I'm disappointed with the experience we had this morning at First Watch. Our group of 10 arrived and waited patiently to be seated. However, while we were still waiting, several smaller groups -- mostly white -- who came in after us were seated before us. When we asked the staff, we were told the kitchen was understaffed and that they were only seating smaller parties. While I understand staffing issues can happen, it was hard not to notice the pattern -- we were the only Asian group waiting, and somehow every other table that was seated ahead of us did not face the same restriction. It left us with a very uncomfortable feeling, as if we were being quietly excluded for reasons beyond staffing. Disappointed and hurt. We expected better. UPDATE after business response: Thank you for the reply, but I must clarify that what happened didn't feel like a simple staffing issue. As a group of Asian diners, we were treated differently than multiple smaller white groups who came in after us and were seated first. This was hurtful and felt discriminatory. When I was Yelping places for brunch in Destin, and knew this was our last meal before heading back to Atlanta, I decided what the hell.... I like this place because they have many options, and the food is fresh and good quality.
