My experience over the years has been variable, overall much more positive than not. But my most recent experiences have been truly outstanding. Having read the extensive number of reviews listed below, I wish to express my perspective from my years of experience so that the current quality of this excellent Sea Ranch vacation rental agency can be illuminated. Ocean View Properties has functioned under two distinctly separate ownerships. When my husband and I first discovered Ocean View Properties back in 2009, the woman who created the agency, Dorothy, and her staff, always treated us well enough. However, the quality of the rental homes and the level of cleanliness in the homes we rented was variable -- sometimes good, sometimes less than desirable. But when the new owners, Marianne and Steve, took over Ocean View Properties back in May 2015, we began noticing a dramatic change in quality of housekeeping and customer service immediately. And to this day, having rented an Ocean View Properties home on a monthly basis, I feel compelled to express my heart-felt gratitude for all the amazing improvements that have unfolded under Marianne and Steve's ownership. The quality of homes has increased exponentially. Here's why: though the homes themselves may be the same as before, Marianne and Steve strongly encouraged the homeowners to upgrade appliances, kitchen items, furniture, bedding, windows, screens, etc. These changes made the homes so much more immediately comfortable and livable for all renters, especially folks like us who come to Sea Ranch on a monthly basis and consider it our "other home". Also the level of housekeeping has lifted to a stellar degree. When we check in, the homes are spotless, well stocked with everything we need, and it is just such a pleasure to settle in and live our Sea Ranch life. The staff works so incredibly well as a team. I can feel that they all weave together their unique talents and skills in order to bring the best possible experience to us as renters. So to say I am grateful for this fantastic rental agency for the Sea Ranch homes we rent would truly be an understatement. Thanks to these people and what they provide to my darling husband, my sweet dogs, and me, we truly live life at Sea Ranch as a second home and I wouldn't dream of renting from any other agency in the area (other than Beach Rentals, their sister agency right next door -- also a fabulous Sea Ranch rental agency).

My partner has struggled with Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue for over 20yrs. She is designated disabled. She has fallen ill with something viral that has taken her down for the count. I asked for any reasonable accommodation you can provide in order to move the date..even a slot they normally have a tough time filling. Please. I got the reply that was promising, "... we completely understand that health situations like this are unpredictable. While our standard policy applies, we'll do our best to explore options to help and we recommend travel insurance to help cover unexpected emergencies like this." After asking twice more for future dates, they denied our disability accommodation. We were forced to ask for a refund and lose $900. Not easy on a fixed income..adding to an already difficult time that was supposed to be a special time. We just wanted to move the date. I understand they are running a business and it seems to be a nice place. As long as things don't come up, you are probably fine with them. This is more a message to the disability community and for those that understand life happens. Peace & Love.

Sea Ranch Resort has breathtaking room views of the beach and windswept bluffs overlooking the Pacific ocean waves. They are a smaller resort with ~14 rooms, but they do have interior and exterior event spaces for small weddings or corporate events. I write that upfront as a caveat emptor/grain-of-salt cliche disclaimer. In short, I'm totally looking four or five different gift horses in the mouth. But honesty is the best policy trumps obsequiousness in my book, at least when it comes to writing reviews, and I know my brother would understand, so on with the review. It's so disappointing, but that's probably because I didn't come here until I was an adult. If I had started coming as a child, it would still be as magical as Carmel is to me, even though I now know better. The nature is gorgeous and lush and also sparse and unforgiving. Way fewer large trees grow here than you would expect, but maybe they also merciless cut them down to prevent people's views from being blocked? I don't know. It's just not as green as I expect it to be, but I'm a native Californian, so I love my browns and yellows as well as my greens when it comes to grasses and ground cover more generally, and the coveys of quails that often bathe in the ruts left by car tires delight me every time I see them. Our state birds are so flirtatiously frivolous. It's a wonder they survive at all. The architecture of most of the houses really appeals to me, despite how annoying some of the architectural failures (mostly small) are. The difference between architecture and art is that taking too many risks in architecture can actually kill people, and thankfully, the worst excesses of bad architecture here have to do with poor material choices, so premature rotting, excessive leaking, etc. You know, stuff that architects designing buildings along an unforgiving shoreline are supposed to take into account? Yes, that stuff. I love how far apart the houses are from one another, and that there seems to be no rhyme or reason so their relative siting. The entire area just feels like something out of a 1,200-page romance novel set in medieval times or the setting for an RGP video game that I would play too much of as an early teenager or like the entirety of England seemed to me for most of my semi-voracious-reader childhood. It's darkish and spooky and foggy--but not as foggy as you think--and flat. It's really flat. And it's really big. Getting here from San Francisco is a real chore. I've driven to and from by myself at almost all times of the day except the middle of the night. If you're doing that, make sure you're very well rested, and don't speed. Those curves are just killer. Make sure you bring a lot of books. The last time I was here, I believe there was wifi, but I didn't use it, because this is the kind of place you come to escape the real world. Why would you want to bring the Internet along with you? The northern part feels far homier than the southern part. I don't know why. It might be less crowded. Or maybe it's the pool. But there might be another pool that I've never been to. Oh, and the architecture style is its own kind of thing in my mind. So when I see something that looks like it's trying to be a cheap knockoff of Sea Ranch's worn woodsiness, I call it a "Sea Ranch ____." So, for example, I refer to this Starbucks near my parents' house (https://www.yelp.com/biz/starbucks-coffee-whittier-6) as Sea Ranch Starbucks. I don't think I'd ever fork over the cash to stay here by myself or to host others, but I definitely do enjoy being here when I'm invited, even though the trip to and from here are the parts of Sea Ranch I most dread.

We tried a…read moredifferent one , one year, and regretted it, and went right back to our tried and true Beach Rentals. These Folks bend over backwards for you. They go the extra mile to make sure you are taken care of. If we are running late, they make special arrangements for the house key, and make sure the hot tub is heating up. We have found over the years that it is actually cost effective and far more rewarding to rent a home in Sea Ranch than stay in a Hotel or Inn on the Coast. They only take checks or cash no credit cards. A ROMANTIC GETAWAY MUST! [A cautionary tale: if you are going to enjoy the hot tub late at night, make sure one of the doors is unlocked, or you have the key with you. We did not: and the only window open was on the second floor bathroom - a skinny one. So, my hunny put the teak bench on it's end, hoisted himself into that tiny crevice and bam down to the floor he goes. After he visited a black widow spider on his way through, but he was fine, I think the spider was to busy trying to figure out what was going on! The rest is history... just don't forget to take care of the door before your legs turn to rubber in the hot tub!]

Joel has been consistently professional, knowledgeable, helpful, proactive, and easy to get a hold of. My experience with him has been like night and day as compared to my experience with the other related companies this is especially impressive given that my rental was at the high end of the market at a time when the Market is overfilled with rentals in my range, and during a period in which it was taking much longer to get vacanc is filled. Even though Veilkko Provided this service on a fixed rate basis, they continued to provide the same high level of service even though it took much longer to fill the apartment than we had anticipated. Their prices were lower than their competition, Not only for the basic services but also for the photography package.  This company, Veikko,  is smaller than the competition, But this is an advantage because you get personalized service and a much quicker response. There is no comparison in my mind after having had experience with all three of the major Property Management companies in this town. Veikko is by far the BEST.
