I chose this company based on their online reviews, but after my experience, I seriously question how accurate those reviews are. From the beginning, I made it very clear that I wanted 100% communication and no misunderstandings. The salesperson assured me the entire project (windows, gutters, shutters, etc.) would take about 2-3 months. I was aware I was paying above average, but I trusted their reputation. That turned out to be a mistake. The problems started right away. I assumed measurements were taken during the initial visit, but they weren't. I had to take time off work for another appointment, and the person they sent was in and out in about 20 minutes. After that, communication completely broke down. I had to repeatedly call just to get updates. Months went by with no clear timeline for installation. Every time I spoke to someone, I got a different answer. The office staff seemed completely disorganized, and emails were confusing or contradicted each other. Eventually, I spoke with managers, and even they admitted there were mistakes and miscommunication. But nothing was actually resolved. When installation finally happened, it was poorly handled. They sent only one person to install gutters, which was inefficient and unprofessional. To make matters worse, they somehow retained my payment information and charged me without my authorization, which is extremely concerning. At one point, a manager apologized but then started mentioning that if I canceled, I could be legally responsible. That is when I completely lost confidence. It felt more like a threat than an attempt to resolve the situation--especially considering they had not fulfilled their obligations despite receiving a large deposit. They later came out to take pictures and "check" the work, but it felt like they were trying to protect themselves rather than fix the issues. I have lost an unbelievable amount of time dealing with this--taking off work, making calls, and sending emails. To this day, I still have an issue with one of the windows. I reached out again and received a response that made no sense, and I still have no real answer. Also, their "lifetime warranty" is not even through them--it's through a third party, which was never clearly explained upfront. Overall, this has been an exhausting and frustrating experience. I strongly recommend being very cautious before choosing this company and considering other options. Look for the response towards any complaints they're completely generic. They don't even give at least any kind of explanation as to why of things occurred. I would take my business elsewhere. You're gonna get robbed. They're charge you an astronomical price for something that anybody else could've done much cheaper. read more

I want to update my review concerning Smallwood Renovation, Keith the owner of Smallwood Renovation called me yesterday after viewing my concerns about his lack of response on Yelp. Keith could not have been nicer and was very apologetic with their delayed response to a few issues we had concerning the deck they had built for us. He immediately requested that a crew would be out this morning to address everything and the crew showed up and corrected everything and then some. Sometimes customer service is lacking in this country right now, but not with Smallwood Renovation if it isn't right they will do everything in their power to make it right. They never disappeared for days at a time and always showed up when they said they were going to. We have had alot of work to our home in the past 44 years. Smallwood is the most professional firm we have used. Smallwood Renovations was an amazing company to rebuild our deck with Trex. Elijah, Tony and Kenny were cognizant of details. Elijah would aways ask us if we had any questions. The guys would always clean up before they left each day. They provided above exceptional work ethics. Our original deck was in bad shape and not to code so they kept us informed what needed to be done. The new deck is now sturdy, safe and beautiful. Poor communication/ borderline criminal behavior, read the fine print ( if it is there) if you decide to cancel the project 4-5 months before they are even scheduled to do the job, parts/supplies were not even ordered, and you haven't even had a pre-construction meeting. They will keep 25% of the total cost. So if the job is going to cost $ 14,000 and you have to give a $3900 deposit they keep $3500 , FOR DOING ABSOLUTLY NOTHING! BEWARE read more

I love my new deck and the company that built it, they came ahead of schedule which was great. The builders worked under intense heat but got the work done in less than 2 weeks and all were friendly yet very respectful of my property and my dogs. Smallwood has just completed replacing our deck and adding a pergola. I highly recommend them. From my first call to them, which was very professionally handled, to the completion of the job, they were top notch. The process of getting county and HOA approval went very quickly and we were pleasantly surprised when the job was started much sooner than we had anticipated. The crew that worked on our job were skilled, hard working and just pleasant young men. And Danny, the foreman, is a true craftsman. It was apparent throughout the process that structurally, it was being done right. The only possible complaint would be some difficulty in turning our design wishes into drawings that depicted exactly what we wanted. However, a couple of conversations between my wife and Danny resulted in exactly what we wanted. I would not hesitate to recommend Smallwood. Smallwood removed and installed new insulated siding. The result looks great. We really liked the workers they were curious and professional. We only had two minor problems. One they did not take good care of my lighting fixtures which I wanted to reuse. The lights were just left on the ground for two weeks and some of the smaller hardware went missing also some of the fixtures were not wired correctly. The other problem was that the pounding on the studs both when removing the siding and installing the new siding created nail pops on the side walls and some cracks near wallboard tape. Both issues were left to us to deal with. We would still recommend Smallwood to anyone having renovations done. read more

We selected Smallwood Renovations to build our Trex deck on our new home after talking with Hannah at a home show. The deck looks fantastic, and the construction is first rate. The crew was professional and friendly, and they were always willing to answer any questions I had about the build. The weather wasn't very cooperative but the crew worked diligently to complete the deck, even working in the rain when safety permitted! You don't see that very often. I've always felt that the best way to tell if a customer was really happy with a company is to ask if they would use that same company for another project. After receiving several quotes I called Smallwood Renovations. They did a great job, explaining their product and answered all my questions. I don't like a run around, and they were straight and to the point. Gave an estimate on the spot and billed me the same at the end of the job. My roof looks great and I am going to have them do my deck and siding. They are not the cheapest, but I believe that you get mostly what you pay for. Keith Smallwood was on top of everything. He kept in touch with project start dates and continued to keep me informed during the work on my roof. When the project was done, he met with me and reviewed the work, asking if there were any concerns or questions. Didn't have anything to say as the work looked great.
