I liked Coast Care for my 101‑year‑old mother -- mentally sharp, on hospice, with mobility issues -- who is also seen by hospice staff, a nurse, a doctor, and an independent caregiver I hired. Mom bruises easily, but a Coast Care representative nonetheless reported "suspicious bruises" to hospice. Not true.I trusted this person. No other worker observed anything concerning, yet hospice was obligated to notify Adult Protective Services. Now my siblings and I are under investigation. And once we're in "the system" we have multiple family conferences, care, plans, etc. Hospice has been supportive and agrees the report was unfounded. Elder‑abuse is real and needs to be taken seriously. But this mistaken report has needlessly disrupted our family, and upset my mother. Dumb. Coast Care needs to train their people better. read more

The office coordination is so bad I still have not gotten paid for a job because they sent most of my check to a different account it's been past a month and still nothing and then I ask for a verification letter a week ago and still have not gotten a response. And they blow up your phone and well as your email about 100 text a day. This is so frustrating. read more

Twice no-showed, another time arrived an hour late and left early. Twice they didn't feed my 89 year old man. They don't follow the care instructions. They don't let you know who, if anyone, is coming the next morning until 9 p.m. the night before. read more

I do not recommend this service for caregiving for elderly. I used this service to care for my elderly mother with Parkinson's. They sent a different person each time so had to re-train them every time they came. The women they sent just sat on the couch, they didn't really help my mom do stuff (she can still walk and like to do activities like art). She doesn't need help bathing, eating or dressing so it's honestly really easy to care for her. Then, we asked them to do light housekeeping, like dishes and laundry. It's expected when you PAY good money for a service like this. They complained to their manager that we asked them to do housework. Then they canceled our service agreement! Stay clear of this agency, they are a joke. Based on my families experience... * They send CNAs and Caregivers who are rude, late and unqualified. They have sent several different people who are unprofessional, provide sloppy care, constantly on their phones, sleeping on the job and literally doing the bare minimum. And when they are late, they complain about how far of a drive they made or traffic. But always same excuse. Then they want to charge you over $40+ / HR. * This agency talks a good game but fail to deliver. You can call the office as many times and complain but they will tell you the same thing over and over and don't do anything about it. Makes you wonder if your call was even documented. * You DO NOT get what you pay for. You will literally get the bare minimum service. We made it clear we needed someone with catheter experience and they sent someone who came asking us to train her because she was never trained for that. What a joke! I looked up this company because there's just no way they can be in business charging what they charge for such unbelievably poor service. Interesting to see their reviews, complaints and lawsuits. I hate writing reviews. I believe it is a last resort. You must attempt to work out differences with the company before leaving a review. We attempted to work with this company for over eight months, meeting with management to find solutions on multiple occasions. However, nothing was corrected. We had two caregivers during this time that our mom loved and did not want to lose, so we tolerated many issues for the sake of our mom. However, this past week we needed CNA level care for our dad. Rather than have multiple companies at the house, we asked Coast Care to provide a CNA. Once again, coast care failed. The first day we were sent a very young girl with no real experience in health care, who was taking "classes". After objecting to them sending an ill-prepared worker to the house at $42 an hour we objected, and requested that they send qualified people. We were told we were "too picky," and terminated all services they were currently providing. Our father has just a few days left to live. Coast knew and knows this, yet terminated services for both of our parents. We were forced to deal with a distraught mom losing her caregiver, losing her husband of 64 years, and a terminal father. All because we were "too picky" at paying $42 an hour for people who have no experience and sit on their phone and play games. I cannot express how much I would strongly not recommend this company! If I could give lower than one star I would. Our experience with this company has been horrible for months. We met with management to resolve issues, and were told they would work on it. This did not happen. We were presented with this company while our mom was a patient at Scripps Green Hospital. They presented well. "We have over 600, well qualified caregivers and you will never be without coverage." We were advised the caregivers would provide care, companionship, light cleaning, cooking during the designated shifts. Nothing could be further than the truth. Caregivers were cancelled and transferred to other jobs, that they would bill out at a higher rate. We were left many shifts with no one because they did this. We had many caregivers that removed items from the home, ate our parents food, and refused to assist in light cleaning and heating food. Out of 600 people we found one angel. She was a blessing to our mom. Thankfully we found a new company that pays their employees more, and that will hire our mom's angel. In working in the elder care industry I am at a loss why and how this company is still in business. I will be making sure my fellow industry people know about Coast Care. read more

I started using Coast Care by referral from my mom's insurance company. The first caregiver they sent has been with us now almost a year. She has been an absolute God send. My mother has dementia and needs help with transportation, meals, bathing. She does it all with patience and love. Coast care has been easy to work with. They do regular check ins and schedule changes are easy. Highly recommend them although the cost is high. read more

My 70 year old Dad broke his hip, had surgery and was being released from the skilled nursing facility earlier than we thought. I knew that I was going to need a caregiver and was worried I wouldn't be able to find one. I called Coast Care Partners and right away Brittany R. helped me. She was very empathic and made me feel better with my situation. I had a care giver 3 days later. I still speak with Brittany regarding my schedule or about any concerns I have and it's always addressed right away. Its been about 2 months and my Dad only needs a care giver 2 days a week now, but Coast Care works around my schedule and is good about letting me know who will be caring for my Dad each day. I have been a nurse 40+ years mostly with home health. I needed assistance with my early Alzheimer's spouse. My friend a nurse hospital case manager recommended I contact them. I've had a scheduled day for the past 6 months and the care givers sent out have exceeded my expectations. They have been very professional and my very picky husband has liked each one. We have a regular day but I have requested date changes due to busy life and have had several different people. Each really good. They have accommodated my changes and not missed a day. We had such a great experience with Coast Care Partners. Here's the email I sent them after their great service: I wanted to thank you for the great service your team provided to all of us. Everyone was so communicative and kind. I was always updated on shift changes and who would be with our Mama at every moment. It's a great crew you have and they all cared for our Mama with such tenderness. I did want to call out three people in particular that I felt were extra special. Tammi was the first care giver when Mama first came back home. She took the time to really know what our Mom's needs were, what she could and couldn't do, and took so much time to talk to us. The second standout was Elizabeth. She had the weekend shifts and she really helped me a lot cleaning out our Mom's apartment. We cleaned out drawers and cupboards and the closet. She worked hard to help me clear out anything that was appropriate to clear out at the time. She was a God-send. The last person that really stood out to us was Andrew. He was the gentlest, most tender soul who stood over Mama the whole time he was there adjusting her and always making sure she was so comfortable. He made us all feel like he cared about our Mom as much as we did. He is a gem. I think 2 is generous given that 4 out of the 5 caregivers sent to us were let go. 17 days and 1 out of 5 are good. Not good. 2 of the night staffers were sleepers. Yes, they sat in a chair and fell asleep. Fortunately I was there to see this and sent them home. My dad needed 2 people to tend to his end of life days. If anyone was to get some sleep it would have been me or my sister. But no, the paid person decided it would be okay since one of us was there. Unbelievable. And to have it happen twice in one week. There was a night person that just didn't show up, no call or excuse. Just didn't show. The day person liked to play on her iPad and watch movies rather than watch dad. Several times he pulled his oxygen and other great things and she didn't see. Too engrossed in her iPad. She spilled on him 3 times so we had to completely remake the bed. 1 week of her was enough. Even dad said she does nothing right, get rid of her. We so wanted this care team to work so we could relax a bit and maybe get some sleep. Now on to the 2 stars. One star is for Brittany the salesperson. Her pitch is sharp and if the caregivers were like her this company would be great. She said all the right things and knows how the job should be done. The biggest star is for caregiver Lorenzo. He was our night person 5 nights a week and we could relax and snooze in the chair off and on. There was a lot of down time so Lorenzo was able to read but he always had his eyes where he could see if dad stirred. He bonded with dad right away and could take cues as to when to step in and when to hold back. I cannot recommend this company based on one caregiver so I'd say watch who they send you. Their pitch is great, their knowledge of the people they send is poor. And now, just to rub salt in the wound. The billing department is a nightmare. I was assured I would not be charged for the sleeper, it's on the bill. They have days of overtime charge but I cannot get an explanation. Some days overtime, other days just straight time. There is no way to pay online but there's already a late fee applied. Billed on a Saturday, due on Monday? How am I supposed to make that happen? They have not billed insurance and we have insurance to cover at least part of this. What a disorganized mess this company is. read more

My family had some complications with this organization, and we are currently seeking other support for our caregiver needs. At first, we were really impressed with what they seemed to have to offer. Despite the exorbitant cost of care, we believed we would be receiving quality care for our loved one, and having their staff be available right away felt like a huge relief. The services they offered seemed priceless. Unfortunately, things went downhill very quickly. The owners/managers are very engaging, nice people, and were seemingly thorough and available for any questions we had; however, the quality of some of the caregiver staff working for them is highly questionable. Over the brief 2 week period we have been receiving services through this organization, of note were instances such as: - Staff arriving for their shift late by more than an hour without prior notice - Problems with staff getting lost and not having had the foresight to locate their destination address in advance or think to try to leave early in order to arrive on time for their first shift - Letting their client have multiple falls during one shift, despite the fact that they were being paid for direct 1:1 care specifically to avoid personal injury of the client - Staff witnessed asleep on the job For people needing direct 1:1 constant observation and care for their safety, these issues are appalling and completely unacceptable. People are entrusting these caregivers with the safety and wellbeing of their loved ones, and paying quite the premium for it. The experiences we had with some of the caregivers of this organization were frightening and disheartening. Overall, our experiences with this organization have made an already stressful and emotionally draining situation even more painful and difficult. read more

We interviewed several In Home Care companies and decided on Coast Care Partners to care for our Mother....what a mistake‼ The initial interview with representative who came to our home went well, she was very convincing. We had a 3 day trial (@ a lower rate) -on the first day she walked through our door, we were blown over with the scent of very "heavy perfume" We had placed our Mother's hospital bed in the office of our home, close to a sun lit living room, easy access for all medical staff etc., We asked the caregiver to stay with Mom through the night, in order to switch her laying positions as recommended by our Physician. We were informed we would need to get our nightly rest in order to meet our daily activities the next day. All through that first night the care giver coughed & coughed. At 2:30am we went into the room and offered a cough drop, which was declined. We were worried that the care giver might infect our Mother with a cough/cold or us for that matter.(?) We contacted the person who signed us up, explained our concerns asked for someone who wasn't sick, she sent a message to the company. We waited and waited the next day to hear back from someone about who would be coming and put our concerns at ease. No call was received, we called the company @ 5:30pm and very rudely were told the same person was coming back that evening. That evening we checked our monitor at 2:30-am to see that our Mother was doing fine and if she had been turned? No she was in the same position as she was when we said good-night(?) we couldn't see the care giver until we discovered that she was asleep behind the door in the office‼ She was asked to leave. We immediately sent an email to the company explaining the situation and asking for our final bill. This has been our experience and hope it will give you insight to the personnel this company believes are "professional individuals" This person was the furthest from being professional from the heavy perfume to falling asleep. A closing note the company assured us that the night staff personnel stay awake to assist the patient all through the night. read more

For about one month, Coast Care has been providing exemplary care for an elderly & difficult to manage friend of mine Toni Biggs, the home health care manager & RN, has been extremely generous with her time, advice & guidance. Both she & Amy Glick, the LCSW, were extremely kind & patient during the initial interview, when my friend was very upset & despairing. Rachel, the housecleaner & shopper, has been most attentive & conscientious. I am puzzled to read Catherine's negative review from over a year ago 3/14: it is like reading about a completely different organisation than the one I've experienced. When I was in a very vulnerable state trying to find a caregiver I was given some recommendations through Sharp Hospital and Coast Care was one of them. My experience with these people was HORRIFIC. They demand a large down payment (which I guess is normal but not for the garbage service I received from this company!!) and the case manager (??) whatever it's called, AMY GLICK is a total ____. Amy is so fake I could see it right away, my grandfather was on hospice, with literal DAYS left to live and she is suggesting our family PAYS their company to have someone come in and CLEAN!!!! Like that's what we're worried about right now??? Omg, luckily we came to our senses and quickly hired another care-giving company but not before dealing with Amy Glick who is CLUELESS about this business, the hospice RN's TOLD ME I SHOULD FIRE COAST CARE because they could SEE the incompetence. The first "care giver" they sent to the house, who we needed specifically to help change (the DIAPERS of!!) my grandfather, told me straight out, "Oh I don't do that.", well then what the h$%# are you here for?? That same care giver also kept bugging me about getting the WiFi password and when I was going to the grocery store asked me if I could get her a sandwich, my treat of course. LOL!!! NO I didn't get her a sandwich. I caught another one of their caregivers GOING THROUGH MY DECEASED GRANDMOTHER'S DRAWERS!! I was so shocked I just said, "Oh don't worry, it's fine" because I had a lot bigger things to worry about but I'm warning people of the "quality" of care-givers this dump sends out. This stupid company caused me so much stress during such a stressful time I'll NEVER forget it and I wanted to make sure to write this very honest and scathing review because that's what these JERKS deserve. I just can't describe to you how awful it was dealing with these people. Amy claims she's some kind of licensed something-or-other, she wanted to know the "game plan" or some other stupid word for my grandfather - um he was DYING, most people going on HOSPICE don't have MUCH of a game plan AMY you idiot!! Yes I'm still quite angry about my experience but every word I have said is 100% true and I wouldn't recommend Coast Care to anybody, EVER. good riddance!! read more

I have been a caregiver with this company for the better part of the year, and must say that I am impressed! I have no qualms, as I am working Monday through Friday. I work for a great lady who is wonderful and we have too much fun together. It doesn't feel as if I am going to work, but to see a good friend. The company is very giving and helpful to its staff and clients. When my car broke down they were going out of their way to help me get transportation to work. They are big on communication so that they can make sure both staff and client is satisfied. I can't imagine working anywhere else. read more

I cannot say enough about the quality of care my family received from Coast Care. They cared for two people, my grandfather and grandmother, who were so near and dear to me that I could not imagine leaving them in someone else's care; however, I did not live close to them and had to give care giving a chance. And did they ever live up to the task! They actually provided better care for my grandmother than a member of my own family did. They improved my grandmother's quality life in so many ways, they were blessings beyond words, truly an answer to prayer. I want to thank them from the deepest part of my heart for not just caring for, but loving, my family like they part of it. They brought quality and joy to a 94 year old woman that I did not think was possible. Awesome company.........if you want to give away money. Quality of care, like everywhere, depends on the nurse, some did the bare minimum - barely, some were adequate and some are fantastic. My problem with the company was that when the nurse call's to clock in, (at 9:30 in my case) if she calls' at 9:29 you get charged for an extra 15 min which for me is $7.50, which I'll admit does not sound like much, but added up along with the extra 1/2 hours and 45 min's, from where, I no not, my bill ran an extra $150 - $200 a month. After I fired them, the owner called and I ran it down to him, he had the unmitigated gall to tell me he had been "aware of the situation", working on it and has made it right with some other clients and I must have slipped thru the cracks. He said the nurses got paid the overages, but I looked on the calendar for the previous month and compared it to the bill - the calendar has 9:30 - 1:30 but the bill has 4.25 hours for the day. This had been going on since last year......not to mention I singed on for $21 an hour and in Jan they went up to $26. Coast Care has provided care for my mother in law since September 2013. We've been very happy with their quality of service and attention to detail. My MIL is 87 and lives in an assisted living facility in their memory care unit. My wife and I live in Utah. Coast Care helps assure that we are providing the highest quality of life for my MIL and this can be quite challenging. Coast Care has been very sensitive to our needs and very proactive in suggesting areas of improvement. They are systematic in their approach and carefully review their own performance so that improvements apply system wide. We get regular reports on activities during the reporting period including photos that I share with our family. On a recent trip to San Diego, they accommodated our needs by picking up my wife so that she could be with her mother for the day's activities. I'm giving them four stars because I think there is always room for improvement. They are not perfect, but in my opinion they are the best in the industry. read more
