Great reviews and local recommendations sent us here for breakfast - come early cause it is definitely a popular but small place. Our party of 5 was seated quickly at 9:00 am and there was a wait by the time we left. Good service, our coffees and waters were kept full. Big menu with standard breakfast and lunch options - we all opted for breakfasts and food was ready after a short wait, Small parking lot and free street parking up front. Small kids and seniors priced menu

Swedish pancakes scrambled and over hard eggs, bacon, and hash browns.

One of the 3 great old fashion breakfast gems in Ludington, Mi. Theresa was our all American server who guided us through our experience. My wife has a Swedish background so we were thrilled to find Swedish pancakes. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a small, warm and cozy place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Check it out

We were here for breakfast, and I am going to start with by saying that my husband likes his breakfast! Especially his eggs over medium...he must have told me 100 times that his eggs were cooked perfectly, his bacon was done perfectly, everything else was great as well! So with that said, I'm going to suggest to stick with the basics. I ordered the greek omelette, I personally did not care for it only because it tasted like in addition to the feta cheese that I expected it also had some kind of processed cheese such as a white valveeta, the sourdough toast and home fries were great! I gave 4 stars mostly because my husband was so happy with his meal!

Another diner today awaits us. They have the old school paper ad placemats on the table, reminds me of a Mel's diner of the bygone era. Ordered the gf stuffed French toast with a side of turkey bacon, my husband ordered the breakfast wrap with the turkey bacon and a side of hash browns. They leave the whole carafe of hot coffee at the table for you to get caffeinated to your heart's content. There is antibacterial sanitizer at every table as part of the condiment tray. $3 for 3 strips of turkey bacon here, yes, $1 a turkey bacon strip, seems hefty, no? The berries are of course frozen and nice devoid of red color for the strawberries after being frozen for far too long. The gf bread wasn't bad, but it was so soggy from the water from the frozen strawberries. I took a bite and so did my husband, it was super soggy and tasteless. I asked the waitress if I could get the breakfast sandwich instead with the turkey bacon, eggs and cheese on GF bread and a side of crispy hash brown. I am stunned at how this place could have a 4 star, completely confounded by the overall ratings. Then again it seems the owner has never claimed this business so it would seem they care not what about their patrons reviews. I ordered a breakfast sandwich and ended up with a breakfast wrap. I event double checked to make sure I got the gf toast too. She gave me a pissy look as if it was my fault and told the cook in the back kitchen that I don't want it. I even said that's why I asked her for gf toast. She asked if I wanted her to her to put in the order for my breakfast sandwich. She was upset at me because she wasn't paying attention enough when I put in my replacement order. She was too rushed about getting off of work and out of there. My husband's wrap sandwich was good, the stuffed French toast is the worst I have had since I was a kid maybe. The waitress made my experience infinitely worse. Yet another meal skipped due to poor service and even worse food.

We were seated pretty fast, and the hot chocolate was great. However the eggs were a little dry and the sausage were cold on arrival. The pancakes were awesome if you added syrup.

    Eggs Benedict. GROSS!! Burnt hashbrowns

I had the Hazy and my husband had a West Coast IPA, and both were fabulous. My Hazy was honestly one of the top hazy beers I've had. The menu looked amazing too, and we had such a hard time deciding what to order. Everything coming out of the kitchen looked so good that we actually wished we had more time in Ludington because we would have come back here for dinner again! My husband ordered the Hog Father Burger with fries, and WOW. The burger was absolutely mouthwatering, especially with the pork belly, and I couldn't stop stealing bites from him. The fries were incredibly crunchy and delicious, and the burger was so filling that he couldn't even finish it. I ordered the shrimp tacos, which came out somewhat deconstructed, and I actually thought that was fun. The shrimp was served over rice with pickled red onions, and it came with salsa, guacamole, sour cream, and Mexican cheese on the side so you could build them however you wanted. Everything was delicious, but those pickled red onions were especially good! We sat out on the patio, which was a really nice area. The inside was also large and everything was very clean. The only slightly odd part of our visit was our waitress. I'm going to give her some grace because maybe she was just having a bad day, but there were a couple of interactions that felt a little strange, including when we first walked in and the way she spoke to a few people as they were being seated. That said, she was efficient, and I'll take a peculiar waitress who gets the job done over slow service any day! Overall, this was absolutely a 5-star brewery experience. Great beer, fantastic food, a nice patio, a clean and spacious atmosphere, and a menu we wished we had more time to explore. We would definitely come back!

But The Alley Bar & Grill was Perfect for what we look for in small town places that don't have bells and whistles but everything else that matters. Great staff interacting with the customers, serving great food and drinks with a welcoming atmosphere. Our server, Sondra, and her fellow "chef" were working hard in the kitchen making the tastiest looking pizzas. It was a challenge to choose our food because we were really hungry. The menu is smaller but everything on it is high quality eats. I had cheese curds and tried the Pollock filet, crinkle cut fries and slaw; my friend had wings with buffalo sauce and the French dip, steak fries and slaw. I asked for another option for dipping and their cocktail sauce with the curds was a great combo. Although the ranch dressing tasted homemade. I'd never had Pollock before and I enjoyed it with malt Vinegar, generous portion lightly breaded and I almost finished before finding a few bones in the meatier part. I know it's expected but I have a quirk when I find a fish bone, I'm done. My friend's French Dip had a generous amount of meat, on a soft hoagie type roll and was "so delicious". This place had just about everything fun to do inside: beer pong, pool, darts, fooseball s as nd even a room/ stage in the back for live entertainment! We had the jukebox this evening, playing good classic rock and when it stopped my friend was going to fill it up with coins and keep it going. But we overheard Sondra encouraging a guy to, "Pick as many as you want to because it's free." Prices were $$ for the quality and portions of food, clean inside and atmosphere. We parked in the street and walked about 300 ft to the door, which has 2 steps to enter. I highly recommend that you go find out what's happening in The Alley, I bet you'll have a great time!

The ice cream is that good, and the history and story behind the building make this place such a fun stop. It's easily become one of our all-time favorite ice cream shops! I got the Eskimo Kisses and my husband got the Peanut Butter Bull's-Eye, and both were absolutely incredible. The ice cream here is seriously 100 out of 10. I got mine in a waffle cone, and that was probably the only slightly disappointing part. The cones are pretty small, and honestly, it wasn't my favorite waffle cone compared to some others I've had. But the ICE CREAM makes up for it and then some! There is pretty much always a line here, no matter what time of day you go, but they are incredibly efficient. They move people through quickly, so even when the line looks long, you aren't standing around forever. The inside is so cute and quaint, almost like stepping into an old-fashioned diner or soda fountain. It's bright, fun, clean, and has so much character. I'm still kicking myself that I've never actually stopped here for breakfast or lunch because I've heard their food is worth trying too. One of these days! We ordered from the ice cream side, where they have all of the cones and ice cream treats listed. I didn't see milkshakes and some of the other things you might expect at an old-fashioned ice cream shop on that side, although I'm pretty sure you can get more options if you sit down and order from the restaurant side. If you're in Ludington, you absolutely have to stop at House of Flavors. The ice cream is fantastic, the atmosphere is so much fun, and the history makes it even more special. We came back a year later for a reason, and we'll definitely be back again!

Met up with a group of 5 to get drinks and food before checking into our Airbnb. The first thing we noticed was that there were no tables for groups larger than 4, so we grabbed a chair from another table and all crammed around a high top. There appeared to only be 1 waitress working and while she was friendly she was not attentive. Food took 50minutes to come out and drinks ran empty without refills. I had ordered 2 appetizers and skipped the mains. First up were the fried Pickle Chips that came with a ranch dip. The batter was flavorful, and the pickle fried to perfection. The second app I had gotten were the Bavarian Pretzel Sticks which came with a house made beer cheese. The pretzels were warm and doughy without being dry and the beer cheese was incredible. The rest of the table ordered wings and a burger, and everyone had great things to say about their food. The food was great but the wait time, lack of seating, and lack of staff really put a damper on the experience. This pub is currently sitting at a 5.3 on my Beli and it feels like a fair rating. Today we visited and it was awful. It is so sad to see that this restaurant has completely went down hill. Things started off fine. We were greeted at the door and seated right away. We then waited 50 minutes for our food to come out. Our appetizers came out quickly because they were just deep fried apps, but our entrees took 50 minutes. Our appetizers didn't taste right like the oil was old or something. The onions rings did not look appetizing, a darker color to them from the oil? My friend has the fish and chips and said the fish had good flavor but it was chewy and soggy. My other friend had the fettuccine Alfredo and didn't even eat it. We all tried it and it didn't taste like Alfredo. It had tomatoes in it too. My other friend had the salmon and rice pilaf and thought it was good. I had the cowboy burger. It was a really good burger, the patty was on the thinner side and it definitely wasn't cooked all the way as shown in picture. I appreciated that they used real bacon and not microwave cheap bacon. The bun was a little small for the burger but it was packed with onion rings, bacon and bbq sauce. Again, the onion rings weren't great. The manager/our waitress Mandy was kind and attentive. She asked why I didn't want a box for my burger, and I just said it wasn't really cooked all the way. Then she shared about how things have been rough there and she is hoping to turn it around with being recently hired. She shared how the chef "has no clue what he is doing." Whoever owns Timbers is going to have to close their doors because no one is going to visit a restaurant that is not enjoyable. It was a Saturday night at 5-6pm and there were only 4 tables with people dining. That is a big red flag if your business only has 4 tables on a Saturday. The atmosphere is great, they have an upstairs and a small deck out back, and it is just so sad it is going to waste. There is free street parking and a small parking lot next to the restaurant. Overall I hope this place can turn around.
