I recently went with my niece to have a deluxe facial and hour long massage. After overcoming some hiccups in the "onboarding" process (due to their program), we were treated to a relaxing two+ hours of pampering. The staff were professional and the background sounds were relaxing. We both enjoyed our visit. My only suggestions would be to offer robes for couples massages and find a larger space to do them in. We were in a small room and the staff had a cramped space to moved around us. I would also suggest offering larger waters. Visited this location now for a third time and each time was fantastic. Ashley was my technician and she was incredible. The environment is clean, comfortable and soothing. As a note for the owners... Showers could use a bit of detailing on the rubber seals as there is tiny amounts of mold, that could simply be scrubbed/wiped off, otherwise, the facility is very clean. First visit was a Moms Spa day (divine) and 2nd/3rd were a scrub and massage special which was $140. With a generous tip for stellar service, out the door at $180 each time. I've noticed that they no longer offer the combo special but you can purchase these separately/combine to create something very similar although it is a bit more expensive. Hoping they will bring the special back as it is a great deal even though each treatment is a bit shorter, but for someone on a budget yet willing to spend on something luxurious it was the perfect recipe. Each time I left feeling incredibly relaxed for days. Additionally, the scrub treatment is incredible for your skin and left my skin amazingly soft. Some scrubs, I know they use a hot towel removal, after the scrub each time I would go to the showers, which were clean - love that they have a digital thermometer control for when you rinse/shower off! Then, back to the table for the second part/massage. The combination of these two together was a wonderful experience. Staff is very friendly, typically booking is very simple. You can use their online system or you can call in. I noticed that sometimes my tech is not listed in the available technicians online so often have to call to book... But it is still so simple. I was planning to give a good review and return to Coastal Massage until my experience leaving the establishment. Before my massage, I gave a $106 gift certificate to the person at the front desk and she told me it was good. When I left, a different person at the front desk told me that the cert was over a year old and was only worth 50% of its value so I owed an additional $64. I asked to see the gift certificate again but she said it was gone. (I guess it was shredded during my 50-minute massage.) I knew the cert was a year old, and was prepared to pay a difference if the price had gone up. The cert did not say anything about its value dropping, which I couldn't prove to her since it mysteriously disappeared. Such a shame, since the massage was excellent. Five stars for the massage. I never had a facial a massage or anything done to my brows like they did at coastal massage. They were extremely courteous, very helpful on the phone and very easy to make appointments online. I was happy to find a full spa in Wilmington, locker rooms, stream room, massage service, etc. What I found was the "amenities" were an upcharge on the service, and they were not the relaxing experience I was hoping for. The "relaxation room" prior to service was a tiny room like a closet with just a bench and some pillows.. and we were wearing street clothes for it. My massage was in my opinion 3/10, rough movements, rolling around in a loud chair, dropping things on the floor, far from relaxing. Also room temp was cold. Very few directions were given to get to the steam-room, so I found myself wandering around wearing this strange man skirt towel thing that was provided. Men's bathroom was near front desk, so getting there in my man skirt was awkward. Steam room was ok, but far from private considering it was right off one of two main hallways at the spa. Showered in the only shower in men's locker room, very small space, and water leaked out all over the floor so I spent a few minutes mopping that up. I was happy leaving that the cost wasn't extremely high, (sub $300) we're used to nicer resort style spas and rarely get out of there for under $500. I wouldn't recommend for a full service spa experience, but if you want a good massage, My wife said her masseuse was amazing, one of the best massages she's had. My husband and I have come here twice now for their couples' massage services. When you walk in, the staff is extremely welcoming and friendly. They bring you into the waiting rooms which are filled with cozy chairs. When the massage therapists bring you into the room, they have nice and calming music playing. They make you feel extremely comfortable and ask about areas where you'd like to focus the massage on. During the massage, you will feel so relaxed that the hour will literally fly by! All of the massage therapists we've experienced here so far have been so friendly and answered any questions or concerns that we had. They really do their best to make it a comfortable and relaxing experience for you. We love splurging on experiences we can do as a couple. I was worried the products would irritate my skin but after my facial I looked like a new person. Long post and I'm very late with this review (back in august) I had been going to this spa for on and off 4 years, but consistently going for a year seeing the same massage therapist for the most part. I had a membership and was double billed so I called to let them know. Thought it was no big deal but waited and never heard back from the manager. Called again and no manager to speak with once again. This went on for a few days. Finally, the manager spoke with me and issued the return and all was good. This is by far the best spa I've visited in Wilmington. I have been to many high end spas across the US and this day spa exceeds my expectations for a soothing ocean oasis. Upon my visit, we had to call the front desk for check in (they said it's important to usher us into the massage instead of making everyone sit in the relaxation room for now ) I've had three massages here and every massage has been with different girls. I really can't choose my favorite massage yet, my shoulder and neck is like absolutely new when I leave. First thing's first, if you're reading reviews for this business because you're a casual massage patron or first timer, go ahead and do yourself a favor, book their first time special and use of the amenities and you won't be disappointed! It's a wonderful experience and great value. You're welcome:-) Now for the fun part, if you're a spa junkie like myself and want every detail of my first time experience and hyper critical review you'll want to keep reading. Mundane details: online booking is convenient and easy to use. I had to cancel the original appointments I made for myself and my mom (due to flight change) by phone because I couldn't figure that part out online. Rebooking was no issue. I asked about the robe and relax part and what that meant as far as amenities and was told that was included with services. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted, and ushered into the waiting area to fill out first time info on their tablets. We were immediately offered refreshments and a tour. While touring it was revealed that the amenities were a $20 add on with services. As a spa junkie, amenities are a requirement and part of the experience in my opinion! There is no foregoing this. I opted to add this on to our experience right away but if I'm being honest, I found it a bit odd. I'm not going to name drop in a review but I've been frequenting high end spas since I was a teenager I've never been to a spa which required patrons getting services to pay an additional fee for amenities. To come in without services and use them, yes. I also found the fee a bit high, if you're already getting services perhaps a discount should be offered. I'd hate to forgo a quick steam after a massage because it's $20. Luckily we stayed to relax for over an hour so it made it worth our while. In other spas I've enjoyed and paid to use amenities they've had more worthwhile features such as a private spa pool with swim up bar, terrace to enjoy private meal, whirlpool. Obviously in this space they were limited with what they could include in the Spa and did a great job with what they had. The amenities include: bathroom with two stalls, two sinks and private locker area with two private showers. Everything is new and the showers are well appointed with body jets and rainfall shower head, everything style wise is high end and gorgeous chrome, white and grey modern glam design. Loved all of that. There was also a wet (eucalyptus steam) and dry sauna, as well as a relaxation room with three privately curtained cushioned sitting areas and a snack station with spa waters and other beverages. As someone who doesn't drink alcohol I was really impressed they carried my absolute favorite locally brewed Panacea kombucha. Now on to services. I had my massage with Ashley and it was fabulous overall. She didn't ask and I didn't need to tell her my trouble areas, she was very intuitive and asked about pressure which she was already doing to my liking. There was definitely a couple awkward moments in conversation when I first got in the room. I was asked about my aromatherapy choice (included) and I chose lavender but mentioned I was breastfeeding and needed to avoid any products with peppermint just so she was aware. For whatever reason she got confused and asked me how far along I was while her eyes glanced at my tummy. I won't dwell on this but as someone who just had two babies in the last two years and DOES NOT look like JLo this made me cringe a little. This might have been offensive to some, it was an honest mistake. I got the hot stones and really enjoyed every minute of my service. My mom said hers was awesome as well but sadly she was not offered her included aromatherapy, and she also chose hot stones but was told they were not available (probably bc I was getting them-they should have more!) She also wasn't offered her included mimosa (I declined mine). Since this spa visit was her bday gift I would have rather have had her get all the goodies and her aromatherapy! After our massages we lingered and bounced from the relaxation room eating snacks, drinking booch, to the two saunas. I said I wasn't going to name drop but the staff here is Ritz level, if you know-you know. They did not hover but were always nearby to anticipate ANY need and offer refreshments, cool towels, everything we didn't know we needed (as the best resorts do!). Five stars for customer service across the board. I can see that this space is probably more catered to memberships which they offer for a great value. Currently I'm not in the season of life where I'm able to get away from my family on a regular basis to enjoy a membership but whenever I can I will definitely be returning here.
