Joey (Joseph Livelo) was my physical therapist, and he was absolutely amazing in guiding my healing journey. Beyond being highly knowledgeable, personable, and easy-going, Joey takes a wonderfully pragmatic approach to care. He designed a program with exercises that were easy for me to stick to, thoughtfully evolving the routine as I progressed to edge me closer to full recovery. I genuinely looked forward to our weekly sessions! It has now been four months since my last visit, and I still do a set of the exercises Joey gave me every single morning to maintain my physical well-being. Beyond the excellent care from Joey, every single person I interacted with at the West Bay Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation Center was super nice and welcoming. It is very clean, calm, and inviting, which I feel is very important for any type of body work. l went to her with pretty chronic lower back pain. (I do a lot of driving and sitting at my desk which doesn't help the pain.) I find that when you are in constant pain, you learn to live with it, but you feel heavy and weighed down most of the time. After my session with Kristin, I honestly felt like I was floating as I walked down the hall. The pain had lifted and I felt like a new person. I then did my 3 hour commute home, and I had no pain at all getting out of my car. It really was amazing. I highly recommend working with Kristin at Pacific Myofascial Release. Myofascial Release Therapy appealed to me because of its inherent mind-body-spirit approach. Kristin is an earnest, careful and very skillful MFR therapist. She listens, pays careful personal attention to all concerns and keeps me fully involved and informed at all times. I have found the process of healing with MFR to be fascinating, rewarding and in some ways mysterious. In short, it works. I have come to feel that everyone should have access to this health enhancing treatment and feel most fortunate that I have the ongoing privilege of Kristin's excellent care.

Well, seven years later and I'm still going there. He's helped me with my scoliosis, giving me exercises to strengthen my muscles and also keeping me flexible. He also helped my mother in law who at age 88 was showing signs of Parkinson's. After physical therapy sessions with Shah she was able to walk without a shuffle, gain her balance and confidence. She felt so great we took her to NYC at the age of 90. I can't say enough about Body Balance and Beyond! Everyone is friendly from the front desk to the physical therapists. I had years of lower back pain while working a desk job, and in recent years, the pain had moved to my neck. At my first session, Shah quickly determined how my back was curving, and helped me in many ways: 1. Gave me exercises to strengthen weak areas to support the spine. He also recorded me doing the exercises with my phone's camera for later reference (Very helpful!) 2. Told me how to sit correctly, and also the best sleeping positions for my particular curve. He also told me which hand to carry groceries in while walking. 3. Does bodywork on my neck/shoulder area at every appointment. After a handful of sessions, my neck issues are 80% reduced, and I'm hopeful for further improvements. I've learned so much about what my body needs in just a few weeks. Shah is like the Bruce Lee of bodywork. Bruce Lee created his own martial art style (Jeet Kune Do) based on multiple martial arts disciplines. In the same way, Shah draws from many healing modalities including, but not limited to, Schroth, and tailors the sessions for my unique situation. Note, when I first reached out, there weren't any appointments available in the near term, but Blanka said last minute cancellations happen so she'll contact me if something opens up. I am recovering from tendon transfer surgery and it has been a long, difficult process both mentally and physically. At my first appointment, Dr. Kanchan listened to my concerns and my long-term goals and tailored my treatment plan specifically to address my personal needs. She is very clear, fun to talk to during our sessions, and always sends me home with plenty of exercises and clear explanations on how to do them, between appointments. This is such a relief because I am eager to get back to high impact activities like running, pickleball, hiking, and HIIT cycling as soon as possible. She is helping me strengthen my foot, ankle, and leg. She works on loosening the transferred tendon and the scar tissue surrounding the incision. She knows how and when to push me during appointments and when to give me a rest. She is even addressing residual knee pain that may have existed prior to surgery but also may have been exacerbated by the boot I wore for 11 weeks after surgery. If you are planning an upcoming surgery that will require physical therapy, I highly suggest you give them a call now to get on their calendar. It is a small office, which is another part of why I love this practice, so it will take some time to get an appointment. BUT, it is 100% WORTH THE WAIT!! Be patient, you will not regret it.
