The food was good and the environment was good but I want to write about the best service…read moreexperience I've had ever and it had everything to do with our server, Kyle. It was the last night of our vacation and we wanted seafood and specifically a crab boil. We got seated right away and Kyle came over to introduce himself, he was very kind and personable. We started asking about the appetizers and he recommended the charbroiled oysters which were great. I asked if they were spicy and he said no. Then he came back to take our orders a bit later. I asked if the crab boil was spicy and the others ordered. I ended up ordering the crab boil. When he brought my food over he said, "I hope it is okay but I asked them to put the broth in a separate boil in case you felt it was too spicy. Ive included a large melted butter and lemon instead." I almost cried. I didn't tell him but I have stage 4 cancer and it has created many issues with being able to eat. I hate to be a pest so I just ask if things are spicy and find something else if my server says yes. He had just listened to my questioning and thought something may be happening so he came up with a perfect solution. I never told him I had cancer, just thanked him so much but my family and I were emotional because I haven't had a decent meal out because everything seems spicy in the year I've been fighting this. I want Kyle to know how much it meant and the service was absolutely amazing. Thanks Kyle and to Bayou Bill's for hiring someone as amazing as him.

The food is decent, though not somewhere I would consider for a special occasion. We have dined…read morethere several times when visiting town and have generally found it to be an average restaurant. On our most recent visit, after a six-hour drive, we decided to order takeout. When we received the bill, it seemed higher than expected. Upon asking for clarification, we were told there was an 8% "packaging fee," which exceeded the local tax. This charge was not itemized as a packaging fee on the receipt--only listed as "8%"--and there was no explanation provided. Since it had been a long day and our order was already prepared, we chose to proceed with the purchase. What concerned us most was that this fee was neither disclosed on the website nor mentioned when we placed our order. We only became aware of it after questioning the total. Greater transparency would have been appreciated. If such charges were clearly communicated in advance, customers could make informed decisions. While we understand that restaurants operate with tight margins, unexpected fees leave a negative impression and ultimately influenced our decision not to return. We have enjoyed the food in the past, but at this price point, we would likely explore other options that we feel offer better overall value.

I would rate this place a 0 if I could. I ordered meat for tacos, and when the employee ran out…read morewhile preparing my order, he went to the back to get more to finish it. When I got home, I noticed the meat had long pieces with nerves and connective tissue in it. I asked the butcher what cut it was, and he said it was chuck roll. However, as a butcher myself, it looked much more like shoulder clod. There was also a 3.25% surcharge for credit card use added to my purchase, even though I paid with a debit card. When I called the store about the issue, they told me I could come back. When I arrived to request a refund, instead of helping resolve the problem, I had three employees arguing with me at once. They claimed they couldn't give a full refund because of "tax" and the "credit card fee," even though they never even looked at my receipt to verify how I paid or what was actually charged. Another employee insisted there was tax on the meat, which shouldn't apply to uncooked food. Rather than owning the mistake, they kept directing me to speak with the meat department for an exchange when all I wanted was a refund. I also asked to speak with a manager, and they said no manager was available. On top of that, the sanitation practices were concerning. The man working in the meat department was not wearing gloves or a beard net, even though he had a beard. I also saw him grabbing beef feet with his bare hands. That is not sanitary and definitely not what I expect to see in a meat department. As a Mexican butcher myself, I'm honestly disappointed in both the customer service and the quality of the meat. The situation was handled very poorly, and the meat is overpriced for the quality. I definitely won't be coming back.

The prime rib was actually well done, and tough. The salmon Benedict was chewy, not supposed to be. Potatoes were actually cold, when I went to get my prime rib, one of the workers did not want to help me, so he simply stepped back and pointed at another worker to help me. We were served water in plastic cups, and no decorations on any of the tables, for the fantastic Mom's. The Bloody Mary was not good...no mix, just vodka and Tobasco. The photograph on their advertisement for this Mother's Day brunch, showed a plate of food and a mimosa. They offered no description of what was included for the $95 per person. I called them twice and left two messages. I also left a message on their Facebook page, simply asking for a description of what the $95 included. No response, nothing. This is a place that is highly recommended on 38, and we see no reason to recommend this place to anybody or to ever revisit going here. Also, upon asking our waitress for our check, we were told that there would be an automatic gratuity added, which turned out to be just over $60. Non negotiable. We watched the manager who was resting a khaki colored suit, white hair, and glasses, walk around to almost every table in the restaurant, except for ours. We will not be back. Our opinion is that it is overpriced, subpar, quality food, nothing fresh about anything, average service, and really sneaky with the service fee that they add on after your meal is completed. Thank you.
