We hired Ace to come assess 5 very mature cypress trees. We wanted to know if they've reached the end their lifespan or could simply be cleaned up. We were elated to hear David's assessment that the trees still have some years left in them. We hired Ace to come in and clear out years of old growth that had long since died. The end result is wonderful. David and his team exposed the beautiful architecture of our trees and it's been a joy to observe this new feature in our yard. David is very knowledgeable and a true arborist, not simply a tree removal company. We look forward to having him back in two years for another assessment. read more

Dave's crew consisted on one guy for two hours; Dave went elsewhere; then, two more guys showed up to work, then maybe another. The first man did work very hard but as this was included in our allotted time I was not happy there was only one worker. He started work at 0830 and they all left at 3 pm. I had told Dave we could only do $1100 as quoted for 3 hrs $(900) and whatever time was left to equal $1100. They did do an excellent job. Very pleased with that. But the bill was $700 over what was quoted and I never did figure out the reasoning behind it. Each person was very professional and hardworking though and the cleanup was incredible. read more

The owner Dave is a Certified Arborist. I've seen soooo many tress butchered , I wanted an Arborist's input, knowledge and experience. Dave and I spoke on the phone, looked at pictures of the tree, and talked through short and long term goals. The next day Dave came buy to look at the tree. The other company I called was going to send one of the crew, not a arborist, out to do a "drive-by" estimate. The cost, in my opinion, was very fair and reasonable. read more

Dave came out to cut back 3 huge pine trees between my house and my neighbors house. My neighbors hired him to do the job. The 3 pine trees are extremely invasive to my property. The neighbors wanted me to communicate to Dave about my concerns with the trees impact to my property. I actually had hired Dave in 2017 to write a report on the trees. I found working with him was very difficult. When my neighbors hired him I was hoping I would have a different experience. He when show up to the job he was extremely rude, dismissive and extremely unprofessional. His crew did a wonderful job trimming the trees and great cleanup. I saw Ace Tree trimming in the area and stopped and asked if I could get a quote . One of the men came by and checked out the job and indicated Dave would call and set up an appt. When Dave called I had several questions and he kept cutting me off and I thought that was very rude . When I told him I wanted the stumps ground down he tried over and over again to talk me out of it which I found very frustrating since as the customer that's what I wanted . When he came out the price increased and I can understand that since I just gave him the info over the phone and he was friendlier in person than on the phone . Dave and his team did an excellent job removing two trees from our backyard. The trees overhung on 3 different neighbors property and every branch landed where they wanted it. One pine was over 80 feet tall and it took several days of climbing and roping each branch. They worked tirelessly to get it done. In the end, they were meticulous with their care of our fence line, landscaping and irrigation and left the property clean with nicely ground stumps. read more

Although the final tree trimming results were acceptable and I would welcome back his field supervisor (who was very pleasant), I will NEVER EVER recommend this company to anyone as long as Dave owns it. WHY?? Read on: Overall, as we progressed from estimate phase, to actual work phase, and finally, into "pay the bill" phase, Dave's demeanor became progressively unprofessional and rude and I began to realize that full disclosure was not exercised on his part . In the end he made it very clear that I was inconveniencing him when I tried to pay the bill-something I had never encountered before. A few of the many examples of his unprofessional/rude behavior and lack of disclosure include but are not limited to the following: A) During the estimate meeting, Dave & I initially agreed on 5 trees at approximately $200/tree for light trimming. Further discussions took place and he stated that if the price were increased to $300/tree the workers could take more time, do a more thorough job, and work without his onsite direct supervision pointing out each specific branch to trim. To this I agreed, & subsequently received an official quote for $1500 via email. What was a surprise was a request with the quote that a 10% deposit be paid up front, something that was not at all introduced during the onsite estimate meeting. B) When his workers first arrived on site, he pointed out that a few of them could not be trusted to climb trees because they were "clowns." C) Especially disappointing was his treatment of his staff when he showed up near the conclusion of the work. Even though I had agreed to pay more so he didn't have to be onsite to continuously supervise them AND so they could spend more time trimming my trees, he berated them for taking too long while he was away tending to other business. D) When the final bill was presented, it included terms that allowed for 2.5% to be discounted off the final total of $1500 if paid in full within 5 days. On the day after the job was done (on a Saturday), when I tried to use the online link provided by Dave in the final bill email, it only gave me the option to pay the full amount of $1500, not that amount discounted by 2.5%. When I called Dave about this that same day, he stated that no one had ever asked him about that before and did not offer up any alternate solution. When I finally asked if he had one of those Square Credit Card Readers for his cell phone, he said he did but was too busy to take the time to come out to my house to collect on that Saturday and then asked why I couldn't just pay by check? After I reminded him that was never an option, when I offered to drive the 10 minutes to his office and pay up right then, he initially replied very rudely that he was too busy with other work to stop long enough to do that. When I next inquired about his availability over the next 2 days, his tone increased in rudeness, and, as I stated above, he made it very clear that I was inconveniencing him by trying to pay the bill. E) After some strenuous urging on my part, Dave finally agreed to take credit card payment at his office that Saturday but when I asked him to text me his office address, his reply was "NO" and when I asked why, he stated that this was just another task that he was too busy to do right then so i just had to write it down!! In conclusion, my direct message to you, Dave, is this: - Customers are not responsible for the headaches of running your private business so don't take it out on us when things aren't going smoothly for you. - Where repeat business thrives on word of mouth, you can expect none of this from me based on your unprofessional and rude behavior. - If I didn't know better, I'd swear that you were doing everything you could to keep me from taking the 2.5% discount - a discount you failed to inform me of until the final bill showed, a discount that I did not ask for, and a discount that you yourself offered. It felt like a bait & switch... - You appear to have purposely chosen to completely ignore prior negative review comments on Yelp, comments that could have helped you avoid this latest negative experience by another dissatisfied customer. read more

This was the worst customer service I have ever seen. First of all David wouldn't let my fiancé and I even complete our sentences to tell him what we wanted done on our tree...he just wanted to give his opinion first. Then I told him a friend got his tree done by Ace and it was $250 so I wanted to see if he could match that. He said yes but then made me feel bad about it. Don't say yes and then make us feel bad. Educate us on what goes on with the $300 he quoted us. Sir if you see this I hope you learn from this, that you lost our business. All you had to do is listen and communicate with us. First impressions are everything.....his was the worst I have experienced in some time. All he was concerned about was making sure he got paid just to look at our tree and he didn't "want to waste his time". I called after seeing their advertisement in the paper. When I mentioned the ad, Dave said he thought he had stopped running that ad but would honor it anyway. He insisted that he could give me an estimate over the phone if I just provided him with information on what work I needed done. When it was time to schedule the work a week later, he said he actually needed to come to the site to see the job (why he didn't do this in the first place, I don't know). Upon looking at the trees he said he needed to remove some smaller trees to do the work...I have had three other tree trimmers look at this job and nobody said they had to remove additional trees. When I said I didn't want the other trees removed because they provide privacy, Dave became very aggravated and confrontational. I got a bad feeling and said I didn't think it was going to work to have his company do the job. Within a minute I got a text from Dave saying he could do the work without removing the other trees and "lets just get the job done." He was suddenly very friendly and said he'd like to schedule the work. One week later, I contacted him to schedule the work and we set a date and time. The day before, he called me to once again go over the details. After hearing again, for the third time, what I'd like done he told me it was not going to work out and that I needed to find someone else. My job has not changed....this is the same job he bid on and had several conversations about with me. I found Dave to be very edgy, moody, and confrontational. It seems to me that, if you're advertising for business, you should be ready to greet customers in a friendly, professional way. read more

I needed an Arborist, not a gardener. Dave was very professional and quick to respond. One of the greatest challenges I was concerned about was our neighbors 60+ feet tall Leyland Cypress encroaching well over 50% of our small back yard. Conifers present a unique challenge when it comes to pruning and re-shaping them. I have seen so many botched jobs over the past 40 years. Dave and his crew listened to me, understood my concerns and love for this huge tree that provides such a great habitat for so many birds and other indigenous animals. I am thoroughly pleased with the job just completed today by Dave Brown, Jesse (his foreman), and the rest of the crew. Five men worked about 12 hours removing several large trees from my property on a hillside. I am sure that it was not easy to do this job on a slope. I had used this company the previous winter and had given them a five-star rating then. I chose them again because their price was reasonable and because I had a good experience with them last year. They did not disappoint. The crew was polite, pleasant to interact with, and very hard working. On the first day of 8 hours I interacted mainly with Jesse who is delightful. Today the same crew was here for a half day with the addition of Dave. The work went smoothly. I had to leave my home before they finished. I recently had my apple tree cut back, and the work was good, but someone in the business leaves a bad impression. On another day, their truck was parked on my block, and it is a small street. The drivers door was left open, leaving the road impassable. I waited for a short time, then finally tapped my horn a couple of times, to let whoever it was know that cars were waiting. Well, when the driver showed up, he was saying something, and by his body language, it did not appear to be something nice. I will never hire this company again, as either the owner or an employee is very lacking in social skills. read more
