A fun time. Luckly, the weather broke just in time for the cruise. The captain has an intoxicating accent that is so pleasant and calming. The cruise itself was a nice smooth ride, it may have been able to get a little closer than it did to the sites, but it wasn't a big deal. It was a nice and unique experience to go under the Newport Bridge and so interesting antidotes were offered throughout the ride. Even as someone that lives in RI, I like doing things like this once in a while, and this was well worth it. read more

Had such an amazing experience with the Coastal Queen Crew! We did a seal watching tour during the month of March and saw so many beautiful seals!! I really appreciated the great narrations of the tour guide who provided an equal amount of fun facts about seals and info with historical significance! The entire crew was also very conscientious in regards to the wellbeing of the seals, and did not approach them too closely throughout the tour. I really appreciated that, as respect for wildlife is essential during these excursions! Will definitely be back for their summer tours in Newport!! read more

It was a beautiful day, the ship, crew were all great. But, It was my fault, I thought it would take you behind the famous mansions along Bellevue Ave. I guess that would take too much time. The bay is pretty and interesting, but there is so much to do/see in Newport, I believe the time spent on the ship can be used more enjoyable. If you go on a weekend, be careful with the parking, they tell you to be there early for a reason. We missed our sailing time, but the nice lady was able to accommodate us on next sailing. read more

What a fun adventure! My friend and I were blessed to be aboard the daytime (afternoon) cruise with freshman from a local college whom were very kind. Everything was perfect, from Sara at the ticket booth, Ronnie helping us aboard, Dan navigating our path and Karen preparing our drinks at the bar. Oh, yes, on this chilly New England day we were very pleased that there was ample seating inside by a well stocked bar. This cruise gets five stars easily! We came down to Newport for my friends birthday and oyster in chowderfest and decided to start our day off with a mimosa cruise. We were eager to get on the boat since it was a little rainy that day so we were one of the first ones on. This is the fanciest boat I've been on for this type of large group cruise. The bottom floor of the boat had a stunning wooden bar and long wooden tables with bar style seats and little tables along the windows. There's TWO FULL SIZED BATHROOMS! These bathrooms were nicer than some restaurant bathrooms I've been to on land, can't believe they were on a boat! The top level could be completely opened but they had clear plastic covers down all around since it was rainy. The guide was great, we learned a lot and had a blast on the boat. Highly recommend and I think we'll be back on a sunny day so we can see more. read more

PROS: this cruise experience was great! The staff was nice and showed you all the mansions and lighthouses from the water-- including JFKs wedding reception house and Adam sandlers home. Cost was good while duration was good CONS: their bar was limited on board and they didn't serve food. Great cruise. Would definitely recommend as you get to see Newport from a different point of view. Prices at the bar were reasonable. Only thing that needs to be changed would be the tour guide. Would've gotten 5 stars, but deducted one for the boring tour guide. The gentleman giving the tour was as boring that you could get. A PBS special would've been more fun to listen to. We were a bachelorette group of 9 and we had the loveliest time on our Coastal Queen cruise. The staff was friendly and attentive, our drinks were delicious. We enjoyed having an indoor and outdoor portion of the boat to keep us warm during a 50 degree June day. Also for a Sunday afternoon it wasn't overly crowded making for a pleasant ambiance. On a hot August Saturday, my daughter and I were looking for an entertaining way to beat the heat. Fortunately we found the Coastal Queen cruise. After searching for harbor tours in areas around us (Boston, Salem, Gloucestor) I came across the Yelp listing for Coastal Queen Cruises. At $35 (plus a $1 fuel surcharge) the price for the 1 hour 15 minute scenic bay cruise was very reasonable, especially with gas prices being what they are now. I was easily able to book our spot via the website two hours before the cruise departed. If you are doing this on a busy weekend summer day, I highly recommend you allow a lot of extra time to find parking. The area is very congested so driving is very slow and parking is hard to find. We lucked out and got the last open spot in the Bowen's Wharf hourly lot. Now, for the cruise itself: We boarded about 10 minutes before our scheduled 3:00 departure time. The captain and crew members welcomed us aboard and we were able to get drinks before departing a few minutes after 3:00. Every crew member was friendly and welcoming. They used a wireless microphone to point out various historical landmarks along the way. One of them also took a picture of me and my daughter. When the tour was over, all of the crew members thanked us for coming as we walked off the boat. Bottom line: I highly recommend Coastal Queen Cruises. Many thanks to the wonderful, friendly crew that brought this experience to the next level. I will definitely sail with Coastal Queen Cruises again the next time I am in Newport! read more

Cruise ended 15 minutes early. I am looking for a refund on the difference. The cruise was about 75% full, still had to wait a long time to get a drink at the bar. Only one bartender regardless how many people in line. There are other cruise companies in Newport Harbor. I will try someone else next time. read more

This was my first Ferry Boat ride and it was so nice. We went on 11/5/2023 @ 1:15pm. The guide for this tour was so nice and knowledgeable. It was so cool hearing the history of everything as we passed by. We sat on the top deck, in the front left side of the boat and it was the perfect spot for most of the ride. The process, from getting our tickets online to getting our boarding passes, was quick and easy. Boarding was very well handled, and we left exactly on time. The commentary and narration was entertaining and enlightening. The views were outstanding and picture taking opportunities were one of a kind. Learned a lot of local history thanks to this cruise. The sea state was good, with enough wind to have many sailboats, and sail boards out with us. The cruise was one and a half hours long, which was a perfect length of time for my family. Right when they were starting to say they were "over" with all things "nautical", we were pulling next to the pier for disembarking. The crew was very friendly. Cannot say enough good things! Really planned this coastal queen cruise at the last minute and so glad we did! The website was easy to navigate bought tickets that morning was on a 3 PM tour and the guide was unbelievably knowledgeable. We learned about all of the properties, the yachts, the families that owned and lived in them . We even got to view A sea and land plane taking off into the air from the water !
