Great traditional breakfast spot, just super busy during tourist season. We went around 11:30 for lunch and had about a 15 minute wait for two people, so nothing terrible. There are two benches outside to wait, but no room inside. Very kind and helpful staff. Traditional, cozy interior with a good amount of seating, both booths & tables (larger tables for groups, as well). We split the Harbor omelet with hash browns and a side of gravy. They forgot our gravy, but were quick to bring it out once we reminded them. Food, service, experience... all were great! read more

We were here for breakfast, and I am going to start with by saying that my husband likes his breakfast! Especially his eggs over medium...he must have told me 100 times that his eggs were cooked perfectly, his bacon was done perfectly, everything else was great as well! So with that said, I'm going to suggest to stick with the basics. I ordered the greek omelette, I personally did not care for it only because it tasted like in addition to the feta cheese that I expected it also had some kind of processed cheese such as a white valveeta, the sourdough toast and home fries were great! First it took forever for the waitress to come to the table on an off Thursday. We ordered breakfast his was a VERY LACK LUSTER omelet & my Monte Cristo was slimy (seemed like they forgot to flip the bread on griddle) with no powder sugar or preserves. Another diner today awaits us. They have the old school paper ad placemats on the table, reminds me of a Mel's diner of the bygone era. Ordered the gf stuffed French toast with a side of turkey bacon, my husband ordered the breakfast wrap with the turkey bacon and a side of hash browns. They leave the whole carafe of hot coffee at the table for you to get caffeinated to your heart's content. There is antibacterial sanitizer at every table as part of the condiment tray. $3 for 3 strips of turkey bacon here, yes, $1 a turkey bacon strip, seems hefty, no? The berries are of course frozen and nice devoid of red color for the strawberries after being frozen for far too long. The gf bread wasn't bad, but it was so soggy from the water from the frozen strawberries. I took a bite and so did my husband, it was super soggy and tasteless. I asked the waitress if I could get the breakfast sandwich instead with the turkey bacon, eggs and cheese on GF bread and a side of crispy hash brown. I am stunned at how this place could have a 4 star, completely confounded by the overall ratings. Then again it seems the owner has never claimed this business so it would seem they care not what about their patrons reviews. I ordered a breakfast sandwich and ended up with a breakfast wrap. I event double checked to make sure I got the gf toast too. She gave me a pissy look as if it was my fault and told the cook in the back kitchen that I don't want it. I even said that's why I asked her for gf toast. She asked if I wanted her to her to put in the order for my breakfast sandwich. She was upset at me because she wasn't paying attention enough when I put in my replacement order. She was too rushed about getting off of work and out of there. My husband's wrap sandwich was good, the stuffed French toast is the worst I have had since I was a kid maybe. The waitress made my experience infinitely worse. Not only is the food worth five stars no matter what you get the employees here are top top-tier wonderful people. I have never not even once had a bad experience here. I bring my family here often every time it is someone's first time going with me they leave extremely impressed. I will gladly continue to introduce new people to this restaurant! DO NOT EAT HERE - GO TO THE HAMLIN!!! I rarely write bad reviews unless it is warranted. I usually only write reviews on places that get a 4 or 5 stars...BUT this place was HORRIBLE!!!! We were visiting on vacation and stopped in for some brunch. Big mistake. Service was horrible, waitresses cleaning around us, while having a loud conversation, and one was coughing non stop and said she felt like death. Then she goes into a huge choking fit and stays right in the lobby instead of going outside. Food. YUCK. I got the eggs Benedict and my husband got bacon and eggs. My Benedict had this weird taste and the sauce was runny. I took a few bites and was done...The American fries had no seasoning and were not cooked all the way. I really like this hometown cafe. Reasonable prices, especially for seniors and children. Our service was great and very accommodating for our group. All the food was acceptable and enjoyable. I like that they are quick with the refills for coffee. Breakfast seemed to be most people's choice. My dad had the senior breakfast with American fries and he liked it. The staff is always friendly, the food is always good, the price is very reasonable, however on occasion there is a wait, but usually less than 20 minutes. Turkey had a weird taste, beef was ok but had to add my own extras as too dry! This came to $20.67. Wish I'd gone to the store and bought a loaf of bread and packet of turkey and beef. It was storming when my power went out. We have gone three days without any electricity or running water so making breakfast in the morning was a thing of the past. Today we decided to look for a diner to find some solitude and finally have a warm cooked meal instead of pop tarts. We saw Brenda's Cafe while driving and decided to stop by and see if it was open. When we went inside the ambiance was so cute and we immediately felt at home here. We were greeted by a smile and seated with haste. The coffee we were served was what we needed after these grueling past few days and the breakfast options all sounded amazing. Brenda herself was working and let me tell you she is the nicest person who has ever served me breakfast; yes, including my mom. I chose over-easy eggs, toast and hash browns and the eggs were cooked to perfection and the hash brown were a crispy golden brown. My friends chose french toast and they too enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed my meal. Thank you Brenda for starting my day off right. read more

So here we are at another family Ron restaurant and the initial expectations are mid range. HOWEVER, service personable and friendly. Good flavorful and fast. Good variety, correct temp and even though every table was full our server was more than I expected. A nice little mom&pop place to get breakfast and lunch. I'm happy go give my money to a local place vs a chain restaurant. The decor is great and done nicely with nautical decor. We got the Captains Platter and omelette. Including one soda, out bill was $20. Everything tasted very nice, with a very stocked table caddy - coffee creamers, sugars, jelly, and hand sanitizer!
