So. i brought my doc marten sandals in because my dog chewed off the leather strap. Seen in the second photo, he sewed it back together but... when i picked it up he said "you are going to need new soles soon. I though hmh how weird ok. I get into my car and I notice my SHOE WAS CUT OPEN! On both sides it was cut, with a thin piece holding the shoe together, it took just a little tug to rip it open (seen in the picture) It was cut in the most bizarre place. Realistically it would be falling apart at a seam, or the stitching. Maybe he thought I was dumb enough to pay him to fix it. I went back and showed him and obviously he denied it. It really makes me upset because he charged me 28$ and I gave him 30$. To be a nice person and tip. For this to happen shows that even people you think are nice, can really have a sick intentions. No refund or reimbursement for my 130$ sandals. I think i'd notice my shoe was cut in half or had any type of damage before hand cuz I would wear these all the time. Lesson learned: always take pictures before you take your belongings anywhere. Fr would've sued if i did. Please don't go here. read more

Brought my $500 leather riding boots here to have the zipper replaced. I choose this place because, well, there wasn't really another option. I have had the zipper replaced in the other boot so I knew what to expect. Cobbler Express was VERY expensive. VERY. I was charged $55 to have 1 zipper replaced and the workmanship was shoddy, at best. I had asked that my boots be cleaned up as well; they weren't. Additionally it took a full week to have the work done. This was really my only option in the area but I won't go there again. read more

We've been taking work boots there to replace the soles for 20 years. The work has always been satisfactory. That is up until now. We took a pair in on May 2, 2018 to have the soles replaced like we have done so many times before. It was $102. The price has gone up over the years but that's understandable. However, this time instead of replacing the whole sole, he only glued a new bottom to the existing midsection. We didn't realize what he had done until the soles started coming off (see pic). It's only been about 2 months and the past repairs he has done for us cost about $80 usually last 1 or 2 years. When I took the work boots back to him today, he said they ALWAYS only glue on a new bottom. I showed him my receipts from the last 20 years and he still denied replacing the soles!!! Then he said if I wanted the soles (he had glued on) sewn on it would cost us ANOTHER $55!! I was so angry & he absolutely did not care that his shoddy work was coming apart. Unfortunately, we needed the work boots so I had to pay the extra $55. So save yourself time, money & frustration and go somewhere else!! There is only one other shoe repair place here in the desert (it's in Hesperia) so apparently The Cobbler Express just doesn't care if you come back or not. So please, show him he can't over charge for crappy work and treat customers like they don't matter! Take your business UPDATE....UPDATE.....UPDATE...., So I picked up the workboots and apparently ripping me off just wasn't enough for him!! Look at what he did (see pic 2) yes that's right, he put a white upper sole on, just to be mean and ugly!!! Like I stated above, we had been using Cobbler Express for literally 20 years. He's never used an ugly white sole before! Always black, he absolutely had to have done this ugly (and very poorly done) white one purposely! This man has no integrity!! Unfortunately, I think because he knows he's one of only two repair shops in the desert that he can do whatever he wants. Please don't give him your business!! I have a pair of Danskos that I had purchased in October. With my level of clumsiness I managed to scuff the toes repeatedly from doors, tripping over myself, even dust it with chalk. I also stepped in gum and that really pissed me off. Two months. At least the shoes were comfortable. This morning I hopped out of my car and...good grief. Button's leather fell out. So my left shoe had a shiny metal cap and the other a black leather cap. I taught my first class of the day shuffling my feet under tables and such. Embarrassing. Before my next class I Googled shoe repair and get these guys. Called in advance. Asked for quote. They told me I had to go buy buttons elsewhere. That was good to know. $1.75 for silver buttons that won't chip off from a Joann's close by. I dropped the shoes in, asked for button replacement and a shoe shine. These guys were polite and willing to work within a 30 minute schedule because I had to rush to my next class. That was cool. I went next door to eat supper and returned to shiny shoes, like new. Now they're customized! And to be honest...I think I took more time figuring what buttons to use than for them to put them on and shine my shoes. read more

I've had boots resoled, shoes resoled, and new zippers on one pair of boots. I've had several shines done here as well. The work is always top notch. I've never had a problem with any work they've done, and they do a wonderful shine. I frankly don't know if they're rude or not. I go in, handle business, then go on with my life. They aren't that friendly, but I haven't noticed overt rudeness. All things considered, I don't really care...I'm getting shoes worked on, not searching for a BFF. I'm taking a star off because of price. I debated myself about that, but frankly, they charge nearly twice what I used to pay in LA. That's insane, and leaves me feeling gouged. It works against them too. As others have said, the place is deserted. In the end, they're only making a couple extra bucks off me, because I always tipped my old guy generously. If he wasn't 90 miles away, I'd still go to him. In fact, I will, when I'm ready to have my leather jacket worked on. I'll not be bringing it here. If I had time, I'd go down the hill, but then, so would a lot of folks I'm sure. If you find yourself down there on a regular basis, you should probably shop around. My boots s zippers were broken and he actually not only fixed it but I chose to seal it to prevent any more issues and the finally product was amazing ...
