Between the receptionist and the provider, there is a severe lack of basic customer service and patient empathy. My primary care provider, Sarah Boyatsis, was condescending and judgmental during our appointments. At one point, she actually became visibly frustrated with me for not remembering specific lab results--information that I, as the patient, was looking to her to explain. The administrative side is equally disappointing. I called to get clarity on a medical charge that I believed should have been covered under preventative care. Instead of help, the receptionist was rude and dismissive. When I asked for a follow-up call for more detail, she backtracked and told me to 'just pay the bill' because anyone else would tell me the same thing. People visit a doctor for care and support, but here I felt like an inconvenience. If you value clear communication and a respectful environment, I suggest looking elsewhere.

I told him I thought it was nice and he explained that he is moving. Then he condescendingly said, "Oh, you are very red. Do you know what that is?" Staying friendly and positive, "Yes..." He retorts, "Oh, well you seem like the type of person who is going to tell me how to do my job." He went into doing tests like "push against my arm", etc. I was having trouble following his verbal instruction (I'm a visual learner). I joked, "I'm red, so I am bad at following directions." He said, "I know". He dragged me into a different room for scans, XRays, and tests. I explained that I have a very high deductible insurance and am nervous about extraneous costs. He was very salesy. He told me if I enrolled in one of his made up programs he could fix me over a year. He adjusted me for like 1 minute in a 45 min appointment. Dr. Shapiro is very unprofessional and has a holier-than-thou attitude. Very narcissistic. I hope his young staff members and patients also realize they deserve to be treated better. Buh bye.

I was so grateful to have Dr. Z come to my apartment to care for my newborn and me. Dr. Z is knowledgeable, kind, and flexible. The model of having the first two months of my child's care from home was so comforting- it allowed me and my baby to stay in the home and rest and heal after delivery. Meg from Tova health handled all the admin stuff. She made scheduling, paperwork, and setting-up the patient portal super simple. When it was time to transition beyond the first two months of care, Dr. Z and Meg helped us find the best pediatrician and make sure they had all our records. Awesome experience! I was not able to get out of bed for over a week after the birth, so our first meeting was with her sitting at the foot of my bed. Thank goodness we chose her for my daughter's pediatrician because there was no way I would have been able to take her to an office. I really needed the fourth trimester care to help me process the trauma from birth, and Dr. Z let me cry and repeat the story over and over again. I'll never forget the time she hugged me and promised me something good would come out of it. She was also provided excellent care to my daughter. I will never forget our crazy first meeting and her kindness. She listened and provided me care when my own OB/GYN's office failed to do so. It is absolutely ludicrous the postpartum care we receive. This fourth trimester care model should be mandatory everywhere.

I wish they would take adults too! We generally see Sherry Pleau for consistency. She is absolutely a gem and a truly caring and uplifting person.

Twice now the good doctor has helped us on a whim with a crucial medication adjustment for our autistic child. The nurses who called us back and told us to increase his doses on Dr Pilz behalf both times neglected to document it nor did they call the pharmacy to adjust his prescriptions. This resulted in us running out prematurely which severely impacts our son in a severely negative way. We will continue to use Dr. Pilz because we can tolerate that type of behavior, but those without patience beware. Restructuring the staff to a more attentive pleasant group may be a good move for the practice.

OAK pediatrics is a culturally diverse office; not just the patients, but the staff as well. The diversity, both social-economical and cultural diversity that OAK pediatrics brings to Westford is definitely an asset. It's nice to see such a welcoming and diverse practice in Westford.

And from that day, I haven't had to worry about fighting for an apt for an acute visit and adequate time with our physician. I also have peace of mind. Because of a monthly membership fee, I can get as many appointments with Dr. Watson as needed without paying more for every appointment. As new Mom, and mother of a preemie, my daughter needed extra care. My family and I are members of Concord Family Tree healthcare system. A system which has wonderful physicians and expert care. The main problem we have with this system of healthcare is that from a health management perspective, it is hard for Moms. Acute visits are rarely available day of. Also, I don't have 10 minutes available to navigate through the automated telephone system when my child is sick. Breakthrough Pediatrics lets me text my doctor! For the modern mom, this is a must. Breakthrough Pediatrics also has generic Rx's on hand. So for my daughter's ear infection, I don't have to also visit a pharmacy to pick up her antibiotics! Also, for Moms with multiple children they let you schedule back to back appointments!
