And they are the only place I know that correctly calls "sausage kolaches" as their real name--Klobásník--or Klobásníky (plural.) but don't expect those to still be there. On a weekday, they might still have these Czech treats until 3 pm, but on the weekends, they go fast! Always friendly staff and i just love looking through their home decor. They have the cutest little tchotchkes that are locally crafted and so wonderful for home, garden, or lawn. I have bought many a christmas and birthday gift on the way. Great metal art as well! The bathrooms are always clean and smell fine. I highly recommend stopping at least one time to see everything they have to offer. It's a true, "small Texas town" stop! Oh, and set the GPS! It's small but it's one of those places that remembers who you are when you walk in the door. Everyone who works at this local store is so friendly and very helpful. You would think being one of two grocery stores in town that the prices would be outrageous. Not true though! The meat market prices are very reasonable as well as the fresh produce. I'll be honest I was shocked because you figure a small town grocery store the prices would be higher than a big city store. The weekly sales are very impressive also. This is my new go to store.

I've always preferred small grocery stores to large ones, & I really have a soft spot for this one. I love this grocery store! I really really thought I wouldn't given that it's smaller than any HEB, and it's located in rural Texas, which, quite frankly usually means fewer organic selections and dubious cleanliness. I couldn't have been more wrong! The organic produce selection is surprisingly good, as are the "weird" brands we'd become accustomed to at Village Foods. We've found everything from our favorite tomato paste in a tube, to choice and prime beef, which you can't find even at HEB. The store is clean and the staff is moderately helpful. They were running a really cool promo where you'd save stickers with every purchase and get Lock N Lock plastic storage containers with completed sheets, but that expired last month. I hope they run another one soon; we got some great stuff! Given our other options here in Caldwell (zero), I feel like we lucked out here, and it's pretty awesome not to have to drive half an hour for a great selection of products.
