I've been to this office to see Dr. Schultz is the past several times with no issues. However, recently the office staff will not answer the phone or return messages after multiple attempts over multiple weeks. Horrible customer service to never return multiple phone messages. I'm not going to waste my time with this office anymore. I've since found another office that is still local and willing to accept patients. read more

I have been coming to coastal dermatology for a few different treatments in the last year. First of all I have to say this place is in a league of their own in regards to the level of service, humility, treatments and services offered, and most importantly the staff. I have come here to do Hydro facial, which I highly recommend anybody looking to have a clean slate on their face. I also come in for some laser treatment problem areas that I had and the doctor and staff were very kind and gave me all the information I needed and ensured that I was comfortable the entire process to my surprise, it wasn't painful and I'm glad the doctor and nurse set the expectations of what to expect throughout the treatment. I waited few months to get an appointment to get some bad sun stain removed. Like most of people, I asked if they were in the network of my health insurance and they told me yes when I called to get the appointment. The name of the physician is Clayton Schiltz, he entered the room and started to talk and talk and finally told me I should come back to get the sun stains removed. I told this is what I was coming for and he finally froze (still have the scar of one months later) them but I clearly felt it wasn't in his agenda of that day. While he was leaving the room, he told his assistant to charge me $50 because this is cosmetic (first time I saw a dermatologist charging under cosmetic for sun stains removal) but that wasn't the worst part... They told they would take a sample of mole on my back, it took 2min to take the sample. Recently I received the bill of ~$1500 for lab analysis and I was surprised to see they are out-of-network. I don't even have the results... This is the worst Detmatologist I have ever visited. read more

My friend told me about Dr. Shiltz and raved on about his work. My first time visiting Dr. Clayton Shiltz was in the summer of 2015 and I had just turned 39. The office is quite easy to find and plenty of parking right next to his office. Still a little nervous I parked and walked in. It's a lovely place very friendly staff & although the Dr. was with another patient I was seen just on time for my appointment. I have had Botox before but it had been over 2 years since and mainly because my old office kept messing up on my appointments. We ended up doing Botox & for the first time and I tried Fillers as well. In the past I had some swelling from the Botox shots and slight redness but for some reason I didn't get it here and was very pleasantly surprised. The fillers, was my idea and Dr.Shiltz suggested i could benefit from it around my cheeks to enhance my cheekbones and slim my round face. It was a great call. Over all I found my experience to be excellent! He knows his stuff and explained it so I can understand enough to make the right choice for my face & the result is wonderful! I made an appointment to get warts removed & wanted more information on the redness on my arms & chest. I was a new patient & had been dealing with skin issues my whole life so I was actually looking forward to this appointment based on the reviews. My appt was at 1:10 & didn't get seen till abt 45 - 50 min later by the dr. When he came in he introduced himself didn't shake my hand nor did he apologize for being so late nor did the staff. I got a weird vibe when I walked in all the way up until I left. It was like I was rushed through my appointment even though I almost waited an hour. The dr didn't cover my skin issues regarding the redness even though I told the young gal who was taking notes (his assistant?). I heard her tell him behind the door but he didn't address it I had to ask him. Super awkward appointment & def not going back. read more

Got a chemical peel at Coastal Dermatology. Was mislead at every step. Chemical Peel didn't work and just left me with ugly dry skin that still hasn't peeled after 7 days. After calling them several times, I finally got a hold of them a day in a half later and they asked for me to come in and spend another $75 to retry the peel. They promised that it would work this time and I'd peel. Was also told after the fact that they were just testing out my skin, didn't have the strong peel I requested, and knew it might not work. At this point, I realized they weren't to be trusted, so I said no. Already wasted enough time and money and wasn't going to be conned into wasting more. Will stick to Refined Dermatalogy where I received several successful chemical peels from in the past. Worth it even if it's a drive. read more

i received care here in october of 2023 for drainage of an abscess. i was told at least three times by the doctor, the assistant, and the receptionist that my procedure was entirely covered by my insurance. i even had the assistant double check before going forward with the drainage. i left very happy with my care, as everyone in the office and the doctor himself were very kind and professional. months later in january, i receive a bill in the mail for 400 dollars. i was shocked because i was told so many times that my insurance would completely cover my care. after calling the billing representative, i was told that they never even attempted to bill my insurance and just sent the bill straight to me! i'm definitely disappointed because i truly loved the care i got here, and everyone was very kind and professional but i definitely won't be returning because that is extremely unprofessional to try to get money out of me when i was told my insurance would cover it. read more

Dr. Shultz and staff were pleasant and professional. However, the doctor prescribed a medication that cost $250 out of pocket without advising me of potential alternatives in the event my insurance didn't cover it. The $250 medication didn't do anything for the issue I came in for, by the way. grrr... super frustrating and could have been better handled by advising me of options and providing alternate prescriptions up front as its pretty common that topical medications aren't 'one size fits all.' I went in a few months later for a different issue. I had a small cyst that my PCP had already treated with antibiotics. The Dr. prodded at it for about 10-25 seconds, wiped it with a piece of gauze and let me know it was fine as is and didn't require further treatment. When I got the bill, IN ADDITION to the $135 office visit, I was charged $216 for "Drainage of abscess." When I realized this, I called and spoke to the receptionist (who was very nice.) She spoke to the office manager about it and they offered to split my out of pocket with me and still wanted me to pay $67.95 for the "procedure" on top of them collecting $80 from my insurance provider IN ADDITION to the $135 office visit fee. I let the receptionist know that while I greatly appreciated her efforts to help me that I considered this to be a gross over-charge and completely taking advantage of the insurance system. Came here to get some moles checked, and it was such a great experience! From the front, to the nurses who assisted, they were all friendly and professional. I appreciated that Dr. Schultz actually listened to my concerns, and educated me about a few skin conditions that I was unaware of. It's always nice when a doctor doesn't rush you out. I would recommend this office to anyone with moles, or pale skin that easily burns like mine for regular check ups. :) read more
