We have had an Enphase solar installation for 10 years now, which has always worked beautifully…read more However, due to regular PG&E outages in our area (Fremont, CA), we decided to add a backup battery to the system. After careful research, we chose Highlight Solar (HS) to handle this installation. We chose the Franklin battery, and Highlight Solar came out to handle the installation in Nov 2025. Sadly, we had some serious issues with the functionality of our solar infrastructure, after the Franklin equipment was installed... the Enphase solar monitoring device (called Envoy) started having trouble communicating with the panels, and therefore would disable them. HS made a couple of different attempts to fix this issue (which was delayed when they went on vacation for a month), so I had to keep cycling the breaker for the panels every morning to get the system working for another day. Fortunately, they were persistent in pursuing the issue, and after returning from vacation in late January, Samir came out and spent a couple of hours on the phone with Enphase support, who suggested a possible solution for this issue. HS then had someone come out to implement Enphase's suggestion, and now my system is working solidly and reliably (Feb 2026). I'm glad HS didn't just give up on us; I'm sure they were just as frustrated as we were by this situation. We certainly didn't expect this to take three months to resolve, but it is working now.

Our inspection, and final handoff were handled by Samir, who answered even more questions, and made sure we were fully set up. From end to end we had a great experience with Highlight Solar and will recommend them as they were to us. Pro tips: If you get a battery you will need to store it until it is installed. Your solar data might not show up on the app for 24-48 hours after installation...don't panic, it will show up eventually and you will see the money you are not spending with PG&E.

But even before that, David our site survey tech, gave us the sense that all would proceed well, as he collected necessary data by drone, and made a favorable first impression with his personable approach. I spoke with many contractors, and almost all of them sent salespeople who gave generic answers or tried to push cookie-cutter solutions that clearly didn't fit my setup. Just for context, I've talked to another solar company where clearly they were just about trying to close the deal and sell sell sell, which really turned me off - it felt like they just wanted our money as opposed to wanting to understand what we really needed. However when 1 person is acting unprofessional, crossing the line, asking homeowners to borrow a usb cable to charge their cell phone, super loud, tries to impress (why), doesn't listen to clients (would walk away in mid conversation), act as if he is the owner of the company, talks way too much (not in a good way), talking about his side hustle business, a bit juvenile, not completing and complaining about the job in front of clients plus not showing up when he said he would to complete the job, leaving tools at the site and asking the homeowners to put it in their garage until he returns to pick it up, calls in sick last minute leaving the load to other team members plus more well then this becomes a problem and 0 stars (if possible) especially the amount of money you invest into this project. We also requested that this person not show up again but they kept sending him back. At the end of the project half of the Tesla walls were connected and working but the other half wasn't connecting. At one point our bedrooms electricity didn't work, it wasn't the breakers and Nick was awesome enough to take our after hours call and help us manually override those other 2 disconnected wall panels. The dream team (Nick, Kevin and Albert) resolved the connection and all is working now. Also, Nick stayed late to make sure our Tesla walls were configured and updated properly. Plus , a shout out to Jeremy for staying late as well to help fix a broken issue. Feedback: Organize a team that works well together to effectively complete the project. Provide sexual harassment training (this is excluding people listed here). If a female client doesn't feel comfortable with a person don't resend them back. They also had the best price and were available the soonest to replace the inverter. He seemed genuinely interested in helping solve the problem and did not try to upsell additional panels or equipment. Since the original installer of my system is no longer in business, I also needed to transfer the system monitoring to a new company. Blake helped move the monitoring over to Sologic Solar so the system can be properly monitored going forward to ensure it's performing at its best and to identify any future issues. I found Blake to be very honest and trustworthy throughout the process. I also had them wash my solar panels to help improve performance. In addition to solar services, the company also offers window washing and gutter cleaning. Overall, it was a very positive experience.

Kurt utilized a tool to evaluate my power consumption from PGE by day and time of use to confirm I was getting the properly sized system based on my actual power consumption. He gave me options for different brands and explained the benefits and cost differences between them all. He was competitive on his pricing and managed the installation of the system. Kurt coordinated all the permits, plans, and contracted installation. Kurt was present for all inspections with the city, and delivery of all goods and actually confirmed all parts were present from the supplier prior to starting installation to prevent delays. The whole project from contract approval to installation was approximately two weeks. His contractor Ray did an outstanding job and was very professional and thorough. They both truly care about the customers and take pride in their work. If I ever buy another home I would definitely work with Kurt again.

I had a Solar Pergula installed on my property by Arka Energy who contracted the installation to KW…read moreHour Energy. That is where the nightmare began. KW Hour Energy didnt know how to integrate the new system to my existing system, had missing wires, mis wirings, damaged by Tesla battery and cause an electrical short that blew all my subpanel breakers as well as damaged over $5000 of electronics. I would highly recommend to think twice before you use this company for your projects as Arka Energy has stopped communicating with me on the damages KWh caused and will be taking them to court.
