I usually hate getting my car serviced, but this experience completely changed my mind -- I'll only come here from now on. I walked in at 8:30 AM on a Friday and was greeted by Danny. They don't really have parking area so you just park in an alley and have them figure out what to do with it after you drop it off. I went to take my car because it had engine light on and they suggested to get a new battery. Easy enough job. I thought the cost I paid for was pretty decent and it came with 5 year warranty. The cost I saw for a new battery online vs what I paid here was about the same. Maybe little lower. Also if you pay in cash, they give you discounts. Easy, efficient service. read more

I went to this shop for brake service. The quote was high but I was short on time so I went for it. I also got a laundry list of suspension items that needed to be addressed for $2700. I got a weird vibe from them so I went to 2 different shops that were rated higher on yelp and both shops said I didn't need any of those things repaired. They also mentioned how poorly done the brakes were and that I paid too much. Lots of positive reviews here so maybe it was a one-off poor experience but it doesn't hurt to shop around before spending your money here. read more

It's super refreshing for staff to be so nice & not degrading when speaking to me about my car when I'm a woman. Have been going back for tire alignments and small issues, and will continue to do so. Will be coming back Went in for an oil change and they quoted me $81 and it only ended up being $71! AND when I took my car in, one of the headlights was out and I think they fixed it for me??? It wasn't on the receipt but when I picked it up, it was fixed. So either they fixed my car for free or they have a magic touch- either way amazing. Super nice guys too. As a woman, I've had mechanics be pretty condescending to me, but this place made me feel comfortable and respected. This will be my go-to oil change and my partner's new place too. Had my 1998 vintage Land Rover Discovery towed to shop because my brakes went out. I had new tires put on the car here before. Great service. This time I needed a master cylinder for my brakes. I made a huge mistake thinking they were competent in working on my Land Rover. After needing 3 parts to fix brakes, I now need to take it my mechanic to oversee this brake job. The mechanic who worked on my car, broke the shift knob which is over 100,00 to replace. the vinyl cover on the brake gear was missing, loose screws from somewhere on the back seat. They didn't treat my car with care, Bob seemed unphased by missing parts or broken gear shift knob. He tried to blame it on the tow truck Co. I will not be going back or recommend them for service. If you have an old import or care about your car stay away. No apology given by Bob or owning the mistakes. I just wanted to say the reason I'm leaving this 5-star review is not designed or written for the original automotive cashier who I was first placed with upon arrival to Advantec Auto Repair (Danny) who originally told me what I wanted to hear not the truth or facts. His qualifications were losing his cool far beyond what a person would expect from an automotive shop that's not only based of the quality of work but also the customer satisfaction. He was well aware of all the factors involved when I brought my car in whether he cares to admit to it or not. I came in with my 3 year old son in the blazing heat granted I told him i needed an ac compressor when it was actually an ac condenser that was actually part in any case I was still willing to pay for both. I brought my car in on a Friday morning which was given back to me Friday afternoon with a new compressor installed however Danny relayed to me it was not the compressor it was the condenser I needed basically acting as though I was an idiot for not knowing this information but said not to worry take the car home with you for the weekend the condenser will be in Monday afternoon no later than Tuesday but you will be charged for both which I had not problem with since my information was inaccurate that was only right I payed for my mistake. However, this story which starts with me getting a lesson in knowledge ultimately turning into someone who's not just a cashier attending the front of the automotive shop he also supposed to have customer service experience. That's where this story takes a major u-turn. Not only do I get misled knowing I have a 3 year old son and the fact that he can be in heat. I'm not getting any updates from this guy about the part he said would be in Monday latest Tuesday and once they do get in the part he's going to get the job done and one it's done I can take my business elsewhere. There was absolutely no point in wasting my time and energy trying to have an intelligent conversation with a unpolished, obtuse human who has no idea how to implement communication skills or customer care when needed no that would take someone that actually knows the business firsthand enter Owner Bob Creager. Once I was directed to work with the owner Bob it took about 3 minutes tops to get a phone call back telling me not to worry and covering for his employee which is basically all he could do at that point. The part will be in this afternoon bring your car in and will have it back to you at 12-1pm the next day. No doubts, no runaround, just a few words from a wise man who knows the business and understands customer care. Which Bob Creager does inside and out. Moral of the story you could have an absolutely great customer experience, work ethic and a smile on your face when you leave Advantec automotive & transmission shop but the only way your going to get that upon arrival is by asking for the name of the automotive parts cashiers name upon arrival and if you in front of Danny save yourself the trouble, time, headache and all around bad energy. Say im sorry your names Danny thanks but no thanks im looking for the owner Bob Creager can you put me in touch with him. It won't only help your experience it will help you save years on your life if you have high blood pressure, you want the truth. Not what I refer to as a TW (time waster) so please don't make the mistake of being helped by a rude, obnoxious, and negative auto cashier named Danny.. All you need to say is may I speak to Bob it's that easy will turn and unhealthy, negative experience into the experience that they you to implement in the 70's before crack hit the streets. I want you to be able to walk away from this auto shop with a smile. On these hot summer days especially is you have the young ones in tow. Take a moment and ask yourself do I want indigestion, a migraine headache and or perhaps rumatord arthritis or do I want my car fixed quickly and efficiently by the real deal. Update: still an amazing place, me and my mom never feel like we are ever going to get ripped off. Had my moms older 2007 car not work and we got it towed. The tow person said it's the alternator and the battery. BUT! He could give us a deal for both for $600 right now. (Which tbh the alternator did cross our minds as the issue) He seemed a bit pushy and we wanted to double check by advantec regardless. Once we brought it in they reassured us that it was just the battery and nothing else. We needed an oil change and a new filter, but no alternator. We walked out paying $190 ish for the battery And came back a few days later for the filter (which was comped...thank you!) And will be back very soon for the oil change but we're in no rush since we don't drive that car often. Car works great! And we didn't have to pay $600+ read more

I love this place! They have helped me many times when I've been in a pickle. Bob and Keith are great! Every single time that I have interacted with either of them, they always take the time to listen and are genuine in their interactions with their customers. I first came here two years ago on a busy weekend. This is when I met Keith and he was very accommodating with a last minute needed oil change. He even put an air filter in for me that I purchased. I've also taken my car in for flat tires and any other electrical issues that I've had. They have always been super responsive and addressed the issues. I went to turn on my car, and there was a major problem. I have a very high mileage car, so I was nervous as where to take it. I was recommended by a friend to call Advantec, and boy I'm glad I did! I called first thing Monday when they opened and they were able to get me in ASAP. They said they would check the car for free and call to give me an estimate. They called, with the issue, fuel injector and needed a fuel system cleaning, and gave me a very reasonable quote. I also asked them to fix my breaks. My service light lit up on a Saturday, and I had to drive to Los Angeles early the following week. I arrived Monday at 8 am without an appointment, and was very grateful and relieved that they could take care of my car. It was extremely convenient that they have a waiting area, and they let me use their wifi (I had LOTS of homework). The one glitch is that after a couple of hours I needed to use the restroom (I was there from 8am- 12 pm-ish). I was told they don't have a "public restroom," and pointed me to a coffee shop at the corner. On my way to the coffee shop it occurred to me: "wait...I'm a paying customer (almost $800). I'm not a member of the public walking in from the street asking to use the restroom." I was almost at the coffee shop, however, and kept walking. I explained the situation to those guys, and they were AMAZING! They never asked me to buy anything before letting me use the restroom. On my way out I bought a pastry, as a thank you. I strongly urge the guys at the car shop to reconsider their restroom policy for paying customers. Otherwise, I suggest to anyone who plans to wait for their car to go to TWIGGS BAKERY AND COFFEEHOUSE and have breakfast or lunch there. read more

Well I had some major work done on my car at a shop in Vista before bringing it here. I had the shop in vista put in a brand new transmission and clutch ($3000.00 bill). The car was driving the best it had driven in years but then I had a sensor go bad. Not a major issue so I took it to the closest shop with a good rating, that shop is Advantec Auto Repair. When I received my car back from Advantec, within a day I had 4 lights go off on my dash telling my my engine was messed up. So I took it back to the shop and they held the car for 2 MONTHS! They gave me the car back after without making me pay because they knew they messed up my car. Now the car literally can not be driven and I'm having to sell the thing for parts. Long story short, I would just avoid this auto shop. From the time they took to work on the car to the service they provided. Everything was all bad.
