I'm an online shopper, I avoid going to the mall especially on weekends and holidays. But when I need some me time and a much needed retail therapy I go to Nordstrom Rack. This location is less than a mile from my house, very convenient and has plenty of parking available even on weekends. Even though this is not my fav Nordstrom Rack, (San Marcos, Ca. location has better shoe selection) I found my best deals here by far. Im super petite and tiny everywhere. I wear either a size 00, 0, XXS or XS depending on brand and fit in a size 4 or 4.5 shoes. Being tiny, it's hard to shop for clothes that fits me perfect outside of kids section. I find that I either pay full retail price or get really lucky with highly discounted odd size shoes or clothing regardless of the store I go to. So when I need a wardrobe update, I'll spend hours at NR and comb through the racks carefully if I want to find really high end brand name pieces for super low prices. Last time I went looking for a dress to wear to my brothers wedding in July, I found a super pretty floral dress for NOTHING!!! Original price was 172 on sale for 20 and I had a 40 dollar note sitting in my rewards account, so I paid zero for it... score!!! I've also gotten a blouse for a penny lol... say wha??? How is that even possible? Best deals to date: - Stuart Weiztman riding boots: paid 10.00 original price was 410.00 - Stuart Weiztman kitten heels suepump: paid 17.00 original price 199.00 - Ted Baker pink cocktail dress: 99.72 original price 1695.00 Above are just my fav buys, I've gotten really awesome finds and some of my fav treasured pieces at this store. Brands I love that I often find in this location are Stella McCarthy, SW Nudistsong (I have 4 pairs of different colors), Theory, Ted Baker, Bailey 44, lots and lots of Splendid, Via Spiga, Reformation and Badgley and Mischka shoes. Go in the morning during a weekday when everything is put away neatly. It's easier to comb through the racks when all's in order. read more

Checkout lines are always really long and the ventilation inside is poor. If you have trouble with allergies and asthma, you may want to really consider shopping at a different location. I was there to return a Nordstrom item and it took me well over 30+ minutes waiting in line. That was on a weekday afternoon too that wasn't during the holiday season. Can't say I love it. The rest of the store has ok selection of items. It has the lighting of Ross and the atmosphere too. Couldn't find anything I wanted to exchange my item with. read more

I wasn't sure why with all the women's and mens stuff, the ONLY mens item that was in the womens area was the cologne. The associates didn't understand that either, but not a big deal. Saturday afternoon and it's crowded, no shocker. There was sturdy, cute Kate Spade bag that wasn't on my list to purchase! I asked for assistance 3 times so it could be unlocked. I had a lot of patience to wait as it's for my mother. The 4th time requesting assistance and a couple over the headset resulted in a person asking me if I needed help. I said yes and pointed to the bag. Small talk was made and she took the bag to the register for security purposes. The whole experience was annoying to wait almost 30 minutes for someone to respond to the purse section knowing it's pretty much locked down. Why not have a person in the area with the keys to serve the customer?? Oh that's too much like great service!!! The cashier was helpful but I couldn't over hear a manager threaten to investigate who's pulling clothes and not putting them back! It was weird how she talked to the staff. This Nordstrom Rack location is unfortunately a big MISS. I come every now and then to browse their selection and most times; they lack new inventory. I can never find anything decent here. Their inventory looks like clothing items from 5-10 years ago that they keep circulating. If you're in the market for up to date styles and trends; do not come here. It does get quite busy here especially on the weekends. The check out lines are usually long and not enough registers open. You'll be lucky to find a sales associate on the floor to assist you. read more

Tis a shame, as used to find better deals here. I'm not sure why this is still in business, although it looks like it will. Once was a decent store. I had some luck with dress shirts, shoes, and colognes. Now a lot of what is "supposedly marked off," isn't a bargain. You'll be far better off at other discount stores. Even more so with online retailers. Expect long lines. There's usually only a few employees. As one can imagine, it can be a line of problematic folk's sometimes. I only like drama at the theatre. I am not sure what is going on here. It used to be a nice store. Now the cashiers are rude and very lazy. I waited to pick up an online order while one employee just stood at the other end of the counter. I finally just got in line and was told I should just go wait at the end of the counter next time. The same lady that was just standing there earlier was the one that finally got my order. She said the scanner was not working (there's only one?!?) Now I'll just have things delivered to my house, and only use the store for returns. Nobody really shops at Nordstrom anymore because of the great clothes. They are mediocre at best. But the return policy is still good, so it is worth putting up with. read more

I do not enjoy posting bad reviews on social media however this might help someone like me who is on a super strict budget! I will never order online from Nordstrom rack again! I went to go pay a bill today and to my surprise discovered they took the amount of my order which was 230.00 plus another 209.00 maybe for a security deposit?? I called the customer service number and they couldn't give me an answer regarding this matter nor did they care that this issue caused me a financial hardship and I was not able to conduct my business with other vendors due to this situation. This is the third time that I see an untrained dog inside Nordstrom Rack at Fair Lakes (on one occasion a tiny dog was inside a shopping cart). And this is not my first complaint about the same issue at other stores. Please note that my complaint is geared towards irresponsible pet owners and the business establishment, not the pets per se. Why is it necessary to bring an untrained dog into a store? Why do I have to buy new cosmetics, clothes or any other item with random pet hair or pet dander (dandruff)? Why should I endure that? Who protects my rights as a customer? While I understand that this is a pet-friendly society, I think that some entitled dog owners are taking advantage of this welcoming stance. On the other hand, retail businesses shouldn't assume that everybody feels comfortable with untrained animals inside a store. I am aware that this is being used as a marketing strategy, but I feel that this is inconsiderate to an important group of the population that feel disregarded by this approach. Moreover, some of these entitled pet owners may become defensive and even aggressive if they notice that some individuals may feel uncomfortable around their pets. Also, we don't know the medical history of these dogs. They may be cute, but it is necessary to acknowledge that not every pet owner is a responsible owner. This means that many owners are not keeping their pets/dog up-to-date on their shots. And above all, these pets shouldn't be riding inside shopping carts. This how you get unwanted pet hair on new clothes, cosmetics, etc. It is also paramount to note that these untrained dogs are not service dogs. Service dogs are trained to assist their owners. And of course part of their job is to provide assistance in every setting such as a store (they don't work inside shopping carts). Since some animals/dogs/pets are not trained, their behavior may be unpredictable around unfamiliar spaces. And this may pose a danger for the pet itself, the owner and other customers. As welcoming as the community may be, retails stores shouldn't be regarded as a temporary dog daycare for the lazy pet owner. And it shouldn't be expected either. Customers are not walking into a pet owner's home, but into a business establishment. And as a basic etiquette and consideration, Nordstrom management must acknowledge that not everybody wants to walk around pets inside the store. There are already plenty of spaces and venues provided for pets in our area. However, as far as I know, Nordstrom Rack is not a dog daycare, a pet store, or a dog park. So I don't see a reason for a random pet roaming inside the store (brought in by entitled pet owners). Interestingly, many of my family members and friends, who are responsible pet owners, do believe that dogs don't belong in business establishments that are not intended for them. If the management really wants to be welcoming towards customers with and without pets, then provide a dedicated enclosure for untrained dogs with certified pet sitters and the appropriate sanitary measures, while their owners shop inside. This could be a middle ground for all the parties involved. read more

I like this Rack. People here are friendly and the staff know what they are doing. More like 3.5 stars. The shoe section is seriously dangerous. Tons and tons and tons of shoes. I am bummed about their clothing assortment but it's better than the Tyson's assortment that's for sure. I'm starting to think the allocation reps for the east coast are a different pedigree than their west coast counterparts. I really think this is one of the better, if not the best, Nordstrom Racks in the area. Some of the clothing pieces might not be in their appropriate racks, but if you have the time to sift through, you'll be able to score some crazy good deals. This time around, I found a Rag & Bone sweater in the clearance section in the back for literally penniessss - woot woot! Check-out was a breeze, even though there was a long line. I had Janice P., and she was such a sweetheart! If you have some time to kill and want to do some hunting, check this place out if you're in the area :D Plus, you can also shop online - that's right! This Nordstrom Rack is amazing! I ended up going there three days in a row right after grand opening, and stayed until after closing each day (just by chance). I'm sure it's because of the grand opening, but the store was very well staffed. In fact, after closing, it still looked like a lot of people were shopping because of the number of people still left in the store. This store is very well organized and the employees are friendly and helpful. If you unfold something to look at it, it will get folded right back up within 10 minutes. I went with someone who bought a suit one day (after closing) and the suit was tailored and ready to be picked up the next afternoon. read more

I am surprised that I haven't reviewed this place by now. I have been to this location many times and it is either hit or miss for me. I do love the selection of shoes! They even have reasonable prices on designer shoes like Cole Haan. The purses and handbags I believe are lacking and maybe I should go online to check out more. The clothes selection has a decent collection for men and women. The parking lot is shared with other business to include Barnes and Noble and Old Navy. I went last night. The one at Potomac Mills is a disaster so I wasn't sure what to expect here at Fair Lakes. The difference is NIGHT AND DAY! This store is organized and clean--even at the end of the day! It's easy to go through all the racks. I got two sweaters and a top--less than $100. I wasn't shopping in the clearance racks but there are cheaper deals. They have a great selection of shoes. I was looking at Uggs when I was there. They don't have the popular classic styles, but the label is still $60 cheaper than full retail. Not too many bags but the ones I saw were pretty nice. They had Steve Madden items--this was the one surprise because there wasn't much of a discount. The one bag I considered getting was still $69 which is way too much for Steve Madden at a discount store. Good for Calvin Klein fans. They had an amazing selection of dresses. I'll definitely be back next time I need a dress. Last night they also had tons of tights, watches (even saw a Dolce watch!), sunglasses (tons of Coach), a couple leggings, tons of scarves, and tons of Neutrogena beauty items. A couple tweed blazers. Tons of career items--suit sets, etc. I don't own any Maggy London but the label was all over the store. The guy at the register around closing time was very friendly. There is not much difference in this store from any other one you find across the country. Pretty standard mid- low end brands that were specifically made for Nordstrom Rack. Occasionally you will find a few name brand items that truly from actually Nordstrom stores. There are only couple stores like Woodbridge store or Canoga Park store in LA have truly high end bargain finds. Fantastic location, great varieties, clean, organized and easy to navigate!!! What else can you ask for, ladies and gents? They have a very nice selection : Kate Spade, MK, Marc by Marc Jacob, Alex and Ani, Frenchi, etc.. I found the same dress that I just saw at Nordstrom in Fair Oaks Mall less than 1 week for half the price and a beautiful Frenchi dress on clearance for $10. As with any "NEW" grand opening, the place was organized neatly, the employees are very energetic, and is willing to help out with enthusiasm. Decent selection of clothing and shoes. Of course, there is more stuff for women than men... I ended up getting a Lacoste belt and sunglasses and Hugo Boss (white) shoes. I will be back to pick up some dress shirts. I used to go to Nordstrom Rack in LA because of my wife, but I've become a fan. "Hella" better than Marshall, TJ Maxx, or similar type of stores. Nordstroms rack is liike a TJ Maxx or Marshalls but the brands are better and I think they have a better selection. I love coming here because you're basically buying a $300 shirt for $50 bucks. What a bargain! I enjoy going to Nordstroms but I like seeing that same shirt I wanted at Nordstroms for half the price at Nordstroms rack. This store is much cleaner than Potomac Mills (disaster) and the Dulles store. I can actually move around in the store and not bumping into racks and clothes on the floor. They have a great selection for shoes, even better when they have sales for extra discounts. This also goes for the clothing, when they are in the clearance section, you can find tons of bargins with $5-$10 shirts and some seven7 jeans for $40 from $100. I will have to say, it's either hit or miss. Sometimes you get lucky and find alot of bargins or you leave with nothing (which always sadden me) but this is a great place to shop if you like high end products for low prices. read more

My fiend and I found a cute Jimmy Choo aviator sunglasses for a great price but not in silver frame. We were both looking for silver frame but it was copper frame. This isn't the biggest of best Nordstrom Rack but I am a huge fan. I found a pair of Sorel's for $75. These are the snow winter boots that are normally cost $140. These dark blue boots will keep my toes warm this coming season and have the fun fluff at the top. Practical and fashionable for half price? My kind of place. Then I had to come back because unlike buyers remorse, I often get sad when I pass up a good deal. My checking account really likes this style of shopping though because I only buy what I really love. I found some brown boots with a wedge heel and the covering down to the heel. Half off again! If you don't need the up-to-minute fashion trends then buy a season or two behind and you get the deals of the steals. read more

Is it weird to have a favorite Nordstrom rack? Well this is my favorite and I've been to quite a few in different states. I love deals when it comes to fashion. Fashion is constantly changing so why pay high prices for something that will only be trending for one season. This rack always has a good mix of trendy and classic styles. Alterations really screwed up my new with tags Tory Burch trench coat. It pains me to have to write this review as I have never had a horrible experience with Nordstrom rack or mainline Nordstrom tailoring services, until now! Good news-Nordstrom rack manager refunded me the cost of alterations, which was $71. Bad news-took trench to my trusted tailor (whom I should have used to begin but I got lazy), and my tailor did have to charge me a large sum to fix someone else's mistake... and quite frankly the trench coat may never look as awesome as it should. The trench has exposed double stitching as part of its unique design and I had asked Nordstrom rack to shorten the sleeves and the overall, length of the trench. I am not sure what happened but the stitching ended up crooked and the lining was unevenly stitched (who shortens a coat but decides not to shorten the lining). Above all, the left and right sleeves weren't even the same length! Seriously, it looks like the Nordstrom Rack tailor had a really really bad or off day...showing the work of a novice. Well, I took a risk and now my $$Tory Burch trench is screwed up and needs to be fixed elsewhere. I have wasted my time and efforts and probably the cost of the Tory Burch coat! read more

So, I purchased a $200 pair of dress shoes online that arrived by mail yesterday. Tried them on and they clearly did not fit. I LOVE the shoes so I went online and secured the last remaining pair in my shoe size. That same day, I went to the Nordstroms Rack location in Fair Lakes to make my return. Unfortunately, the "system" was down and they could only process returns purchased in house. Things happen, I get it - so I turn around and leave. After work today, I arrive at the Fair Lakes location attempting my return for a second time. I approach the register where employee #1 takes my shoes from out the box and proceeds to tell me that the shoes were "used"??? I was completely baffled, and admittedly, feeling the lingering effects of a long work week, I could begin to feel myself becoming unglued... But, I digress. Employee #1 turns to employee #2 at the register to get confirmation...now they're both in agreement - "the shoes are used." Employee #1 now needs to call the "Shoe Manager" per "SOP" to process the credit otherwise "she would get in trouble." In fairness, Employee #1 was more sympathetic to my cause then against me in her appeal - the manager takes a quick glance and processes the return back to my card (phew). The fact that these were brand-new, never-before, worn-shoes from out the box -- which could potentially cost me $200 -- was purely an injustice I was unprepared to suffer from. I was envisioning returning these shoes onsite, and afterwards browsing for an expensive suit in house. Instead, I left...probably never to return again, with a feeling that I could have lost out on hard-earned money attempting a business transaction with this company. I would take into careful consideration the scrutiny of their return policy before making a substantial purchase. read more

I rate the Farifax location only three stars because it is not quite the same quality of merchandise or curating of selection as is available at the Nordstrom Rack in Sterling or off Route 7 in Tysons Corner. I just came here 5 minutes 'til close and the manager clearly sees me walking up and decides to lock the doors. As she lets someone out I ask if I can do a return and she simply says "we're closed" and I said "you have 5 minutes 'til close" and she said "we just announced last call.." IIM SORRY BUT AREN'T YOU A BUSINESS? If you're are going to advertise that you're open from 10am to 9pm shouldn't you keep your doors open for that long? Within those 5 minutes anyone could've came in and made a sale for your store. But clearly the closing manager could careless about how her sales do at her store and decides to close the doors early. I don't need an excuse or a reason as to why you decided to close the doors early. Just because you announced that you were closing doesn't mean you should lock the doors early before closing time. You have a business. I know how businesses are run for my families own their own. Time is money. I don't hate this store but I'm giving it a one star for my experience I had just now. Clearly that manager needs to be retrained or something. You don't close a business early, period. Isn't this why YELP is here? You give a good review when you have an excellent experience and you give a bad review with a one star when you have a bad experience, as I did tonight. read more

What a day...three hours in this store AND I get to have the FTR! It wasn't as crazy as I expected it to be on opening weekend, and everything ran pretty smoothly. This store doesn't have a shoe counter where you go to find the mate, and the entire back section of the store is shoes! I hit up every department including intimates, accessories, juniors, contemporary, career, coats and mens (ok I avoided the kids section because I don't think they give a hoot about getting deals on designer brands). It was definitely smart to put all the makeup near the checkout line too. Everywhere I turned it seemed like people were enjoying their jobs or trying to help you. Everything was organized really well, according to designer or price range. Those shopping carts really come in handy, and they have the medium size carts that are easier to maneuver. The waiting room line went by pretty quickly, and you have a maximum of 15 items! I also appreciated that to get the line moving, the fitting room employee asked the women if they cared to go into the men's room (which of course did not have a wait). I have no problem with this and hope the men don't either! I haven't had such a successful shopping trip in months. I was a bit sad to see so many coats and fall sweaters, but it's true, summer is coming to a close. I can't wait to see what the one in Pentagon City has. And ladies, don't bring your hubby if he's not patient. You are a going to have a field day here, and if he is patient, there are seats for him near the dressing room! read more

This is by far my favorite Rack in the area! I've been to almost all of them and this one always seems to always stand out. Selection is comparable to Potomac Mills with the abundance of higher end brands, but it is less over picked. On my recent trip this past weekend, I must of come right as they were done marking down their inventory because I hit the jackpot. I came out with seven pairs of shoes for under $60! That's right, not a typo! They must have been trying to get rid of their higher end shoes that weren't selling because I noticed that those were the ones on super sale. I was able to walk out with a pair of Vera Wang Lavender suede leather boots, Rachel Zoe sandals, Alice + Olivia pumps, and Ron White satin heels for $10 each and Vince Camuto heels, Boutique 9 wedges, and Steve Madden boots for $5!!!! The cashier was even surprised at the good deals. My receipt said I saved around $2200 compared to retail prices. That's enough to keep me coming back to this location! read more
