I go into some shops that don't know what the hell a T-11 full is from a spool of 4x tippet. F and F also have great knowledge on the various heads to throw on a skagit vs Skandi set up. I would be cautious on purchasing from this place of business if you are looking for customer service, support and warranty support after the sale. We made significant purchases, bought top of the line gear, prior to the sale we asked Paul the General Manager about service and warranty after the sale which he praised and spoke very highly about. Unfortunately we have a warranty claim, reached out to the Manufacture, was informed of there company policies, procedures and it's probably some of the worst warranty and lead times in the industry. I reached out to Paul after speaking to the Manufacture snd Paul agreed that the Manufactures time frames, procedure's and policies are excessive. That statement and message is not consistent with what Paul's position was before the sale. We have no choice now but to move on and shop elsewhere, if possible we want to help other consumers and avoid others experiencing these same type of situations. read more

My husband and I were planning our first trip to Bend, Oregon & wanted to learn how to fly fish. We signed up for the 1/2 day fly fishing trip on the Crooked River with a guide (Dylan from Fin & Fire) to show us how to fish & then take us to the hot spots. Dylan was THE BEST guide & teacher, it took him 20 minutes to show us how to cast successfully and then he manned the net to help us bring in fish. And bring them in we did!!! This was by far the most fun we have had on a recent vacation. All thanks to Dylan & Fin & Fire Bait Shop!!! Outstanding! I came in to the store having done countless hours of research and already having a good idea of what I was looking for. Chris immediately started helping me decide between two rods that I researched and it was not long before I was casting them out back. He then helped me choose the correct reel and lines and in no time at all spooled my new reel with backing and the line. There is no comparison between buying a fly rod at a big box store and a small town shop with customer service like Fin and Fire. I'd heard good things about this shop, so while I was in town I made a point to check it out. Aside from being the largest Simms gear dealer west of the Mississippi, they also carry a huge selection of Patagonia, Sitka, Korkers, Orvis and more cool hats than you could dream of. The guys were super helpful and friendly and guess what y'all?? They have 36 BEERS on tap! You can drink and shop then get a growler or Crowler to go. Which is exactly what I did, and a sweet rubber pint glass to drink it from. This is such a cool store. I love going in here for lots of reasons. This staff knows their stuff and use the gear that is in this store. I know that sounds like a silly statement but lots of stores you go into that is not the case. As a person that has created retail environments - they knocked it out of the park!!! I love the branding as well- I could see this brand taking off. The layout of the store makes it easy to find everything and take your time to review the gear, etc. Cannot stress enough how awesome the staff is and patient!!!! These guys are the best!!! I took up fly fishing 2 years ago, they have helped me get 2 rods, all the gear needed. and taught me so much. They have no problem telling you what you truly need and do not need. I am sure they are commission, but if you do not need the most expensive reel in the place, they will not try to sell you. However, on that note, they have it all top to bottom if you want it. I have been to all of the fly shops in the bend/redmond/sisters area now. They are the biggest as well as the best....and they have like 25 beer taps to boot!. In the winter, while the fishing is slow, they even offer free fly tying classes every weekend. They will even take you out the the parking lot and give you free tips on your casts. Cannot praise them enough. Paul and Danny especially are great every time I see them. read more

Short and sweet, upon the mecca of central oregon fishing, this place is a must stop for goods, gear, flies and if you have time grab a beer and share some stories with the coolest employees around. Their guiding service is Great! We did an 8 mile float down the Deschutes and stopped at all the hard to reach locations. Our guide, Reed, was able to coach the beginners and help me hone my double throw and mending techniques. I've never had that kind of attention before and it really helped me improve quickly through the day.The also had a really cool boat mounted Traeger Grill they used for making breakfast and lunch. The shop is well organized with nice folks and the beer filling station is bomb. Best trip ever! read more
