6 month check in here! Happy to say we have enjoyed our time at Sofia. Keiley is the leasing consultant here, and it's a pleasure seeing her every time we pass the lobby. So much so, that every time I take my puppy out for a walk, she tries to drag me to the leasing office so keiley can say hello We have loved the hot tub, gym, and grills on the esplanade. My only complaint is that the community WiFi is spotty - to which we just got an email that is was fixed. I'll check in another month or so and see if it holds up! Don't move in unless you want to get robbed in your own apartment complex. Probably one of the worst property management to ever exist- Greystar. Our paid parking garage with 2 spots have the worst security- with the gate being constantly broken. One of our car got broken into within less than 3 weeks after our move in- with our first week in the building getting our apartment barged in without permission. The other car was vandalized because our management couldn't get their shit together to properly assign a parking spot that tenants paid for. And yet when we need maintenance to come fix anything, we won't get any responses. We moved in when I was 8 months pregnant, and have since gone through a flooding in the apartment, robbery, vandalism and great disappointment with the management with lack of communication and accountability. Caused the biggest stress to our family. Would love to move out ASAP but I am due to give birth any minute now, a move would just have to wait. Just don't get fooled by the nice amenities because you won't feel a day of peace living in with this Greystar management. read more

I lived in Apt 756 with my bf for 1 year and we were harassed and terrorized by our neighbor during most of our stay. We loved the amenities and our apartment, however our experience with management has been terrible as they did not help us when we were being harassed. As multiple reviews have mentioned already, the management here is slow, dismissive, and unprofessional, especially Jeshel. She dismissed us and would reschedule our meetings after we took time out of our day to meet her! During our stay, our neighbor would constantly harass us by banging on their ceiling (we lived above them), coming to our door multiple times a week (day or night), kicking our door, and repeatedly calling the cops with false claims, saying there were fights or domestic abuse happening. My boyfriend and I are always careful to be quiet during all times of the day and the cops that would come were always on our side as they can see that none of our neighbor's complaints were true. We were harassed for most of our one year stay. Despite us keeping an entire document detailing every time he would harass us (with video evidence), management said it was still not enough for them to take action. It was only when the cops wrote a police report that our neighbor's claims were false and they found shoe marks from him kicking our door that management issued him a warning. We did not feel safe while living here as he continued to harass us even after the warning. So if you have a problem and need management to help resolve it, don't expect anything. Even our emails have gone unanswered many times. We are incredibly disappointed because for 4k+/month you'd expect management to reply to emails and take action when there's a problem. read more

Superficial luxury. Management takes forever to respond or fix things. There have been plenty of times where I have sent an email only to get ghosted. Then when going to the front lobby to talk, they say they are busy and to come back another time. There have been many times when someone reserves an elevator, but management won't even say that it is reserved until after it is already happening. Community amenities are always broken or missing: For the entire time that I've lived here, there has not been 1 TV remote for any of the TV's around the building (3 in gym, 1 in study area, 3 in community lounge, 2 in arcade). They must keep them locked away. Randomly in the gym you will be stuck watching some Nascar or Formula 1 race from like 2009 from the free Samsung channels. How cheap can you be that you don't even have a community TV subscription or even let renters decide what TV they want to watch? The grills are always broken. If you go to use the grill, you will often find the knobs of the burners have been twisted entirely off. Albeit this is a community issue, this should be addressed more frequently than it is. The fireplace in the courtyard and the ones on the rooftops have been broken the past couple of times that I've attempted to use them. There are rooms that they advertised on the tour that to this day have not been unlocked. On the note of cheap, there are several areas to point out: The gym has wipes for cleaning off the equipment after use. There has been plenty of times where the wipes ran out for close to a week without any replacements. Similarly in the community bathrooms, the hand towels often run out and don't get replenished for a long time. There is also a community coffee machine that isn't even complimentary for residents. If it's any reflection of the building, they do claim that your first cup is free using the email you used for the resident portal but they never gave me a free cup. All of the hallways are carpeted, which doesn't quite make sense. The building has valet trash (that you can't opt out of) in which residents are supposed to leave their trash outside their door for collection. Guess what happens when the trash leaks through the bag.... On the same note, there are a handful of stains from what I can assume are some residents' pets relieving themselves. While I can only blame the pet's owner for this, the building's decision for carpet was terrible as it certainly holds that stain and smell. I could go on with other problems, but I think you get the point. Final note: For the price it costs to live in this place, it is not worth it. From dealing with management, to the broken/missing amenities, to the smell of the hallways, this place is does not live up to the cost. The worst part? A lot of these problems can be fixed but they choose not to. read more

I'm extremely disappointed with my experience living here. Despite paying $1,000-$1,500 above market value, the management and maintenance quality are terrible. When our rent payment didn't go through due to a technical issue with their vendor, the staff humiliated my husband, saying, "This is why we check credit history before letting people move in." That was completely unprofessional. We even spoke with the staff that afternoon, agreed to make a new payment later that evening, and I clearly explained that the payment might take 24 hours to process. Despite this, the next morning we found an eviction notice on our door -- completely unnecessary, premature, and deeply insulting. Maintenance issues are constant. Wi-Fi in the study rarely works, and the garage door stays broken for days or weeks, even though we pay $100 a month for parking. They also force residents to pay $20/month for valet trash while still charging $35 for community trash. The outdoor furniture is dirty and covered in bird droppings. On top of that, the staff is rude, dismissive, and pretentious. Instead of helping residents, they belittle and humiliate them. Overall, this place is overpriced, poorly managed, and not worth the stress. Look elsewhere unless management completely changes how they treat residents. read more

We've lived at Sofia for a little over a year, Keiley from the leasing office is amazing! So kind and respectful, always addresses our concerns in a timely fashion. To be honest there isn't anyone else in the office I'd want to deal with. Everyone else including the manager, is very dismissive and condescending. All that aside, we pay for Valet trash as well as community trash but we're told we're not allowed to take our own trash out when they're closed for holidays, there are plenty of dumpsters in the garage but we're expected to live in filth till they reopen after a holiday which is essentially 2 days since you're also not allowed to place your trash bin outside the unit till after 5pm. It's also a small window between 5-7pm so if you happen to not be home till after 7pm, well... you're out of luck! Just deal with apartment smelling like trash with your bin overflowing since we're not allowed to take out our own trash out. Keep in mind, these units have zero storage space. Just a small closet in the bedroom and an additional coat closet in the living room. The other major issue is the elevator closest to our unit has been out of order for 3 weeks straight now, and on and off for 3 weeks before that, so we either take the stairs or walk all the way around the building, not ideal for two disabled people with a toddler to drag around. What's even worse is anytime we've asked for an update, the response is always just blaming it on a vendor and sort of a shoulder shrug to follow. Multiple repetitive emails about parking stacker rules, rent payments, but in over a month of the elevator being down, only ONE email apologizing for the inconvenience. Where's our discount on rent while we don't have a working elevator?? Where's the regular updates about the elevator like we get about everything else?? We pay way above market rate for these luxury units, we also pay for the convenience of having a unit close to the elevator, but don't even have access to an elevator for an extended period of time. Currently inquiring about tenant rights and filing a formal complaint. The least they could do is give everyone who's unit is closest to this elevator, a 20% discount till it gets fixed, and at the VERY least, have some respect and send out another email acknowledging the issue! read more

Sofia is a fantastic apartment building in the area, electricity is cheap because of Silicon Valley Power (not PG&E), the amenities are top tier and the apartments are modern. Had a really good experience with the management team and also maintenance is handled promptly. read more

We toured Sofia today with Colby! Colby was amazing from start to finish. He created the perfect/most seamless tour of apartments we have been on (we've toured around 6-8 in total so far). He was professional and friendly and seemed to be loved by the tenants who already reside there. Sofia was a beautiful complex with tons of amenities, it is definitely a top contender for the price and everything you get with it. We lived in the complex for almost 5 months and I can accurately tell you about the pros and cons 1) unfortunately, the territory of the complex is very, very dirty, dog poop and urine are everywhere (on the carpets in the building, in the area near the complex, in the internal parking lot). It feels like this is not a new complex, but an old one 2) the constant smell of cigarettes and grass in the evening every weekday, it's simply unbearable, my child falls asleep with this smell. It is impossible to ventilate the bedroom before going to bed, much less sleep with the window open. They smoke on the street close to the building, but it all easily reaches the 6th floor. 3) very loud car sounds - the growl of a sports car engine in the middle of the night and the noise from people talking loudly late at night - this is unfortunately a common thing 4) cockroaches on the territory of the complex, we are walking the dog and they constantly crawl out onto the sidewalks from somewhere 5) very strong smell of garbage from the tanks 6) it looks like a solid concrete complex, but in fact it has the same problem with sound insulation as in ordinary old buildings 7) CONSTANT SMELL OF SEWER IN THE ENTRANCE AND FROM THE TAP WHEN WATER FLOWS, as well as on the landing! Aside from how beautiful this apartment complex is, what really stood out to me was how kind and helpful Keiley was! I can't say enough good things about my experience with her. From the moment I toured with her, I sensed her deep knowledge of the field and her genuine excitement to showcase Sofia's offerings. Additionally, although my application process was somewhat tedious (not Sofias fault), Keiley went above and beyond to ensure that I was able to move in before a deadline I had. After seeing multiple other apartments in the area on the same day, what stood out and led me to the Sofia versus another apartment complex was the outdoor spaces, which were spacious and well-maintained, the quiet of the building within the individual apartments, and the service/going above-and-beyond attitude of everyone who we met that worked at the Sofia! During our tour, a resident was struggling to figure out the grill and Keiley happily sent someone to go assist, which was such a green flag as I felt that courtesy/helpfulness would be extended to me and other residents should I live there as well and made me feel comfortable that if there were ever an issue with my apartment, it wouldn't be brushed under the rug! Keiley went above and beyond during our tour and made us feel welcome and answer all of our questions/concerns. Keiley's attention-to-detail and welcoming attitude exceeded our expectations for the tour. She was instrumental in making me feel excited to apply and like the Sofia could be a home/community rather than a cold apartment building. Unprofessional Management, Avoid if You Value Respect! I strongly advise anyone considering Sofia Apartments to think twice due to the disrespectful and unprofessional behavior of the management team. I have lived here for 1year and here is my experience: - Repeated Ignorance: Between Feb 22 and March 6, I visited the leasing office SIX times to discuss lease renewal with the manager, Jeshel. Each time, agent Keiley dismissed me with "Come back tomorrow," but Jeshel was never available. - Intentional Avoidance: On one occasion, Jeshel saw me in the office, then immediately hid in a back room to dodge conversation. This is unacceptable for someone in a leadership role. - False Excuses: When Jeshel finally called on March 6, she claimed to be on "family sick leave" for 3 weeks. However, multiple neighbors and I saw her working during this period. - Zero Accountability: Even if Jeshel was on leave, no other staff addressed my concerns. Keiley's endless "tomorrow" promises wasted hours of my time. The management's lack of transparency and basic respect has left me deeply disappointed. Choose somewhere else!!! read more

I recently moved to Sofia and the experience has been fantastic! The apartments are brand new and all the appliances, finishes, and amenities are top of the line. Jenny made the entire process from tour to move-in seamless. She was very prompt to emails and addressed all my concerns. I've never had a move that was so stress free. I did have an issue with parking (entirely my fault) and Keiley was able to get my issue resolved very quickly! I'm extremely impressed with Sofia apartments and all the staff here. 10/10 read more
