Stephanie is a an amazing healer. I scheduled 1.5 hrs session with her a few weeks in advance and she accommodated me even on a weekend since I was visiting the area. She gave clear instructions on the location, directions, logistics etc. Stephanie is gifted with intuition and has great skills. The massage itself was very comforting. Stephanie used a few different things from her toolbox, asked me a lot if questions about history etc, gave me a number of recommendations. I felt very relaxed after the massage. Words cannot begin to describe the mind-blowing amazingness of Stephanie Shrum's therapeutic bodywork & massage practice. She's easily one of the ultimate best, most high ranked bodyworkers in my life... I've received lots of bodywork & massage over the years, and she's either in the top 3 or she's the #1 out of all the massage therapists I've received from. She makes really good massage therapists look like beginners or amateurs. Having said that, she is not who to go to if you want "light & fluffy" massage.. If you want something spa-like and relaxing and sensual - don't go to her. Don't go to her if you want just a nice rubdown w/ some oil. That's not to say her work isn't relaxing and sensual - it is, but her work goes much deeper than that. Go to Stephanie if you want to get really deeply worked. She is a masterful healer, and she works on multiple levels; her work is therapeutic, spiritual, energetic, physical, emotional... I feel that she's extremely psychic and empathic and is able to understand my body better than I am able to myself. There is such a deep experience and journey that I undertake when receiving from her, it's as though she's releasing all my tension, physical pain and emotions all together... And she just sees it, she gets it.. She's so present and so there. Plus she's been doing bodywork & massage for most of her adult life, so she's been trained in every modality - is well practiced and deeply seasoned. She's a master. And she also has some really great "sensual" tricks up her sleeve that are also wonderful.. but her work is relaxing on the deepest level of a therapeutic full body / being adjustment.. Honestly I've never experienced the level of psychic presence & empathic listening from another bodyworker or healer before. she's on a whole other level..... Stephanie is fantastic! I called early on a Monday morning in desperate need of a deep tissue massage. I'd been nursing an extremely sore back from over-excercise for over 24 hours, waiting for business to open. She had no openings but called me back and offered to squeeze me in, and boy did she ever. I've never been poked and prodded so effectively in my life! This is not "ooh I need to relax" massage. No, this is "oh dear god I can't move and need someone to beat it out of me" massage. Stephanie is a true gem. To call her a masseuse is to grossly undersell an incredible body worker. She probably has as many approaches to a client as she has clients. I have never had somebody work on me and as she works on an aching back muscle warns me of an impending pain response from a totally different part of my body. I had twisted my left knee very badly. I chose to not tell her about it but as soon as she touched the injured area, she asked, what did you do here? I hobbled in with a cane after a week of agony and after some work, marched out almost pain free. As had been said in other reviews, if you're looking for a massage as part of a bachelorette party, don't bother coming here. This is a very serious young health worker who concentrates on the healthful aspects of massage. It took a while to find good continuing education for massage therapy in Oregon. I was pleased to find that Stephanie is a National Certification provider for CE so my hours can be applied to both my OR and FL licenses - very helpful! In addition, her table Thai class was unique. We were a small class and she catered the course to our needs/feedback and wasn't caught up on just the standard Thai routine, she stressed routine flexibility which was refreshing. Hilarious healer! That's how I would describe Stephanie in two words, even though there are so many others I could use too: smart, talented, intuitive, practical, positive, open. I came to Stephanie after many years living with a mystery injury along my inner leg and thigh muscle... It was always an awkward area to seek help for, needless to say. After one 2-hour session with Stephanie I felt jaw-dropping improvement. My next yoga class? Little to know strain or pain. It popped back up the next week, but Stephanie kept at it and now my "bad" leg is my "good" leg! So we are just fine-tuning what's left to balance me out. This was my first visit to Stephanie and I wasn't sure what to expect. As it turned out, the experience was far beyond whatever I could have imagined. Entering the treatment room was like entering a very safe and sacred space. It was spotlessly clean and there was warm calming energy in the room. The massage bed was very comfortable and heated. A fire crackled in the fireplace and gentle wind chimes played just outside the window. Stephanie listened carefully to my concerns and issues about my body before we started. She offered me some different choices including energy work with the massage, which I wanted. The massage she gave provided deep release/relief and she explained very gently everything she was doing.
