She has been an essential person in getting me back on track post-baby as well as addressing my continuing health concerns. She assisted me in getting diagnosed (finally) with POTS, helped me optimize my fertility to get pregnant again, and walked with me through my miscarriages. But not Dr Weaver, she has taken this epidemic very seriously and was not only super clean but she was also very detailed orientated. After filling out the forms, she asked so many questions and carefully listened to everything i had to say. After that, she adjusted my son and gave AMAZING advise as to how I can help ease his pain from the stretches I needed to do in his mouth. This is really a 10 star review, since we used both Jennifer's doula and chiropractic services ( 5…read morestars for each). My husband and I found Jennifer in the summer of 2016 when we started researching doula's. Finding a doula is such a personal experience and is definitely not one size fits all, so here's a little background info on us and what we were looking for: I little background on us: I was in a car accident at 13 years old, leaving me often times bedridden for days at a time and would sometimes need to miss school due to severe cervical and lumbar back pain. By the time I graduated high school my back pain was manageable. Later, in college I persued my passion in nursing and graduated in 05' with my BSN ( worked 5 years in cardiology and for the last 7 years have worked in labor and delivery). While this is my passion, it has also NOT been so great for my chronic back pain. During pregnancy, my back pain would revisit me quite regularly toward the later half of my second trimester up until my delivery.... about my husband, he's an anesthesiologist (AKA "epidural man") who is not entirely on board with the doula idea ( he may refer to them as granola quaks). While he was open to the idea of a doula, he didn't want anyone taking his place during the birthing process. As far as my ideal birth....I needed someone with a strong working knowledge of back pain management. I wanted an unmedicated birth, but haven't always resonated with hypnobirth, hypnobabies or Bradley.... after all, "pressure waves" are really CONTRACTIONS, "insert safe word______" is really PAIN and what the heck is "orange hypno anesthesia?"..... you get the idea.... so back to Jennifer: When we first met Jennifer (in my second trimester), she came to our house and did a full interview on what our expectations were for the birthing process. We were fully unfiltered (yes, granola quak was mentioned) with her (which she found humorous), and shared with her some good and bad first hand experiences we have both had as obstetric healthcare workers. She took absolutely no offense to anything and told us that she was open to whatever we wanted, since really the birthing experience is "your experience" and not about her (****** HIRED*****). As far as her chiropractic skills go.... her hands are more magical than David Copperfield's. I encountered several episodes of back and pelvic pain while pregnant. I had her cel phone number, so I could literally text her "I need to see you now (!!!)," and she'd manage to squeeze me in within a few hours. I would walk into her office feeling like a train wreck and walk out of her office feeling like a miracle just took place.... I defiantly could not have survived pregnancy without her. Lastly...... the moment you yelpers have all been waiting for... the birthing experience..... (background: this is my first baby/ non complicated, full term pregnancy)..... I was in prodromal labor for 5 day and nearly lost my marbles. Jennifer was so encouraging and an invaluable resource for several different things that I could try to help get labor going. Finally when my labor became real, I text her and she came to my house at lightning speed. She helped me labor at home for a few hours before I made it into the hospital (arrived to the hospital at 12:30 pm, was 6cm). She was very intuitive and spot on for the most part during my labor/delivery. She rubbed my back during labor, did counter sacral pressure and helped me get into positions favorable for labor (this alone was worth the doula fees..... trust me). When my labor became intense (8-ish cm), she pulled out the "Bradley" on me and I gave it a shot but became annoyed with it (personal preference). At that point I told her I would prefer silence, which she took zero offense to. Just having her silently stand by my side was what I needed. She really does have an amazing, empowering, earthly mama silent energy to her that helped fuel my labor. When I finally hit 10cm, I was ready to throw the towel in and requested the epidural. She very lightly reminded me that if I started pushing the pain would go away. Had she not been there I would have for sure went for the epidural..... I started pushing with her (30 minutes total) and by 4:30pm my baby was born (clarification: 100% unmedicated/ no pitocin, no epidural, no IV pain meds). So in summery, yes hire Jennifer. She was a wonderful set of hands that helped ease my chronic back pain both during pregnancy and labor. My husband was also grateful that she was there during labor and didn't feel like she was taking his place. She was amazing during my pregnancy and I still do see her periodically for adjustments. I have been going to Dr. Amber Werner at Angell Chiropractic for just over 2 months and have…read morenoticed a huge difference already!! I've always had back issues, my spine always out of wack and my head significantly forward and out of line... but little did I know that my TERRIBLE allergies were also a product of poor posture and bad alignment. After only two visits, my allergies improved pretty much entirely. I was going from sneezing 6-7 times a day to MAYBE once daily, and can tell that my sinuses have cleared drastically as well. Dr. Werner also ends each of my visits by massaging my sinuses since she is aware of my allergy issues. Aside from the allergies, my range of motion when I turn my head side to side is way better, and it no longer hurts to check my blind spot when driving! A poster of Thomas Edison's quote, "The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease" hangs in the lobby with the relaxing smell of a diffuser, really inspiring you to take good, natural care of your body. They are a great practice for the whole family including new-born babies. My appointment a few weeks ago was right after a 3 or 5 day old baby!! Dr. Werner has so much knowledge on the development of the spine from birth to grown adults and can assist with issues at any age. 5 stars all the way! I can't wait to see where (and how) I stand in a year!
