He told me that I should trim a branch on the Locust tree that was hanging over the driveway. The other large tree had ivy growing up the trunk about 20 feet and it was strangling the tree. A beautiful oak tree in the back yard had a branch that was growing out too long trying to get more sun. He trimmed the branch above to allow more sunshine to reach the branch below. He shortened another branch that was growing into a large pine tree and inhibiting the growth on that side of the tree. I have had my trees looked at every few years for the last twentyfive years and no tree company has ever mentioned any of these things. While we walked he said he had learned all about trees from his father who was an arborist in Paradise his whole life. This young man became an arborist as well. He climbed the oak and did an excellent job trimming the tree while the rest of the crew worked out front using a bucket lift. Everything was cleaned up and hauled away. I was very impressed with the work that they did and would definitely use them as my "tree service."

We now have 2,000 goats/sheep that we take to different properties to eat down the brush to help with land management and fire prevention. During my time here, in addition to the grazing business, I have been cleaning up the ranch by limbing and falling trees, removing the stumps with a stump grinder, removing excessive brush, making new roads, digging trenches, building fences and so much more. Improving the land here has led to me become skilled at operating a skid steer, bull dozer, and a tractor so I have often done work on other properties on the side. All of those machines are great, but they can’t make their way into the average person’s backyard. Recently I bought a mini skid steer so that I will be able to accept jobs at houses that don’t have a way to get a large piece of equipment into their yard without taking apart their fence.
