My wife had her lower teeth removed 6 weeks ago and and has nothing but problems since and was unable keep dentures given to her in her mouth, she miss placed denture they gave her 6 weeks ago and went back to office to get replaced bottom plate, she was told by front desk on 06/29/26 they didn't have records to get new bottom plate from 6 weeks ago and would need a new appt to get new bottom teeth! Coastal dental in orange city is the WORST! I unfortunatly picked them for my bottom dentures, that after 6 months, and around $5.000 They still havent deliverd. The office manager (Tanya) is beyond rude and un- friendly. They were nice until I paid in full, and now wont even let me talk to the dentist or give him my messages! As a follow up to my first visit on 1/4... Coast Dental had diagnosed me with gingivitis in one tooth. Their proposed treatment plan was a series of 4 treatments to this one tooth. One treatment every 3 months for a total of $744. Then I went to another dentist and he said I don need any of that. Huh. That's odd. This is the worst Dental office I've ever been to. Went into have a bottom back tooth pulled and they wanted to deep clean my teeth first for over a 1000 that was all they were concerned about. I couldn't do the deep cleaning because I wasn't in there for that. I should of known better when I read All the bad reviews on here and on there reg. site. Stating over charging people. Avoid this outfit like the plague. The staff was beyond rude not only to myself but to other customers. Flabbergasted at their attitude. After they get you in the back they start trying to sell you junk services the insurance company won't cover. Complete garbage. After almost 2 hours of being there for a cleaning I upped and walked out as I was not caving to their sales pressures. They tried telling me I needed a cancer screening for $37 and all these gold plate services that were nothing but junk. They didn't like that I stood firm and said no. If I could give this business a zero that's what I would do. Always worked with this office with insurance and would let the office know if I wanted the work done or not. My last visit the office never said they maxed out my insurance. Went home and ended up getting a bill in the mail for $821 dollars. When I called the office they said my insurance was maxed out and I was responsible for that balance. If I would have known that then I would not have had the work done. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. When I first went in for a cleaning they stated I needed a deep cleaning and the charge would be $3590. They also told me I needed additional work at a later date and that would be another $3014. I explained to the hygienist that I did not have that amount of money on me at the time, so she immediately handed me a tablet and tried to get me to apply for a couple different credits cards, both with interest rates over 18%. I felt like they were trying to pressure me into getting the work done ASAP. I stood firm and told her that I would reschedule when I was ready to get the work done. Why did they call AND text me at 8:00 am the very next morning to tell me they could fit me in that day, when I was clear I would let them know when I was ready. So, I decided to go to another dentist to see what was really going on. The total for the deep cleaning at the new dentist, $379.20. That is a difference of $3210.80..Coast dental wanted $2400 alone for just the antibiotic treatment that my insurance didn't cover. They said I needed the antibiotic on 40 different sites in my mouth, but the new dentist said I only needed 3 different sites. Each treatment is $60. This practice is only after your money so please beware. There is no telling how much money they are swindling from unsuspecting people for unnecessary procedures. If you know anyone going there, especially someone elderly, please look out for them. Question everything with this practice. They are scammers!!! read more

I used to really love going to the dentist. My former dentist was getting so booked up it was impossible to get an appointment so I needed to try a new provider. I chose Coast Dental because of the nearby location, and the fast availability (I have been diagnosed with TMJ and needed a mouth guard made so I can alleviate pain) -- I haven't been to the dentist since before COVID19 because it hasn't been a necessity. I had to go the this office twice, and both times I was sorely disappointed in the staff. On my first visit, I was happy that there was no waiting room, you're encouraged to wait in your vehicle so distancing is enforced. They had a COVID questionnaire, and did a temperature check. The staff in the front were all wearing masks and behind glass. I thought this would be a good sign that it was a clean place and they were COVID19 conscious but I was wrong. As soon I was called back inside, I was taken to the x-ray room. I had advised them I was a new patient and needed a mouth guard made for TMJ when I made the appointment a week prior. The woman running the x-ray portion introduced herself, and asked, "Which tooth hurts?" I explained again what I needed and she said, "Oh! You need a COMPLETE exam, that isn't what your appointment was for, and we don't have time for that. You need to reschedule. I'll take you up front." I immediately was brought up front and rescheduled for 8 days later at the same time (14:00/2:00 PM) My next appointment I showed up and went through the same motions. They asked the same COVID questions, got the same forms to fill out (until I told them I did the forms just a week before, then they looked for my file) and I was brought into the x-ray room again. This time, the office was filled with workers remodeling. They were drilling/wiring, and one gentleman who was wiring a new light switch had his mask hanging around his neck the whole time. This isn't a well ventilated or large space, and I started feeling very uncomfortable. A different x-ray tech came in from last time, never introduced herself, and once again I was asked, "Which tooth hurts?" I explained what brought me in once again and she left the room in a hurry, she seemed kind of annoyed when I mentioned needing a mouth guard. She was gone for a few minutes so I just stared uncomfortably at the maskless man. When she returned, she kindly explained to me that I needed a COMPLETE EXAM (wasn't that what I rescheduled for?!) and I was "LUCKY" they could do it that day. WHAT THE ACTUAL &$@*? I started getting upset but listened as she started setting up the x-ray machine. I noticed she did not wash her hands before putting on gloves, after she had touched and moved about 10 different objects, including a laptop on a cart that appeared to be accessed by multiple users daily. She took a panoramic x-ray and moved on to the individual sides of my mouth. She instructed me to open wider (I have a small mouth, and my TMJ makes it difficult to stretch my jaw lately) and I told her that. She told me they couldn't accommodate me, and I needed to open wider or she'd have to "make it work" -- apparently that meant CUTTING OPEN THE ROOF OF MY MOUTH after jabbing her tool inside. I told her my mouth was bleeding and it was too painful. She did not stop, she rotated the large tool inside my bleeding mouth and I asked her to please stop, I couldn't do it. She said she'd get someone else to do it. The second woman came in, no introduction again, no hand washing again, and her mask didn't go over her nose (gross) -- and immediately tries to insert the tool again, and I was crying at this point, I said it hurt too bad and I had to leave. I don't know who hired these people, but they did not listen to me or offer any advice or tips to help make this work. I have never had issues getting these x-rays before. I've also never left a dental appointment without an examination before with my mouth filling with blood. DO NOT COME HERE. The office is dusty from construction, and the techs they hire don't wash their hands and only rely on gloves to be "sanitary." I can't imagine how gross these employees were before the pandemic. read more

Took.my 13 yr old daughter in to this office for a General cleaning .She saw Rachel. Rachel is always kid friendly and reassures Aundrea- who is Dentist phobic. Courtney, the Office Manager is always asking how we are doing. Tanya Burke, Dental Assistant here at this office is over the top amazing- hard worker and is buzzing around the office. She knows of Aundrea Welch' s fear of coming to Dentist and will show her pictures ahd help.ease her anxiety. Tanya Burke keeps the office very orderly and clean and truly cares about her patients. She and Rachel explain the procedure to her. Dr Milena Diaz DMD, is so upbeat,warm and friendly. Aundrea loves to come to see Dr Diaz. Today, the newest Receptionist was very personable as well. If they are unable ti treat you, they will refer out for you. Always in the back in a timely manner. Highly recommendable. read more

The bottom line here is that this is a dental sweatshop fully equipped with cubicles and the scurrying of employees from one patient to the next with the only goal of up-selling and getting you back ASAP. This is a chain. The current dentist at this location is not the problem. He (Bowen) is actually pretty skilled. The management of this location is utterly and blatantly unprofessional. Anyone having to deal with Maddy (the office "manager") will know exactly what I am talking about. For instance, and there are many, once I had a bridge done. The temporary fell out and the dentin was exposed, if you have never experienced this -- this is the most painful feeling I've ever felt (and Ive had many and have a high tolerance for pain) - do you know what Maddy told me? "Oh, don't worry about it -- just take a Tylenol or better yet go to the pharmacy and get some temporary dental cement." Ultimately I did go back to get the bridge work completed and was also set up with a followup with the hygienist. She was gone before we met again - what did the office do? They kept canceling my appointment while they tried to get a replacement or a temp to fill the spot. I found this out through a colleague that was a patient. She, too, has since cut them off. So, yes, the turnover here is high. One day its the receptionist, the next its the hygienist. Do yourself a favor - skip the dental sweatshops and look for a private practice where you can get the one on one you deserve. Check with your insurance -- more and more are available today and this no longer considered a luxury. I do not expect this office (or chain for that matter) to be in business much longer. Full disclosure: I was a sucker, erm, patient for over three years. I stuck around because of the convenience (close to home) and because of the dentist and hygienist (i liked them both). But now I am reassessing all the work (amounting in thousands of dollars [not covered]) that I had done in the past and I'm considering therapy. Good luck. read more

I went to this location because Deltona location had no dental hygienist. This was not a great appointment, I understand during the COVID-19 things are different but I can tell this staff in office needs to be updated and cleaned. The first thing I noticed was the dirty light they used to look inside your mouth, they didn't even wipe the light off it was visibly dirty. The dental hygienist was very nice and she was the only one that seem to know what she's doing. The dirty walls are also a turn off, and the x-ray room is awful. The one thing that really disturbed me, was the lady who took my x-rays had gloves on and when she went out side the door to take the x-ray she put her hand on the wall and kept touching the entrance of The door. She did not change gloves in between and she use the other hand to adjust the x-ray inside my mouth I was so appalled that she did not realize she kept touching the wall with the same gloves. The last thing that turned me off from this office, was the confusion with the payments. They put my one visit into two and did not explain that there were separate payments for each visit I signed paperwork with the intention it was the same payment because they were both $25. When I got to the counter to check out it ended up being $50 they never explained it and charge me for fluoride which the lady told me that my cleaning was completely covered. I do not like the miscommunication between all parties it was very confusing and I definitely will not be returning to this location. read more

I would recommend you DO NOT go to Coast Dental in Orange City Florida! I had a small filling there. It fell out in a matter of weeks. Staff agreed it should be refilled for free, but HQ had to approve. I waited 3 weeks, but they forgot to send in the paperwork. Then they told me it would take 6 to 8 weeks for a decision. I followed up after 8 weeks. HQ had not responded. I decided to get it refilled on my own dime there, then switch dentists. I've called twice for an appointment. No return call. I will go to another dentist for this filling. Also, the office is very shabby. If you look at the ceiling vents, they are very dirty. Worst dental experience I've ever had! read more

I have had 3 appointments with this location. The lady who does cleanings is nice and sweet. But the dentist is one of the worst I have ever been to. They just changed dentists and she has zero people skills, I can't understand her broken English, and is generally a rude and mean person. She was an hour late to the office, causing me to wait for an hour in my car for her. She then had me wait in the chair for 30min! Then when she came is she did not introduce herself and just started reviewing my teeth and care plan. She will not explain anything to you and will just begin working on you without asking you anything. I came in to get a filling on my bottom tooth and she just started on my top filling that I did not want done yet! I would rather get my appendix removed than go here again. read more

In April 2019 the hygienist made a mistake assuming one of my teeth was decayed and immediately performed an x-ray, called in the dentist and he stated that there was no decay. The hygienist and dentist apologized however they sent me the bill. BTW not once did she consult with the dentist to order images. I called to dispute charges since it was their mistake and they exposed me to unnecessary radiation and they said they would write of charges. When I returned for my routine yearly exam 6 months later they performed x-rays and once again I was billed. I called to verify and the biller (Joyce or Joy) was rude and couldn't even explain why I was being charged. I finally convinced to investigate charges and told me that my insurance paid for the x-rays in April and now they wouldn't pay the current one. I explained again what had happened and I wasn't too happy that they were paid in April and billing me which is fraud! The biller refused to write it off and I told her I would transfer and she said, "okay." I have been going to Coast Dental Orange City for many years including my family and have always paid my bills up front and kept my appt. however their staff member that takes care of billing treated me as if I was a number and with so many wonderful dentist it was easy to transfer. I am a nurse and we treat our patient's like family and once the staff treats you like a number you already know it's only a money maker. read more

This office here at the Orange City location, is the BEST! dental office I ever been at. Dr. Bowen has totally fixed my problematic teeth, that I've had problems with for many years. He was a miracle worker with my teeth, and still is, in maintaining them. He does with no other dentist has done for me, and remind you I am 63 years old. Dr Bowen has a wonderful assistant who's name is Tonya. She is equally professional as Dr. Bowen is. Thu Ha Bacha, ( Pronounced TooHa ) is my hygienist there at Coast Dental. I must honestly say that she is the VERY BEST! hygienist EVER! ( GUARANTEED ) you won't find anyone better. BELIEVE ME! She is a wonderful lady. Very experienced, very professional, charming and charismatic. The front desk lady, Maddie has always been very helpful and accommodating to me. Always wearing a very pleasant smile.
