I love this place and have been coming here for about seven years! The owner is friendly and makes…read morescheduling easy. We usually just text to set up appointments. The atmosphere is cozy, comfortable, and welcoming. One thing I really appreciate is that when you book a 90-minute massage, you actually receive the full 90 minutes, which isn't always the case elsewhere. The therapists are highly skilled, and my therapist, Paris, is outstanding. They also maintain a professional environment and make it clear that inappropriate behavior is not tolerated. I really respect and appreciate that level of integrity.

Me and a friend were put in a very small room for it being a "couple massage room". I hate to be so…read moreblunt but, hands down worst massage I've ever gotten. There was a couple questions asked in the beginning, but after that, zero communication. The blanket coverage and moving of the blanket was terrible, I felt so exposed at times and it was very uncomfortable. In the beginning there was upper back and neck massaging with NO oil or lotion, the pressure was so insane it felt like she was going to rip my skin off. I told her where I had issues, one being my neck which wasn't focused on at all, and the little work I did get my neck now feels worse. For context, I'm not a whimp, I love a deep tissue massage and have had 100's of Thai massages...this was just painful with no form of relaxation at all. When I did ask for less pressure, I didn't get it. I honestly was so uncomfortable the entire time & so uneasy, and to top it off...they stopped 15minutes early...not that I wanted it to be any longer, but if you pay for 90 minutes, it should be 90minutes. Save yourself the pain & waste of money and go literally ANY where else. Will no longer be going anywhere other than my usual spot. Never had a massage be so violent...what kind of place pulls your hair to end??? As for the photo...using a walker...I can't

What sets Skylar apart is his advanced musculoskeletal knowledge, his technique, and his incredible intuition. I sometimes joke that he has X-ray vision. Even if I can't name every ache or area of tension, Skylar somehow finds and treats every sore spot and addresses patterns I didn't even realize were contributing to the issue. After five months of consistent sessions, I've had a significant reduction in chronic back and neck pain, less overall soreness, and even an improvement in my overall wellbeing. Skylar's deep tissue work is firm and therapeutic while still being relaxing -- a rare combination. He is also especially skilled at treating harder-to-access areas (i.e. around and under the scapula) that many therapists don't effectively address. Barefoot Bliss Massage is a gem -- it has a soothing atmosphere; Holly, Phoenix and Stacy at the reception desk are welcoming and so helpful; easy online booking; and very reasonable pricing (the membership is a great value). Highly recommend Skylar and Barefoot Bliss.

Very disappointing experience…read more I was really looking forward to this appointment, especially as a busy mom who does not get much time to carve out for myself, but unfortunately this was one of the worst massage experiences I have ever had. My massage therapist walked in through the front door five minutes after my appointment start time, already putting things off on the wrong foot. During the massage, she asked if I wanted more pressure and I said yes, but the massage remained extremely weak and half-hearted, often using only one hand. I began to suspect she was distracted or not fully present. Eventually, I could not ignore the feeling anymore. I told her I needed to use the restroom, got up, and when I checked, she was on her phone actively watching something and she tried hiding her phone under the sheet. At that point, I walked out without finishing the service. I was so uncomfortable and unhappy that I could not take another minute. While the front desk receptionist was kind, she was having an open conversation with another massage therapist, loudly discussing her neighbor and calling him a redneck, which felt highly unprofessional and inappropriate for a spa environment. To make matters worse, the bathroom felt neglected. The faucet handle did not work properly, and there was a half used open water bottle with no cap sitting on the shelf, which was unsettling and unsanitary. As I was leaving, she told me that management would call me to follow up, but I never received a call. Overall, the space did not feel relaxing, calming, or professional. I left feeling frustrated and upset that my time and money were wasted. It is incredibly disappointing when you finally make time for self care and are met with such poor service and lack of respect for the client experience. I truly hope management addresses these issues, because this was not acceptable.

I've never been one for massages. Usually, it's something I get guilted into while on…read morevacation--some overpriced, sterile "wellness" ritual peddled by hotel spas that care more about cucumber water and ambient flute music than actually fixing your back. You know the type: one-size-fits-all treatments with names like "Zen Renewal" or "Earth Embrace," run with the efficiency and warmth of a TSA checkpoint. But Massage Associates? Different story. No pretentious fountain gurgling in the lobby, no whispery receptionist pushing eucalyptus diffusers like they're selling snake oil. This place is raw, real, and refreshingly un-fancy. It's about the work--the grind, the muscle, the human connection. They ask questions, they listen, and they tailor the experience like they actually give a damn. Because they do. You're not just passing through. You're becoming part of something--a regular. And you're getting that at a price that doesn't make you hate yourself afterward. So if you're looking for the theatrical, the perfumed illusion of wellness... keep walking. But if you want the real deal--the kind of massage that works, not performs--then pull up a chair. Massage Associates gets it right.

I've been going to all types from resort spas, to Burke, and small local owned business throughout OC for over 20yrs, and let me tell you...THIS IS IT!!! I've experienced chronic back pain over the last few months and not only did Ta stretch and massage and help heal the pain, she went above and beyond and gave me some ideas of things to do at home in between massages (oh, you better believe I'll be going back!). All the therapists are licensed here which is why I went when I found even though I live in Irvine. They really care. I feel like a brand new person with a plan of action for this and a big thanks to them!!! Also, nice cozy location across from the mission. Overall, great experience and can't wait to go back! Yep, went back! Kora was amazing! These other reviews are justifiably singing her praises. I'm starting to think everyone here is amazing! Might have to go twice a month at this point

I was certain I'd have nothing but a stellar experience - so much so that I booked a 90 min deep tissue massage for my first time (normally I book 60 min when first trying out someplace as a precautionary measure). Taralai is no doubt on the "pricier" side for a no frills Thai massage ($140 for 90 min), but I was happy to pay a fair price for an exceptional massage. I don't want to name shame my masseuse but I booked with a gal that is repeatedly mentioned in reviews. Super sweet but has no intuition and flow. My massage felt mechanical and awkward - cracking my fingers and toes for example to fill time. She also took an unusually long bathroom break mid massage and I was already not enjoying it so I almost cut it off early. I also asked for no stretching yet she proceeds to put me in uncomfortable positions I eventually had to stop her. Also, I was flabbergasted at the end when paying that the suggested tip is in the range of 40%-60% of the massage. Perhaps if "happy endings" are offered this would only then make sense. I always tip 20% on a standard priced massage so I had to create a custom tip to do so. I have had many massages and this has to be one of the worst experiences I've ever had.
