What a disaster of the most horrible customer service EVER. Ian the owner treated me like a bad used car salesman. Never has anybody talk to me so low. His aggressive tone of voice made my blood boil. I booked an appointment with Kevin his service advisor for a 11am drop off on 2/7/23 which He was Very professional. As I came in for the appointment Ian the owner told me he doesn't work today and told me they dont make appointments after 9am. Whose fault is that???? Rather than accommodating me for MY APPOINTMENT, he made me feel Like I was the dumb-ass. I would rather have my car burn down than take my car to this location. A real breath of fresh air in automotive repair. My wife found these guys by Google, the reviews were good, and we took a chance. We were in a situation where they could have really taken advantage of us, but all they were was helpful. They checked everything out, took multiple calls from us, and charged us only for a half hour of time. Even came to pick me up when I had no other ride. (They were very busy too, and did not need our miniscule business.) Nice people too. They know cars, they know the area they are in, and they are very helpful and polite. Pretty hard to beat. I want to write this review because I was very amazed how great this shop is! I was looking into buying a 300zx in Pacific beach and being from Orange County needed to find a local mechanic in San Diego who could diagnose it for me. I called Ian a day before and made an appointment. Once I brought the car in he spent over an 1 hour looking at it. Very professional and he informed me the current condition it was in and what repairs I needed. He printed me a receipt and I was able to use that to negotiate a better deal. I even called him afterwards about a question I had. I only wish he was close to me so I could have his shop do maintenance and repairs. Great place and I fully recommend. read more

Owner of BMW and had to leave my other auto guys (after 10 years) because they charged me for stuff covered under California enforced warranty and the owner instead of just paying me back actually argued with me about it, then when he realized it was their error he still refused to reimburse me because "he shouldn't take a loss", his words. I won't say who because the staff was always so amazing. The guys here actually have all the warranties on file and never push to do anything on the car that is not required. I have been going to Coastal Auto Repair over the past year for my 2012 Jeep. They are consistently professional, fair, courteous, and HONEST. My "Check Engine" light was on and I was very worried because of my budget, and they determined that it was the gas cap that had worn out and caused a poor seal. They ordered a replacement cap on the spot and had it installed within 2 hours and they only charged me a total os $17.00 for the gas cap. Any other Auto Repair would have taken advantage of me as a female and diagnosed my vehicle a hundred different ways. It's been a few weeks since they replaced my gas cap and the Check Engine light has remained OFF. read more

On vacation from New Mexico in our Town & Country, check engine comes on with shuddering. Van is covered by MaxCare. Closest CarMax is 20 miles away, no way it'll make it. Where the hell to go in a city I have no idea about? Use RepairPal to see authorized partners through MaxCare, CAR is the first one to come up. Make the call, ask if they can get me in, and Ian of course says yes, even though they're slammed. Get to shop at 1, out of there at 430. Misfire in cylinder 3, and of course the intake is wrapped over the engine because modern cars are stupid. So, 3.5 hours to diagnose, get the parts, take off the intake, get at the engine, repair, and put it back together...while they're slammed. If you go anywhere else in the Pacific Beach area for auto repair, you're a damn fool. Ian and his crew are top notch, fair, friendly, quick, professional, and every other awesome adjective you can think of. CAR saved my vacation and my pocketbook.
