I experienced a problem with my thermostat in my home a (no power to the unit), after having done the DIY troubleshooting (Breaker and GFI check) I was at my wits end. I did what I always do and checked YELP for reputable electricians in my area. I called and left a message with SV Electric. James called me back and after explaining my issue he suggested I contact an HVAC company since my issue related to air and heating, However prior to terminating the conversation he added that it sounded like a fuse issue since the thermostat ran on low voltage, he suggested I check that prior to having someone come out, for safety he added that I should cut the power prior to replacing the fuse if it was blown. Sure enough that was the issue and I resolved it in 15 minutes. This type of service is a throwback to eons ago when the customer came first and people took the time to help a customer even if they got no financial benefit from the transaction. No question that if I ever have any need for a electrician they will be my go to!!!!!!!

Polo gave a competitive quote; worked thru several complications and design iterations, incorporating both some incremental upgrades I requested such as an additional conduit line for future low-voltage needs, and working within the tight physical constraints and limited upgrade options of the existing panel, exploring a few alternatives with both PG&E and the original equipment manufacturer to get to a solution that worked for the property, the utility, and the city. Once we finalized the details, Polo & his team took care of the work very quickly and professionally. There were no surprises during the job; and he provided tight quality control on his team, redoing a few things that almost certainly would have passed inspection but which were not to his liking. And - as someone who has done more than my share of electrical projects in the past - its very clear that he takes pride in his work: he used flex conduit only in a few very small areas, doing very clean EMT conduit bends just about everywhere else. Coastwide Electric is as good as it gets when it comes to electrical work. As mentioned in the other reviews, Mickey and his crew are professional and great at what they do. I was very impressed with how prompt he was, arriving exactly on time when he said he would or earlier. I can't tell you how many times I have called someone out to my house and they never arrive on time or show up some time between 8 and 5. Mickey knows his customers time is just as important as his is. It's so rare and I really appreciate it. Mickey replaced a panel on my home, installed recessed lighting, installed new outlets and ran several electrical runs. He even checked and fixed a problem area in one of my rooms and didn't even charge me for that. He submitted my permit application to the city the same day I hired him and he even came out on a Saturday to give me a bid. To say Mickey is fantastic is not an overstatement. He is a throwback to a time when people didn't try to squeeze every dollar out of their customers. Mickey is honest...his bid was incredibly fair and his work was impeccable. He stayed on site the entire time, he coordinated everything with PG&E and he kept me informed every step of the way. I couldn't ask for a better experience and I always recommend Coastwide Electric to everyone I know that needs electrical work. I just wish everyone else I called out to work on my home could be just like him. Mikey and Coastwide Electric are true Pros, call them first and last. I had an issue I initially thought was related to a GFCI problem that became clear it was more extensive and needed a specialist. After reaching out to several Electricians that couldn't see me for 2-4 weeks, Mikey saved the day. He squeezed me in the next day and spent two hours troubleshooting before determining the job was going to be no quick fix. Two days later he was out with the crew and discovered some old wiring in my walls had burnt up. His team fixed the issue and split the circuit into two (split the bathrooms off from the bedrooms). In addition I had them install power to three ceiling fans and an attic fan. Mikey's team did a great job protecting my home, cleaning up, and getting the job done at a high level and a reasonable price. Mikey will be the first person I call should I have electrical issues in the future. read more

Disclosure: I rarely leave reviews and have only done them when service is excellent and or extremely poor. Issue: transformer blew out on us (pg&e fixed) and that caused some other issues on top of having no hot water. We've been meaning to get a quote for an electrical panel since last year but clearly we procrastinated and the blow out just forced us to address it. I called a total of 5 electricians (in one day), 3 of them never returned my call, 1 never showed up, and I came across this company at 4pm on Tuesday. Mickey picked up, asked for my address and actually showed up!! He's experienced, knew what to look for, fixed the problem and will be providing a quote to fix the bigger issue. Jeff was an amazing resource for us when selecting a solar system. He helped us research our billing history with PG&E to accurately compute our usage and then figure out a system that would meet our needs. Through the entire process he was very responsive every time we wanted to reach him to answer questions. Even after the installation he was careful to thoroughly explain our new system to us. And still after that he would regularly check in with us to see how we were managing. We couldn't have asked for more support. I won't tell you how much money I wasted with extremely expensive furnace repairs because the 'electrician' that first came out didn't properly diagnose the problem. Then he didn't return my phone calls. At wits end I turned to Yelp. There was one old review for RJ Electric but it resonated and I trusted my gut. I hit the jackpot! I called RJ Electric that evening [it might have been a Sunday night?] figuring I would leave a message. Sam not only answered but scheduled my appointment for the very next morning after explaining the charges [flat rate unless it required major work]. Still to show up the very next morning was fabulous. They arrived on time too! I gave him a quick synopsis [and my tale of woe] and he immediately checked the pane, found the problem and repaired it. He also checked the integrity of other circuits plus and the wiring to the furnace, asking relevant questions. Because the misdiagnosis fried the computer part of the furnace, it again had to be replaced and I was charged another exorbitant service charge plus the part. I would have saved hundreds of dollars had I called RJ Electric first AND taken his recommendation for an a/c repair professional.In fact a 5 star recommendation is not enough for RJ Electric. In addition to being a very competent and personable businessman, Sam is a wonderful resource. I highly recommend RJ Electric.

David was not only very professional in his work, but was also very warm, down -to-earth, and non-intimidating to speak with. He addressed all my concerns. He even tried assisting me with correcting possible culprits over the phone. This was unheard of for me. I have never interfaced with any professional before who tried to help you over the phone for free! But David did. And I am truly thankful for that kindness. Electrical testing was now required to locate, repair and restore functionality. While here, he quickly got to work examining all the outlets and testing the panel. I left him to his work. The problem was discovered quickly, and he showed me why the power was not coming on. Fortunately, he had available with him the replacement part I needed which saved a trip to pick up the part. Worked like a charm! After 4 days of no power in the garage, I am truly a very happy camper! David verified that power was restored to an outdoor outlet that had stopped working as a result of the outage, as well as my alarm system. He offered great advice for things to be on the lookout for that could overload the system and trigger another outage. I will share my amazing experience with anyone I discover who need electrical work done. His services are also very reasonably priced. One of my friends has already declared JR Electric as their "Go To" for any future electrical needs. David and crew at JR Electric will always be mine.
