The chick at the desk w the short hair engages in predatory practices because she had me unknowingly sign a $90 diagnostic fee form under the guise of "checking in", handed me the clip board and said "here check in since you're a new customer" so i signed it then she handed me another paper and said "sign here" and then i signed then after they did the check engine light diagnostic(btw autozone does & gave me the same check engine diagnostic for free) she told me $90 was due. At no point did she say "sign here acknowledging you're paying $90 for a diagnostic fee". Tell me why could she explain the first form so clearly yet for the second form she just said sign here? Thats an obvious abusive way to get customers to pay $90 unknowingly, i should've read it first i know, thats my bad, gotta learn the hard way sometimes. read more

Even though I spoke to the owner, I'm gonna put it out there anyhow... if you look back a year ago, I wrote an amazing review for them. The office staff was friendly and helpful... Place was immaculate! last year was about $3000 worth of work this year $2200 worth of work... And this isn't about the work... well other than the fact that I paid for a tire alignment and it obviously wasn't done (and honestly kind of makes me wonder if everything else was don). Office staff not so unfriendly anymore... Duane (owner) he told me to bring in the vehicle back for the tire rotation. I was leaving for Tennessee the next day so he said bring it in and they would take care of it for me... My bad! It was after 4 o'clock in the afternoon... But boy did I get attitude from the office staff!!! all it required was kindly tell me we're shortstaffed. It's getting close to the end of the day. Bring your jeep in when you get back in town. No... instead when I mentioned DUANE, the response was, he may be the owner, name may be on the sign, but he doesn't know what's going on around here. WTF. I took a used car to Duane's for a preinspection purchase. Their communication and service was top notch. The two guys working the office were very welcoming and enjoyable to talk to during the inspection. The inspection was done promptly and I was not left wondering if I would be waiting all day. After the inspection was complete the mechanic took the time to personally explain and show me everything that needed to be addressed (I was able to look under the car while it was still on the lift). I really appreciated the quality work and customer service. Duane's gave me the confidence I needed to purchase the car in question. I have since been back for routine oil changes and a tire allignment. Again the work performed was of top quality and so was the customer service. Also, the pricing is fair for a private business. I have been going to Duane's for more years than I can remember. The first time I took my car to him was to get a second opinion for what was going to be a $1500 repair. Duane looked at it and told me that the other mechanic was pricing it based on replacing an entire part (so long ago I don't remember what it was) and that it really just needed a piece of the part replaced and it was around $500! My first visit and he saved me $1000! Over the years all 6 members of my immediate family have taken their cars to Duane and would not go anywhere else. Duane and his team are honest, ethical and know cars inside and out. TLDR: friendly staff, honest mechanic with a fair price for repairs! The front desk person was very kind and helpful in arranging my appointment quickly. When I arrived she greeted me kindly and gave me an idea of how long before I would hear back from the mechanic about the required repairs. Duane diagnosed the issue with my AC & completed the repair in the same day. I felt the price was fair and Duane was very honest in explaining the issue and what he planned to do to fix it. They were also great at explaining the break down of cost of repairs. I never felt pressured or pushed into any extra repairs which is a huge relief as I usually feel unnecessary items are pushed on me when I bring my car into other mechanics! The Service Advisor is Lenny. And the mechanic that serviced my car today was Damon. I asked that the car be check for problems. And he found parts that needed replacing. Damon took the time to translate mechanic speak into English, too. And he showed me the parts that were wearing out. The parts were ordered, I am returning next week to have them installed. Here I go again! I can not say enough about Duane's Dealer Alternative. I wrote a review 3 years ago about how wonderful this shop is. I have watched them grow but keep the same top notch honest service. How honest you ask? How about I brought my car in for brakes and they told me I did not need them yet! I NEVER would have known that and they totally could have taken advantage of me but did not. They replaced an ABS sensor on my car today and a front wheel sensor but told me that one sensor in the windshield could only be done at Volvo...again honest. Everyone that works there is wonderful and I will never go anywhere else unless I have to go to Volvo for something because Duane says I do. I took my car to Lexus to get normal maintenance done in the dealership quoted me $1200 after I took it to Duane the total price out the door was $415.00!!!! Not only do they do good work but in my opinion which is the most important part when dealing with any auto mechanic is they're very honest, truthful and they communicate extremely well with their customers. My 2012 Prius V (90,000 miles) brake light and ABS light came on. While they were quick to diagnose, the original quote came in @ $2,900 to replace the actuator pump and some other relevant items. Within 20 minutes, they called back saying they mis-calculated the costs and it went up to $4,300. We chose to have a second opinion and when I came into pay the diagnostic fee ($144) and pick up vehicle, Duane the owner popped in the office without even inspecting the car and looked at the paperwork and phoned us 15 minutes later saying I actually didn't need the actuator pump and could repair the brakes without the it as the brake pedal didn't go all the way down to the floor, lowering the price back down to the original price. After checking with Toyota, fixing ABS brakes ALWAYS requires both parts (actuator pump is a MUST) and doing the half repair would put me at risk for repeating the whole repair down the road and it is never a proper repair without the pump. So angry they'd jeopardize my safety to half fix my car only to need a complete repair down the road. Not happy about this unfair and unsafe diagnosis. read more

I was having intermittent problems with the air-conditioning on my 2006 Suburu Outback that my regular mechanic couldn't diagnose. After about 10 minutes it would just blow ambient air. Dealer repair estimate: over $1800. Dwayne replaced a relay. Total bill for parts and labor was $110. The air-conditioning has been running great for over a week now.
