only for those who have timeshares. When we got to our room, there we at least a dozen spiders, spider webs on the curtains, and hair on the bathroom floor. Needless to say, we had to spend the first day of our honeymoon finding a different hotel room. There are plenty of better lodging options in the area - don't waste your money with Westgate. read more

Not sure why this only has 2 *. We stayed for 5 nights in July and it was very nice. The staff were very friendly and helpful and although it is a timeshare they didn't push it at all. The pool looked nice although we never used it. The mini golf is only 9 holes but nice (and free) and the game room is nice, we played pool ($1/game) several times. Very close to shopping, movies, etc. There were some issues with keys not working twice but it was correctly very quickly. And the cable lost some channels for about a day but that was also quickly fixed, as well as getting on the internet, which I had to make a call to do, but friendly, quick and helpful. No complaints here! We took out small dog (10lbs.) but left our larger one home, limit is 60lbs. Highly recommended. read more

This is NOT a resort hotel, but a cheap motel. We have stayed two different resort hotels in Williamsburg. They have a secure gate and everything is clean and secure. Here, small dark room with two twin beds nothing like their website. No bathtub just walk-in shower. The bed is next to the door and window where people walk and can see us. The wall is paper-thin, we hear everything people talking next door. The hotel is just next the road like a motel. The worst part was bed linen was dirty. I felt that they were not washed, then we found dirty blood spots everywhere. I hope they take this issue seriously. We had worst experience ever. read more

We booked this hotel for a family vacation. The rooms are quite a distance from the main building, and they are very tired and run down. The shower leaked everywhere, so every time you took a shower there was water all over the bathroom. There was zero surface area to set things on in the bathroom aside from the toilet seat. The TV sound was tinny and awful. The doors had gaps around them so bugs could come in. We even had a cockroach in our room which was disgusting! It's also miles from colonial Williamsburg. I just can't recommend this place to anyone. read more

Shocked, this place is considered a resort. It's an apartment building with a pool. The 1 bedroom was pretty cramped. Full kitchen, small living room, a full bath and bedroom. The couch in the living room has a pull out couch which is nice. A nice sized parking lot out back and close to multiple restaurants. Location is pretty much the only thing going for this place. read more

The place is not bad. Rooms are clean if a bit small. Beds are comfortable. Rooms are little bungalows that you can park right in front of, which is convenient. Centrally located near historic district, and lots of decent places to eat nearby. If I came back to Williamsburg I'd consider staying here again. Strange that it's a time share though. No way would I buy into that, but for a couple of nights it's okay. read more

Booked a three night stay for a decent price through booking.com. Upon arrival, we're informed our room is not actually in the main hotel, the historic looking location we had thought we had booked. Instead, we were placed a few streets away at what used to be the Princess Anne. The room was much smaller than expected when booking a "king suite". The room didn't resemble the pictures on booking.com or the hotel website. Our stay was fine, but it's certainly disappointing to be misled, particularly at a property I've enjoyed staying at in the past. read more

Gave this place a try again after already being frustrated with an older policy. In any case, the first time I stayed here, I got a room in the main building. It was nice, clean, and both my wife and myself enjoyed it. I went to stay for two nights with my wife and son and we were put in the side building. The immediate feeling all around was disappointment. This room seemed very dated compared to my previous experience and everything just seemed dirty. I was sitting on the couch and I couldn't stop itching, the carpet felt old and dusty, and the edges where the carpet met the floor were worn and the small metal teeth that holds the carpet pricked the heck out of me. In general, the place just felt very dirty. My son, who is nine didn't seem enthused about sleeping on that worn looking sofa bed and the sheets in our room were worn and torn on the corners. I hate to sound like some stuck up fella, but I'm not. I grew up in philly, where the buildings are beautiful and the streets smell of urine and sewer water. I wasn't expecting a night at the ritz, but the quality of the location just wasn't up to par. It was so bad, we decided to leave in the middle of the night rather than sleep in that bed. I'm only giving additional stars because the gentleman at the desk- Darius offered my wife a full refund. As I said, we're not difficult people. We didn't ask for or request one, but he looked out for us anyway. I expect most hotels to not refund in such a situation. We'll only ever consider this company again because of the customer service abilities of Darius and that is the only reason this isn't a one star review. He actually seemed to care and wrote down every complaint made. Refund aside, he still left an amazing impression. An asset to the company. read more

I'll start with the pros: it's a decent location and the prices are dirt cheap. Now let's get to the cons: bottom line - you get what you pay for. We arrived expecting to stay in a "Resort" property, which from photos appeared well kept and beautiful. When we arrived, we were surprised by how small it truly was. We checked in and were directed to our room, which was not in the main hotel, but several streets away tucked in a small cabin-like building. Misleading advertising: the resort's webpage includes an Accommodations page, which does not include all of the rooms that they offer. We booked a King Guestroom, assuming that it had the amenities of the smallest room on their website, but were surprised when it was much smaller and did not have the same amenities. Technically, I should have checked more closely on booking for the exact amenities of the booked room, but assumed it would have been on the website. The only parking was on the street, about 50 feet from the main road through the shopping district. On the bright side, I would be able to keep tabs on my car from inside the room through the gaps in the door/door frame, which were not sealed properly. The room was tiny, as was the bathroom. The carpet in the bedroom did not reach the walls, allowing a multitude of dead bugs to get piled up in the cracks. The shower had hair on the walls and floor, as well as mold. The toilet and sink area also had mold growing around them. Overall, the room had the smell of mold/mildew, was dark and musky. There were dirty towels on the closet floor from the previous guest. We did not pull the sheets back on the bed, but I would not be surprised if those were left from the previous guests either. We immediately proceeded to the desk to check-out because staying here would have ruined our vacation. The only real positive were the front desk staff who were helpful at check-in, and check-out. However, they did not appear surprised when we informed them of the issues with the room and why we were leaving, maybe because they have had to deal with these issues several times before. Their website photographer deserves a raise. I will not be staying at this, and probably any other Westgate properties in the future. read more
