Coastal fired our condominium association. The reason was "interference " as we wanted to draft our own budget, have a say in the hiring and firing of maintenance personnel, and generally have a hand on what was being done with our property. Financial statements were always late, several times the association credit card was not paid, did not follow up on overcharges by the waste company, etc. in addition, several times the posting of notices of upcoming meetings was not done. in the end, the last month they basically didn't care much. read more

We stayed in unit 612 on their property called St. Augustine Beach & Tennis Resort This was the first time I stayed at a place without being able to see pictures and I very much regret it. Because it was privately owned time share they didn't have them but claimed they were all comparable to what they had online. This wasn't the case. I wanted a place near the ocean. This one was was supposed to be closest, a five minute walk to beach (it was closer to a ten minute walk but he walk wasn't too bad.) Thankfully there was a porta potty on the beach or we would've been in trouble as we were to far to use our bathroom. This part of our stay was fine though further then I anticipated. The condo was very old. The toilet downstairs had a leak and looked like they tried to patch it but leaked water every time you flushed. The master bathroom was in bad shape. Sink was calcified. Condo used the cheapest appliances. Coffee maker was so bad you had to warm it in the microwave. (No frying pan. )The refrigerator was very old and the freezer wouldn't freeze ice. The dishwasher didn't want to open so we washed by hand. All of my ice cream melted and was inedible and had to be thrown out. The washing machine and dryer didn't work well either. The dryer took three attempts the dry one load and the washing machine left detergent on my clothes. The pillows were old and like rocks to sleep on the first night and the bed sloops to center. I called the next day to get replacement and tell them the stove wasn't working. The maintenance came by while we were out and fixed stove and left pillows but did not lock the room and left door slightly ajar with all of our valuables inside! The pool was closed before we even got to back from beach. The patio was filthy and the screen all ripped and the door wouldn't close on the porch. We have tried to find something nice to say about this experience but the best we have is that the air conditioning worked well. This was not a good value for the money and strongly do NOT recommend this place. It was below acceptable standards. I wish I could have better things to say. Whitney Buss(Curry) is useless at her job. HOAs beware. I paid my dues late and Whitney cashed my check and didn't put it towards my account(nor did she send me a notice for a late fee), she proceeded to send me to an attorney (who I'm assuming they need to send a certain amount of homeowners to so they can retain them). At that point stated she could not communicate with me even though I was arguing with the fact that she cashed my check and still did not apply my payment to my account showing my account was still delinquent. This equated to me paying the attornies $3,000 (because it was cheaper to pay them than to fight it). There are numerous stories with different homeowners who are not happy with Whitney's negligence. read more

Not impressed by unit #37. Saw another unit that was very nice. This unit was Motel 6 caliber amenities. Coffee pot made only 2 cups- condo was supposed to sleep 6. Linens were mismatched and had obviously seen many washings. There was not the fold out sleep sofa we expected. It was a blow up mattress we found the 2nd day in a garage cupboard. We know the owner is responsible to upkeep and maintain the units. Seems this owner not as interested in guest comfort as others we met. read more

Avoid anything connected to them...We rented a unit in Ocean Village Club and awoke one night to find a giant cockroach crawling around the unit.....the following morning we went into the office to advise them of the situation and were told that its Florida and this happens and they could come spray but that was it. We than asked for a new unit and were told we would have to pay another cleaning fee and they could not guarantee the new unit would not have the same problem. I would not stay at any property they handle if this is how the handle these situations. read more

Stayed in St. Augustine this past Memorial Day for a week at the Ocean Village condos and this stay was memorable in all the wrong ways. I play the beach paddle tennis tournament in the area once a year and have stayed in many of these types of beachfront condos before. I stayed in a unit in the P building...at first glance the place looked ok, just a bit dated. However, as we stayed there the first evening we started to notice A LOT of issues with mere basics of the place. First off, the towels were disgusting, they had rusty orange stains all over the (white) towels, one of the bathrooms had no toilet paper, the toilet seat was STUCK to the toilet cover in the master bedroom....you had to pry it apart, then when sitting down it would fall on your back. The washer/dryer unit was filthy, with rust all over the front. The garbage disposal in the sink did not work. There was the smell of garbage every time i opened the balcony door...management claimed it was sulfur from the sprinkler (yeah right). BUGS BUGS BUGS, our unit had ants, and my friends unit had cockroaches. The lady who claimed to be the manager "Tina" was extremely impatient and nasty when confronted with these issues. Listen, I am on vacation and I am paying over $800 to rent a place to stay, I don't have time to deal with repairmen and housekeeping because your property management company is too lazy/incompetent to hire a decent cleaning crew and ensure the condo has the bare essentials. AND the kicker, if this all wasn't enough....they charged me for extra cleaning fee, claimed i left dishes and garbage all over my unit (i didn't leave a thing). When I called them furious over the charge, they emailed me "proof" that my unit was "dirty", only guess what? The video they sent me WAS NOT even of my unit. The incompetence of these people is really pathetic all around, I called my credit card company to dispute the charges, I am done with Coastal and their rude worthless agents. Do yourself a favor and avoid Coastal Realty at all costs. If you don't you will regret it. I certainly do. read more

Our condo we rented was filthy. I am talking hadn't been cleaned in months. Blood on the sheets, entire kitchen is sticky, carpet is infested with animal hair and looks like the flooring behind you refrigerator before I spring clean. The door frames and doors are so sticky, filthy, and dirty I had to wash my hands after I closed the doors. The kitchen, appliances and dishes were so disgusting we couldn't cook there. We contacted Coastal Reality to let them know about the state of the condo and see if they could have it cleaned on our way to Universal Studios for the day. They said they would send someone out. We came back and everything was still filthy. We called the next day and an answering service picked up at 11am on a fri. They said someone would call us back and no one did. So we stopped into the Coastal office the following day with pictures. I had to shove them in the Coastal employee's face because she would not look up and they essentially told us they have been trying to get the owners to upgrade things. We explained we didn't care about the furnishings being dated but it should have been cleaned. When we stopped back in the condo later that afternoon the entire thing smelled of bleach and we were excited because we thought they cleaned. NOTHING had been touched! They did nothing. When we dropped the keys off we again voiced our unhappiness. They said there was nothing they could do. TERRIBLE rental company!!! read more

Coastal Realty literally saved our vacation! We originally book a week through an online site, renting a condo from an individual. When we checked in, we immediately smelled stale heavy smoke. A complete deal breaker for this family of non-smokers! The condo was listed as non-smoking but clearly had been smoked in A LOT. After contacting the owner, we were fully refunded, but had nowhere to go. With a car full of groceries just purchased on the way in town, we reached out to Coastal Realty with a desperate cry for help. Patty's soothing, kind, and professional voice told us to come to her office, and she would find us a place to stay. She let us go visit a couple of places that were good options but not exactly what we were looking for. But she didn't stop there. She made a call to another C. R. associate who told us to come to her office. Already knowing our back story, she said she had the perfect place for us. She walked us into a recently remodeled condo that was gorgeous!! It was better than we could have imagined, especially considering it was 4:30 on a Wednesday afternoon. We are so thankful for the extra effort and professional treatment we received from 3 agents at Coastal Realty. They all went above and beyond their call of duty. Patty for getting the ball rolling, Peyton for getting us into a beautiful condo, and for Dee getting our WiFi issues resolved!! I learned my lesson, and from now on I will not hesitate to recommend and use Coastal Realty. read more

This is the second time I have stayed in the St Augustine Beach & Tennis Resort, except I would not classify it as a resort, it's more like the slums. The owners of these units do not spend any money updating or repairing them. Neither unit was clean. There were bugs in the light fixtures, Bathroom vents did not work. A/C vent was hanging out of the ceiling. Light fixtures were rusted. Carpeting was filthy. we had to wash every counter top and furniture top thoroughly. We had to rewash every dish, the dishwasher made the dishes dirty and scummy. The refrigerator exterior was so hot you could not touch it. The repairman said it could have caught fire. There was no smoke alarm in unit either. We had maintenance at the unit several times. The livingroom furniture was dirty and old. We had to have the cleaning people back to clean between the couch cushions it was so dirty/nasty. The bare floors were so dirty that you did not dare walk barefoot in the unit. I had to buy a floor mop one was not provided. I spoke to several other renters who shared the same story. It is obvious that management does not make thorough walk throughs and are negligent in managing these units. I have my doubts that they would stay here. It was very disappointing, We had to endure this condition for a month. My 86 year old mother was mortified. We could not wait to leave. read more

We went through Coastal Realty to rent a condo at Ponce Landing. First let me say that for 20 years we have stayed at Ponce Landing and have loved it. Everyone is always so nice and the condo is so very nice and clean. Great family environment. However.....apparently Coastal Realty has taken over the management of the Condos. The employees with Coastal Realty are extremely and I do mean extremely RUDE!!!! If you can, rent through the individual owners of the condos and DO NOT go through Coastal Realty. After a 7 hr drive, we went by C.R. just to see if our condo was ready early. The lady at the office was so rude to us. She said "Check in time isn't until 4pm and no earlier" (It was 3:30pm) She made us wait until exactly 4pm before handing over the keys to the condo. Then when we arrived at the condo one of the toilets were broken and the maintenance worker wasn't able to fix it until the next morning. We decided to leave early on our checkout date. Went to CR to drop off the keys and they were not open, but there was a drop box. The instructions were to use a code we were supposed to be issued to open the box and place the keys inside. Well, we were never given a code. Surprise Surprise!! I left a message on the voice mail advising what we did with the keys. Halfway home I get a rude call from CR wanting to know why we have failed to checkout and did I know it was an hour after the checkout time. I advised them I left a message and tried to be polite, but by the end of the conversation CR got a piece of my mind. I will NEVER EVER rent from Coastal Realty!!!!! read more

Rgarding Tradewinds Condomium, Crescent Beach. We had stayed here for many years, not because it's that great but because the ramp and boat storage across the street is convenient. Last July (2013) Coastal Realty notified us at the last minute that there was construction going on, but they would give us a discount on the condo. Since it was so late we agreed. The construction noise and mess was pretty bad - but we had agreed to it and didn't complain. What we DIDN'T count on was the pool closing. NOT because of construction - but because the pump went out. Seriously. Pool pumps go out - it happens. But somehow they were unprepared for this and were unable to repair it. We were without pool for 5 days of our week vacation. Coastal Realty refused any additional discount and would not put us in touch with the owner. This basically ruined our vacation. They stink. I would not rent a doghouse through this company. read more

Run away from this company......they are the absolute worst!! Rented a specific condo in this Ocean Village Club. After paying all the fees, recvd a contract. It was not worth the paper it was written on. Drove 13 hours and looked forward to crashing at the condo I spent a great of time looking at. Even spoke to the owner herself and she was wonderful...I explained the property management was not returning calls, gave me misinformation, etc. that was my first clue to just walk away but the owner offered to intervene and she was so nice. So like a fool I sent the money to the management team. I had spent a lot of time choosing just the right condo. Was very comfortable with the owner. So we arrive and are told our condo was not available the had inadvertently rented it the before. They thought the people would be leaving before our check in....well they didn't and they were not in the condo even tho all their stuff was. She offered to relocate us to another condo. No problem, I have worked customer service for 30 years and know stuff happens. The condo was not what I would have chosen, on the 2nd floor and recently had angioplasty, but it was okay. Imagine my surprise when I read 2 emails sent to me the day before informing me there was a leak at the condo and it flooded.....the next one says my room is ready....so what's the real story and why not be honest. So exhausted got some pizza and went to bed. Next morning go to the bathroom and I am horrified. There are ants everywhere. Send hubby to get bug spray and ant traps...the next thing the kitchen light fixture falls on hubby's head....being a typical engineer he just fixes it. I take shower and while I am getting dressed, I notice ants on my pants and shirt....now I am getting mad. But busy day, think I will deal with it Monday am when there is a (real) manager on duty. Our company leaves, we get ready for bed, both hubby and I use Cpap machines. I put mine on and I start coughing...very weird but leave it on....go into terrible coughing fit. Take off mask and decide to rinse out and clean with special wipes.....OMG......ants are in the tubing......now I am furious.....like I said been in customer service for over 30 years.....now I will go onto every condo they have listed and tell potential customers to run away from this site. Since I no longer work, I have plenty of time to do just that. They can no longer correct an incompetent situation, but I will be checking to see what laws they violated and see what else I can do. This company has violated their own contract and I would not want them representing my condo to the public. I also saw they have 2 other horrible reviews. I wonder if the local newspaper would be interested!! I will be speaking with upper management in the AM but just so anyone else might need some additional info, I charged my payment on my BOA credit card. They will most likely reverse the fee since I did not get what I contracted for. But why go thru all of this? Just stay away from this management company period!! The unit I was contracted for was N17, the unit I recvd was C24......horrible, dirty and bug infested. Will update after my meeting in the AM. The saddest part, my mother in law is just a few blocks away and my brother has a condo a few blocks away, but thought we would just rent a condo to give everyone their much needed space.......seems like only the ants got their space. read more

The people at Coastal realty were helpful every step of the way- from reservations to local information to ease of departure- they were top notch! What impressed me most was their helpfulness getting some things together which in my haste to leave, I left behind. Dee was especially helpful with great follow through and a kind demeanor. We've stayed at Windjammer Condominiums, managed by Coastal Realty, for the last 3 years for 3-4 month stays, and the overall experience has been extremely positive. They have treated us with exceptional courtesy and friendliness, and all condominium issues/problems were handled in a very timely and professional manner. And, indeed, there were issues with the first unit we stayed in, as the owners seemed reluctant to 'upgrade' certain features, such as the aging plumbing for example. But to be clear here, it was Coastal Realty who resolved the issues in such a way as to minimize the impact/inconvenience on us, in spite of the owners' reluctance. And when another recently renovated unit became available, CR managed our switch with ease. Currently we couldn't be happier with CR and Windjammer, and certainly we will be returning next year. read more
