My PCP's diagnosis was cervicalgia with paresthesia of left arm. My symptoms included waves of debilitating pain at my upper left back and aching in chest and arm. I had to resort to several Advil before bed to get a nights sleep. My Doctor suggested physical therapy and directed me to Coastal Wellness and Physical Therapy. There, Kanchan expertly pin pointed the sources of my suffering and explained her plan of rehabilitation clearly and honestly. During my eight weekly sessions I endured expertly applied manual therapy, mechanical traction, and what is termed neuromuscular reeducation. I have had multiple surgeries on both ankles, creating massive amounts of scar tissue. I have had diminished mobility for over eight years. Chronic pain has kept me from attempting even basic stretches. KK has helped my mobility by breaking through some of the scar tissue. When it was painful, KK explained what the plan was and helped me understand why I needed to continue to work toward my goals at home, no matter the discomfort. This is an amazing physical therapy practice. Kanchan has helped me through a range of issues, including recovery from MCL surgery and associated back & muscle problems. I have several chronic pain conditions and I had become very disabled and unable to perform basic daily tasks. I was not able to manage my pain at all. I saw KK for an ongoing muscle spasm in my neck. She was kind enough to fit me in even though she was booked solid. Extremely knowledgeable and happy to explain what's she's doing; she has a level of confidence as she's working on you that puts you at ease. KK did deep muscle work along with movement for my neck, head and shoulders. She gave me a series of exercises to follow from home, including exercises to improve my overall posture. I felt the difference after the first session, and it only took a few more sessions to feel better and then continue the exercises on my own. The muscle release work she did also helped my TMJ, an ongoing problem for 15 years. I highly recommend KK. I feel fortunate to have her here on the coast. read more

This must be the best physical therapy place on the coast. I checked in at Christine Ely PT because I was experiencing violent neck spasms, and an MRI showed that I had advanced arthritis in my neck and shoulders. I was told that PT might relieve the pain, and I picked this place because it's near where I live, and parking is easy. Turned out to be a good choice: they are very well equipped, and KK, the therapist, is friendly and knows what she's doing. When I walked in, I was greeted by the amiable receptionist, Linda, who put me through the formalities of insurance cards. She then introduced KK, a deceptively slight, wiry woman. Although not as blatantly brawny as I had expected, KK turned out to be a very capable therapist and an expert in a wide range of techniques. Of course, she asked me to rate my pain on a scale of 1 to 10. They all ask that question, as the decimal system figures prominently in medical school curricula. I told her that my spasms were excruciating flashes at level 10. They happened at least a dozen times a day. KK started to examine me by poking at my neck with her fingers. She quickly found that a knot had developed in the muscle behind my shoulder. This was the immediate cause of my pain. According to her, it was an unusually hard, large knot. She poked at it some more to start breaking it up, and I realized that despite her junior petite size, KK is strong: she has fingers of steel and can poke really hard. I formed a mental image of her doing pushups on her fingertips, with Linda sitting on her back. Over the course of a few sessions, she worked on my knotted muscles with a variety of techniques. Besides being poked, I was treated to ultrasound, suction cups, kinesiology tape (comes in different colors: ask for black!), and more. I was taught exercises to do at home, and I did them faithfully every morning. In a surprisingly short time, the spasms became less frequent and less severe. The pain was down to a 3 or 4 and, on some days, I got none at all. When you think about it, it's kind of amazing: my bones are basically disintegrating, yet these treatments helped me a lot. So, I heartily recommend that, should you need PT, you look up KK at Christine Ely Physical Therapy. She'll straighten you out for sure. read more

At the first visit, she did some adjustments and had me do some exercises - that afternoon, the pain was gone! I went to see Kanchan for herniated discs and severe low back pain. I had seen five other physical therapists before I found her, all of which had me do exercises that I felt I could have done myself and none helped the pain. When I first started the pain was agonizing, I could hardly walk, and I was scheduled for surgery. Kanchan used techniques that none of the other PTs had used and did an amazing job. My pain got better after each visit and within a few weeks the pain was gone. The best part was that I ended up not having to go through with the surgery. I was so disappointed with the care and service I got at this office. They over charged me for an extra day -- but worst of all was the attention to the injury I had. The PT's suggestion on my second and final visit was to take a pain pill BEFORE my next visit! On my first visit I was not greeted or introduced to my PT, actually until I said something there was no "hello, I'll be right with you". When you go to these places you're already in so much distress and pain that you don't need the people at the business to make it worse! read more

I was so frustrated with total lack of response I received from this office. In two instances through the years when I really required PT and the convenience of them just being a block away from my home. I called their office numerous times to leave a voice mail and received no call backs for services. I was forced to suffer the inconvenience of driving a fair distance from my home as a result where I fortunately received excellent physical therapy. I had no previous history with this business and it remains a mystery as to why they continued in failing to respond to my inquiries for assistance. A good Yelp review requires good business practices, like responding to phone calls. read more
