My car needed a new Throttle Body, the dealership quoted me $2000. I ended up ordering the part myself for $700, so I needed it installed, but ChatGPT also said it needed a "Idle Air Volume Learn procedure" after the Throttle Body was installed. Called a bunch of dealerships, they would install the Throttle Body but not do the Learn procedure, the dealership wouldn't install the Throttle Body, but would do the learn procedure, very frustrating! But Coachman Automotive did *both* install the Throttle Body and did the Learn Procedure! Highly recommended! Most other mechanics never even bothered to call me back! Have had six oil changes at Coachman Auto but a new shop told me cooling, brake and power steering fluids were degraded. It appears check fluids are not included in Coachman's routine checklist and vehicle has had clean oil but degraded fluids for a long time. Suggest making specific request to check fluids. read more

In business for many decades the employees here work very hard to satisfy customers and frankly I think they succeed quite well. Unfortunately, I've heard that portions of tips left go to the owner rather than 100% split with employees. If true, that's a deal breaker for me. But their work is thorough. Just setting the correct expectations to allow enough time when planning to have your interior and exterior cleaned. This is not a 5 minute zip in, zip out car wash. Wish they'd provide more chairs or benches outside to sit while waiting although there is some seating inside. read more

I thought I could trust Frank but that's a mistake. He replaced my radiator but didn't replace the hoses. They are worn and swollen. He said it's not customary to replace them but if necessary he would be happy to do it but they are really expensive. The two hoses would cost $149. But when I checked with Autozone the hoses retail there for $42. Overcharge much?? Also when he did an oil change at the same time the screw cap was left crookedly attached and oil has been leaking out. Now I wonder how much he has overcharged me on previous jobs. read more

My Girlfriend took her car to Coachman Automotive on Friday for an Oil Change. After the Oil Change, and driving for 1 Day, we noticed that the car has new issues and needs to go to Car Shop. We took the Car to Len's Shell Service a few blocks away, where we were told that Coachman Automotive has altered something connected with the Fuel Line (I do not remember exactly, as the Car is still at the Shell's getting serviced. I have said to my many, many, times over and over ... to NOT go to Coachman Automotive due to each time in the past which we had taken our cars there for Oil Changes, we would ALWAYS get the Cars returned to us with A NEW PROBLEM TO OUR CARS WHICH COACHMAN AUTOMOTIVE HAD CREATED ... of course taking our cars to a different service station ... which we have learned that Len's Shell does an exactly job ,,, and Mike our Mechanic at Len's Shell is the Best! Frank (Jr & Sr) run a very reputable shop. I have been taking our cars there for several years. They stand behind their work 100%. I had a oil changed done (on a coupon) a Palm Harbor Honda once on our Accord, the service tech at Honda said we needed new brakes. I took to Frank and asked him to take a look that I thought I needed new brakes based on Honda. He looked at them an told us we probably had another 8-10,000 miles. Were able to put this off for about a year where Honda was just looking to generate revenue from unsuspecting customers. Frank, both of them, have always been fair and honest with us. WARNING COACHMAN AUTOMOTIVE So I am not one to usually complain on here but I am putting a warning out there for you to consider. Need to get some stuff fixed on my sons truck it is high boy so not everyone works on them. Anyway take it to a shop they recommend another shop with a laundry list of things wrong with the front end suspension etc. we take it to this shop called @ COACHMAN AUTOMOTIVE in Clearwater they give us a breakdown and we say fix it needs to be safe to drive. $1700 later bring it home still shaking etc. 2nd Trip back to this shop something else that apparently is broken no biggie another $189 should be fine now. Get it home and the whole take gate is dented not just a little dent the WHOLE TAIL GATE. ( looks like it was backed into something or dropped) call them back when they reopened and there answer is "NOT OUR PROBLEM". So now the whole tail gate needs fixed they got $2000 dollars out of us and they could care less. So I beg of you. DONT USE COACHMAN AUTOMOTIVE in the future maybe less business well " NOT MY PROBLEM" will show them something. I've been taking my car here for years and have always been well taken care of! They have great ratings with the bbb and that is what initially made me go here. They are family owned and operated, which I also appreciate. Two years ago my mother took her car having a/c problems to a dealership on Gulf to Bay. Luckily she needed a ride for the repair and had to schedule it. When she told me the repair was over TWO THOUSAND dollars I said for the money we should check somewhere else for a better price. When I called Frank and told him what she had a quote for he said that it was highly unlikely that BOTH of those parts were bad and needed repair. We took the car to him and after a minor leak repair and a freon charge for less then two hundred she never had another problem. That is a honesty and he'll have my business forever. read more

If I could give them 100 stars I would. Father and Son business. They fixed my daughter's A/C problem a few weeks before. So, when my A/C broke down, I took my car in and was told the A/C compressor had gone out. I agreed to have it repaired and Frank (son) gave me a quote on the spot and said it would be done by 1:00 p.m. that day. I received the call from Frank a little before 1:00 and my car was ready. I Picked up my car, everything was fine, however after driving it for 15 minutes, the A/C started to blow warm. I called Frank and he asked that I bring it back the next day, as it was almost 6:00 p.m. I Brought it back the next day and Frank himself drove me home so I wouldn't have to walk back home in the heat. A few hours later, Frank called to say the car was ready and he would be picking me up, and explain what had happened. After picking me up at my door, Frank explained that it was the A/C Condenser that needed to be replaced as well. I asked "how much" this repair was going to cost and he said "nothing, you only pay once with us, it has been repaired and replaced and I drove it for more than a half hour to be sure you would not have anymore problems"...I was truly amazed by his courtesy. Coachman Auto are truly honest, reliable, courteous decent people. I recommend them to everyone. You won't find a better place to take your car to be repaired. I'm from Los Angeles, always got ripped off when it came to mechanics. Now that I found Coachman, they will have my daughter and I as customers for life. Great people! read more

Probably the worst experience with a mechanic that i've ever had. I went to Coachman because my usual mechanic was backed up 3 weeks. I needed a simple brake job done. Replace brake pads and rotors cut. I provided the mechanic with the pads. I was told my brake caliper was broken so I had to pay $200 to fix it on my Lexus. Didn't mind. I was also given a hard time about having my rotors cut. But after talking to the actual mechanic and not Frank I was able to just have them cut. My bill was $406. Went on my way and that was it. About a day later or so I started hearing a serious vibration in my right front tire. I took it back after about a week and they put my car up on the lift and started to take my tires off and in doing so started snapping off my lug nuts. 6 in total. So i had to pay to replace the lug bolts on my hub. Still annoyed but it was nothing too serious so I paid it and left. The next day a Check VSC light came on in my car. I was feeling extremely aggravated so I took my car to my usual mechanic and paid an $80 diagnostic fee. My mechanic found that Coachman put my left hub on the right side and my right on the left. This was going to require about $250 in labor to switch them back. I called Coachman and calmly told them what the issue was. This is when I was screamed at by FRANK that "HE WAS DONE WITH ME, HE WASN'T FIXING IT...etc etc" I honestly couldn't believe how this company was treating a paying customer. I had given them almost $500 and went in for a simple brake job. Now I know why people stick with one mechanic and NEVER use another one. I'm not one to write reviews about companies but felt obligated to after this terrible experience. read more
