I was horrified when Sara began badmouthing the facility when we made a boarding reservation for Thanksgiving, and suggesting that we could pay her less for taking my dog to her house for the holiday weekend. 6/30/23 my 5 month old puppy suffered a heat stroke while in the doggy daycare. She required a few days hospitalization and was critically ill. Not one person reached out to me to inquire about her condition. I have been emailing and calling. I have spoken to the day manager and have asked several times to talk to the owner and gotten no response. I am struggling to understand why a simple phone call is being avoided. How can you advertise that you are all about the care of animals and when an incident takes place at your facility you hide. It is truly unacceptable behavior. read more

We had been bringing our dog there for five years. Since she was a puppy, and she previously always had great care. Recently, I know they've changed hands and bought out by a corporate company. We brought our fur baby there for one night and when we came to pick her up, we were shocked. They said she didn't have a very good time there and one lady came out with gloves all the way up to her elbows saying that our dog had been attacking them. Our toy poodle has never done that. That is NOT our dog. they couldn't pick her up they couldn't get her out of her crate which tells me they didn't take any time to get to know Lilly. They said we couldn't bring her back again. I was completely shocked. We previously always had great comments and many loved her and she got lots of love there. our dog was wet from being outside she pooped herself when running out to see us with no leash on and shaking when we picked her up. Thank goodness there were no other dogs in the waiting area because all dogs should be leashed not knowing if bigger dogs would be aggressive with someone jumping out them.I asked if they ever took care of Lilly. They said no and clearly didn't make us feel as though they cared much. I didn't recognize any of the faces that were there Our dog was clearly afraid and had to have been frightened in order to bite. They said she was curled up in a corner. Instead of trying to make her feel comfortable to come out. They clearly just grabbed her which is only way I can think this happened. We were very upset and have no idea what happened to our dog while she was there and will never bring her back. Very sad as we previously had nothing but good to say about coastal canine. I have been using Coastal Canine since their opening and have not been disappointed. I am greeted with smiles, the staff is accommodating, with a "we will make it work" attitude and transparency. I have watched my dog grow leaps and bounds in the time they have been at Coastal Canine. Example, I have been trying to teach one of my dogs how to play with a ball to no avail. Now he not only knows how to play with one but also understands commands that go along with it. Witnessing his progression from a shy dog with no interest or understanding, to him just run around with a ball in his mouth, then to have him drop it on command, and now he is bringing the ball back to me. What I like the most about Coastal is how they operate. I toured the facility before bringing my dogs in. They explained their philosophy with me - the intent to make the dogs (customers) happy and safe could not have come through more clearly. When I was shown how playgroups are organized and managed, I was sold. Dogs are placed in small groups, not so much by size but by temperament and compatibility. And they rotate play time, so dogs aren't running around for 10 hours straight. I love that my dogs have a safe place of their own to retreat to, grab some water and take a breath. (Which sounds like how my dogs operate at home. They run around and play, tire out, grab water, nap for a bit and then they are at it again.) For me, the thought of letting 25+ dogs run free is a set up for disaster. I know my small dog is not keen on puppies or large dogs. I can't imagine letting her lose in a yard with dogs she is fearful of. My dogs come home happy, not exhausted and dead to the world. Again, to me, this is a sign of a successful day. As Coastal Canine grew, I asked for another tour to see the changes and how they operate. Again the staff was more than accommodating, very proud to show me how my dogs spend their days. One last note: I wanted to see how my dogs do when they are separate, so I dropped just one for a day of play, telling the front desk why. Picking him up I was given a note from the staff that had been with him, detailing my dog's day, his behavior and thoughts on my "experiment." Utterly unexpected and extremely grateful. read more

Dog owners using or looking for boarding facilities....beware of coastal canine resort in North Hampton. When I came back from being away for a few days and picked up my Savannah, all seemed ok. When I got home: 1. I noticed she was limping and when taking her things out of the bag i gave them, None of her medications had been given to her during her 4 day stay for allergies and pain management from 3 acl surgeries and a current meniscus tear (not to minimize that but she and they are lucky it wasn't meds for something more serious like seizures or heart issues) so she was itchy and in pain the whole time i was away. I had communicated all of her needs through their online portal with direct medication instructions on the bottles and also emailed. They had previous notes about her challenging temperament as well. 2. She for some reason had expressed her anal glands at some point there as she does when she is stressed which has never happened during boarding before. 3. She had diarrhea for the following 24 hours after she was home. 4. When I called to complain and find out how this happened i also learned they had to hand feed her a few times because she wasn't eating which wasn't communicated to me while i was away nor when i picked her up. Was she sick the whole time and they just let her deal with it on her own? 5. She is anxious and a fearful aggressive dog with strangers that doesn't tolerate being approached head on by hands even by myself and despite all the advisories on her account that are supposedly printed for their staff to see, they initiated a grooming service without asking me and I don't know how they thought that would be a good idea. 6. I also learned they weren't sure if she had had any diarrhea while she was there, that they think they saw some limping but not anything major and then the truth surfaced, that they really didn't pay attention, neglected her needs and communicated nothing between their staff or to myself. They said there isn't anyone in the lobby on the weekends and they are very busy and the staff in the back are different on saturdays and sundays so they don't know what happens one day to the next. Now I have no idea what has and has not been communicated within the facility about being sensitive to her health and temperament challenges and how much distress she was in while i trusted them to care for her completely. Their system obviously isn't effective in caring for the dogs they take in, they are taking too many dogs in or are understaffed and their communication within and to owners is completely unacceptable. They should know how they are doing and be able to care for them or reach out if something might be wrong. Infuriated. I would give a 0 if I could. I worry about other pets that are being neglected for any reason and communication not happening and you never know because they can't tell you. read more

First time Three stars because my dog looks good. Not five stars because the front desk rushed me through the check-in process and was taking him away before I could fully explain what I wanted done. They seemed annoyed and lacked social skills. He looks good, but not even close to his usual. Update: Lowered to 1 star. Dog just diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection. I would NOT RECOMMEND this place for Grooming. I dropped off my Goldendoodle and they shaved him to the SKIN...literally. I had other groomers demat and shave, leaving .25 inch of fur. In some spots you can see his actual Skin. I think its the easy way out of dealing with mats and other grooming techniques can ge used to allow for fur. On top off that, they left a PUFF on his tail...LOL..absolutely ridiculous. read more

This place is terrible! I left my two small dogs with them for 6 nights just a few days ago as a last resort (my usual boarding place was booked) and I was appalled. Not only did they charge me insane prices which doubled the contracted amount (which I also tipped on prior to seeing my dogs) but they came back looking like they went to war! All disheveled and stressed but the absolute kicker was the fact that one of them was covered in literal (excuse my language) SH*T !! Supposedly the girl had a rough time "wrangling" them upstairs to leave and he sat in his own poo?! Her quote was "I tried to clean him up the best I could but there's a bit of staining" Staining ?! Really?! it was some fresh, some dried/caked and was most certainly on him wayyyyy longer than a few minutes...let's try a few days! Disgusting! I wanted to rage, but the place was such a zoo with daycare drop offs and the fact I had my son with me. I had to bite my tongue and storm out with my crap riddled pups. In addition their dog bed also had feces on it, which was a treat. In conclusion,both of my dogs had to be extensively groomed (again) as "supposedly" they provided free grooming with their extended stay. BS! DO NOT LEAVE YOUR PRECIOUS FUR BABIES WITH THEM you will regret it. *1star just to be able to post this ‍ my only positive was the front desk person was nice. read more

Boarding dogs usually happens when you are traveling, by way of that getting back is at times unpredictable with delays and traffic. 10 minutes late to the 11 to 11:30 AM pick up time; Walked around back absolutely no one was there. Tried calling five times no one picked up... I couldn't get in touch with someone until 2:11 PM. In my mind it's poorly run you should be able to get a hold of a human being to speak to during the day it seems like a reasonable expectation of a business with the existence of cell phone technology. Pretty sure if you claim to be leading class you at least have this minimum capability. I highly do not recommend. read more

Booked the place online to board our dog for one night. When we got there we weren't given a tour or shown any part of the facility besides the front room which was a little strange. They asked us if we wanted her to play with other dogs so we said yes. Then when we picked her up we were told that 'playing with other dogs' costs another $20 because that's socialized daycare from their cost sheet. So it feels like they tricked us into paying the additional fee by wording it like they did. Place seemed very clean and nice though. Just felt a little tricked into paying more money. read more

I've been bringing my super energetic labrador puppy to Coastal for several months now, and I have found the staff to be extremely patient, friendly and helpful. My pup loves these people and stands at the door in the morning waiting to head out to Coastal. We've also had him groomed there, and his nails and coat looked great. read more

Like others have said, the customer service is severely lacking. We felt rushed out when we dropped them off (it was our first time there so a tour or something would have been nice.) The real issue started when when picked up our 2 dogs. When we went to go pay, the total was almost triple what we thought it would have been. I asked about it, and they said my dogs went to day care each day which is why it was so much. We never signed up or agreed to daycare, what they did was completely trick us. They asked "do your dogs want to socialize" when we dropped them off. We said yes, thinking that meant are they friendly, can they hang out with other dogs when they go outside etc. To them, they took that as agreeing to a very expensive day care session everyday. No prices were discussed and no mention of that meaning day care. From reading other reviews it looks like they've tried this trick on a few others. Won't be returning. read more

This new to the neighborhood dog boarding and daycare services complete with grooming on site, go above and beyond with their personal attention and treat my dog like he is their own. One time when my bus got stuck in traffic making me late to pick my dog up, they made arrangements to meet me with my dog so he wouldn't spend an extra night boarding. I couldn't be happier to have this service in my town. They are the very best. Excellent and spacious always sparking clean facilities. read more

I'm giving two stars because customer service is everything. We have brought our dog here for a couple of stays. Each time she seems happy and is always tired when we leave! But unfortunately, the experience with the staff there is always unpleasant. At first I thought it was just me and they were annoyed with all the dog mom questions when leaving your fur child for the first time at a boarding facility, so we went back. After experiencing the same rudeness from the staff the second time, and reading more reviews, this seems like a normal thing. I had that dreadful feeling all day when I had to drop off Layla and Ruby to be boarded for the week. We haven't needed to board them very often but now that we're empty nesters, we're visiting our kids and no one is home to care for our furry kids! I have to say, from speaking with staff beforehand I was more at ease than usual and after check-in, I was actually relieved and grateful knowing I was leaving them in the care of Lisa's compassionate staff! Ruby has typically shaken uncontrollably when I've had to board them in the past and she was fine when we walked into the "Resort"! The facility is clean and neat and very organized-forms available on line and website is very informative. They were well cared for, taken on nature walks, and had one on one (or two on one) play times. When we picked them up, they were happy AND "stunning" (haha) because there's also an incredible groomer! I will definitely use CCR for boarding again and will certainly be dropping "the girls" off for a spa day on occasion! Thank you Lisa and CCR staff for taking such great care of our babies! p.s. Very Disappointed. I brought my dog for first day of daycare. She was only there 3 hours and she was so hot and thirsty when she got home she ran to her water dish and just kept drinking and drinking and drinking ... I was even more disturbed when I saw the pictures posted online showed the dogs had virtually NO water in the pools .... I have no idea why you would put an inch of water in a pool for multiple dogs on a very hot day. That's simply not safe in my view ... Disappointed as they had been recommended. I was also told there was staff in each pen and that was not the case. read more

Our dogs Dexter (9 year Shih tzu) and Milo (2 year Standard Poodle) Board, play and are groomed at Coastal Canine Resort. The resort is great, it is so nice to have a one business that provides three services for my dogs. I really like that Dex and Milo are able to board in the same kennel the entire time they are at the resort. Play time works great for my dogs, they enjoy the other dogs and then are relaxed and tired for a good nights sleep. Being able to have our dogs groomed at the resort is very nice. Much less anxiety because they know they play here and have a great time. Thank you Lisa and your staff for providing a wonderful environment for our doggies! read more

Our dog started going here for almost a year. He loved it. We enjoyed all the pictures they would post on fb and he was having a ton of fun. Then a few months ago we noticed no more pics of him.. Around Thanksgiving there were pics of him playing by himself with one of the employees. So we thought maybe he had done something bad. So we asked if something happened. Nope, he's a good boy she says. Also mentioned there still weren't any pictures. Then we started seeing pics of him all alone in one of the gated areas watching all the other dogs play. And there wasn't just one pic of him in the background they're were several on diff days. Again, we asked if something was going on. Nope she says, he's a good boy. We soon noticed our dog coming home depressed. And couldn't understand why. Then in the beginning of dec our dog had his 6 month check up and had gained 10 pounds. We could not understand why. Again, we approached them. Nope nothing's wrong. He's a good boy. Every time I spoke to her I told her if something is going on then we need to see our trainer and fix the problem. Still no pictures of him playing just him in the background all by himself. At that point we decided to pull him out of coastal canine. He's now going to a new daycare and they cannot figure out why our dog was segregated. He's such a good boy. He's now super happy at his new daycare. And has lost 9 lbs in 3 weeks. We will never ever go back. We are also telling all our dog friends our experience. Especially new dog owners. And don't bring your dog here. Oh and they also cage the dogs every 20 min. And during lunch. Dogs don't need rest. They rest when they want. Absolutely disgusted with this place. Still don't understand. And seriously don't lie straight to my face. read more

Each time we have brought our dogs here for boarding (high value customers with 2 dogs, 4-6 night stays) we have been treated rudely by the front desk staff. We were also told there would be photos posted online / emailed to us over our dogs stay ... when we inquired they acted like we were idiots for thinking this would actually happen. Glad our dogs have been taken care of, but maybe you need to give the staff a refresher on proper customer service skills when people are paying hundreds of dollars to your boarding facility when they can easily go elsewhere. read more

Coastal Canine is the best. I went to drop my two dogs off for weekend boarding and discovered I forgot to make the reservation . My heart sank thinking I was out of luck, but Coastal Canine took care of everything and made me feel relaxed and ready to go on my weekend that was planned. They said no problem and everything is fine. My dogs stayed for the weekend and Coastal Canine could not of been more reassuring and awesome. Can't say enough that everyone was great!!!! read more
