WOW. We're so impressed, Bret knows his gym equipment and he's like a certifiable gym doctor. Here's the scoop.....our gym has had recurring issues with the treadmill and elliptical machines and it has been ULTRA FRUSTRATING. Mainly because they never were permanently fixed, but also because the guys that came out were expensive, late, and not very professional. =/ But when Bret came to the rescue the story changed and they're working like new again! Brett took a $95.00 service fee to repair our treadmill then 3 months of calls to find out he never ordered the replacement part. Never fixed the machine. I bought the part myself and had it installed in about 10 minutes. I want my money back. This guy is a joke. read more

I called California Gym Repair for help with an elliptical that kept shutting off. Brett came out, took the piece of equipment apart and determined it "needed a part that he would need to order". He charged me $100.00 and said he would be back in a couple of weeks to install the part. It has been 2 months and he hasn't returned numerous phone calls or texts. Don't trust anything they say. I am now dragging the machine to the curb to be picked up by Waste Management. read more

Beware, Beware, Beware. Bret ripped us off. Took our money, and took the circuit board. Bret was late all the time for any appointment. That should have been my first clue. He says 18 years experience he is not even old enough to have that much experience. Bret came to fix our treadmill said it was the circuit board took it with him plus our money said 1 week. He didn't come back for 2. He did not even know how to reconnect the board when he came back. He had to look it up on line and evidently he got that wrong because he smoked it when he tried to start it up. He said it was the fault of the people who fixed it. Took the part and said he was going to put a rush on it. Tomorrow he said. Next day I call him I want to know what's going on. He had not even dropped it off yet. Then a week latter he wants to take my whole treadmill. I told him just give me back my part. It's been about 6 weeks now no part, no phone call nothing. Bret said my treadmill was out of date. We just had our treadmill fixed by someone who knew what he was doing. We have a Landice they were made to last. We have come to find out that the only thing that was wrong with our treadmill was the connection for the key. Stay far away from California Gym Repair. read more

Brett fixed my elliptical back in November. While it took a little while to get the part it wasn't his fault. To save some money I had my lift motor refurbished rather than replaced which took some time. Brett was easy to get a hold of and showed up on time. I recently had an issue with my elliptical yet again and feared the worst that it was again throwing itself out of calibration, Brett came out in a day's notice and determined that it was a small crumb of paper on the track. Had a LED panel that wouldn't light up for a treadmill. Called Brett, game him manufacturer and model number and he said he would come out and take a look. He came as promised, determined the battery was only at half charged, he didn't have a replacement battery (you would think he would have a few different batteries that he would bring to service calls) so this was the end of the service call (10 minutes later). Then proceeded to charge $125 for his service call fee (Which he never mentioned on the original phone call). I get that you need to charge something for a house call, but you need to mention this over the phone!!! Said that I needed to buy a new battery and then he could come out again (for another $125), and that might not even be the actual problem. Completely Ridiculous Experience. I do not recommend this guy/company. read more

I own three personal training studios and we are always snapping cables on the pulley's or breaking belts on machines. One of my trainers alerted me that another cable was sent off on its final lift and I googled fitness repair Orange County. Bret and his company popped up first and I gave it a go. Bret did a great job repairing my elliptical machine. It took several trips, but the machine is running great now. Very happy with the work done. I wish I could give a ZERO rating. The tech Brett came to my house to repair my elliptical. The screw broke off in the axle (which I told him before he even came out), so he took the equipment apart and said he had to order parts and would call us back to set up a date to come back. We never heard from him. We called and called and left messages and finally he called 2months later saying he had a family emergency. We can all understand a family emergency but to take 2 months to call back seems hard to believe but since he has already come and charged me 120.00 to just take my equipment apart I thought I would give him another chance. That was November and we have once again called and called and left messages and he never called back..... and to this day has not called back. How do you run a business when you screw up and you get another chance and you do the same thing again. So basically I gave this guy 120.00 to take my equipment apart and leave it in my garage, I could have done that myself. I even told him what the problem was, he could have fixed all of it the first time he was here. I do not think he knows what he is doing and just abandons customers if he is unable to fix their equipment. I want my money back. This guy should not be in business wasting people's time like this. read more
