I have found some great pieces here before, which is why this experience was so disappointing. I picked up a few items, including two expensive white pieces, only to realize they BOTH had visible stains on them. I brought them up politely and simply asked Scarlett P if they could be discounted, as this is something that has been done for me at multiple other TJ Maxx locations without any issue. Right from the moment she responded, her tone was rude, sharp, and unnecessarily argumentative. She immediately said, "I can't discount them, but I can put them as is and if the stains don't come out you can return them," in a way that felt dismissive and irritated, as if I was bothering her just by asking. That alone would have been fine if it was store policy, but the delivery was completely off putting. I still calmly asked if this location just does not allow discounts, because I was genuinely curious, not confrontational at all. From there, her attitude only escalated. She became even more aggressive, short, and dismissive, saying, "I'm just doing what I'm told. We don't do that here because it's already a discounted store," in a tone that felt belittling and confrontational. There was absolutely no reason for it. It was uncomfortable enough that even my partner, who was standing there, asked me afterward what her problem was. That is how obvious and unnecessary her behavior was. I want to be clear, if this particular TJ Maxx truly does not offer additional discounts on damaged items, that is completely fine. Policies are policies. But the way I was spoken to was unacceptable. It felt hostile and completely out of line for a simple customer interaction. To make matters worse, she said the items would be marked "as is" on the receipt, but she never actually did that. So now if the stains do not come out, I am stuck having to explain this entire situation just to attempt a return. I have shopped at TJ Maxx for years. Honestly, the majority of my wardrobe is from there, and I have NEVER been treated this way. I have always had positive experiences, which is why this stood out so much. This interaction was so uncomfortable and unnecessarily aggressive that it genuinely made me question whether I want to return to this location at all. No one should feel talked down to or borderline bullied for asking a simple, reasonable question. I want to be clear, this was not about what she said, it was entirely about how she said it. Her tone was so aggressive and confrontational that it honestly felt like she wanted to argue or escalate the situation. I was genuinely confused by the reaction, and to be honest, it made me uncomfortable to the point where I felt a bit intimidated. I also encourage anyone reading this to look at my profile. I rarely ever leave negative reviews, so the fact that I felt the need to write this should say a lot.

In the beauty and personal care area, you can find top brands of body wash, shampoo, and skincare items for a fraction of the price at department stores. I stopped in to do some Christmas shopping and found seasonal clothing such as ugly sweaters in a wide range of sizes. Their sister stores Marshalls and Home Goods are in the same shopping plaza and have a better selection of household items, but TJ Maxx has its fair share too. I recommend checking out both, as TJ Maxx had an item I wanted in the size I wanted and Marshalls did not. I don't think anyone visits TJ Maxx looking for anything in particular- I go in because I'm bored or have time to waste before an appointment. Still, I never leave empty handed.

Whether you need a light jacket or hoodie to wear in Charleston or heavier insulated gear for traveling, the North Face Outlet has it. I was pleasantly surprised to find a 50% off sale today when I checked out the outlet. The store has plenty of mirrors so you can try on the coats and jackets without having to walk very far to find a mirror or go into a dressing room (although they have those too). The store's inventory was mostly winter/cold weather gear, but they had a few short sleeved tech shirts and some workout tights, too. It will be interesting to see what they sell during the warmer months. The inventory is somewhat small, but I scored the last jacket in the style/size/color I wanted. It was a great buy! The employee who rang up my purchases told me the outlet has been at Tanger for around a month now. I'm thankful for this new find and will surely go back soon to do some Christmas shopping.

However, being made in America is a noticable selling point that stuck with me. Once inside, I was warmly greeted by Theresa from the sales staff and to be truthful, I never spoke to anyone in the footwear buisness that was as knowledgeable as she is. My dress shoes are always high quality, typically Italian -- some I even purchased there, yet Theresa was more knowledgeable. I stepped on the machine that gives information on your feet, pressure, pronation, arch, etc. This was a great day in my footwear purchasing history as I learned so much about Red Wing and all they do for their customers to support their products, I wish I could have bought multiple pairs.
