Because I'm a gluttonous hound, I also thought it would be fun to get a smoothie to add to my already expanding gut. I chose the kowabunga with included banana, blueberry, pineapple, and coconut milk. I expected it to sweeter than it actually was. Though I expect all my foods to be sweet. Flavor profile 6/10. The atmosphere was pretty much par for the course for an establishment like this. Nice open area, waiting chairs, dine in. Several people waiting for to-go orders. The service wasn't terrible. Employees were super friendly and chatty (in a good way), they shared some insights and tips about exploring the town while I waited for my coffee. Super helpful and welcoming while also being down to Earth. Drinks: We mostly came here for coffee and to chill for a bit. They offered coffee flights here so my wife was sold to stop and try them. We like flights because you get to sample more of the menu without committing to just one thing. After the flights, I did also try a separate flavored latte off of the menu has well. The lattes were not too sweet and the flavor profiles fit the espresso base without overpowering the coffee flavors. My favorite out of all of them were the Huckleberry Latte and the Black Sesame Foam Latte (The Goth I think is what they called it). Fun little shop to stop and grab a drink and bite to eat. Bonus - they are only 1/2 mile away from Lake Michigan and a local park. Park and grab a drink to go and explore the beach!

The first thing that struck me (besides the unenthusiastic customer service) was that the prices (for comparable bowls) were higher than what I'm accustomed to. The bowl I got was $15, so at that price point, I already had high expectations. Only 2 base choices that day - Pitaya and the blue stuff- since Açai was unavailable. Pitaya is hit or miss usually, some places are good, others just taste like ice with a hint of flavor. The girl handed me my bowl while looking down at her on her phone, making no eye contact. Anyway, taste test! Unfortunately the pitaya had no flavor and the rest of the bowl just kind of flopped. Granola was almost flavorless and could use a little more sweetness. I'm wondering if it was just an off day? I'm willing to come back again at some point. Just not anytime soon.
