My experience with Jana, the manager of the alcohol section, was "head and shoulders" above any customer service I've ever experienced. Jana took my order, sent me a spreadsheet reflecting my purchase for my daughter's wedding, and made adjustments per my request. On the day I picked up the alcohol, Jana was waiting with the alcohol and her assistants to help load it into two SUVs. Following the wedding I returned the unused, unopened alcohol, and Jana again made the process seamless. She reimbursed me for my returns. All in all Jana made this process so easy it was actually not only enjoyable but also fun to deal with the Coast Guard Exchange. You can find liquor at a much better price here than outside at a liquor store. It's a cross between a mini-exchange and a full exchange. Definitely on the smaller side of exchanges I've been to, but they have a decent selection of clothes, shoes, cosmetics, electronics, home goods, and pet supplies. Dog food is cheaper here than outside, but their stock is kind of hit and miss. They haven't had my dog's favorite kibble the last 3 times I've visited. It is a gem of a store that caters to government employees in the Coast Guard, DHS and retired military. It has all the thinks most exchanges have, especially tax-free shopping. Every little bit helps in the NOVA area. Electronics, clothes, sporting goods (including a gun counter) and a huge class 6 section. I was told about 1/2 of all sales are from the booze offered. Brand new. Lots of helpful staff visible, polite, and available; which was a nice surprise and almost never seen in large stores anymore. There is a Class VI inside which was also a surprise as I have been receiving their mailouts and don't remember that being mentioned. I rarely go to Centreville but saw their electronic sale ad for this weekend only so specifically went to look for a small laptop. Like most exchanges they had a nice selection of Apple, but I wanted something under a thousand bucks, so was looking at their collection of Dell and Acer. Honestly it was the smallest selection of laptops I've seen in an exchange. They had 8-10 and 3 special game types. They had 4 in the size I was looking at, and the prices were what I was expecting, but when I looked them up the models were over 2 years old. Which would have been ok, I don't need the latest and greatest for what I want to use it for, but I could get them for the same price or slightly less online. I would like to support the CGX but if I have tons more options online and can find something with newer technology at around the same price then that's where I'm going. Still a very nice store. I'll be back if there's anything I need that I saw there. read more

I love this Exchange! They have ample parking plus two EV charging stations. You get two hours of free charging so you can get charged up while you shop. How cool is that! They are conveniently located in Centreville so depending on what time you head there, it could get congested. If you live in the area and you're a military person, make sure you come by and check them out. There's a lady by the front door that checks military ID card so be prepared to get asked and show it to them. The staff was really friendly- they all greeted us when we came in. The store still smelled like a brand new store. It was great. I walked around and checked out their aisles. It's a typical exchange. They were pretty stocked up and everything looked in order and arranged properly. We specifically came here to get a bottle of bourbon for a friend and let me tell you - their selection is amazing. We won't go anywhere else. Probably better than Ft. Myer or Belvoir. They had a HUGE selection of wine, alcohol, beer - you name it. Of course, they were priced a lot lower than your local ABC so we definitely came to the right place. We picked up four different bottles since they were such a great deal! I highly recommend. The cashier was a trainee but she was very friendly and efficient. She told me about the rewards program so I signed up and also gave me two gift cards worth $10 since I spent over $200. I guess I'm going to have to come back next week :) As I was walking out the building, I realized that the cashier accidentally gave me an extra dollar so I came back around and gave her the dollar back. Wow! This is not your father's exchange! Apparently this store has just opened in convenient Centreville. Beautiful displays and those military discounts on merchandise I had no idea I could get here: luxury leather brands, fashionable women''s and men's clothes (Vineyard Vines, North Face, Uggs, Kuhl etc). And the booze! Wowza. Every brand you can imagine including a great selection of single malt scotches and hard to find bourbons. I stocked up on my beloved Angel's Envy. The staff was courteous and knowledgeable, something that is all too rare in brick and mortar stores. Come Black Friday, I will definitely be Stocking up on electronics as they had grest prices. As we were driving past my daughter asked could we stop and go in because she needed makeup for the wedding. When got to the front to check out we only saw one light on while the guy in mask that was in the second just stood their at us with his light off. It took the sale manager to tell us that the guy lane was up. Soon as we walked up he didn't greet us he looked like he was upset he had to service us. As we put the items on the counter he was do you have a card I said yes I do . I showed him the card my daughter put the makeup on the counter. He said to my daughter do you have a card she said yes but I forgot it home. He then started yelling at her that she can't pay and I said I would pay.you don't have to talk to her like that. She thought that since we on the account together as she is minor that she pay. He started getting louder saying I told you couldn't pay to my daughter and she that's okay I don't want it anymore because people were looking us. I told him you don't talk to kids like that. It was so bad I had to pick the makeup up and all the other things and go to the next register. I spoke with the manager he acted like he really didn't care. This was really embarrassing and so unprofessional He didn't even take time to go to the guy in the mask to ask what happened. That probably why he thought he could speak to my daughter like that. Someone needs to train the management staff better on how to handle situations like this to avoid negative reviews like this. Please make sure your kids have their ID if not they will getting treated like trash and it sad because I spend a lot of money at this location next time I will go to Fort Belvoir. read more

BOOM hands down the biggest CGX that I have seen in my life!!! What it is doing in the middle of centerville... I have no idea. But i'm so glad such installation exist to allow service members to visit. Staff is polite, the area is super clean, and plenty of parking. They have the package store, clothes, exercise, and electronics all here. I'm still... surprised it exist but very happy that it does. read more

This large shopping center serves military members and their family members. Purchasing is restricted to those with military identification. Prices are very competitive and there is no sales tax. You can find all types of products, including clothing, jewelry, cosmetics, alcohol, food, and sporting goods. All on one level, restrooms easily accessible. It was their grand opening today so they still have many kinks to work out but I think they'll be fine after they get settled. The staff were helpful in helping find products. We signed up for their exchange rewards and got $10 off of our purchase. So I'm not from around the area but I would definitely return if I lived nearer. read more

My family and I were excited to find out there is an Exchange close by. This Exchange definitely has that oh so brand new feel to it, it's so neat and bright inside. We've already been here twice. They conduct military ID checks at the door before you enter, so be prepared to pull it out. All the employees are incredibly nice and helpful. The shoe department has a ton of brands but noticed a few missing that we have on base such as Converse, Hunter, and Sorel. The alcohol section was amazing. I actually lost my husband for half an hour while he looked. They also offered wine tastings when we were there. Sadly our kids noticed right away that there isn't a toy section. Be sure to sign up for their rewards program. You earn a point for every dollar that you spend. Once you earn 500 points you get $10 off your next purchase. read more

I really like this exchange. I live off base in Fairfax so this exchange has a better location for my family than the nearby bases. What sets this exchange apart from Ft. Belvoir, Ft. Meyer, and Quantico is the staff's attention to detail. I find the staff are always quick to help locate what I'm looking for and offer suggestions. Our son recently completed his service honorably from the Army. On Dec. 22, 2021, he took us Christmas shopping at CG Exchange in Centerville around 4pm. At the register, a lady identified herself as the store manager refused to let him purchase items because of some reason about not having an up-to-date ID. His ID expired as he just recently finished service and when politely explained by him, she continued to refuse sale and immediately took all the merchandise away in front a line of customers. She said "You can't shop here". He's been shopping at this location frequently since they've opened, and recently as well, and this has never happened before. If I was her as a store manager, especially during a difficult time like the pandemic and Christmas season; I would look into that young's soldier face and tell him: " It's not your fault", and allow him to purchase the gifts for his family. With good customer service, I would then mention what proper identification requirements are needed to shop here, so that no confusion is had again. Otherwise people are going to waste their time and end up being turned away in a rude, unprofessional manner. A question I have is why are Military ID's accepted at the door but then refused at the checkout register? Anyone who has a CAC and recently separated from the military is going to have a expired ID, as the ID expires upon completion of service. If this is the stores rules, then the staff and manager need to provide better customer service in regards to what proper requirements are to enter and shop at this store. As I've mentioned before, we've never had an issue before and my son felt embarrassed, and disappointed in the service he received at the CGX in Centreville, Virginia. read more

There are no children's clothes for sale, which makes it a place where there is only specific items that military and government members would shop at.
