In a comparison bid against several firms, Cygnus provided a detailed estimate which was very competitive. Eric, owner of Cygnus, was very easy to work with. He worked closely with us ( the Sellers), two Realtors, the Buyers, the Home Inspector, and Structural Engineer to ensure that the necessary repairs to our home were completed to the satisfaction of all. The office manager was very efficient and easy to work with. The Cygnus crew showed up each day exactly when they said would appear. Eric and his team took the time to explain to me exactly what they were doing and why it was being done in that manner. They were neat, every day they picked up whatever "trash" there was and ensured that at the end of the job the work site was clean. The work under the control of Cygnus was completed slightly ahead of schedule. It was very important not to exceed the schedule as this would impact the closing date. The Cygnus crew were extremely professional in the work manner and in their appearance. These are folks you would not object to working on your home when your young children (or your mother) was around. While they were working on my house, I found out they built a deck for my next door neighbors house. My neighbors are very pleased with the deck. Their deck looked good to me. If you want it done right, with pleasant folks doing the work, I recommend Cygnus Construction.

And when he put my chair railing back up, he left a gaping hole in the wall. And the floor molding at the corner didn't even come together correctly. I had to pay someone to come in and fix the wall and remove and put up correctly the lower molding But the worst part was I was to have stainable wood for my beam wrap. When I called his lumber company they said to use fir or cedar. Eric used yellow pine. I was told it is the cheapest wood by far. I'm sure putting money in Eric's pocket using it rather than a recommended wood. My contract called for stainable wood. Yellow pine has to be completely sanded or pre- conditioned before it can be stained. I did not know this because Eric never mentioned he used yellow pine nor did he say that I had to treat it before I could stain it. So I ended up with a painted beam- not a stained one. Stay clear of this company or plan on spending more money when he's done and plan on doing a lot of cleaning!

I had to contact them on a monthly basis for an update. I understand supplier issues and weather delays but communication is key. There was no communication unless I initiated it. We started the process in November. The project did not start until April. The materials were to be unloaded on our paved driveway. Instead it was unloaded on our freshly sodded and seeded grass. Our contract included new shutters. The old shutters were put back on the house. This was brought to Bill's attention during the process. The shutters were never ordered. We waited another 3 weeks. The wrong size was ordered. Another 3 weeks for replacements to be delivered. The outside light was not working when the crew left after the first visit. We waited a week for someone to fix this. Before the job was completed, Bill sent a job completed letter to our insurance company. We were asked multiple times by Revival for final payment before the job was completed. I'm happy with the final project. The crew did good work. However, due to the process, I would not recommend.

From the beginning, I made it very clear that I wanted 100% communication and no misunderstandings. The salesperson assured me the entire project (windows, gutters, shutters, etc.) would take about 2-3 months. I was aware I was paying above average, but I trusted their reputation. That turned out to be a mistake. The problems started right away. I assumed measurements were taken during the initial visit, but they weren't. I had to take time off work for another appointment, and the person they sent was in and out in about 20 minutes. After that, communication completely broke down. I had to repeatedly call just to get updates. Months went by with no clear timeline for installation. Every time I spoke to someone, I got a different answer. The office staff seemed completely disorganized, and emails were confusing or contradicted each other. Eventually, I spoke with managers, and even they admitted there were mistakes and miscommunication. But nothing was actually resolved. When installation finally happened, it was poorly handled. They sent only one person to install gutters, which was inefficient and unprofessional. To make matters worse, they somehow retained my payment information and charged me without my authorization, which is extremely concerning. At one point, a manager apologized but then started mentioning that if I canceled, I could be legally responsible. That is when I completely lost confidence. It felt more like a threat than an attempt to resolve the situation--especially considering they had not fulfilled their obligations despite receiving a large deposit. They later came out to take pictures and "check" the work, but it felt like they were trying to protect themselves rather than fix the issues. I have lost an unbelievable amount of time dealing with this--taking off work, making calls, and sending emails. To this day, I still have an issue with one of the windows. I reached out again and received a response that made no sense, and I still have no real answer. Also, their "lifetime warranty" is not even through them--it's through a third party, which was never clearly explained upfront. Overall, this has been an exhausting and frustrating experience. I strongly recommend being very cautious before choosing this company and considering other options. Look for the response towards any complaints they're completely generic. They don't even give at least any kind of explanation as to why of things occurred. I would take my business elsewhere. You're gonna get robbed. They're charge you an astronomical price for something that anybody else could've done much cheaper.

All the workers we dealt with were pleasant and relatively competent. The reason I would not recommend Coastal Contracting is primarily due to the lack of follow through with their one year warranty on materials. Our addition has been completed for about 9 months at this point, and we have had 3 distinct issues come up. Twice the HVAC has failed, and once the shower plumbing was malfunctioning. The first time the HVAC failed was right before the ice storm of early 2026, and we called the installing company to arrange service. They came out promptly and fixed the HVAC (faulty part, but we now had heat!) but we were told that we had to pay out of pocket for repairs since we did not first contact Coastal in writing. Ok. It then failed a second time right before the heat wave of July 4th weekend, so we contacted Coastal. We did get a personal email back after business hours saying that they would contact us after the weekend, which after 2 business days we have not heard from them. Again we did some repairs on our own. The plumbing issue happened between the two HVAC issues, so I was wise to submit my request for service in writing and followed up with a phone call, during which I was assured I would hear back...which I never did. It is just disappointing. Also disappointing were the many mis-ordered parts and vanity that delayed our project, the cut corners that we had to be vigilant about inspecting, and the surprise few thousand dollar increase in fee for a plumbing issue they did not see when they were quoting us. They admitted they didn't look under the house as they should have (I thought we were paying for their expertise?), but assured us that we could be happy that we were still getting a good deal. Maybe these hiccups and lack of communication after they get their check are all normal on a project of this size-I don't have any other point of comparison.

In addition, Kwan came to the rescue when one of my neighbors reported that water was "gushing" out of backyard due to a hose that had been left on for weeks. Soooo grateful that they went immediately to investigate the problem and stopped it before it became a disaster.
