Went in to buy a pair of boots, and truly I lucked out. An employee named Jerry asked if I needed anything, and after a brief conversation proved to be an incredibly valuable resource. Jerry offered products, cited personal recommendations, and was an all round EXCEPTIONAL customer service employee/ manager. My visit to Coastal was truly made better with his input. Thanks Jerry! I will be seeing y'all again soon thanks to him! Oh and the check out girls were not super thrilled that I cited Jerry as an exceptional employee at check out. They actually mocked the fact that i said he was great- it was condescending and rude, and he's their team mate?! Super unprofessional. Disgusting. Dakota and Carolina??? They were both named after cities or states.... They sucked. And they did kind of throw a damper on the entire experience!!! Imagine how disrespected I felt after saying their coworker made my experience enjoyable, that he was helpful, and being personally mocked. Liars and cheats, I bought a ton of pellets on senior discount Tuesday and showed my military ID and got ZERO discount. Two employees said it was already discounted so no additional. She charged me 49 and 1 to get to 50 so I wouldn't get the discount. I did get a $25 gift card but to not get $36.90 cash off (10%) is BS. The same pellets are cheaper at Oregon farm and irrigation after the BS gift card. She screwed me over with such a straight face is what pisses me off the most. Liars and cheats may be strong but if you consider this to be a 100% BS transaction, what else are they/she doing? Check your receipts!!! Screw me once shame on you, Screw me twice shame on me. I absolutely love this place. Little did I expect as I went in there to get feed, was the incredible assortment of clothes, tools, and work boots. Very good energy and the staff very helpful. We purchased an expensive piece of equipment from another Coastal store. Brand new unit, but it had a serious defect. Our store did not have one in stock, to exchange, so they ordered one from Redmond. It took a awhile to arrive at our store, but whatever. Employees brought it out and I couldn't believe my eyes. This item was absolutely NOT new. It looked like it was recovered from the Titanic. Aluminum was oxidized and some exterior parts were simply worn out from use. This store is a chain. I went to the one in Redmond, Oregon. It is full of everything you need to run a small farm. They also have sporting supplies, durable clothes and shoes, and household cleaning supplies. There were five aluminum troughs with baby chicks and a large cage with two black lop-eared bunnies for sale. The bunnies were especially tame and friendly. The store was huge and the prices appeared reasonable. read more

The prices and selection here are good, but the customer service here is AWFUL. I have never felt so uncomfortable in a store. Employees avoid you as if they're afraid to help. I had to track someone down to open a fitting room for me, and when I asked, she acted as though it was a complete inconvenience for her to unlock the door for me. The girls do not offer help and I literally asked a question multiple times before I was acknowledged. They were too busy gossiping very rudely about another coworker to help. Situations like this have happened on multiple occasions. I will continue shopping here because of its better selection over local competitors, but every time I come here I feel unwelcome. read more

The old dude behind the gun counter I think his name is Doug. I believe he's suffering from dementia. This man's firearm handling skills are atrocious. CZ 75B in the case I told Doug write me up for that one I'll take it. He retrieved this hand gun out of the case and with his finger on the trigger points the muzzle directly at me. For the love of God. Please for the safety of all people involved will you retrain this individual for proper gun safety. If this man continues to point firearms people he's liable to get himself shot. With what coastal farms is going to pay an employee we should not expect any professionalism at the gun counter. It's just an idea if coastal farms would open up a gun counter position hey said person a livable professional wage maybe you would get a professional behind the counter. Why is everyone that works here such a jerk?? Worst customer service ever! You always have to track someone down for help, and they act like you are an inconvenience. No one ever, ever asks if you need help. The cashier's are the worst , borderline rude. You get a feeling that a lot of work place drama is going on, and everyone hates their job. I know it's a chain store, so are other locations the same? If everyone hates it there so much, why do they stay? The only people that are half way courteous and helpful are the outdoor guys that help you load up outside. Love the store, however I find myself wanting to spend my money at a smaller end feed store with the customer service this store lacks. When you look like you hate your job and life you probably shouldn't be the one at the checkout. Or even better when someone hasn't purchased an item like a scratch block for chickens and wasn't aware you had to get a tag on the wall of 700 other tags, instead of just pointing to the wall wall the customer over and show them the general area. So of course I wasn't aware of where the tag was. So I returned to the checkout asking for assistance. I received a look like I was an incredible inconvenience and dumb for not knowing. read more

So I regularly get my propane dog food work boots clothes fencing materials dog toys etc. from coastal because you always stock ranch quality at a great price and have employees that use and know about the products. I have stopped shopping at Coastal for one reason! Propane while almost always in stock every time I show up for the past 4-6 times no one is there that can pump it. That can't be a good way to sell propane? To top it all off the final time we called ahead mind you we have called ahead before and both times was told OH YA WE HAVE PROPANE! Show up and nobody to pump. However the final straw was when we showed up it was about 16 degrees out and wet and the employees in the yard just looked at us so my wife goes in to let them know we need propane clerk says "oh ya somebody will be right out" she comes back outside 5-10 min later yard employe walks by so I go in same thing "oh ya someone will be right out" 5 more min go by nothing so I send my wife back in about the same time that yard employee comes over says no one to pump is there. Wife comes out about same time with the correct answer finally that no one was there. So now everyone that sells propane but your store is closed and coastal can't pump all that propane while is super cold out and you sell the most. On top of not selling propane at peak time you are losing customers and getting a bad reputation in Redmond Oregon. FYI out house was 46 degrees that night because we couldn't get propane not you fault but we waited in the cold past when other stores closed to find out it was all a sham. read more

Their website had a liberty safe for sale. I went to look at it as I already have one and wanted another as I was running out of room for my shotguns. I saw the safe but it didn't have a sale tag. I asked about it and the worker told me that it was not on sale. I showed him what the website showed but he said it must be a different location, however I had the correct location marked on the website. Anyways, not the end of the world. I told him I'd come back another time. Then he showed me a safe that was on sale. It looked kinda cheesy to me, but he said it was a better safe than liberty makes and it was 50% off. I should have gone with my gut and passed, but he went on and on about how nice it was and what a great deal it was at $500. I asked him if it was really a $1000 safe when not on sale and he assured me it was. I decided to take his advice. When I got home I was unpacking and realized this wasn't near the quality of my other safe. I also googled "ridgeline" gun safes and found several places to buy them at their list price of just $500. So I really wasn't getting a good deal at all. I should know better than to trust so blindly but the guy seemed like he knew what he was talking about. Shame on me for trusting him. Really disappointed in the staff tonight, closed their shop early and although customers were still leaving, shut the door in our face and would not let us in to buy JUST dog food. If your posted hours are not the hours you abide by, change your hours. I noticed they also have no voicemail to voice this kind of issue. I updated this review from a 1 to a 5, you'll see why. I didn't have a problem with this place until i bought chicks from there and like a horror movie half of them died. They were acting sluggish when we walked out of the store. Would not warm up to the other chicks. I was able to get them to drink, but they fed themselves very little. After struggling to keep them warmer and hydrated, also fed, they died that night. I was fed up. I called Coastal of Redmond about their chick policy and spoke with the "manager" whom was actually a cashier, and she shockingly made me believe their policy on dead chicks is that it's your fault. That they consider their sold for dead chicks to be a return when you tell them the flock they sold you died. They tell you medicated feed helps. It does not. I told her i bought medicated feed. She said that she didn't know what to tell me. Then she dropped a bigger bomb as to why i needed the medicated feed, was because Coastal does not vaccinate nor buy vaccinated chicks. This being the "manager"- takes no responsibility on the health of her chicks nor the satisfaction of her customers. After hearing this fateful news, i went on Coastal's site and left a pretty insightful complaint. The next day corporate emailed me (you have to leave your email for complaints so they can do something about it), they asked for my number. I immediately replied with my number and they called the next morning, some few minutes later, we worked it out. I was More than enough taken care of, and so were my survived chicks. The assistant manager Jim even gave me some advice, and what is comedic is that the girl who impersonated the manager was our cashier that day. Poetic Justice. I loved it. Coastal as a company is on top of things, so if an employee gives you a hard time, it's not the company, just that individual. read more

This is probably the worst business to buy farm animals from. They do NOT vaccinate their chicks. I bought about 10 and half of them died that night. I called and found out that they have zero policy for farm animals and they do not vaccinate. Do yourself a favor and pick a different story for all of your needs. They are getting hundreds of chicks that aren't vaccinated. This means that your chick could have something AND pass it to others. Only one chick is all it takes. The practice of this business has completely turned me off from doin ANY business with them. It's sad to know that they are selling unvaccinated chicks that will most likely die. That's due to not being vaccinated and let to run around with all the other unvaccinated chicks. I should have known when the chicks I saw were all lazy and becoming non responsive. They have refused to refund my money for something that was their fault. I had bought two batches of chicks. One from a store that DID vaccinate and then this store. Zero of the other store chicks have died or even gotten sick. I would give zero stars if I could. Do yourself and everyone else a favor. Boycott this store and do not give them your business. Not only that, but the staff is unprofessional and unhelpful. They tried to give me day old chicks without shavings in the box and was basically handing it to me like it was a rock. I had to tell her three times to put shavings in the box. She kept telling me ''they don't need it'' and I kept telling her that they do. Especially so they don't slip while I'm driving and stress them out. She didn't seem to understand this so I went ahead and grabbed the shavings myself. read more

This place sucks if you're an actual producer. I have a small herd of about 20 high producing dairy goats. Not meat goats, not pets, not the crap you see a lot of around here. Since there are NO dairy's around here cow or goat I'm forced to buy my grain from this place or I should say attempt to buy. I found a Nutrena product that worked very well. I used it for 2 years, a good consistent product. Just as my goats were freshening this year they switched - quit carrying Nutrena & replaced it with some awful poor quality grain made by Country Companion. The goats wouldn't touch it! It was pure mayhem in the milk parlor. I've forced them to eat it, it's NOT consistent, it's cheap crap plain & simple. BUT the best part is they've ran out so much this month that I've been in 3 times only to find out it's" out of stock" I've been forced to feed COB at 7% protein compared to 17% that's horrible for production! Get a clue - most goats freshen in the spring. Whoever is in control of inventory is an idiot, obviously has no livestock knowledge. Nobody can ever tell me when it's coming in, blank stares, they literally ARE just cashiers. Other producers in the area are just as fed up. I finally spoke to a manager, she was pleasant enough but I'm sure everything is out of her hands. In the meantime you can load up on some ugly ass cowboy clothes, certainly not a ranch store!!! read more

Our calves have scours. We discovered this Sarurday night 35 minutes before the store closed. If traffic allows we can make it to the store in 35 minutes. We called ahead to let them know we were coming and why. The store had the products we need at the front counter waiting for us. They held closing for the few extra minutes we needed to get there. read more
