If I can give zero stars, I would. I took my daughter to get gel tips. The woman that did her Nails was rushing. I told the owner and she stated it would be fine. The next day two Nails came off. I went back, told the owner and she fixed them. The next day they fell off again. I spent $90. What a shame, worst place ever!!! read more

I love this place! I really don't understand the bad reviews people have given this place. I agree with another reviewer that it's probably a competing salon or just a bunch of "Karens". Lee is so nice and funny and takes great care of his customers and his staff are really great. I am so comfortable there. It's very beautiful inside and has a calm and relaxing vibe. It's also very well ventilated so it doesn't smell like nail chemicals at all, unlike most nail salons I've been to where I'm choking on fumes.. Despite the service being $80 just for gel which other places charge around $50 and the work was mediocre. I do not recommend Michelle. I went here on a whim during my lunch hour. The place is huge and has a lot of jewelry accessories for sale. I asked how long the wait was for a manicure since there were a few people who looked like they were waiting, but I was taken within a few minutes. The 'regular' priced colors are all the way in the back on the wall, a good selection of Essie colors. I gave 3 stars because: the cons - the uneven filing annoyed me; she didn't ask if I wanted them cut; the cleaning of the tools seemed to consist only of spraying some cleaner on them before using them on me. the pros: sat down within minutes of walking in; she covered the nails very well with the polish, I didn't have to tell her to get the edges; best of all and to my surprise, a regular manicure was only $8. All in all, not a bad experience for the price and I'd probably go back again for a random manicure. read more

Get a massage from Pat. Coach Nails is as good as it gets for a nail salon. The place is clean - even the bathroom is clean! There is relaxing music, candy, the staff is friendly. Treat yourself to a massage with pedicure, and then when you're letting your nails dry, get a massage from Pat. Honestly, I have been to massage places where the only thing they do is massage, and even they will not attack a knot in your back or shoulder like Pat does for a fraction of the cost. I'm not sure I agree with the other review that stated that the technicians are not treated properly. I have never witnessed this and I've been here about 10 times. I do love the color selection, the kindness of the manicurists, and the fact that you are offered a free "trial" massage at the beginning of your manicure. If you so choose, you can get a 10-minute neck, shoulder, and back massage after that for about $10 (and I don't think many people say no to that!). You can either do this while getting your nails done or afterwards, in one of those padded chairs. Even if you opt out of this, the technicians still do about a minute-long neck/shoulder rub as you are drying your nails. Coach is also extremely affordable, in my opinion. One "yikes" I had as I read the other reviews was about the eyebrow wax. Again, I've never heard of this, and have actually gotten my eyebrows done a number of times. I'm not sure what that's about but I am not about to refute it. read more

This place is garbage. My sister went in there to get one nail repaired and the guy purposely started breaking the other wraps on her nails and she was pissed. She asked them to stop and they made her pay anyway. Her second experience someone named Jenny tried to give her a massage. My sister said no thank you. My sister needed to repeat herself twice. Jenny replied: "WHY ?YOU DONT LIKE ME? Psh!" Really? Who does that? GARBAGE! While the establishment was clean and the people were nice (the woman who massaged me at the end did an amazing job) I asked for a shellac and they put some other gel on my nails. Whatever base they put on ruined my nails which have been dry and breaking ever since. I can visibly see the difference in the nail they over buffed and damaged and my new nail which is growing out. I'm sure for a regular manicure they would be fine - but be ware if you're specifically looking for shellac because they do not carry the line. read more

This isnt that great. Chelsea right across the street is better, in my opinion. They charge extra ($1.00 a minute) for massage--at Chelsea it is complimentary--you of course should tip, but they come around to all and give them at Chelsea if you want one--which everyone ususally does... The color selection is WAY better than local places...they have Essie and OPI -lots of choices, which was nice. The service was...ok. My mani was the norm. Nothing really special about this place aside from the pretty lighting--they are open a half hour later than Chelsea Salon. read more

I read a few of these reviews and I have to say it sounds like a bunch of bored housewives in need of attention. I've been coming here for 2 years and they are by far the best manicure and pedicure I've ever had. Casey is my go to for a mani. It doesn't matter who does it, I feel the polish lasts two weeks and my skin feels soft. Pedicures are never rushed but then again, I invest the extra dollars for a spa pedicure- so perhaps that's a suggestion for the ones that feel rushed. I feel that Yelp is a tool to give an accurate rating to help others make an informed decision, not a complaint "sesh" about how your massage was too short. They are timed, pay for more time! I've only ever come in here when Chelsea up the road (which is the BEST) is closed. Honestly I've only had sub-par experiences here, I need to finally quit this place even as a last resort. I went in for a regular mani-pedi today. Besides the guy who did my pedicure trying to up-sell me on spa pedicures and callus eliminator, the staff is relatively nice. However, none of the women who work here know how to buff nails properly. This is the second time I've come here and have noticed my nails not being properly filed and left feeling rough at the top, which means they will break easier. I could have done a better job at home. The polish was put on incredibly thick to the point of bubbling, and after a 20 min massage and 30 min under the hand dryer they were still wet. The same woman gave me my massage and I could tell she didn't know what she was doing, she spent more time covering me in lotion than actually massaging me. Do yourself a favor and go to Chelsea instead. They offer AMAZING massages and never try to up-sell you. Way better quality, ambience, and bang for your buck. read more

I don't know why everyone seems to dislike this place. I love it. It's beautifully decorated, incredibly clean, the girls are talented and super friendly if you actually speak to them and show them you want to talk, they never rush, and Lee is great. I have never once seen him mistreat an employee, he gives all of his customers little Christmas gifts, and most of the time I go in he gives me a little discount. My gel lasts a month.... Well, it doesn't chip for a month, it WOULD last a month if it weren't for the growth. My eyebrows are always impeccable when I get them done there, and the pedicures are never really rushed. It's a little on the expensive side, but you get what you pay for. I have been coming to Coach Nails for 20+ years. I have had my nails done here for my junior prom in 1996 and my wedding in 2016! Coach gives the absolute BEST pedicure. Manicures are well done and VERY reasonably priced. When my family visits from out of town, Coach nails is a mandatory stop for the best pedicure on the east coast! The salon is clean and welcoming. Most of the employees have worked there for many years. Lee, the owner, is extremely devoted and hard working. I had 2 good experiences here and then today the manicurist made my toe bleed twice. She wasn't apologetic and was telling me I have ingrown toe nails and criticizing me on how I cut them. Meanwhile the last pedicure I got was from that salon and I was happy and pleased by the other professional. It wasn't relaxing. She had poor communication skills and was pushy about upgrading to a callous remover pedicure from the get go. I had to say no thank you twice. Coach Nails is reasonably priced and has a good selection of OPI and Essie colors. The atmosphere is very relaxing and the massage chairs for pedicures are great. What I dislike is how the manicurists are treated, and I've been here on multiple occassions. The owners bark orders at the poor manicurists. It is so obvious from the expression on the employees' faces that they are not happy. Even with the customers, it's some sort of rapid-fire assembly line process when it's finally your turn. Well, the following day, I had puss oozing out of my big toe and a rash that has blistered all over both of my legs. Unfortunately, I went against my better judgment and tried this place, even though I hadn't heard good things. I went in for a gel manicure and pedicure during the week when they ran their mani/pedi promotion. When I walked in, I asked the owner how much it would cost to get the pedicure and upgrade the manicure to gel. He replied it wouldn't be an additional cost -- shocked and excited, I picked out my colors and sat down to enjoy the ambiance: crazy chandeliers and other extravagances akin to a [tacky] Versailles. Needless to say, I was charged full price, and when I asked about the "discount" I was promised, they took $5 off the bill. The technician was wonderful, so the "discount" went to her tip. I'm not going back and am still in search for a quality, HONEST alone in Croton. If I wasn't concerned about my wallet or being lied to, I would return. read more

Wanted a relaxing nice pedicure on Mother's Day. Pedicure was EXTREMELY rushed. I don't k ow how they call it a pedicure even, all they did was remove my old polish and put new on. Trimming and filing my nails was rushed, they pulled out the callus file for maybe 10 seconds per each foot, and did not use any scrub. I think my feet soaked for a total on 7-8 minutes. Do not recommend this place if you are looking for a quality, relaxing pedicure. read more

They really do a great job here. Unfortunately they are extremely pushy with extras. I ended up with a $40 bill when I went in for a manicure. I was never informed that the massages weren't complimentary and the lady giving me a massage would not take no for an answer, and just assumed I wanted a second one, even though I told her I did not need it. You really have to watch out here, especially if you are a new-comer. I would go back for a regular massage but I would definitely be more cautious. I prefer natural nails up the street. I went to Coach Nails to get my underarms waxed last week. The place looks nice, and the price was very reasonable ($12). That said, I have gotten my underarms waxed before, and I did NOT enjoy the experience. For one thing, the lady did not apply pressure after the wax, so my armpits started to swell. Next, she tried to apply baby oil with (I kid you not) a paper towel, which only irritated my underarms further. My armpits were so red after the experience. Very disappointed in the quality of service I have received over the last 3 months; I am a long-time customer for years and WILL NOT return. On my last visit I waited 30 minutes for my scheduled appointment time...and they tried to upsell me "while I waited" on wax, pedicure, etc. When I was driving home from my appointment, one on my nails (I had gel fills) cracked - and all I did was press a button on my radio. I went back, and was told the repair was going to cost $7. On my previous visit to this one, the owner Lee gave me a new set on p/w gels. two broke within 3 days. Today was the second time I've been to this nail salon despite living in the area for almost 5 years. I finally remember why I was not a big fan of this place....they try to up sell you on every service. To be honest, it is a beautiful nail salon and you are greeted very nicely by the owner. The lady who did my nails was also very good...all in all everyone was very friendly. However, they will try to up sell on service such as a massage or tell you that you need callus remover etc. I found it strange since I was never told that I needed callus remover at the other salons I've been too for pedicures. This place is lucky they even get 1 star. Absolutely terrible ! Avoid at all cost ! You're better doing your own nails ! I went to this place after a long day out on the water. The place was beautifully decorated and looked clean. I wanted to get my nails done and finish my day of relaxation. I showed up to the salon at 6pm ( the salon says only and their front door that it closes at 7:30pm) I sat down in the chair as they started soaking my nails off. The woman came up to me asking if I wanted a massage I said sure. She then leaves over again and said would you like another 10 mins, why not right? She then asked again if I wanted another 10 mins, I said no thank you because I was nearly done. When I went to pay she had charged me $10 for my massage. I had explained that I did not know there was a cost as this was my first time here and my other salon does not charge me for this, the woman never mentioned it would cost anything. Whatever. As she started to paint my nails around 6:45pm the salon workers where on their hands and knees around me wiping the floors with rags, another vacuuming, hanging rags over the chairs to dry etc. THEN, I was drying my nails I noticed all the woman took off the aprons and were standing by the front door. I asked the woman across from me who was also drying if she has ever been here she said I try to avoid it at all cost she only comes when her friend calls her. We were basically rushed out of the salon a half hour BEFORE they closed !!! The workers bumped me out of the way while I was trying to walk out so she could leave quickly ! New to NY from Los Angeles, I finally found a salon where they do a good job on gel manicure. Never liked the rip off, constant upsell pedi but, went for the gel and waxing. Yesterday was my last day putting up with the asshole. I walked out without my nails done. Feel sorry for the women. They are nice and good at what they do but Lee isn't getting any more of my money. I didn't even have my nails done here but already know that I never will. I went in looking for a price list so that I could put together a nice Mother's Day package. I couldn't find one. A man (the owner, I assume) appeared from the back and I asked for a price list. He said, "We don't have one." I said, "You have nothing to give me so that I can see your prices?" He replied, "I've been here over 20 years. I don't need a price list." Wow, really? Is that so you can change the price after someone's had their services done already, or what? Because that's sure how it comes across to your potential new customer. Every good nail salon/spa I've ever been to has a price list -- and even the bad places had price lists! To top it off, this man didn't even ask me what services I was interested in. It's like he was super proud about not having a price list and forgot that I was an actual customer in his practically empty salon. Coach Nails, I don't care how many "chandeliers" you have hanging from your ceiling; to not have a price list is shady, shady, shady. And too bad you missed out on the big chunk of change I was prepared to give you for a nice Mother's Day experience for someone. Not to mention the referrals to friends and relatives. Oh well. I will NEVER return to coach nails. Although my manicurist did a great job on my nails, the owner was so blatantly rude to his staff as well as myself that I will never give them business again. After a miscommunication between the male owner and his female employee (my manicurist), he proceeded to scream and chastise her across the nail salon while customers were there, completely degrading and humiliating her. She then became visibly upset but continued to do my nails, making me feel highly uncomfortable. After she had finished, I went to speak with the owner who COMPLETELY shut me down and would not let me speak with him, telling me "it's fine it's fine don't worry about it" (meanwhile the poor manicurist was upset in the back). As a female, I have never felt more disrespected in my entire life and was completely stunned for what I witnessed. Other reviews have touted the owner's hardworking business ethic, but that is no excuse to be rude and exhibit misogynistic behaviors. If I could give this establishment zero stars, I would. read more
