We have been going there for over 20 years. Went way downhill since Dr Nash left in 2020. Always new people every 6 months. Husband waited 1.5 hours in waiting room only to give him a no show and even called his wife (me) saying he never showed. I panicked but he was there! After having an appointment scheduled for over 6 weeks. I received a call the day before stating that they need to verify the insurance information. Keep in mind the call center who take the information had it all wrong when I first scheduled the appointment. I resolved that within days of noticing. However, the reason for the 1 star is that in the last 4 weeks I had received two other calls to update the same information. This was the THIRD TIME. The office manager, Stephanie, blamed it on the call center being "dumber than a box of rocks" and that the receptionist had only been there a total of 5 days. She then stated that they didn't accept the insurance and cancelled the appointment. Now I am left looking for a new provider. Very unprofessional. read more

Me and my husband have been going to Coast dental for about a year now. Every-time we go we are always greeted by the friendly staff and have been taken well care of. I had gone to other dentists prior to coming here as I was referred by a friend. And the other dentist had tried to tell me work had to be done and tried to charge my almost $1,000.00. (Even with my insurance) Then I had came to Coast Dental, they said I didn't need all of that work done and they only charged me about $300. Tarpon Springs Coast Dental charged me $2,000 to make partials in April. Pulled a front tooth but 2 sets of partials were made incorrectly and in June Dr. Avila gave up and said they would refund my money and that would take 3 months! I am not sure about the brand Coastal Dental, but Dr Scott Horovitz and his staff are hands down the best dental experience I have ever had! I moved away 5 years ago and have been searching for a replacement ever since. I hate the dentist! Dr Horovitz always made me feel comfortable. He explained every procedure and the cost. He usually gave me a couple of treatment options, I never felt pressure to choose the plan I could not afford. On most visits he would come to the waiting room to greet patients, usually by name. I have been to several dentists who seem to never talk to me, usually directing the conversation towards their assistant. He always looked me in the eye, seemed more like a friend than my Dr. Not only great customer service but excellent work! He is very meticulous and cares about the patient over the bottom line. The dental hygienist is very good salesman. But if you say no because of cost he won't push things. It saddens me this office has 2 poor reviews from folks in CA. I have never had anything but a great experience in Port Richey, Fl. I am still searching for a great dentist here in Nashville. read more

Coast Dental is a scam. After my last visit I realized it is all about the money. If they tell you that you need work above and beyond your insurance, but you cannot afford it.. They will refuse to do any basic preventive that your insurance will cover and then kick you out of their office. Let me explain a little better. I was told that I needed a deep cleaning in a part of my mouth. Not my whole mouth. My insurance will only cover a standard cleaning. I called and explained this to the appointment setter. We scheduled a standard cleaning appointment. I arrived and was brought back to the chair. The cleaning technician had a piece of paper with description of work that needs to be done totaling $285. I explained that is a mistake. I am here for a routine cleaning that my insurance will pay for... The technician said, once you need a deep cleaning we can't give you a regular cleaning. I asked why she couldn't do a normal cleaning for preventative care she said that was their company policy. When I asked if I needed to find a different dentist, she walked me to the front and had me sign a release form with a generic saying "future health care provider". I was shocked that this was happening. Again my entire mouth didn't need this work done. Meanwhile I am way overdue on a cleaning and I am now having difficulty finding another dental office that will except me with their records. My insurance will not pay for another comrhensive exam, and other dental offices are refusing to except their medical findings... After doing some research this is a common practice for this Dental chain. They lure you in because they claim to except your insurance and then they will find anything they can and convince you to open a line of credit to pay for it. If you refuse and insist on only the basic treatments, they will refuse to provide that treatment and then kick you out of their practice. This is what I call unethical business practices.. stay away from this Dental Chain... read more

I was a patient of this dentist for some time. However I could not take the continuing rudeness of an employee. I had decided to go elsewhere after my next appointment which would conclude extensive dental work I had, had. I paid $400 cash and attended the appointment. The rude staff member was of course there and had her usual rude attitude. However her disgusting attitude was off the charts this visit. I left without getting any work done. My husband called to ask for my cash payment back and was told a refund would take several months even though I paid cash. I have contacted the corporate office many many times and have yet to have one call back. This dental office also pushes expensive cleanings on you that dental insurance does not cover. I told them my husband had been out of work due to CV and I was still pressured to have this procedure. I am still waiting for my $400 refund that I paid cash over a month ago. BEWARE CONSUMERS!!! UPDATE: Coast Dental replied to my comment by trying to look as if they care and are attempting to resolve the situation. However the telephone number stated below connects me to the same voicemail I have left countless message on, asking for my $400 refund. I can not believe I am going through this. I am registered disabled and therefore can not work and my husband is a vet of the US Army so $400 is a lot to my family. read more

Well, normally I would go to the dentist and complain about pain before and during the treatment,. But not here I didnt complain of pain at all. The only thing I would have liked better was the numbing gell before the needle. Overall very good. The people are very friendly ALSO, this does not mean all Coast Dentals. Terrible customer service. I called over a month ago to see if they were accepting new patients. The lady said "yes, but you're going to have to wait a month" . That was fine since my husband really liked the dentist and I wanted to give him a shot. Well, the night before my appointment I received a text confirming my appointment time of 8:30. The next day I arrived to my appointment 15 minutes early just in case I have new patient paperwork. I checked in and the lady told me my appointment wasn't till 11:30. I told her no, I am a new patient and I booked this over a month ago, plus you texted me to confirm my appointment. I showed her the text. She said "well they confirm appointments not in our office but rather in Guatemala". She said if the patient booked at 8:30 doesn't show up we can squeeze you in. Of course I wasn't happy but said okay. That patient did show up. In the mean time one of their patients called into the office. I could hear the employee saying " Sir, your appointment is Thursday, you can't cancel again, you have cancelled three times already!" By this point I was livid on how they were speaking to their patients. I didn't receive an apology or anything.. After sitting there till 9:15 I gave up and walked out. I would like to add t o Jennifer's review. I also went in to the dentist and scheduled a routine clean. They told me I needed a periodontal cleaning which my insurance didn't cover and that I had some cavities that needed filled. Along with one that I had in question because I had a filling fall out. That needs a crown I was told. $5000 in dental work after their exam is what they said I needed. Mind you, I have pretty healthy teeth and still have all of my teeth. "So can we clean my teeth now? That's what I came here for?" Their reply was no, I needed a periodontal cleaning and that my gums clean my teeth. So when would you like to come back in?? Hello! I dont have $5000 for you!! Dr.Scott was not happy the days I was unlucky enough to be thrown into my dealings with Coast Dental. Passive aggressive behaviour singing songs occasionally yet saying corporate has got to do something, he said he was there until six pm doing most of the days work solo and had to then go to his son's football game and didn't get home til nine or so. His assistant was now back but still sneezing and gripping a tissue. They pulled sixteen teeth in an hour, the last felt like he took some of my cheek bone with it. Very painful, no meds, alot of blood. Nothing ever got better with that office and the dentures I have are garbage. I wish they never touched me. Dr Scott acts nice...acts, key word, he is actually wound up and needs a vacation or something. He never showed me how to put dentures in and literally said, don't take your coat off, your dentures are right here and handed me the box with the dentures..I told him I didn't know how...and he left the room and came back with a small purple tube of denture adhesive, told me to use a thin line, and left to greet another patient. I have been going here for five years. The staff is very welcoming and they treat you like family. I needed twelve teeth extracted and Doc, as I call him, was so kind and understanding. Of course after that I had to have partials and he made sure they were perfect!!!!! Today I had an emergency visit and they got me right in!!!! I would not go anywhere else!!!
