The GPS showed no gas stations for 40 miles. We took a chance and drove down the scenic road to get to this place from the main highway when we saw the sign that also indicated they had fuel! We arrived and found our angel! In the gift shop! We were able to fuel up in the super old school pump which I didn't take a picture of! She was even closing early to go to a funeral but waited for us! We can not thank you enough! I have never run out of gas since I started driving as a teen and I am 53! and we technically didn't but if she had closed just a second earlier we would have been stuck! The restrooms are also nice! Thank you again for helping us out! We really appreciate it! I can't speak for the RV park itself but the area is beautiful and the park looks well kept.

A few proteins. Lobster pasta tasted burnt! No lobster in either of our scoops. A 1x1" piece of filet. Ham was dry. EVERYTHING tasted as if prepared for 11 am sitting. We chose the 3rd sitting at 2:30. Nothing was fresh, just gluey or dried out food. DO BETTER FOR $75 Per person.

I try to regularly pop into the South Eden Plantation, especially in the fall and on one of their live music nights. The wine menu is extensive and all available by the glass, which may make the decision-making process more difficult, but you'll always end up with a good wine. I eventually made up my mind with the old vine zinfandel followed by a glass of sangria, paired with the delicious cheese platter. With those hard decisions over, I could sit back, sip on my wine, and listen to some music, while the cicadas played their own music in the trees. It is always a pleasant experience at the Cream of the Crop Cafe and I can't wait to visit again for some more front porch sitting.

They recently in the past 6 months reopened to the public after an extensive reconstruction and remodal. They did a fantastic job keeping the "Old Florida" charm as well as upgrading to more modern amenities. I could not be more pleased by the friendliness and knowledge of the staff running the El Governor. They were super awesome the entire stay and went out of their way to anwser any questions we had or make recommendations for us. They even noticed that the rate we paid online was higher than the special they were running and adjusted our bill accordingly. It's always nice to get money back. The updated rooms were very clean and inviting. I love the fact that you can walk in the front door of the room and walk out the back to your own private balcony. Did I mention all rooms have a balcony facing the beach and gulf? That's awesome! Also every room sports a kitchenette with a range/oven, sink, microwave, full size refrigerator, Kurig, and is stocked with everything you need to cook (dishes, pots & pans, and utinsels). The room we were in had 2 full size beds that were very comfortable. The television in the room has a lot of channels and you are able to use mobile mode to stream your favorite movies and shows. The hotel amenities include a nice new heated pool, small splash pad, gazebo with swings and chairs, a new bar area (to be open soon), and it's right on the beach with access. There is even a gift shop with souvenirs, snacks, wine, beer, and even a small selection of liquor. Across from the hotel is an RV park for guests who enjoy bringing their RVs down for a visit. I will warn you about the parking; it can be a little tricky as it's tight. This past weekend the hotel was packed out and it was difficult getting a space in front of the hotel. There is overflow parking across the street in front of the RV lot if the parking lot does get filled up; or you have a larger vehicle. We enjoyed our visit so much that I'm planning another visit in the next couple of months; once it's warmer outside.

Bedbugs aside, this place is disappointing to say the least. The website states "luxury vacation". This place has ZERO luxury. It is best described as rustic camping on the beach on an island. No restaurants, no bars, barely any staff, FILTHY rooms! (After we were reassigned a new bungalow, I spent 8 hours cleaning it.) The owner asked why we stayed if our experience was so bad. Let's remember that we are on an Island!!! We took a plane, and then It took us 6 hours to get there by boat! We don't have a car, and we don't have anywhere else to go! We didn't have a lot of options being part of a group. Also worth noting, the bungalow that we were reassigned to didn't even have running water in one of the bathrooms. We were told that this is a common problem on the island and nothing can be done! So we all had to share one small bathroom!!! For $850 night, we expected running water and clean rooms. After a 4 week battle we were refunded half of our money. That means the other half of our money went to pay for a filthy bungalow and one non usable master bathroom. So if you want a rustic beach vacation with no amenities, little staff, a dirty rental, and bedbugs, then this is the vacation spot for you! Just remember to bring your own cleaning supplies!

When my daughter got there the key that was left for her didn't work. She spent 45 minutes out in the rain trying to contact somebody because everybody was gone, she finally called the sheriffs department to try and find out the owner's name and he told her to try reaching out on Facebook messenger. So she called on Facebook messenger someone answered and they gave her the emergency code to the side door so she could finally get in. All the remotes don't work on the TVs, there's a cable screwed into the back of them, but they only have antenna. Which is fine because it's a camping type experience but at least all the remotes should work so you can at least watch something when you're laying in bed at night. Dishwasher was there but never installed or hooked up and it's not mounted so when you open the door it almost falls out on you. And good luck getting a hold of anybody on the emergency line. The place could burn down and they wouldn't know till the next day. The noise cut off there is midnight so if you're trying to go to sleep at 10 PM, good luck because they allow everyone there to continue to make noise until midnight including loud music with high base, and they're allowed to ride their quads, and four wheelers around until midnight, shining their headlights into your cabin. On a high note, the property was clean. All the slides have been fixed in the kids area, but they allow people to blast their music really loud overshadowing anybody else's music, including loud music with inappropriate lyrics and language for the kids area. There was nobody walking around, asking them to change the music or turn it down to be considerate for others you just had to deal with it. For $1000 for two nights it was really unacceptable for the price.

Management has no backbone to ask a few bad apples to be respectful. Pros: Truly none Cons: Side by side trail riding took place the same weekend we were diving and staying at their campground. Management allowed a few thugs to play vulgar and explicit rap music at the highest possible volume. I counted 5 large speakers on one machine, which rattled our windows. Many campers complained about this. Nothing was done after notifying MGMT. No one wants to hear this all day and until midnight. The general rules say quiet hours are 10pm. Campground rules say midnight. When I notified MGMT of the issue they sent me a screenshot saying quiet hour don't start until midnight. Great response! It's 9pm and we're exhausted as I wrote this review, but you can't go to sleep because the music overpowers any noise cancelling machine you have. Campsites are not kept up or cleaned between campers. So much trash on our site when we arrived. Look at the picture. It's 9pm and the thugs are blasting rap music with every other word being a curse word. I don't want my children exposed to this. The place is so run down. True junk everywhere. The space beside the dive shop could be a junk yard. Piers falling through at the water. Trash floating in the water. Water clarity was extremely horrible. I've dove more clear waters in rock quarries than here. The algae is unreal. We are leaving early and cutting our trip short. Peace a quiet camping and diving turned into a rap concert with some of Florida's finest. I will be filing a dispute with my credit card company and receiving a refund. I should have adhered to all of the warning from fellow reviewers before booking our stay.

There is a sweets suite that has granola bars, popcorn, soda, oranges and apples, goldfish, an ice and water machine, espresso machine (that also makes hot cocoa), and ice cream bars! No need to pack extra snacks for your little ones on this trip! The rooms are large and the balconies have a gorgeous view of the bluest turquoise waters- it reminded me of being in the islands! The turndown service brings you fresh homemade cookies every night (so don't use your DND!). The staff onsite are super accommodating, the drinks at the bar are delicious, and the food is good as well. The pool drinks are more expensive if you go to the beach club next door. The pool area has a huge sunscreen dispenser (never seen one of these), ice water, fire pits (free to use). There is a tiny gym off the lobby (open 24/7). It has one treadmill, one elliptical, free weights, one bench, on pulley system and a Lululemon mirror thing. No one seemed to use it, so that was nice. The beach is powdered sugar soft a the ocean is clear and calm. It was an OASIS! The only surprise is that there isn't any drink service. Luckily the pool bar wasn't too far away. There is a free trolley you can take to other pools like the Watercolor Club (for kids), and other locations. There are some eateries within walking distance (however not a ton). The whole town is walkable and bike friendly. If you're a runner, there's a paved walkway that goes alongside the main road for miles and miles. I stuck to the trails behind the houses and loved it! It was secluded and woodsy, and yet I still saw houses so it didn't feel unsafe. This was probably one of the best vacations I've been on- it felt foreign but was stateside. Everyone enjoyed it- myself, my husband, our toddler, and my older in-laws. It's worth every penny! And bonus: the AC works amazingly! You can have a cold room and the ceiling fan makes it even better! The housekeeping was also phenomenal! Everyone was friendly and did such a great job! They gave us more shampoo, etc without us even having to ask. My only cons- I wish the free bike rental had helmets. I don't trust drivers when I have a little one to take care of, and the pool pump was loud so we couldn't really hear the ocean from the balcony, but not a deal killer.
