I honestly can't believe how many positive reviews this place has. In my opinion, Louis Louis is incredibly overrated. For the prices, I expected a much better experience. Entrées were around $50 per person, and drinks were about $20 each, so this is definitely not an inexpensive meal. Unfortunately, the service felt more like a fast-food restaurant than a nice dining experience. Our server rushed through everything like an auctioneer and seemed determined to get us in and out as quickly as possible. The seating was also disappointing. Our booth was literally held together with duct tape, and the cushion underneath had completely worn out, making it uncomfortable. The ambiance was eclectic, but there was no music, no atmosphere, and no real vibe. Between the rushed service, worn-out seating, and high prices, the experience simply didn't live up to the hype. We stopped in with our party of 9 and had a short wait on a Friday night but were seated quickly. Service was smooth and attentive with food recommendations and we selected most of the specials, fried green beans were great as an appetizer, blacked Grouper, shrimp and scallops with pasta and kids chicken tenders. All were fresh and really enjoyed the fried cheesy grits under the grouper and the kids chicken tenders were large and homemade. This is the restaurant my friend group chose for our nice dinner at the beach. Louis Louis is in Santa Rosa Beach. When we got here, there was a 40 minute wait, but that was fine as we were able to order drinks at the bar and enjoy it on the outside patio. I ordered the Blu Lou which was like a blueberry sour mix and sprite cocktail. Very tasty! Once we got to to our table inside, We ordered mozzarella sticks to share for the table. I ordered the Chicken Panne as my entree. It was delicious! I forgot how much I loved Chicken Panne and especially the capers! it came with mashed potatoes, bread, and a salad that was tossed in some of the best vinaigrette! My friend Liza ordered the kid's serving which was pretty much the same plate minus one piece of chicken so that's probably what I would get next time if not I will get the shrimp and crawfish pasta which also really caught my eye as well! read more

A throwback type of atmosphere for a fun casual dinner. Surprisingly very good food, especially the blackened grouper. Menu items and seasoning leans more New Orleans southern comfort. My sister and her husband had been here before and really like the place so we booked reservations for my brother-in-laws birthday dinner. Heir menu really doesn't change, but it doesn't need to. They have amazing seafood, great sides and cold drinks. Josh was our waiter and was very speedy! We go out orders in and dinner seemed like it came out quick and hot. I tried that gumbo first and the flavor put be back in New Orleans. I had the grouper and my fiancé ordered the crab cakes. I heard they were known for their crab cakes, but I wasn't a huge fan. My blackened grouper was absolutely delicious. The seasoning wasn't over powering and the fish was cooked to perfection. The salad was my favorite part crazy enough. It was a tomato basil vinaigrette that was out of this world with flavor. It had a sweet base to it that brought out the basil flavor that made us all guess what the ingredients were. What I really enjoyed about this place was that the owner was walking around all night checking on the tables and making sure everyone was enjoying themselves and that the food was perfection. What an amazing dinner! Lobster bisque, fried green beans. Chicken and Grouper dishes. Everything was spectacular! The grouper was absolutely the best dish we had but the chicken which was prepared the same was also exceptionally made. Service was perfect! Great food and service! There's only about 5 entrees on the menu, but they do them all very well. The pan sauteed grouper with capers and brown butter sauce was delicious. Came with mashed potatoes that were equally as good, probably the best I've ever tasted. My better half had the blackened grouper with bacon cheddar grits cake and thought it was the bee's knees. Service was quick and attentive. Cool thing is that almost every entree can be made gluten free, with no issues. A little bit of a hike from Destin, but very much worth the trip. read more

Really want a place that showcase grouper. Louis Louis came up as the best grouper spot and tell him. They have a very small menu so the whole party has to want to eat one of those items. Our party opted for the pan, grouper, black, and grouper, and crabcakes. They're all very yummy. The platters are pretty big so would suggest coming in very hungry. You were able to swap outside so something to think about before you come in. The salad and mashed potatoes were super good! The grit cake was not my favorite. This is a great place for large parties as well however, they do get busy and I would suggest getting here early. Definitely a must try if you're feeling hungry! read more

So, the ambiance is great, and we walked right in and got sat at 6:30, no problem. Our entrees were absolutely awesome. With that being said, it was insane how quickly our food came out. I shit you not, we ordered and it was at our table within 5 minutes (I should mention that 2 of the entrees were blackened grouper and 1 was a shrimp and crawfish pasta) I can only imagine that because there are only 5-6 items on the menu, that they are cooking those items constantly and just plating up as the orders come in. Kind of like going to a dim sum restaurant. The only reason I'm not a fan of this is because I barely even started my cocktail when the food arrived. It was a blueberry vodka drink. I wanted to have a glass of wine with dinner, but that plan went out the window. I can't even tell you how this threw my husband off, and he's been a chef for over 25 years (it's kind of funny how angry he was that the food was so good for how short a time it took to come out). I appreciate the need to turn and burn tables, but this was a little off putting. There were empty tables all around us. We spent almost $300 to feel rushed. I would highly recommend anyone dining here to make sure that you tell the server to put a 15 minute hold on your food, or withhold the order until you are ready if you would like to enjoy the experience. Absolutely love Louis Louis - this is one of our go-to restaurants anytime we're in the Destin area. We're always craving the smoked tuna dip - it's the best of any restaurant in the area (smoky flavor with a little spicy kick)...could eat this several times a week. The entrees are always amazing - grouper and salmon are our favorites (simple but the flavors are amazing for both dishes)!!! And can't say enough about the service - we have our favorite waiter that seems to wait on us every time we come year after year. He's just the best - great personality and always on top of everything. Definitely check this restaurant out if in the area!!! read more

My wife and I enjoyed our visit today. We both had the crabcake app and think the cake part is misleading. Anything other than crab is not detectable. The verblank sauce alone should be served with a roll for dredging. Then I had the blackened grouper, oh my God! Ruth had the sautéed grouper and enjoyed it immensely but wonders if she should had ordered the shrimp and crayfish pasta because that sounded good.too... the service was great and the eclectic vibe was challenging because if you try to take it all in you'll need a nap. This is one of those places that listened to the experts, do a few things and do them really well! So happy we ventured down to Santa Rosa for this great dining experience. We had a short wait, and we ordered immediately and our food was out before our drinks. I had the crab cakes and they were wonderful perfectly seared crab with very little "filler" and the best mashed potatoes I have ever put in my mouth. (I had Jeff Ruby's on the Friday before and said the same thing so I was in mashed potato heaven this week LOL) The green salad was light and bright and a great counter point to other items on the plate. The hubby had the pan sautéed grouper and my tiny taste I got to have of that was amazing! Ok, this is where I am just going to sound old...this restaurant was LOUD. Like hard to talk to the person across from you loud. If you have a member of your party that has sensory issues this is not the place to go. We will be back, but I think we will try to eat outside. I'm honestly surprised by the number of five star reviews. The interior of the restaurant is like Applebees on acid. We chose to sit at the bar, many of the stools had duct tape on them. We ordered basil cucumber martinis and immediately after those were served the appetizer came out. The crab cake was okay. We barely finished that and the entrees came out, one blackened grouper and one (pan fried? I don't remember). The speed at which the food came out lead me to believe it was sitting in the kitchen waiting to be served. We took a slice of key lime to go - the pie was good. Louis Louis is fun and quirky with a short but mighty menu. This was a random find on our Florida vacation and we all thought it was so good. The portions are LARGE so come with an appetite. There is not many options for vegetarians or vegans so if you are those then this is not the place for you. The chicken special was amazing and I shared the lasagna with my mother in law ( the only vegetarian option) and it was also super good. Overall the experience was good! The ambiance kitschy and fun. We LOVE Louis Louis! We visit the Destin area often and always like to make sure Louis Louis is one of our stops. They have the best fresh seafood with yummy sauces. Melanie was our waitress tonight and she was so sweet and helpful letting me pick and choose to make my meal exactly what I wanted. Love the blackened grouper which is a large piece of fish. It usually comes on the mashed potatoes, but I LOVE the grit cake and lemon butter capers sauce. Melanie took my special order and made it happen. The restaurant has both indoor/outdoor and bar seating with a super cool vibe. Red lights and tons of decor leaving no wall untouched. The fried green beans were tasty as well and were a huge quantity. Too many for just the two of us so it would be great for a larger party. Highly recommend giving them a try if you are in the area.
